Cindy, again, the men are too dumb!!!!
Especially that Tarzan voting off Jay!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning sistahs.
Brrrrrr.. it's very chilly here.
Hot dark roasted coffee with hazelnut creamer.

Hoping everyone have a good Thursday.

morning sistah's
very chilly here and its not good at all. The apple orchard down the road has his tree's in full bloom ! this is our 4 th freeze this week.
dropped into the low 30 some area in the high 20's
good news we will get some rain this weekened. sure hope so we need the rain. Last spring we got to much rain, this psring not enough . can't win.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Thanks for the coffee Jaye!

Sue, sure hope that freeze does not hurt the fruit trees!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

A freeze?? Hope there's minimal damage to your nursery, Sue.
Our apple tree has blossoms and so far we haven't got any apples. Well, when I told my church sister that, she said I had to spray the blossoms so that bugs don't get to them?? Hmm.. they destroy the flowers before they can turn to fruits?
If that's what it takes, I'll start spraying this weekend!

Crissy dahlin'... sadly why can't BP ride his Harley by himself?? Your team is #5 last year on the BCS polls and this year it's gonna play against 'Bama and LSU on it's home turf. I am expecting Hogs to beat one of us this year, but with BP at the helm.

I know Sue.. football talk. I LIVE for college football besides the garden and the sewing machine... and the cats!! LOLOL!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Who left the deep freeze door open? It is burrrrr chilly here but the sun is out so all in all it will be a beautiful day. Hope to get a few more plants into their new homes. Have my spot all prepared for my Ruby Slipper Hydrangea so that is at the top of my list today.

Jaye, I am not sure but did I see that FSU is being rated as numbero uno for next year? Could be I didn't read things right---sure hope so as that is like the seal of doom as far as I am concerned.

Sue, love the pictures of the memorial garden on FB----you have a wonderful project started.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

No deep freeze open here but someone left the flood gates open. Poured rain all night long, getting a little break and more to come this evening ugh, but we do need it.

Sue, GiGi's Garden is going to be awesome. Question.....why are you sending donations to homeless shelter here in Cali??? When you live in OH???

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, I don't know it's projected standings on the BCS field. But this morning on ESPNU, some commentator (maybe Mark May) said that FSU will be #1 this year in it's own conference.. ACC that is.

I got to look for Ruby Slipper. Sigh.. I love ALL plants but most don't love me back.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

That could be what I saw Jaye. I only had a glance and didn't go back to read it further.

Ruby Slipper was being talked about last year for upcoming new variety and this year it is actually on the market. I ordered 3 hoping one would be nice and healthy and grow. Imagine my surprise when I received 3 very nice size plants complete with a sticker that read: "Be patient, as I am not awake yet". One has already set a bloom spike. This is a dwarf variety that is supposed to be about 3 to 5' tall and as wide. There is another one called Munckin that is on my Mother's Day list for the kids. LOL

Let me look up the address of the nursery I ordered from. I have really good luck with everything I buy from them. Back in a minute.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

http://www.greatgardenplants.com/

That is their website and they are featured in the companies listed here. Once again, I am impressed with what I have received. I had ordered some grasses last year that they ran out of. Not only did they call me but asked how I was planning to use them and made suggestions for replacements.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oooh Marion, she is precious!! Spikes instead of globes, what a treat.. plus maroon foliage in fall?
One reason to decrease Kel's allowance!! Lolol.
Remember one year we both had ordered tri-colored hydrangea? Both of mine bit the dust in their 4" pots!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

So did mine.

So tell Kel he is on a restricted budget until you get a Ruby Slipper Hydrangea. LOL I must confess that Ross would always "roll" his eyes when I got near a fabric store or a place selling plants. Things haven't changed. Hey, I could be doing worse things!!!!!

My yardman really worked up my planting area nicely for me. Added in a lot of mushroom compost and other soil enhancers, let's hope it works. Oh yes, lest I forget, I have a small area of foam flowers growing that I hope really spread. Their name: Pirate Patch--devil made me do it. LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Marion, both of those flowers are so pretty. Knew you had to have a few pirates around!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Aren't they nice LK. Actually Kim selected the foam flowers--not guilty this time.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy.. Cindy.. don't try to walk the 'kids' in the rain!!

Marion, I have that strange feeling that next you'll get a bed prepared and dedicate it to growing anything with Pirate in it's name...

Well, I just finished cooking spaghetti and chicken. Had my chicken boiled yesterday and the cats are now enjoying the skin.

Think I'll try to sew next :D

Look at this list, with pirate in the names!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL Why would I not have an area with pirate names with all this help!

Jess left to go live with her dad when she was 16 , then at age 18 he kicked her out. no money, no education ect... her and her step sister were homeless . So jess wondered around Ca for about a year , then found some people who helped her get into a homeless shelter , they were the best thing that happened to her, they all became very fond of her. she was doing very well in Ca.
but then she became very upset and was loose again and homeless, this went on for several years.
she found love online and those always ended up bad and finely i said enough is enough. come in live in ohio and we will keep you safe and find an apt ect... help you with life skills ect...
so the people in Ca were such wonderful people and went far and beyound the call of duty for her. even when she screwed it up and got kicked out of shelters, Her social worker was always at her side helping her get back on meds ect... they kept in contact with her and she got therepy sessions even when she lived here in ohio . They never closed her file , i talked with them many times to ask for help and guidence on how to deal with her ect... I just feel that since they were all so dedicated in her helping her in life that i should give back to them .

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Aww Sue, that is so thoughtful of you!! Sounds like everyone knew what a special person Gigi was. Special (((hugs))) to you!!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Pegi said it for me Sue!!! That is so sweet of you!!
Boy did it ever storm at my mom's. It was sprinkling here when I left, by the time I got to my mom's and we headed out for the doctor's it POURED buckets!!! Almost had to pull over and stop it was coming down so hard! Lots of flooded areas, luckily I have 4 wheel drive!!! Got to doctor's, in and out, back to mom's and back home before the big one hits. It is coming in a little later this afternoon.

I had gotten 32 lbs of stained glass fro Kris, so I am cutting things out for stepping stones. Nice indoor project for today and tomorrow

Take Ladies

Everything is ok with mom, it's anxiety. She had an attack just driving to the doctor. The rain storm did it!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sue - that CA family truly blessed you by looking after Jess.

With all the pain in our lives, here's a true miracle baby:
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/newborn-baby-found-alive-morgue-12-hours-being-175501352.html

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye you better do some research on growing fruit trees, you have to spray them with copper, oil, and bug spray. There's a moth called a Coddling Moth, it lays eggs inside the bloom, so as the fruit grows the eggs hatch and the larva eat the apple from the inside out. When they leave the fruit it will have a small hole in one part of it. You need to spray in the winter, when it starts growing leaves, when it buds, when it blooms, and after it starts fruiting. Taking care of apples, or any fruit for that matter, isn't easy. We have peaches and the fruit are probably an inch or two thick, Dave didn't spray when the fruit started growing and we have damaged goods already.

I did know about Bobby Patrino, it sucks and I personally think it's BS, but I'm very Californian so you know.

Sue that is so sweet, what a nice thing to do to such an awesome group of people.

Cindy so glad mom's ok, my goodness! LOL

LOL Marion, that's cute!

Well it's time for me to get outta here, so I'll see y'all later!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Wow Susan, that was something about the miracle baby. Thank God the parents wanted to see their daughter. How can so many medical professionals be wrong, scary if you ask me.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes Pegi - I'm really pleased to hear the parents are following up on this with a law suit. They deserve compensation for the horror they were put through. To be told your baby is stillborn would be heartbreaking. a friend of mine was told that their baby was dead in the womb, and she had to carry it to full term. After the Live baby was born, they discovered a heart defect, which was the reason they thought the baby was dead. Can you imagine carrying a baby for 4 months that you thought wasn't living?
When I see things like this, I know God is in their lives. My friend's baby was a beautiful little girl - like a little jewel.
God Is Good.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good chilly 46 degrees morning to all.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Friday 13th!! Oh wow.. any Mrs. Freddy Kruger out there??
The last time, Friday 13th bad jinx happened was when the plane I'm on. heading for Hawai'i had one of it's engine on fire. You can see billowing smoke from the wing, where it's located under. Not scary as the pilot assured the passengers that "we'll" make it with one engine. Anyway, it wasn't any comfort, till we landed 3 hrs. later.

Sue, that's a good thing for you to do. You're acknowledging their help with Gigi. I'm sure the homeless shelter there can use any help as Ca. faced more cutbacks than any other states.

There are a lot of miracles out there Susan, which ony can be linked to God.
He's still in business!!

Hey Marion.. Kel's on a $1 burger budget today, so I might get one Ruby Slipper!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good for you!!! You need a Ruby Slipper.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Wow - WHAT a Friday the 13th - lucky for a change - Praise God
1. Bob got a 2nd call from Lowes last night re: part time work - on-phone interview.
2. He was able to defer his truck payment until the end of the contract and only pay admin fees - what a relief that is.
3. We managed to pay our utility bill this month (which we thought Wasn't going to happen, and they were going to disconnect us), and I'm not feeling so overwhelmed, except with relief!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Friday the 13th, did I miss it????? Talk about senior moments, I knew it was Friday but forgot the date.

Glad Bob found some part time work to help out a little, Susan. I really was worried when DH retired that I couldn't pay bills, etc., but so far it has worked out OK. Now if my mortgage was paid off I would feel a whole lot better. LOL

Been raining, or I should say sprinkling, on and off and I want sunshine for tomorrow for our RU. We do need the rain, but I would like sunshine for my important day.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

((((Susan)))) As I had said, God's is in the miracle business, and we'll let Him be in control.
Praise God you got utilities.

Pegi, I asked in the other room. How's Darwin doing?

Crissy, I talked to Kel about the spraying.. he's amazed too.
I'm ignorant on fruit trees. Thanks Crissy.
It's a wonder how my persimmon tree continues to bear fruits. Think I'll protect it this year, just in case.

Ordering one now, Marion!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!
My first online purchase for a plant!!! Been 2 years now..

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Sorry Jaye that I didn't answer, but he is doing OK for now. He still lays down too much, but some of that is just habit I'm sure. He is looking forward to going to our gardening round up tomorrow, guess we have to dress warm since the weather won't cooperate with us. Going to the urologist and oncologist the end of the month then we will know more what is going on. Doesn't help much that he is full of arthritis too and that bothers him a lot.
Also, there is another gardening/composting workshop not too far from us on May 19th and he is looking forward to going to that too. Keeps him moving around. LOL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Pegi - I didn't say Bob got the job, just that he was called for a phone interview.......... He told them he'd do Anything right now, to pay the bills...... hope that didn't sound Too Desperate LOL LOL
Bob had, after all, lost his last 2 jobs on Friday the 13th!! Wouldn't it be nice if he Got one on this day LOL LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, we love Friday the 13th, as both Todd and I were born on the 13th!

Susan, so glad to hear about Bob's interview! Praying he will hear he got the job soon.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I do too, LindaKay - even part-time is better than "no time" and once in the door, he may get more hours....... I think the part-time job is permanent, but not sure.

Jaye Crissy is right on the coddle moth. I work at the apple orchard and he sprays for them and amoung other things. but they can still do damage even with spray. Fruit tree's are not easy. I have many people ask me if i sell apple tree's ect... i say " no i have an apple orchard 2 miles down the road from me ? " they reply. " oh i don't want to pay his prices and i want free apples. " ,,, well then i reply " ok i get that, but when you pay for the fungicides, insect repellants and for the spray for scab , your really don't have free apples " ,,,, some take it as good info and some get all snarky on it... but its the truth ... I hope you do well on yours. I m not saying this to burst your bubble. Its just good info.
wow what a mircale joy on the baby wow.
yep part time is way better then no time. congrats on his interview. praying for good news !
that is why i clean houses to help out when Tim is not working.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ho boy............. I'm going to hand quilt a lap quilt, for the first time ever, and I don't have a floor frame OR a lap frame.
I just downloaded some easy continuous-line patterns, and will do it from the back (I know, but the back is one piece, and the scrap quilt front is too confusing to see the lines.........).
I'm going to print the pattern and attach it to my quilt, then just sew/quilt. hope it works.......... This is really a first!
After all, if they did it hundreds of years ago, without a frame, I'm sure I can........ ?!?!

go Susan go. go Susan go. be the quilt.... :)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LOL Sue
I'm trying to figure out how to hand quilt it, without a frame (lap or floor sized).......
I have the patterns I'm going to use :-)
Bob, knowing I'm going to do it this way, is working more on my floor quilt frame lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Wahoo Jaye, I am shouting with you. Where did you order it from?
