ok - question for friends I've had online here since 2009/2010 - some of you had a quilt block swap with me, and I'm hoping you can help me find the thread we posted our blocks on
Members were:
Janice, Marion, Elen (from France), Thunder, Pat (and Pat), Sondra, Kathy, Michelle, Cher, Lucy, Sue
Any ideas?
Best/Worse/what did I learn today..chat with friends!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1094424/
Is this the one?
Nope, cuz I'm not on it. and mine are dated 2009 - this swap was March 2010.....
I have gone back to 2009, and that is the only one I see Elen's name in.
What kind of blocks are they?
LK - I found an email from Thunder, saying they were posted on FB, so I checked there.
I had to find my old block cuz I never signed the one I kept for myself LOL
Now I've seen it, and know what to put on MY block!
thank you soooooo much for trying to find it for me!!
There were a couple of blocks I didn't get, but I have 15 and have put some of my old UFOs mixed in, so I have a lap quilt I'm building :-)
Anyone know were Betty is?
I phoned her, but she didn't answer - about 3 hours ago......
I just called her, she answered - she's in bed and can't talk - head's pounding.
She'll be back online tomorrow.
This is worrisome. I wonder whats going on and if she has been back to doctor for a blood pressure recheck. Thanks for calling Susan, I really worry about her.
Sure hoping the rest does her good...she doesn't need any more stress.
Hello To all ... nice to see everyone...well almost everyone today.... except worried about our Betty/Bessie !
Dianne & Katie - I'll have to put that book on my list.....(and @ Debbie) I finally finished the HUGE 4 books "Eragon" series tonight...
Love seeing you Dianne ! Katie - you're ahead of us all with the garden. But we did get a head start this year and I was amazed to see ... we're already getting a cucumber !
I think this time last year we had not even planted yet.
Debbie ! FEEL Better girl ! Please do something nice for yourself... borrowing Diannes words.....
(((HUGS THUNDER))) I think we should re-name Judy "Lightning".... since Thunder and Lightning are about to be together.....
What do you think Judy ?
Jean - Beautiful Kitties !
Betty - Think Rico just surprised everyone coming to the USA.... He has matured it seems. Sure hope you are feeling better....
Susan - very pretty and HUGE Quilt ! yes - sounds like the perfect job. and how many admin assistants can they find that have a plethora of knowledge about the business ? A BONUS For them !
Glad to see everyone. I'm in a real good mood today. (HUGS)
Mary
Mary, technically I am not sick....I am just over tired and have an eye issue going on. Haven't said much, but apparently my eyes have developed an allergy...to my contact lenses! I can only wear them a short time a day, and if not going anywhere, leave them out all day. I am on several drops....and trying to behave.
Doc is unsure of next step, new lenses no doubt, he is worried about getting them to fit. NO....I can't wear glasses and get around. They haven't been able to fit me with any for the last 8 years...not even well enough to see the tv. BUT he is doing some research and hopefully when I see him in 3 weeks, we have more answers.
DH is doing well. He had PT today, and will again Friday. He actually rode the bike yesterday for a bit as the PT said that would be good for him. Well, they meant to make his bike stationary and ride inside. Ooops!
Can't believe you finished all 3 Eragon books! WOW that is a lot of reading. I know DS started reading them. Not sure if he finished or not. On a good note with him, he received an A- on his Music Theory Mid-term.
Debbie
Mary - not a huge quilt - only 30 of 9" squares - 45"x54"ish.......... a lap quilt. My DH is holding it up - he's so proud of my current achievements in quilting :-)
Debbie - sure hope your eye Dr can find some solutions for your eyes!!!
I wanted to wear contacts but can't - never did before and now I live in a drier climate so it's not recommended to start out that way........
NO way on the lightening name !!! do NOT like that stuff!!!! can be pretty to look at, yes...but causes much damage...fires...etc..... love Judy to much :) she can not be called lightening!!!!
hugs to every one
Betty sure hope you wake up feeling much better...maybe time to call that DR again????
huh? Did I miss something re: lightening?
Debbie - congrats on DS getting an A- on his Music!! That must be a tough grade to get :-)
hahahaha DH - men don't think of stationary bikes......... that's not a testosterone thingie lol
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1249596/
Froggie swap is open...
Betty, sure hope you have called the Dr. about those headaches?
Betty, I hate to harp but I think it is time you seek another opinion. Your GP is ignoring too many things I am afraid. So before all of us here start hounding you please seek out another GP's opinion. I know it is hard to find a GP here in Ontario who takes new patients butmaybe there is one in Barrie. If not perhaps a visit to the ER is in order. They won't dismiss these blinding headaches, I am sure.
~~~~~ to everyone.
Dianne
Hello To All !
Ditto Dianne ! Betty where are you ?
Thunder - LOL OKAY OKAY ! I do think of fire sometimes with Judy... her sparkler personality and spiritual fires... but we have plenty of T & L tonight and it is a bit scary for sure....
Susan - how is the job hunt? quilt store?
LOL Deb... apparently the author (as you prob know, started writing the books when he was 16) meant the books to be a trilogy but they are not. There are FOUR and they are huge. no reading for me for a while...
Okay Betty - we are officially "Worried" Gal... please pop in...
Hugs,
Mary
I AM OVER THE MOON WITH GOOD NEWS ABOUT MY SISTER!!!
My Sister went to the oncologist today, and what they thought was cancer Isn't! He said she has No Cancer!. She'd been treated for cancer for 16 years and has had 3 lung surgeries to remove cancerous lumps. Then, when she thought it was pretty much treated, they found something growing and said "your cancer is back and growing". Well, guess what? It started to shrink and cancer Doesn't shrink without treatment (and she wasn't on treatment) so it's an infection or inflammation and they're sending her to a respiratory Dr to see what it is. Praise The Lord!!!
btw - Mary - the quilt shop job isn't being interviewed for until Saturday.
Susan, that is such wonderful news.... definitely a big PRAISE!
Exhausted and heading to bed. Sweet dreams
Debbie
Thank God Susan ! YAY!
Night Night Everyone ! ((HUGS))
TGIF TOMORROW ! Hopefully a relaxing weekend !
I've got such a big grin on my "puss" right now, I'm soooooo happy!
Sunshine in my neck of the woods, enjoying a cup of coffee and trying not to cook up muffins, when I do, you all don't eat them up and guess who ends up doing so..
Feeling fine, no worries....
Hoping you have a sunshine day,,
Susan, received you maple leaf quilt block..spectacular, wow, bit ntimidating for me to try!!
Waving to all
BRAVO Susan. That is wonderful news...hugs to you and your sister.
It is Fabulous Friday...Mary the rain is supposed to blow on through and leave us with lots of sunshine for the weekend. Good thing after those angry little squalls last night.
Have a lovely day All.
As you all know, I don't post but I do read. Every time I go by this computer I check to see if Betty has posted. Betty dear, I have really been worried about you. I know the others have too. I also think you must see another Doctor. Sending love and prayers to you.
I know it sounds silly but I feel I "know" you guys on here.
Here in the mountains of NC we have been having nice and unusual weather. I see it will get down in the 30's at night next Thursday. That is when my family will start to come in. Hugs to all of you.
Betty - I'm glad you got the Maple Leaf Heart block. From the person who gave the world Really Terribly pieced blocks (oh, the # of points that Did Not Even Come Close to matching!!!!!) - if I can do it, Anyone can. It took a lot of ripped apart seams to get to this one. It just takes being persnickety and persevering!
I will continue to make more quilts now that I'm "into" it, and perfect them.
I am putting together a lap quilt for myself, made up of blocks sent to me from friends (in 2009!!) and looked at some of the really lovely work they did. It inspired me! So, I took 15 of the blocks we made at the same time, and blocks I made in my 20's and will soon have the top completed. I'll post when it's done. It's obviously a handmade-with-love quilt, and I will love it more than if I'd done only perfect blocks. I'm inspired by those I've met online that are Crafters (like yourself with your oh-so-beautiful stained glass), quilters, and multi-talented (again, like yourself dear lady!).
My "bent" will be quilting, and I'm going to "throw myself" into it!!
Hello To All ;
Susan... I know you will be a Master of Quilts ! You'll do great at the quilt interview too... I know.
LizH - please keep us in touch. NC I've visited a few times... (Biltmore is what I think of?) Remember a beautiful state....
Jean - YAY! Was worried we'd have rain on Saturday but think it will clear up. Tomorrow will go Rock shopping, Dirt shopping, and plant shopping then come home and play in dirt.
Betty - we worry about you when you don't come to play with us as much. If there is something going on and you can't talk about it then I understand... but just sense that something is 'different'. So still thinking about you and praying... and I'll eat a dern muffin if I have to even though I'm on a diet. (trying to lose lbs before Disney). (Munching on muffin). So just remember how much we love you.........
Long long week. Came home and Hubby had boiled crawfish and heated up the hot tub (er... actually those were SEPARATE, the crawfish were in the kitchen and ..uh... well....) OH YOU know what I mean !
.... AH... this is how it should be....
(HUGS)
Mary
lol Mary - I know what you mean - stepped into the hot tub myself last night - mmmmmmmmmm no crayfish for dinner though LOL
I don't know if they'll care if I'm a quilter, cuz the position is for an Admin Ass't, and I'm sure not a regular visitor of this shop (they're way across town, but I'd go there for a JOB!). I'm looking forward to tomorrow!
Going to be busy - after the interview I have to pop home to pick up home made bread (thank goodness for bread machines) and home made soup! I made Green bean soup, and I'm going to make tomato soup (bought a Whole Bunch of tomatoes in the summer, and froze 'em!) It's for the Cleaning Bee at the church and I had to "shift" the time from 9am to Noon to be Noon to 4 because I want to go to the Job Fair at My Sewing Place!!
It's important to get a job, right? LOL
Hey Susan ! Yes - Loved relaxing in the hot tub but I felt like a puppet after ! Just had to flop inside and flop into the bathtub.... totally floppy. I DO Think they will love that you are a quilter at the interview. I REALLY DO......
Need the Tomato soup recipe. Hubs took me to Jasons Deli for lunch today and I tried the Tomato Basil soup and it was FABULOUS !
Well Mary - it's a very simple soup recipe - if you want basil, or anything else, just add it. It has chunks of tomato in it:
I heat milk to which I have added a quick shake of salt, very little. I heat canned tomatoes(or in this case, I have whole tomatoes I froze) and once they are hot I add a bit of baking soda on the tip of a teaspoon, probably 1/4 tsp. This will froth up a bit. This is what keeps the milk from curdling when I add the tomatoes to the milk. There is more milk than tomatoes. You probably will need to do trial and error. good luck.
Mary - here's another tomato soup recipe that's got a little more to it:
Chilled Tomato Soup
Ingredient
6 large ripe tomatoes, peeled & chopped
2 cups tomato juice
1 clove garlic, minced
4 shallots, thinly sliced
2 ribs celery, chopped
1 medium cucumber, peeled & chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded & chopped
1 Tbsp fresh basil, finely chopped
- pepper to taste -
________________________________________
Directions
In blender, place tomatoes, juice and garlic in batches; process until smooth. Pour into large bowl, add remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
NOTE: Wear rubber gloves when in contact with jalapeno peppers.
Serves 4
Morning or late evening to you all... Busy day yesterday, ended up in bed at 7:30 and now look who can't sleep!
I am fine, so do not worry!!!
Waving Liz
Susan, what great news about your sister..how relieved you must be.
Mary, one of the things I miss about my house on the lake was the hot tub I had in the basement..enjoy rock hunting
Weatherman said maybe a storm, just peeked outside, some Olof ground is covered ..let's hope march isn't going out with vengeance.
Bags are packed, leaving early morning for buffalo so best I get some shut eye!
Enjoy your day..
On my way Betty, see you soon! Drive safe. Snow is all melted here, so that is good.
Debbie
I went to the "My Sewing Room" interview - went well although they said "this job probably pays 1/2 of what you have been getting - isn't it a 'step down' for you?" I said "yes, but once I commit myself, I will do what I promise" They, and I, will think about it. I have to make sure I can still pay the bills on 1/2 wage............
Bob's going there, because they also need a Shipper/Receiver!! His interview is at 12 noon.
Bob couldn't do the job - not a fit. They require much much more computer skills than he has.
The job I went about - they said "This would be a step-back for you, and it likely pays 1/2 of what you were getting". They're right on the pay - few pennies more than exactly 1/2......... Not sure I could survive on 1/2 pay.........
That is so pretty, LK - good luck to you!!
Had a really long day but meeting up with Betty and Ann was just wonderful. Our Betty needs some prayers, can definitely tell it hurts her to even move. She always has a smile on her face, but I can see the pain in her eyes big time.
None of us found any real goodies at the craft show...except DH who got his chocolate covered candies! We did all get Kettle Korn for the trip home though, just love it.
Spent the afternoon doing errands, got home and DD (the child) came over. She has a new job starting Monday, which is a good thing...but needed some professional clothes. She is doing OK on her own, but no extra in the budget so I took her to get a couple pair of dress slacks. She has gone from a size 16 to a size 10/12....and nothing she had really fit at all. Big sister helped with the shirts/blouses so she should be set for a bit.
Taking my contacts out....and resting for a bit.
Debbie
Glad you met up with Betty, hope you gave her hugs from us!
Wow, your DD has lost a lot of weight, good for her!
My prayers are always with Betty........!!
Wow, your DD sure did lose some weight - Good For Her!
Hello To All !
So glad you saw Betty DEB!.... Know you gave her a hug for us all. Prayers Betty I hope you feel better soon...
Wow Deb... how did the Child lose weight? Wish I could send some of my blouses but she'd think they were old person looking probably. Have them in teh car to take to a Consignment shop but the only shop I found demands you bring 25 pieces!
Betty - we enjoyed the rock, dirt and plant shopping today and were home by noon and got a LOT done ....Hoping to head to the April 28th Florabama Swap(Florida/Alabama line)
Susan - thank you for the Tomato soup recipe ! Is this company new? or expanding. Maybe something you could move up into management fairly quickly ?
Hugs,
Mary
The company is expanding, but it's a Quilting shop - sells fabric, etc, like any you would go to and buy fabric.
