Betty, if you need to change the weekend to another time....that is OK. Don't want you to miss out on a fun time. Your call and what is best for you.
Best/Worse/what did I learn today..chat with friends!
Hi everyone!!
Boy Betty, new mothers don't get a year off here in the States, they get 6 weeks, usually unpaid unless they have the vacation built up to pay for it. The father usually takes a few days to a week, again usually unpaid unless he takes vacation.
It was 82* both Saturday and Sunday here, and I mowed the lawn yesterday for 2 hours and I am a cooked little goose, Dave thinks 2nd degree burns!! I feel like a walking oven.
((((((((((((DIANNE and WARREN!!!)))))))))))) So so so sorry about last week, you really did have a tough one! This one will be better.
Debbie, both Ann and I want to do the Hamburg show so it's definately this weekend we are driving over (minus a mother) lol
Must have been in one of the posts I made earlier that I lost because of power outage..did talk to my mom this morning, just what I needed to start the week off.
Said she had been out of bed the last 2 days but not moving very much but some improvement..still waiting for results of ctscan..reminded her ONLY if she was feeling better could she come out Sunday at 4pm to Barrie Marketplace Buffet for Sharon's 60th...said they would come but one would have to sit in the vehicle with the dog...ok, then she said why didn't we do it on Saturday, told her that Sharon's birthday was Sunday so would be nice on that day and besides I was going stateside early Saturday morning..got the , why won't you bring me to Buffalo??? omg she's been ill for past 6 months, last time I took her look what happened..then she said that IF I DON'T want to bring her Jim said he would ..hmmm
Then said the new fireplace heater that I bought for her isn't working, stays on a few minutes then goes off..said she and Jim tried everything..OK, then I'll return it
boy oh boy...made an excuse that Paul was here and had to run lol
Betty does that fireplace have a thermostat?
Iye yey yey girl, if Jim said he would take her then let Jim take her. Sit outside with the dog? She has completely lost her mind. If Sharon wants her birthday on her birthday then she shall have it on her birthday, my goodness.
Hi everyone / I'm back at the internet cafe. Mood somewhat lifted. tony is doing the last kitchen counter. Neighbor Dana had five cobalt blue tiles which was just what we neded to complete the pattern. It will be a huge relief to have the counters done. Now on to the endless (or so it seems) clean up.
No surgery date yet. Also waiting to see if my former friend has been served in Small Claims for our April 19 Court date.
Got my sewing machine up and running this morning. finishing the curtains for the kitchen / living room. Doing lots of dclean up work and making some progress. |Transplanted a bunch of little marigorld into the new garden.
As I've said before, pain just sucks the energy out of me. It's so frustrating to be exhausted after an hour or two and often passed out in the early afternoon. I am thinking that ny post surgery pain should not be much worse than what I'm dealing with now as Diane experienced.
When the kitchen counters are done we can put the living room book shleves back up. Wish tony could do two things at once but I just have to accept that he does a great job on whatever the one thing he is doing is and refrain from trying to get him to do something else simultaneously. Or from rushing him on the work he's doing. My mother was big on telling me that I should have done everything sooner and better. My father used to give me lectures on my inadequacies without getting any information on how |I was actually doing. I think Tony and I both treasure that we are as we are with each other and not controlled by the past behavior of others. If something is less than perfect and this is often the case with my budget, I just pronounce it "rustic." It works for us.
Diane and Warren, hope you are both recovering. I have to be very careful as a fall could be disasterous for me. Friend Tim came by the other day and his partner Lily fell and had to have a plate put on her hip. An orthopedic surgeon came to Santa Rosalia and did three surgeries. She is recovering.
The white daturas that were mentioned earlier grow wild here. I have several brugs but only one has bloomed for me. I need to fertilize them more regularly.
Must pick up a box of chicken legs for the dogs.
i've lost another five pounds. Total of forty gone now.
hugs, katie
Betty - my o my...... Would Jim take her to Buffalo"?
Susan I'm wondering the same thing, I've met Jim and he seems to be exactly like my grandfather and would say whatever my grandmother wanted to hear just to make her stop talking about it, and it worked every time. Wonder if that's what Jim is doing or if mom's just saying that to throw a guilt trip out there.
Katie glad you're getting those counters done, I've learned that you can't accomplish anything if there isn't a mess associated with it. Glad you're gettin' er done! Tony's just a man and they all have one track minds which limits their multitasking ability lol WooHooo on the weight loss!!
From what I've heard about Jim (bringing her over to Betty's, and working on the quilt for her) I'm guessing it's #1 - he's doing it "just to make her stop talking about it" siiiiiiiigh - then he & Betty are "soul mates" lol
Jim is AWESOME!!!!! I love that man, the man is a saint and I have no idea how in the world he handles it.
Here's a funny for y'all:

Good friends are like stars. You don't always see them, but you know they are always there. Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live for today. Now smile!
They must have fixed the bugs in the Internet service, doesn't seem to be a problem accessing tonight..what a weekend it was
Trying to figure out if I've enough energy to warm up left over roast beef/roast potatoes and carrots.
How right you all are, much easier for Jim to go with the flow.
Susan, so laughing, thanks for the post.
Katie, is the doctor not concerned with the loss of weight? Imagine it is some help with regards to carrying it around. Your kitchen will be such a cozy room to be in...major work almost behind you, what pride you must feel seeing the upgrades.
When I found myself with ought a home about 7 years ago I bought a falling down shack, wasn't a weekend that I didn't have somethink planned to upgrade, from laying floors, installing and taping basement drywall to painting downstairs floors, painting headboards in grandkids room because they couldn't understand why the didn't have headboards in their rooms, to making faux fireplaces because I missed the ones I had..sure was an adventure and continues to be so...but, sure like the feeling to see what I managed to accomplish when I thought all was list..humble little house but one that elcomes all who enter...am sure it's the same with you!
Laura, did you go camping this pst weekend?
Hunger won out, time to eat
Sure hope you are able to see this...
Shows you what the Lord is up to

Hello To All !
Wow made my night to see so many folks "Back" and on here ! Betty - Beautiful vimeo - thank you for sharing... reminds one of how gardening mirrors life ....
Susan OMG ! LOVE LOVE THAT !
Betty - wondering with Crissy if Mom doesn't realize that the heater automatically shuts off before it causes a hazard ?
Katie - You sound Marvelous ! Just wanted to say that. Glad you are up and about and getting stuff done. Will be wonderful when the 'negative' stuff is behind you
Crissy - folks coming to work every Monday sunburned ! Please take care ! aspirin and vinegar baths (or Aveeno). Sure you know that....
LK - beautiful picture. Thank you !
Dianne ! DIANNE ! OMG! "Broke his fall" ? this makes me worry. please don't make me worry ! Loved hearing of your shows you would do. I SO admire folks in business for themselves. Always have. particularly as of late. Had a client for years who organized those shows, Steinhauer Productions. Anyway veryinteresting that men would come to one... usually it's the women. Stormy being a German Shepard... That was "my" first Family dog... a GS. "patsy" was like a mother to us....
Difficult to pay the show prices for plants, though, when I've received many of those plants at swaps.....
(not like with art!)
JEAN! Come over and help me pick out a place for the Nuns Orchid! I know - easier 'said than done" with in laws sick. Wish you could though. Do they like good drainage and sun? THink I have a place may try to divide them this weekend.
THANKYOU for the advice.... any more? please dmail me :o)
Betty - Rico (yes Italian named German) did get to visit with the girls. DS is on the "outs" with him for some reason but I told Rico that I was on the outs with DS too.... so don't feel bad. I do hope like your student that he stays in touch. he is in US for 3 weeks just to visit.
Susan - love the funnies ! glad you got stuff done in the bad weather....
I'll pop back in a bit... just happy to see folks...
(hugs)
Mary

N morning, just let the kitties out and brrrr, winds will die down and will warm up today . Rain expected later this week, will help wash the dirt left when winter moved out and green everything up.
Susan the scrap quilt it lovely, even though you don't have to match points it's still a lot of work..someone will be thrilled to get it..is it tied or quilted?
Mary,, DS must be acting up to also have Rico angry with him..perhaps from his talk with the girls he's found out that DS hasn't been treating you well and they have had words!
Should get a coffee and get a move on..trash day and girls are coming today and I've got glass all over as I'm doing another stained glass piece..sooo with hour left lots to do
Gab later
Morning everyone!
Susan, I love those colors! Great job on the quilt!
Good Morning Everyone!!
waving back to you gals..
Just spoke to Darlene, she's at my house with the girls, called to tell me there was a gathering on my back deck lol said that Riley (kittie) brought home 2 strays and all were resting quite comfortably on my new set...going to have to remember to shut screen door.
Bingo night tonight, forget to pick up cards, will have to do so on my way home
So what are you all up to today/tonight, anything exciting..I really do lead a boring life
Not doing much here, guess my body is still tired from the trip? I need to get some fabric cut for a quilt block swap on Facebook.
Betty I would say your life is everything except boring! I think Dave's going to want to go out tonight, I might send him by himself, I need to go out tomorrow night because I took Thurs, Fri, and next Mon off so me and a friend are going shopping on Thurs and we need to talk about what time we want to get up and go LOL
Betty - so far only have the two tops done - will teach myself how to free motion quilt them - should be interesting!! lol
No, your life isn't boring, f'sure!!
I'm piecing another block to put on my other room's swap............ someone that can't do one Needs to be in my quilt, so I offered to piece one of their choice for a RWB block, and will have them write what they want on it/scan/email to me and I will iron-on transfer it. It will be like she sent it to me, but I get to pick the patterns (as long as it's RWB)!
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
MMMMMMMM Thanks for the coffee LK!
slept really late - in bed by 11:30 and now it's after 9:30 - just woke up. Guess I needed the sleep! Lately we'd been going to sleep about 2 to 3 am, and we decided that wasn't a good thing. This being out of work sucks for both of us.
I got a Job Fair to go to at a company called My Sewing Place - Saturday at 8am! They're looking for a Administrative Assistant.
It would be good, wouldn't it, Jean?! lol
They would be enabling my quilting habit lol
helloooooo....................is anybody out there ????

I HAVE COMPUTER :) :D
Sitting here waiting for Judy and Steve to arrive !!!!
a guy at work messed with my laptop and got it going?? don't know how long it will last?? but am ever so happy to have it

((((Thunder))))) YeeeHawwww she is back! Oh you might have been missed a wee bit O:)
Where the heck is Bessie Lou?
Had a rough day....left early for PT again, then to Canandaigua to pick up a computer disk to repair DDs laptop, back home, stomach issues....eyes still a mess...and
I need a nap!
Debbie
Hi Everyone - I'm still at the internet cafe. No word on Court date or surgery appointment. Tony did not work today; he called last night to tell me. I still got up early, put on my mental blinders and did a lot of clean-up. I just rented some DVD's and will work on my curtains when I get home.
In the new garden we have climbing beans that have purple flowers on them. Tony planted them so I'm not sure what they will be except good. I love fresh beans.
Working for a sewing place would be wonderful if you can restrain the buying habit. Being out of work (without retirement income) sucks. Good to keep to fairly normal sleeping hours. One of the many services Tony does for me is to be at my house early in the morning six days a week. He doesn't wake me up if I'm sleeping but I try to get up about the time he gets here.
Read an amazing book called "The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks." Touches on things medical, racial, legal and other. Neighbor Dana gave it to me.
Going home to do sitting-down work and watch DVD's.
Weather is gorgeous. I'm in shorts and t-shirt.
hugs, katie
Debbie - GO FOR A NAP, YOUNG LADY!! lol
awwwww sorry to hear you're having a rough day - I can sympathize! Doesn't help to have to 'babysit' DD's computer.......
Katie - glad you've got flowers on your bean plant!! (I'm soooo jealous of your temps!! lol )
You're right that it's good to keep "normal" waking hours. I think, if I were to get the job at the quilting shop, that I would likely pick up techniques rather than material (I HOPE!!) cuz I have quite the stash as it is lol
We get up semi-early on Sunday am cuz we're in the church choir, but otherwise it seems that as we have nothing to get up for that we sleep in. I know - it's a bad habit to get into.... :-(
Thunder, so glad your back on line!
Katie, sure hope you get a surgery appointment soon, as well as a court date.
((((((Thunder)))))) Welcome Back! We sure have missed you. Give Judy a hug for me.
Katie I enjoyed that book too - amazing story isn't it?
Started out nice but the wind blew up and the temps are dropping rapidly. Forecast of snow overnight. Ugh!
Back in a bit.
Dianne
