***Sweet Interruptions #236***

good morning everyone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good Morning! Coffee is ready!
What is everyone doing today?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning LK!!
I'm on the road to recovery!! Yeah! The power of BJ's command?
Trying to clean up the kitchen today, as it looked as though a tornado had ripped the counters! Maybe get the clothes folded and then maybe later tonight, I may have some energy left to cook!

Anyway, after reading BJ's post on Don's apparent CRS moment (albeit a serious one), I looked for this joke that a friend had sent.

While attending a Marriage Weekend, Joe and his wife Ann listened to the instructor declare,

"It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other."

He then addressed the men.

"Can you name and describe your wife's favorite flower?"

Joe leaned over, touched Ann's arm gently, and whispered,

"Gold Medal-All-Purpose, Isn't it?"

And thus began Joe’s life of celibacy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL! Thanks for the smiles Jaye!

Heather called me last night, and told me she was called and was told to be to the hospital Sunday night at 6:30, as they are going to admit her, giver her something to soften/thin her uterus, then if she has not delivered by Monday, they will giver her a spinal, and induce her. So I will leave here at noon Sunday, and as soon as I see Dylan, and can get to a computer, I promise you will have pictures! 4 days or less I hope!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh boy!!! Anticipation!!
Did you tell her that we have a bet going on? I'm sure she wished to be in it!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, she knows, she says he better not be over 10 pounds! LOL!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LOL My guess of 8lbs 6 oz should be good then!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye funny story, my name would have been James Robert, my dad's name is Robert James. When I came out a girl she didn't have a clue what to name me, so she came up with Michelle, but she didn't want me being called Shelley. My dad came up with Christine, so they named me Christine Michelle and my mom calls me Crissy.

LK Yay! LOL I bet he will be! LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Lots of cake left.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs.
Left over cheesecake and coffee!! Perfect breakfast!

Well, Kel got the cruds, but being he's insured and due for his quarterly check up, he's off to the doctor this morning. So, hopefully the doc will give him the antibiotics and cough syrup that WE both need!!! Knowing Kel, he'd just take the antibiotics for one day...
Ain't it a shame, just to see my doctor, would cost me $120!!! My doctor used to charge $75 until a local hospital bought his practice. Then he was forced to stop dispensing freebies to his clients that aren't insured.
You all can't believe how much I saved when he gave me ALL the heart and cholestrol meds I need.

I always thought it's an exaggeration when Kel told me how much it would cost if I were to be insured, until I met his colleagues' wives. Next month, there will be a 20% increase, and yet, wages haven't adjusted to the cost of living!
If only there's a University hospital, like they do in some big towns, where uninsured can get help very reasonably.
Around here, it's all private, made for profit, hospitals!

Meal for the day is Chicken Soup with Eggs and Tofu. Something simple for the stomach.
Project for the day: SLEEP!!!

Sue dahlin'. Did you get the clients? Won't it be nice if your DD is 'normal' and help you with the housecleaning business? You'd both profit.
Poor you. Well, at least Tim helps with the nursery.
If you're close, I'd buy your eggs. Been blessed that my church sister and Kel's colleague sell them to me. Nothing like organic eggs.

Crissy, where are you heading off to for the weekend?

I know LK would be sewing... or fussing at Dylan to hurry up!!!

BJ, hope you feel better. I've been consciously walking more upright!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, sorry to hear about Kel having the crud! Does he believe you know he is getting it from work?
Yep, I am working on a baby quilt, helps take my mind off of waiting...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, he has no other evidence but that!!! Lolol.
He takes pride in not having missed a day, so, he'll struggle the inconvenience of coughing around his colleagues for the weekend.
He said that the sound of all those coughing from so many, drowned out the P.A. system.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Asking for prayers of comfort please. Our Siberian husky is 15 and has been sick for awhile. We just called the vet to see if she can come to the house and put him to sleep. So hard to do, but know it is for the best for Karoosh! Thanks

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You got them, sis.. great big armwraps too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks so much!

awww LK i m so sorry to hear the news of the beloved pet of yours. wow 15 yrs is a long time and to say good bye is hard.
sending big arm wraps
Cookie and i had a great time. Mexican food and lots of shopping , gossip and hugs to give all back to you . i squeezed her extra good from all of you's.
jaye yep if only i had a normal DD. she could be making bank with me and house cleaning
Hope Kel will take all his meds. Yes this crazy system of ours on insurance ... oh my its a visious cycle.
ipad 3 came out today...... yea i know.... another one again i mean really what else can it do ? .... wipe my butt for me ? is there an app for that ??

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hey guess what Bob found today........ an I-pod in the back of his truck! Battery's all dead on it, and of course there's no charger, so at the moment we can't figure out whose it is, but should be able to find a charger from someone and once charged, find out who it belongs to.
Just what exactly does an i-pod do? And what's the difference between an i-pod and an i-pad?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, I believe an iPod is just for music?
Sue, so glad you got to see Cookie!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LK - if it's just for music, why does it have a screen the size of a blackberry? Would that be for listing the music to choose?
I though only MP3 players were for music - so confused.......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yeah, your right, it shows a list of music you have on it.

Morning everyone.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning.
How are you LK? Is Karoosh still with you or he's laid to rest?
Bet you got plenty of stories to tell of him.

Hey Sue! It must be a long awaited reunion for you and Cookie. Did she look more toned? And has she begin to tan yet?
All these newfangled handheld devices. I haven't even graduated from a basic cell phone, Sue!!

Susan, check this out. Maybe it can answer to what kind of Ipod you have.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod

Kel's was charged $735 yesterday!!! When he wasn't insured it was $300. You can't say the med system don't know how to rip off the insurance.
Being that he didn't have a fever with his cruds, he's not given any antibiotics, just cough syrup.

I didn't have a fever, yet.. so I know now.. if I were to see my doctor, he'd be holding back the antibiotics too.
Anyway, I had a good sleep after taking some of the cough syrup.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Good Morning Peeps.

Susan, an Ipod IS basically an MP3 player... only for music. An Ipad is like a mini computer... you can view videos, watch movies, surf the web, download programs... etc. My granddaughter has one and uses it a lot at college... goes everywhere she goes... she even types her notes in class on it.

LK, I'm so sorry for your loss... my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Jaye, I didn't have a fever either when the crud turned into that sever sinus infection and inflamed throat and glands a couple weeks ago. Doc said you don't always run a fever with an infection. So, just keep an eye on it... and if last more than a couple weeks, you and Kel will probably need antibiotics. Glad you got some cough syrup though, and some well needed sleep.

Well, the doctor talked to me about traction yesterday. Interesting... I don't have to buy a device or anything... it's just a stretching exercise. Of course it involves Don pulling on my head, while I lay across the bed... and since he's gone a lot, I don't know how often that will happen. But, he said what I'm doing is a good one too for when he's out of town. I've not needed the pain pills during the day lately, but I do need one at night... why do all our aches and pains magnify when we lay down at night? It really stinks to get old.

I played poker at the Golf club last night. It's always a good night if I can just break even... but last night I placed 3rd the first tournament, and 2nd in the second tourney... so I actually came home with a little more than I left with. Guess I'm out of poker jail... lets just see how long I can stay out.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

WOW Jaye - What a price!!!!!!! Yeah, they sure DO know how to "sting" the insurance companies.........

BJ - is there anyone else who can help pull your neck for you, friend or neighbour?
Yay for placing 3rd and 2nd in the tourneys! Congrats!!

Yesterday I got my regular meds, and they asked me if I wanted to schedule an app't for a Shingles vaccination. Their countertop brochure said for anyone over 50. I've never known anyone with Shingles, but I hear it's just plain Nasty!.
The brochure she handed me said for anyone over 60! And also if you've had a Chickenpox vaccination (as a child), you're prone to getting Shingles!! oh brother - their cure for something causes other problems down the line........ how "special" is that?!?!?! OH, and the price, if you have insurance I don't know, but for me cuz I don't work and therefore no insurance - $190!! Time two, of course!! Neither Bob nor I are impressed. We do have the regular provincial insurance that everyone has to have, just not additional insurance through work.........

btw - discovered what I have is an IPod Touch - 8g. Either my computer buddy or a friend from church will show me what it looks like - my friend has an ipod and will bring a charger for me to borrow. My computer buddy may supply us with one (he's the one who gave us the laptop, which I used today at my presentation of Glacier National Park at our church).
The presentation went very well - I studied up on Glacier National Park, and found that there were 150 glaciers in the park in the mid 19th century and now (as of 2010) there are only 25 glaciers. It's expected there will be none by 2020!! So, if you're thinking of visiting the park, do so NOW before it's called Glacier-less National Park!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone! yes Jaye, Karoosh has crossed that rainbo bridge!

Bj, congrats on the poker wins!

Jaye, That is a lot of money to pay if you have insurance! WOW!

Susan, an iPod touch is a miniature iPad, it can surf the web, like a computer.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I finally got the baby blanket done. Pictures shows it to be more blue than it is, it is really a green/teal color.

Thumbnail by taters55
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

OH - it can surf the web? That's what my friend said after seeing it, but I guess I would have to pay extra for that, and That I'm not willing to do. Guess I have enough connectivity with my home computer and cell phone lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You can hook up wi fi in your home, and use that!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

huh? hook up wi fi? Now you're trying my intelligence LOL please don't do that to an aging brain.......... LOL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Susan, it will surf the web anywhere you go that has wifi available. It's built into the ipod touch to connect when you turn it on. It would be a nice thing to have when you are away from home and can get to some free wifi hot spot. A lot of restaurants have free wifi... I know McDonald's does.

LK... that's a beautiful baby quilt. So, are you going to San Antonio tomorrow? I'm so excited for you becoming a grandma again.

Thanks everyone... I play twice a week, and haven't won a touney in several months... that's called being in poker jail... although, I think having that long of a loosing streak it's called Poker Prison.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

OH - then I suppose at the campsite I could "hook up" cuz they have free internet. There's a desk near the laundry room where you can plug in your laptop............... oh geeze here I go again, promising to get out of nature and go inside to get "connected" ROFLMFAO

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, I am going to San Antonio tomorrow, and as soon as I get to a computer, I will let everyone know when he arrives!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay - c'mon Dylan!! Come out and play with grandma!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, it is beautiful! Great pattern there, nothing girly!
Dylan's first of many quilts. Alrighty granma, make sure you don't hyperventilate when Heather's in the delivery room.
Out of that $735, OOP is only $30. Imagine that.

Good for you BJ. Your 'mojo' has return! They can't imprison a good player for long.
Kel's colleague who lives 1/4 mile away from the house holds poker nights on the Wednesday nights they're off. He turns down the invitations as he rather watch tv!!

Susan, I never heard of Shingles vaccination here. That's interesting about the later drawbacks on Chickenpox vaccination.
How much does your provincial insurance cost?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Our provincial insurance is a one-time registration, no cost - no yearly fees or anything..
It doesn't cover everything, obviously, like dental, etc. It does cover necessary things, and is not available for anyone outside of Alberta. This is the way to keep our hospital system costs down and from being used by other than Albertans.
And we don't have a provincial tax (like your state taxes), only a Federal one.

It says, right on the Shingles brochure "Approximately 95% of Canadians have had chickenpox and are therefore at risk for shingles." also "Shingles is the same virus that causes chickenpox. f you've ever had chickenpox or the chickenpox vaccine, you are at risk"

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Hmmm... once you've had chicken pox, you can't get it again... or so I understand.
So, if you've had shingles before, can you get it again too?
Cause, I had shingles down my left leg when my youngest son was born... it was horrible. I couldn't stand anything touching me... so, no panties, no clothes. no sheet... and I was in a hospital... LOL... but it was very painful... I do hope I can't get it again.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Here's what it says in the brochure:
"What are the complications of shingles? Shingles can lead to potentially debilitating health complications. The pain associated with the rash has been described as burning, throbbing, stabbing or shooting pain. For most patients, this pain lessens as the rash heals. For some, however, shingles can cause severe pain for months or even years after the rash has healed. This long-term pain is called postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) and it can interfere with normal day-to-day activities such as walking, sleeping, and social activities.
For many people with PHN, even a breeze or the touch of clothing brushing against the skin can cause severe pain. Other potentially serious complications from shingles include bacterial skin infections, scarring, a decrease or loss of hearing or vision, or muscle paralysis. Some people may need to be hospitalized and in rare cases shingles can even result in death."

"What causes Shingles? Shingles, also known as zoster, is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. Once you've had chickenpox, the virus remains in your body but may stay inactive for years. If it becomes active again, it can cause shingles. It is known that the risk increases as we get older; however, there is no way to tell when the the virus will become active again."
