Foxglove is starting to bloom.
Every year I let the flower stalk to make seeds and I just flick them in the garden ... they come back every year.
This year some seeds flew all the way to the back garden ... weee

I got Lady in Red Sage at last year's RU and it is over 5 ft tall? I had no idea it was this big. Ive never seen a sage that big before.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Maybe you got a Red Mountain Sage?? I got one last spring and it got very tall.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Do you have Lady in Red? If so, how tall is yours?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

My Lady in Red died when it got cold.

Arlington, TX

Most of mine reseeded. I got lady in red, a pinkish one and have had the "reg." kind. Most seemed to have survived our mild winter though usually they do die. I got a lot of seedlings and I ma curious to see what color they are.

Cheryl, how tall are the Ladies supposed to get?

Arlington, TX

I think mine topped out at about 2.5 feet - 3 ft.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

I wonder what in the world is this that I have.

Arlington, TX

It might just really like the conditions at your place better. Take a pic of it and maybe we can figure it out. There are a lot of plants that look similar. I find that S. coccinea has a very odd smell and I don't like it. Does your plant's leaves have a strong odor?

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

I'll have to check. all my sages have a strong odor. And some ARE nicer than others. I'll get a photo tomorrow and do a sniff test.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Drthor, that was quite a show of color. I have heard "experts" say to treat foxglove like an annual, and to forget about seeds. I bought Camelot variety last year and it didn't come back but it is good to know it works for some people.
Those iris are stunning. Post #9064136 the purple one looks electric!
My Lady in Red grows to about 2 feet. It is possible that yours was mislabeled. I have been guilty of of trading away Raspberry Mondarda instead of Jacob Cline.Ofcourse, Maybe that Houston weather can bring out the BIG.

Irving, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks
I have foxgloves every year ... I just let them reseed

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

stephanietx - Oh yes......my DH built that golf green before anything else.

I just planted some Foxglove seeds......do they bloom the first year?

Arlington, TX

I thought the large garden foxgloves were biennials?
