Cedar Wax Wings birds arrived today and they ate all the berries.
At least 100 birds each tree
March 2012 blooms
I love it each spring when all the different birds arrive. We usually get at least one or two baltimore orioles...they are my favorite

The picture was taken five minutes before the cold front moved through, after which I quickly left.
Good timing on the pics...I am sure Howard Garret would have done the same!
Great shots of the blooms hrp50. Sounds like good timing for sure. I bet a lot of those tulips lost their petals in the rain. As for loading five pics, I had problems as first also. In the blog admin says to resize your pictures if you are having problems. Plus it just takes a while for that many to load. fb it is not!
Drthor, I especially love the cedar waxwings in your fountain. They are such a communial bird.
All lovely shots. My Columbine is just forming buds now....can't wait.
Is that last one salvia coccinea or Texas betony? My betony is in bloom, but my salvia is barely coming up yet.
TX betony, thats it - Stachys coccinea. Sorry I didn't think of salvia coccinea. Mine is growing but no blooms yet either.

That Texas betony sure is pretty, I love the color and it is blooming now here too.
One common name for Salvia coccinea is Scarlet sage, but it goes by many names;

Chery you lucky girl I love the Shooting Star and have been wanting it for a long time, how did you do it?
I bought seeds but it didn't work for me.

I love your BULBINE. Could you tell me a little bit about this plant, please?
I think I need to go check on my betony. I noticed it had spread, but I haven't seen it blooming yet!
Josephine,
I mail ordered it last spring. They didn't have the pink one but I like this one too. They are so slow from seed, if you get them to germinate and I am not patient so I bought a plant.

drthor-just a south african native that likes dry and hot, so works well here. They are usually thought of as annuals here but can come back if the winter is mild or they get some protection. Bloom is pretty much all summer.
