March 2012 blooms
Really beautiful, everyone! drthor, I have Don Juan on my pergola. Not blooming yet but looking healthy.
What beautiful flowers!!!
drthor, I have seen orange bulbine at Lowes for ~$4.They also have bigger pots for more $.
I bought one of those for 4 bucks, when it opens its really more yellow than orange but its a nice difference to the lemon yellow ones I have.

thanks bananna18
Is BULBINE a perennial?
for sun or shade?
Full sun and it can be a perennial if the winter is mild enough or it gets some protection. Many winters are too cold and they die. They are semi hardy I guess.

thanks ... I think I MUST have BULBINE ...
That salvia has been blooming on & off all winter. I think it was confused. LOL
drthor - your Columbine pics are stunning.....beautiful flower.....did you plant from seed?
thanks morganc
yes I did seeded this Nora Barlow Columbine a few years ago.
After the flowers are gone, I normally let the seeds develop and when they are ready I just throw them around in the garden.
I am really impressed how well Columbine does here, I have it in many places around the garden front and back ... it did all the "walking" it by itself ...
Does the foliage disapear quickly on the columbines?
My Columbine leaves are green until the first freeze and they pop out really fast after that.
I love Columbine's foliage.
I just took some more pictures this morning. OMG every day is so exciting at this time of the year.
I found in bloom a beautiful Clematis, more roses and irises ... I will post pictures later, I am on a run.
Sorry ... it was a while ago.
I cannot grow Lavender ... yours is beautiful
My lavender always dies too, what is your secret? I have tried all kinds including spanish lavender.

When I dig the hole I fill it 1/2 with expanded shale. I don't mulch it
Had to jump in with a couple fun blooms. My yellow Christmas cactus doesn't want to quit, this one opened this morning. Swallowtails have found my citrus trees and the one I am most proud of, my dragonbones is starting to bloom! I have had this for 10 or 12 years started from a pinch off a friend's. Never seemed really happy till this year and is growing leaps and bounds.
I have a bougainvillea that has been blooming to some degree for a year now. Currently it has more blooms than leaves, I think. It is Juanita Hatten. I had a hard time finding anything that could thrive in the front with the full sun all day, surrounded by bricks and pavement. This plant does it. I'm sorry if the pictures are blurry, I have a new wide screen monitor and it's hard for me to tell if the pic is blurry or the monitor is just stretching the image.
Also I have quite a few brugs that are blooming. This one is Ember Glow.
what is the name of the crossvine? Lovely photos all of you.
Crossvine (Bignonia capreolata)
Isn't beautiful ??
