March 2012 blooms
Outstanding bloom and design
Thanks ... my style of gardening is "Italian" just like my grandmother Nonna Maria's garden in Padova (Italy).
One flower here ... one there ... and lots of love
You do a great job Drthor, by the way, what is your real name? I hate calling you drthor.
Josephine.
drthor, I think that is Jerusalem Sage. Mine is just starting as well. Those blooms are wonderful.
thanks bananna18, I have updated the picture.
stephanietx: ooohhhhhhh that must be the first Monarch of this year ... very nice ...
Look who visited my garden: GERONIMO !!
I have only one squirrel (I think) ... he is so cute.
He only eats those seeds and nothing else.
You can see he is really comfortable ...
Stephanie, I had a monarch yesterday too, it looks like yours had been on a long journey.
I had a monarch yesterday as well, but couldn't get to my camera fast enough. Maybe it was the same one! This one was all over the salvia.
drthor - all your flowers.......and your squirrel, are just lovely. Would love to see an "overall" shot of your yard.
yakmon - I love the vivid red of your phlox. I have some pink, but have never seen the red for sale around here.
We have been focusing on veggie planting recently, so this ornamental goes with that theme.
Thanks morgan, that phlox must be native, I didn't plant it, just popped up in the right place! I have never seen it for sale either. What kind of bloom is that in your picture? Looks like a sci-fi bloom.
Love all the photos, drthor!
Keep them coming.
Russell
They sure are pretty Cheryl.
Cool! Where did you get them? I tried to grow some from seed but had no luck.
Very different looking!
Cheryl, those are so unique looking!
Cheryl, really pretty. Ive never seen so many in one place and Ive never seen blooms!
I mail ordered them Dennis. Mine have survived with almost no attention. All they need is sun and distilled or rain water to keep them going. As long as they don't dry out they are fine. They survive the cold and actually do better when the winter is a little colder. You can find them as plants in Home Depot etc but they need to be repotted as the medium they are in is usually not suited for them.
I have these and they do very well here: venus fly traps, Saracennia purpurea ssp. venosa, S. hybrids (Judith Hindle) and drosera filiformis (never bought but it started growing in my pots, assuming seed was in the sphagnum moss)
I love poppies and I never thought you could grow them here. I definately need some. Are those oriental poppies Stephanie?
C
I don't have a clue! I got seeds from Sheila several years ago and have been tossing them out in the fall ever since.
They look large enough to be oriental.
