Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..

Good Morning everyone!!

Decided to come to work and I have to say that we have a dusting of snow and even though it was snowing and sleeting a bit, the roads were completely dry and it was literally the easiest drive to work I've had in my 4 1/2 years here, and the first time I haven't been my usual 10 minutes late in months! LOL!!!

Betty LOL!! This is all Dave's side of the family, it's his mom and dad, his mom was wife #1. It seemed to have all gone downhill from there!

My mom is doing about the same, she had the L4 and L5 discs fused in her back, I don't think she needed it done but whatever, it moved her pain from her pelvic area to her lower back and right leg. She got the medical books out yesterday and was all upset and crying because she has everything that's in the book. I told her to put the stupid book away, that's why we don't read those!!

Me and Dave have a landscaping business we do now and then when we need the money, that's the easiest thing to manage I've ever seen, and my dad's girlfriend does our taxes so we don't have to worry about that either. Owning a business isn't that big a deal, we're not talking gas station or grocery store, we just got a business license and put the name and Dave's phone number on the back of his truck and away it went, it's actually fun and I get to design and help build gardens and get paid for it!!

Debbie it is his fault, he is a parent too and good grief my mom would have made me do without, I've heard it before, "If you forget it it's your fault, you're an adult and will be treated as one, you kids don't grow up unless you take responsibility on your own and I refuse to babysit adults." hahahahahaha!!!! She stuck to this too, I was on my own alarm clock in preschool, got myself up and bathed by the time I started kindergarten, oh yeah, I had to handle my own, probably why I have such a hard time now.

Debbie - how awesome of you to take "mom".
Betty - even knowing someone will take her should help, everytime you get annoyed at your mom (and bless your heart, it will be Many Times.....) you can always think "soon she will be Debbie's problem, not mine" and that should help LOL

Crissy - "your own" what? kids? Grandma wouldn't babysit?!?!

LOL that it might do Susan..Debbie will not be laughing when next we meet at Cracker Barrel and mom has her suitcase with her..lol

Still working on your book project Susan? Did Bob go for the interview??? you are behind re time zone so perhaps he hasn't been yet.

Keep checking for news of Inuk's loss or win and not posted.

Think I'll go upstairs and see if I've the making for scalloped potatoes..DIL had them last night for supper and they were delicious, now I've a hankering for that and turnip

Bob just got home from his interview - he asked the boss to show him what needed to be done (organize all the bays in the warehouse) and the boss was pleased with that.
Boss has another interview this afternoon and will let Bob know (he's a consideration of Three interviewees). The one this afternoon is the last one. He will let Bob know one way or another.

Hahahahaha Susan!!!! And IF I had kids no she would not! She has made it very clear throughout my life that she didn't 'want' me, happy she does now, but she was on birth control when she got pregnant and had her tubes tied the very second she could after having me. Betty she still tells me that story, about once every 4 months or so, she always has. She was glad she had me once she had me but she would have never ever ever thought of having another, she's a straight up career woman.

Lol, Crissy when you live alone no reason to get dressed..a must for work but at home and it's winter, why not be all copied up I'll stay in nightly...besides I'm always into something that messed up my garm..infact yesterday was soldering..two little balls rolled off the project onto pant leg which now have 2 holes in them..when I paint 1/2 the time I've more on me than the project I'm painting..

I find I can work and accomplish so much more when m comfy!!

Betty I know how that is! If I would have stayed home I would have been in my sweats all day and doing exactly what I did here, which is nothing! Kind of wondering why I came in.

Does that mean most of your coworkers took notice of inclement weather?
Remember when I worked in Midland for RCA' a blizzard would roll in, I lived nPort Severn, 1/2 hr away, I'd make it in and those living around the block would call in saying roads were too bad!!

Morning, guess I could have stayed home today..all by my lonesome..guess the crew didn't have the holiday they had hoped for...

Getting on the plane Wilena (Paul's wife who was unwell the week before travelling) twisted her leg..needed wheelchair getting off plane, Paul had to find wheelchair and cane) then my niece's husband Phil who is from the Islands and just got back last week due to his Grandmother (who raised him) got a call the 2nd day to say she had passed on..worked on getting a flight out to no avail..had to fly back to Canada then fly to the islands.. then Suzanne's husband Lenny complained of a sore on his foot, last 3 days he could not walk,so Suzanne is at emerge with him..then their flight should have arrived at 10:10pm and didn't arrive until 4:30am..wow, glad I did not go!!!


Meant to add...I'll put on lbs. with those treats..

Sounds like everyone has their share of woes...good thoughts and prayers to them all. My half-brother's wife in Texas just passed away..sad but at least now she is pain free. had a stroke a couple years ago and since then 4 brain surgeries for tumors...the fifth one was inoperable and slowly sapped away her life. She is finally at peace.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Sending these wishes from DH's laptop. Yep you got it Betty I have inherited the laptop.He just doesn't seem interested but I think maybe it just moves too quickly for him right now.

Thinking of Bob Susan - hope the guy who interviewed him doesn't keep him hanging. I hate that and it is just not fair when you are anxious about getting work.

Crissy it was interesting what you and then Betty said about getting to work on a stormy day. Same thing happens here - everyone who lives out here in Verona and north manages to make their way into work and then those close by call in saying roads too bad to drive in.We had a friend once who left early as the weather was so bad but ended up 10 min late. He was docked pay but those who didn't bother to walk 5 blocks were given a paid holiday that day. Just not fair!

Mary you must have felt lonely here on the night shift. I kept trying to get on here but things just kept getting inte way.

Last night I received my regular blast from Fabricland saying almost everything in store is 40% off 3 days only..knowing she wants to do that rage quilt thought I'd tell her to wait to purchase fabric until Thursday and wish her Happy valentines day..

told her about the sale, 'why would I need a sale, can't make them anyway' ok

then said how marvellous it was that Inuk won Best of Breed 'wins every year, what's so special about that, didn't win the big one' ok

said I had to run, with this being first day back had lots to catch up on (white lie)..

bet you are all soooo tired of me comlaining about mom...maybe that is why I scared you all off...

You all, there is nothing unfair going on here. When there is inclement weather the Governor may issue one of two inclement weather policies: either a whole inclement weather day, or a 2 hour delay inclement weather day. Here in Arkansas it only takes an eighth of an inch, and usually less, of any type of frozen precipitation to shut the whole state down; schools, businesses, offices, banks, everything. Yesterday, because the storm didn't get here until 8:00am and was going to be gone and melted by 2pm with hardly any accumulation, there was no inclement weather policy put into place, so everyone had to be here, and everyone was, except for one person who lives just as far away as I do but in a different direction, her 2 year old daughter has Croup so that might be the reason. My boss, who lives in the same town she does, called me and asked me if I was going to drive in or stay home, I was half way to work when he called but I know I can ALWAYS call in and say I'm not driving in it and he's fine with that. The news said it was a very dry snow and the roads were completely dry so I knew I'd be fine, plus because this hit in the morning all of the schools and day cares were closed which kept a lot of parents home, so because of that there was no traffic. It was my choice to drive in and it was my choice to sit here and not do anything all day, I have tons to do if I want to do it.

Betty I am sooooooo happy Inuk won again, very very beautiful dog!!!! That's horrible about their vacation, just plagued with problems, bet you are glad you didn't go! Sheesh!!!

LOL Mary!! Sounds good but noooooooooo we never bought extra, that's how you end up spending all of your profit and possibly going bankrupt, you buy exactly what the customer wants, or better yet, you tell the customer what they need and they go buy it themselves, then we would plant it, the money is in the labor. If we ever did buy too much we returned it and got our money back.

I baked a devils food cake last night so when I get home I'm going to ice it with devil's food icing, Dave's working 10hr days for who knows how long so he'll probably get home after I do. TeeHeeHeeHee

Betty we're never tired of hearing about your mom, she has found another nitch to notch you about and she will keep on as long as she thinks she's looking good. When you start ignoring this she'll find something else, eventually she'll run out of things, you would think anyway.

LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!!! OMG No Betty, no pets! I didn't say this, but the Governor's weather policy is only good for State offices. All the different businesses have their own weather policies, and some don't have any at all, and all the school districts have different weather policies, it just depends upon where you work. I saw one school district had a 2 hour delay, putting the kids and teachers there at 10am instead of 8am. If the storm starts at 8am and doesn't end until 2pm and 2 hour delay is just going to make things worse. DUH!!!

Not feeling good at all, getting the childs cold I believe. Have had a two day headache and entire head is just sore. Feels sinus type, am on an antibiotic for sinus, can't take ibuprofin....but am taking tylenol. Not touching it.

Goodness, so many sick this time of year! Debbie, hope your feeling better soon! Betty, your not bothering us with your complaints of your Mom, You have to vent somewhere, why not here? We don't do much for Valentine here, maybe a card, and sometimes we go out for dinner. But I have told him, if he gets flowers, it better be a plant. I don't like cut flowers, when a plant will last for ever.

Ahh Crissy, thought you wanted another 'kitty'

3-2-1 cake

Mix:
1 box (any flavor, any brand) 18 oz. dry cake mix
1 box angel food cake mix
pour contents of both in a gallon zip lock baggie, and shake well.

-To make 1 cake:
3 Tablespoons dry mix
2 Tablespoons water
-Mix well, pour into a coffee mug and microwave for 1 minute.
-serve as is, sprinkled with a little powdered sugar (you could stencil a heart or whatever), whipped topping, fresh fruit. Anything extra added like mini chips or a glaze will add to the calorie count.

Now doesn't that sound yummy LindaKay, did you try it? Bet you are staying close to the telephone incase Heather calls..hmm baby born Valentines Day, that would be special.
