Well, I guess I spoke too soon. We woke up to freezing rain this morning. Temps dropped to about 33 and what mess! I will post pics later.

Cathy just called, was on her walk..8 deer in my backyard..she was on her walk, by the time I went to get camera plowman was here and they rushed off..will have to keep camera upstairs..

I almost had to make that trip last night. Andy called at 10:30 to tell me her contractions were down to about 3 minutes apart, and by the time he got home from work to take her in they stopped. So he called me at midnight and said not yet...

Ooooh, she missed Judy's birthday, now she has to wait until the 2nd. Lol

If it warms quickly for you likely the ice will melt and you could still make the trip!

Mom just called, shaking my head, was having a nice morning..said my sister put a lot of the rows she sewed together and rag quilt done..however, she will leave the quilt with my sister because now she can't say she made it..wants to make another but can't now because she screwed pattern up a bit..just know she was waiting for me to say come here and I'll show you but I did not...I'm being a b%#€h!!

I actually did know 3 people at the Gala... was surprised..... Yes a lot of Mardi Gras Balls and parades going on now... but the gala was a benefit for Heart Health (around Valentines Day theme)

We'll do our usual Mardi Gras thing next Saturday morning.....

LK - now I Call that SNOW! (Or Sneaux here in Louisiana). Let our northern friends chuckle ! LOL

Just saw a special on Glen Campbell. he has alzheimers now. He was my first "Concert"... Mom and Dad took us to Lake Tahoe to see him at Harrahs... I was 7.

Betty, I am never too far away...I feel like I have known you all for years...grin I will always be a bit of a "lurker" ...just kinda "shy" that way...LOL

Glad you had a good birthday Judy...know you have been head over heels busy, but couldn't let your B'day slip by without saying hello and sending hugs.

Mary, I lived in Baton Rouge from 1975 until we moved out to Galvez in 2001. That would be 10 minutes away if ya stay away from I-10...grin By the way, prednisone is a steroid used to reduce inflammation and should be taken exactly as directed...it works to help reduce swelling in the bronchioles and help clear the lungs...among other things.
Just about everyone I know here has had this strange cold...mine started right after Christmas and has finally reduced itself to the occasional cough.

We didn't have snow here...but was 28 degrees at sunrise...way too cold for these old bones...and I have irises starting to bloom.....didn't see any frost this morning so maybe they will be okay.

Looking at the clock, drats and more drats, thought I had a roll of solder in reserve, must have used it with all the projects I've done of late, at a stop on the piece I'm doing for me until I get some..guess I could run to town and get some but I'm on the lazy side..roads have been cleared so that wouldn't be a problem.

Could clean up and set project aside and get back to some sewing..you know where that gets me though, a 3 yr. piece

So Betty have you settled on what you are going to do today? My goodness you were quite the social butterfly flitting around yesterday. Does one good sometimes to do that - makes up for all the times you stay in and are wishing you were out somewhere.I always think 'why does this happen to me' I've sat at home doing nothing for days at a time and then Boom I have a day where there are too many things to fit in.

LK hoping Heather can hold off till the weather co-operates for you.Sending positive thoughts for a safe, uneventful birth for Dylan Marley.

taters/Linda, we have replied to a few of the same threads before..here and there. I tend to do most of my posting in Plants ID, and Photos and the Australian forum...My DD lives in Brisbane and I have made some on-line friends there also. It is so easy to lose track of time here, so I have to kinda limit myself...grin

I enjoy looking at and reading about all of your projects...you are all so talented.

Hopefully last night's freeze didn't get this one...the last freeze killed the buds on my yellow one a few weeks ago.

Mary, DH & I both had the flu shot. The child "used to" get it every year, now she refuses. Now she will learn MAYBE why she should get it...but I doubt that. I had my flu shot while I was in the hospital/rehab as they do everything to fight flu in there before it starts.

We had a few more inches of snow last night, temps are very cold it is 19 out. DH is out "playing" with the shovel and snowblower.

Dianne, did you get dumped on with more snow? Izzy is having a ball. How is Warren, is he resting well?

Betty, keep that camera handy...would love to see the deer.

Moon - Thanks for the info on prednisone... that's exactly what I need it to do.... We had a few iris bloom last week but not the purple one like yours... how pretty.... you are Soooo close... we probably know some of the same people. I get my hair 'did' in Galvez every 6 weeks....

Betty - go check those numbers... if you won you can make it in time for the Weekend... which is the Biggest weekend ! What are you getting the boys for Valentines? I have no clue what to get DH but I already told him not to get me anything... since my Christmas pressie was so $$.....

Mary, I am just a couple miles from Elaine's on 44, but in the last couple years we have had a half dozen new salons crop up. I will cover my plants again before sunset also, but want to take advantage of all this sunshine to help warm the soil. Glad you had a good time at the Heart Assn gala.

Well, put the white eyelet bed skirt in oxyclean and washing it, not sure how it got so dirty other than Sailor laying beside the bed...will go to Quilts Etc on my lunch hour this week, they are sure to have one, if not will wait for my next rip to Buffalo. I dropped a whole container of oxyclean on kitchen floor, guess top wasn't on properly, what a mess

Just got back from Greg's, lovely meal, have to say Melanie is a good cook. Boys were getting into homework, Greg had to go to Midland to get his men organized for tomorrow's trip to the ships so decided to come home...Sophie and Ned wanted to come home with grandma! Lol. am sure Sailor appreciates that I didn't bring them home..lol

Greg and Melanie are taking Wednesday off, taking the boys to see a hockey game in Buffalo, Noah's favorite team New Jersey is playing Buffalo..they will spend the night and come home Thursday..gift for Noah as his birthday is the 24 th and Greg will be in Newfoundland. Snowmobiling..

You're right, Mary - it's not why I do this......... and perhaps it's prideful of me to be mentioning it here. I'm not the only one helping with this, although I am the librarian and feel a sense of love of doing this for the LORD's house.

I'll tell you a sweet thing that our Pastor said to me today - He asked me how Friday went, and all I could think about was the Celtic Choir we joined Friday night. He'd said on Monday that he was praying for Bob & I re: jobs, and I had forgotten about the job "issue". I said to him that I'd frankly forgotten about it because "I feel I'm in GOD's grace". He said "You inspire me, Susan". Now, wasn't that sweet of him to say?

It was Susan... and it makes me think that as you and Bob are SUCH hard workers and recognized as such...

Maybe you should both look into being Business owners..... Think about it..... you are proactive and focused and a very hard worker..... Perhaps there is something you all could think of that you would enjoy....owning a business.....

Debbie - I know what you mean... sometimes when I get a Headache like that I just have to drink a Coke and it does the trick......

The same thing was said to us by a friend at church today, Mary - and my answer was a resounding NO! Working on commission is difficult enough, if you have a client-base (ask anyone who started a business from scratch, with little or No capital), but if you're our age (58 & 62 - well, next month we will be lol) then it's doubly difficult.
Alberta is an Oil & Gas province, and so many Albertan (and others) small business fail in the first year - Plus, I don't like having to worry about Income Tax...........
We also don't have enough business savvy to keep a business going. So, NO, can't do it, Mary................
We're really very good at helping those who are "on top" to stay there, and very good at customer service. Just don't want to have to "live" our business either - want to go home at the end of the day.
Guess maybe we're too near retirement age to not want benefits lol

Understandable... Susan... yes would be a huge venture... well I suppose maybe there may be more jobs out there soon with the new year....I suppose it isn't for everyone..... and you all have definitely put in your time...and just need to get something stable until it's time to retire......

He used to be a sub-contractor in construction, and he was taken in by 3 different bosses - one walked away with $5K of Bob's pay......... and so the story goes....... My Bob is so trusting that he should not go into business. Someone would take advantage of him, for sure. And I don't feel like being a watchdog lol lol lol

That is about perfect weather, do you spend much time outside? You would have to take advantage of gardening without humidity wouldn't you?

My summer road trip might be end of July and have been thinking, humidity probably at its worse then? When we went last year it was late May and hit tornado season, guess no time better than any other.

Got another 2 rows of Christmas quilt ready to sew and stipple quilt, time consuming but I've been playing with stained glass lately and left it so now to get back in the sewing groove.

Will have to see if I can access NYC Westminster dog show at 10-10:30 to see Inuk compete..Sharon isn't very optimistic this year, neither she or Grahmie the trainer like the judge. Here's hoping!

I am in a horrible mood, woke with a headache and finding EVERYTHING I packed for DS....who left with his father at 4:30 this mornign....still where I packed it. That boy forgot everything....including his SHOES! Yes, must have stumbled out of bed, into the car, in his loafer slippers. He isnt' coming home this weekend...so one of us will have to drive up there. Grrrr!!!

The Child is feeling better, why you ask? Because she had to go to school and pick up her check.....so she went out with wet hair at 9:00. Do they EVER learn? Nope!

very very upset, seems Sharon to told her to knit, crochet, cross stitch but she does NOT want to do any of those things, it's playing on her mind, she wants to do rag quilts..if we help her then she cannot say she did it because she didn't and she can't.

Sooo asked her what she wants to do, make another..YES
How can she make another she says when this one is messed up...so I say well then don't make another..

So make them..m ok,m2nd issue, then that means I will have to buy the board and the cutter?? That is expensive when I only want to make a few...

By now other than hanging up I'm getting frustrated..

Them mom buy the material, come here and I'll cut them for you then you can sew the 'x's and rag..not good enough..Said that is not where the problem is, it's getting a pattern done..

I said that Sharon when she gets back from NYC will fix the quilt so patter is ok..doesn't want it because she wants to give it away saying that she made it, not her daughter..

Sooo I say in order to get off the telephone before screaming and losng it 'then when you have all the squares done come and I'll make sure you get the pattern right.'

No sooner did I say that did she say ok we'll do that..that's what she was waiting for me to say..

End result, she will pick up material and likely will be at my door on Saturday!

Omg she'll catch the death of a cold..know who will drive to Rochester..hope you have clear sky for the drive..how on earth could you forget your shoes.. Hmm next time have him put his bags in the car the night before leaving!

Betty, this stuff will weigh WAY too much to ship to him. It is a quesadilla maker, a big stack of books, a bunch of tea & teapot, and his.....shoes!

I will probably pack it up and send it with DH on Wednesday. He can shoot down after work quicker than I can. And it is part his fault not making sure he had all his bags with him. yeah, thats it...its DH's fault too. lol

Paul has his physical tomorrow....say a prayer as I think he has an issue with BP and something else going on, could be stress finally catching up to him...but I have this feeling. Perhaps that is why the headache!

Betty, Send me Mom. I can't make rag quilts....but...I will take her for you. Can you get her a simpler pattern, maybe with just two fabric designs and alternate them? That is what I would do...and probably will do when I make mine! lol

Will add Paul to my prayers Debbie..they will not operate if blood pressure is high! Yep, sometimes stress is dealt with when events are happening but they sure have a way of creeping up at a later date.
