Yum! (Except the lobster.)
What's for dinner?
Actually the lobster was my least favorite, mostly because it was a bit over cooked.
Smothered pork chops, loaded mashed potatoes, steamed carrots and buttermilk biscuits.
we had Italian for Randy's Birthday.. and I bought cupcakes from a shop in town that was on cupcake wars.. now I know this will sound bad but I know my red velvet recipe from my friends mom.. puts that cupcake to shame.. even with me not being a huge baker... and only made it a half dozen times.. but wow I was underwhelmed .. I now understand why they didn't win the challenge.. and hate to say it.. so far out of the 2 we tried.. I like the cake from our A&P bakery better then those
"Not Your Mom's Meatloaf", Asparagus, Avacado&Lettuce salad.
meatloaf is what Randy wants today
We are meeting DH's sister and hubby after church today for dinner. We'll each travel about 40 miles to the meet-up place.
Swedish meatballs, noodles, succotash, & cucumbers with fresh dill.......
Chinese
Hope Randy had a great day!
he did... but no meatloaf ... will make it today.. my Dad stopped by and dropped off perogies from his town.. they were already cooked and I couldn't pass on them
Yesterday my brother & his GF Debbie came for dinner and a few games of dominos. :) We had seasoned baked chicken, pasta w/garlic & herbs, steamed broccoli, rye bread, and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
yum!!
I'm moving to Maine!

Spiral ham that was WAY too salty.....I have to get this salt out of my system...never gonna be able to get any rings on my fingers tomorrow I'll be so swollen
Not a fan of spiral ham.
I usually like it but this is the 2nd time we've had 1 that was WAY too salty, this one that we bought and 1 my sil bought
that's why I like making the hock piece.. I know it takes forever.. but it's worth it
meatloaf, mashed potatos and lima beans
Going to try the "Dukan Diet". All me relatives are having great success with it. My SIL is the head strength trainer at UPENN and his students and clients are having the same success. So, for the next 5 days it will be all low fat (and no fat carbs). Five days doesn't seem as bad as that Atkins diet requirement.
Good luck, Roses! Having beef stew tonight.....
Problems with any type of elimanation diet is once you start adding food back in you usually gain the weight back.
Gotta watch those low fat foods, usually add more chemicals and sugar to make it taste better
and why do you have to be on a diet, Terri? You look great!
This diet introduces all foods after a very short time. I do better on lowfat foods because of a severe reflux problem. I'd rather cut out the fat than stay on those proton pump inhibitors every day. I need a diet to lose the 30 pounds that I gained since retired and moved here. It would definitely relieve the pressure on my old bones.

Check the ingredients for carrageenan major contributor for any gi problems
Exercise!!
I have a problem with butter, cheese, any fats and a full stomach. Need to eat many small meals each day to counter act the effects of a hiatal hernia. I have done a bad job avoiding what I need to do and am tired of the discomfort that comes along with inappropriate diet and being overweight. The diet insists on 20 minutes of walking and exercise for the rest of your life. I get plenty of exercise keeping up with this house and grounds and lots more running after all the grandkids that I'm always baby sitting. I have a neighbor who walks every day at 2. I will be joining her starting today.

Walking is the BEST exercise...was reading an article(which I have no idea if I saved it or not) they were talking about the healthiest city in the world(Don't even ask me where it was, LOL, my brain just doesn't retain things anymore...I'm thinking near the Mediterranean )and it wasn't just a little village of 20 people, but a thriving metropolitan area most worked outside the home if I remember correctly there was about 50,000 there but they all WALKED, no one had a gym membership or an exercise program other than walking everywhere to the store, to visit friends, etc...
Of course I can't find it, and when I search I get 2 different answers that wasn't the one I saw,
Calgary Canada and Reykjavik, Iceland(they do a lot of swimming)
Iceland is the healthiest country
of course the US #1 city is San Fran because "San Francisco is America's number one walking city"
I walk 2 miles every day, rain or shine.....keeps the arthritis at bay.....
If you don't move quickly in Iceland you freeze your a** off.
hee hee...
4 daylight hours????... no way!!!!!
I walk at least 2 miles everyday too, sometimes more. It sure does make a difference, even my first time skiing this year I didn't get the usual sore legs as I used to.
And with the kids moving a mile and a half away, I figure that will increase my distance.
Yes, winter in Iceland sucks big time. Nice in the warm weather, though. On my list to visit. Very interesting place.
Walking is great. Just doesn't do it for me. Cannot get the heart rate high enough. Need to run. I just joined the Snap Fitness gym near me. Did it for a number of reasons. One - many more options and machines makes it way better than my basement. With my knee, it's nice to have other aerobic options like the bike, elliptical (mine broke), etc. Also, I have been uncharacteristically lazy lately. This forces me to work out. Have not gone to a gym since I got the house. Went today to check it out. Small, but nice. Open 24/7.
I tried running and got such bad shin splints I am afraid to try again. Just thinking about it makes my shins hurt. Hope you like the gym, I miss going, but the parking changed so I'd half to park 1/2 mile away, and I was going before work, so it got to be too much.
I get shin splints too.. not good.. I was almost crippled after walking so much in Vegas ... the 4th day did me in.. one of those.. sitting on the bed.. put feet on floor and tears pour down from pain.. sitting.. not good
