I'm going to have to go through my pictures, paper pictures. Lol. And see if I can find some of Jimmy's treasures and house.

Baton Rouge, LA

Wow How honored I feel to have so many a part of Tonight's Night Shift !

((HUGS))

Debbie - wish I had been in a musical... how wonderful ! I LOVE LOVE Those old musicals ! (Yes Dianne) they bring me back to Mom.... she loved them so much....
Don't know John Edward...
Judy - how wonderful that Bear has visited. I've only seen glimpses of Mom... But the last time she came to me in force I remember vividly.... we were at her gravesite, Hubs and I... and it was raining and miserable... and all of a sudden she said
"Beckie... get him in out of the rain !"..... Well ya'll don't know this but only Mom called me Beckie (Middle name Rebekah) so I knew it was her... she was telling me to get Hubs in the car... just like her ! to think of everyone but herself....

It was her voice too...

(HUGS)
Mary (aka Beckie)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love the name Beckie, it suits you Mary..Debbie you have good taste, John Edwards is good.

Gee whiz, doing crossword on iPad and visiting with the night shift..omg my keyboard divided on the screen and minimized, was typing on itsy bitsy keys..then I realized somehow my hands were on keyboard and I pulled to each side. ...just like the parting of the sea. Lol

This time I really am off to lala land before I make the morning shift

Night/night

Lyndonville, NY

Good night Betty, get some sleep!

I have never seen my Mom, but....I get wiffs of cigarette smoke here in the living room when no one is home. And I have the "animal" things, where something shows up out of the blue and follows me. Be it a Cardinal...which mom loved. A white butterfly that stuck around until October and pestered me...which I loved. I do remember as a young girl....age 10...my Dad came to my bedside and told me it was all going to be OK. He died when I was 5. He came again when I was 26...was laying in bed with both the girls, then age 2 & 5 months...and he just stood there gazing at them and watching over us.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Judy, fantastic baby quilt ya got going there!!!

Betty I agree with Debbie, old friends letting you know how much you are loved....they knew it has been a hard time for you of late....
love the fabrics you got, and looks like you will be busy with the stained glass for awhile.

~~~~~to all, I can't remember what else I wanted to say *** big sigh**
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning, cold but clear outside, great for travelling to and from work!
Wrestless night, thank goodness for NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles and Thomas the tank..what child is up at 2:30am watching cartoons?
Thunder, are you settled back into life and work now that family excitement is over?
Just sitting here, not sure what mischief I can get into in 1 hour but I'm sure I will find something.
Was yersterday a holiday for all of you being Martin Luther King Jr. Day or is it only in certain states?
Not sure if I mentioned that feb 6th Paul is leaving along with his daughters and family for another week vacation? Suzanne and Lenny are thinking about going as well, regardless if Paul does go I will get to work from home that week, will be one less week to worry about the weather.
Someone mentioned the Super Bowl on feb 5th and if I remember correctly last year I took mom to Buffalo and coming home on the Sunday there wasn't a car at the border, said nobody travels that day..might be the weekend weather permitting to go across?
For you just waking, coffee is on..
Victoria Harbour, ON
Doesn't pay to tidy, brought my stained glass piece and set on a worktable and beside it I found 2 scrap bags for sewing, maybe 90% finished..drats..the more you clean the more projects you have..
We should have a challenge....
What do you have sitting there that you keep procrastinating about but would love to finish / or clean or and or and or
Perhaps if we say what it is we'll be more apt to finish lol
When redoing the sewing room and bringing the rest of things up from the basement, I discovered bag after bag of projects for me to sew. I have 22 so far - all different sizes from placemats to full quilts!!! Also wall hangings and started projects that got set aside. Several tops that are done waiting to be quilted!!! I couldn't believe how much was here. I shouldn't have to buy anything except backing materials and batting for the whole year plus!!!! I was totally amazed at how much was here and when I think of all the money it cost, I started getting angry at myself for spending all that. But now I think-I'm pretty much going to be house bound for a while and I have plenty to keep me busy. So maybe all in all, it was a good job to get done!!!
Hope you feel as good as I do about it Betty!!!
Your stained glass area looks so nice now. Great job and I'm looking forward to see what you do there. The one thing I didn't see during our visit was your blue heron that you talk about. I'm sorry I forgot to ask while we were there......
Omg Barb, we are two peas in a pod, afraid to go into a room or open a drawer..after posting last photo into laundry room to put load of wash in dryer..there on the counter is a quilt, quilt as you go sitting there..went to put something in the drawers and there sits wool for a chunky sweater I thought I just had to do
Hmmm poor heron has been sleeping under a bed for about 4 years..you would think he'd fly away. Lol
I'm sure you will accomplish much while you are recuperating..what will you start with..I'm in awe of all the fabric you have..must be fun going through looking for just the right one when doing sewing without hitting fabric shops!
I will make a list on blackboard
1 easy project 1 more time consuming project and hope by the time spring comes and I'm in the garden there will be no unfinished projects.
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
I'm setting aside a lot of handwork projects (think applique) as I don't think I'll be sitting at a machine too much for a while. I like making appliqued hangings for my front door. I have several for Halloween and Christmas but nothing for Spring or Summer so that is first on the list after I finish the two applique projects that are already started!!! One is a wall hanging of Jelly Jars that I started eons ago....Another is a hand pieced pillow. So that should keep me busy.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Took the poor dear out from under the bed to say 'hi' to you Barb...
He's just over 3'..have an idea for him for this spring but then I said that the last 3 or 4 springs..lol
He is soooo beautiful Betty!!!! Maybe you can get some type of wrought iron holder made for him so he can be in the garden by the pond? He would look stunning there!
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Wow, Love that heron! Betty, Barb is right, he would look so good by the pond!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Thank you both..in my stained glass last night I found the catails ready to be soldered..I got gift certificates for the Garden gallery and they have the metal panels..my thoughts are to solder him on and when the gazebo cover goes on to place him in a corder with live catails plants so that he doesn't get all weather beaten..maybe Thursday I'll take a run and see what they have as I'm going in that direction
wow hard to find Barrie, talk about foggy..Suzanne isn't here yet , might be worse coming across the ski hills..mild, just a tad of light mist, if it got colder could be very slippery
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
hmmmmm make a list on my board - good idea, Betty.. if I have enuff room ...............
Victoria Harbour, ON
Are you feeling better today Susan? Jeff said as soon as he gets to the Toronto office and picks up the stick he will get books downloaded and stick males to you..would imagine you are just getting ready for work? Weather cooperating..
Have some knitting here, just came to mind that lamp I found cut and in a bag, not a large one..could have brought it in and foiled..would have passed the day!
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Oh Betty, forgot to answer you about MLK day. It was a day off for Todd as he works on the base, and I don't think the kids were in school, but business' were open.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Thanks LindaKay, thought it might be like a July 4th type a day when most things are closed. So did you and Todd get to do anything special? just rest?
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Good Morning Everyone!!! Had a fun and busy extra long weekend at the horse races and casino in Hot Springs. I'm going to attempt to catch up a little bit here.....
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Did you win anything Crissy?
Betty, we got a few things sorted out, but always seems like that is an ongoing things...
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Betty - thanks re: stick
Crashing headache (have had since Thursday - likely my neck is "out").
-30c here......... bitterly cold
At work
Victoria Harbour, ON
Crissy, I'm with LindaKay..did you win ? enough for a big plane ride? lol Glad you got to enjoy yourself..you've been under a lot of stress lately.
LindaKay, nice to have some of those days..my goal is by end of month to have all closets/drawers and craft room organized..getting there. You still get to go outside and enjoy so that makes it easy getting behind in the house.
I called the Stained Glass studio, not open, want to drop in on my way home one night, then called the quilt shop that just moved closer to ski hills to also find out her new hours (in her home now) and no answer..went on Facebook site of Stonecottage and asked for hours and if open and new calendar of events.
Can't you tell I'm bored and it's not 11:00a.m. Suzanne told me to go shopping and she'd take the calls..
as if!
Victoria Harbour, ON
You know Susan, when you almost went for a flip the other day in the storm you could have easily tensed up or jarred your neck hense the headache..maybe you need to have it checked if it continues..
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Sure I tensed up.......
I've had 4 whiplashes in my life, so my neck is ultra sensitive to this......... however I don't think I got a whiplash this time, but surely got tension in my neck.......
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Betty, go look to see who signed up for your trip!!!
Victoria Harbour, ON
I'm afraid to...
More freezing rain and snow on the way...Debbie and Dianne hope you don`t get it!!
Well I am back to do a little bit of sewing...take care everyone and T&P for everyone who needs them..
Thea
Victoria Harbour, ON
Glad you are feeling better Thea..what project are you sewig?
Keep listening to breakfast television every morning and think of both you and Dianne when they say our winter weather (or not so wintery) is in your neck of the woods.
Dianne, how are both you and Warren doing? If Thea just got her card since mailing in early Dec. is there any hope for you to get your project box...my apologies for not getting the replacement out..trying to get back to a routine now that I'm rested a bit and after Mike's death..haven't forgotten
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Ha! They take $2.00 bets for each place. Dave kept betting "win" on the horses I chose even thought I told him to bet "show." I would have won $5.00 but instead lost $4.00. Dave won $10 and our friend Johnny won $30. I wanted to go yesterday while Dave was at work but that didn't happen, maybe I'll leave early someday before the season ends and go by myself so I can bet my own without Dave there, I think that would work better.
Good Grief, that's ridiculous for it to take that long!! Wonder if it got stuck at the bottom of one of those canvas bags they use here in the States and no one saw it for awhile. Back when we did bulk mail here we got a bunch of those and found someone's IRS payment stuck in the canvas at the very bottom corner of one of the bags, it was post dated 2 years prior. We pulled it out and took it to the post office and showed the Postmaster, he took it so who knows what happened to it after that.
Glenview, IL
LOLOL, Betty! I remember when you started the Huron, hehe misplaced it under your bed or under something!! Well now that your Stained glass tools are in order maybe you'll finish him, Yep i agree He will be awesome by one of the ponds.
Susan, Hope your feeling better today, sending you a big smile!!
Whoah, just woke up about half hour ago...Jake has finals this week so his start time is varied and off again Friday!
We decided to go to the Cottage at the end of the Month...Will be nice to see different scenery.
Debbie/Mary...Isn't is great to "see/feel" Mom's presence? Haven't felt Mumma in a long while. But her Birthday is coming up and I usually treat us to Breakfast.
While there I write letter to her...Not for a couple of years so I'm thinking it's time again. Last time I was begging for her help with Brothers and other situations! Within 3 days problems were solved!! BUT the other night when Bear visited me I could smell her perfume, at first i thought I was imagining it, but not, she was here with me!...LOL, No, Betty you did not miss my 50th, it's next month...2-11, you know we can celebrate now!!
Remember I used to celebrate for a month straight, ahhh those were my "younger" days!!! OMG, Carol and I always gave each other a"rough time" at birthdays...
LOL, Teased her for being older than me. Well When i turned 40, she was freaking relentless with being old phrases and such, Hahahha, geesh how i miss her jovial nature!
Actually Friday was the 13th, I had a shot of Rum for Bear...Was weird too because that was the day of snow storm.
Thea!! So good to see you, Was actually thinking about you yesterday too. Sorry to see you been ill. So glad you are feeling better.
Big smile you got your card, lol I told you it will go well with your Winter Decor!
Speaking of which, My tree is still up and doing Wonderful...I took all the decoration off, but leaving the lights on, We are going to move it to the deck and light it up for as long as it drinks water...
Crissy, Are things starting to wind down for you?
Oops, have to get Buddy to school soon, so have to get dressed!
Be back in a bit.
Victoria Harbour, ON
lol Judy you are such a character..wait till some of the girls meet you in the flesh lol
wow, had me worried there, I thought it was in February when you have the bahama mama party and valentines day but you were talking 50 and thought yikes missed it with all going on! Well from the sounds of it there are more ghosts than mine checking up on their loved ones..was going to say that in my craft room a young woman, recently divorced took her life..when I found myself alone I always felt at peace..never did ask the neighbors her name..
Crissy, need you to win big time..
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Thank you, Judy.
y'know, I'm wondering if this job is for me. I spend more time weeping here, but......... it's a job, and one that may end up being perm, on Feb 10th....... with a raise.
Sure could use the $$ when Bob's not working. Heck, could use the $$ even if he were, cuz I'm the major wage earner.
Although we've lived in Calgary since Aug 2006, and I love the scenery and our church, I'm seriously beginning to wish I were back in Winnipeg with my family, as I have none here. My cousin and her husband only communicate with us via email, or if she's cleaning her closets and donates stuff to us and the church....... They never invite us for family stuff (three years ago to their daughter's wedding and only because my mom was in the city then).
I feel so alone in Calgary.
Maybe the Lord is trying to get us to realize (by way of our job status - me "undetermined" all the time, and Bob losing 2 jobs in less than a year.........
I just don't know......feeling so weepy.........
Victoria Harbour, ON
Susan, since before Christmas you have been not yourself, you've been homesick..perhaps that is the answer, a quick pick up of treasures and homeward bound. you've done it before, am sure you could do it again. How would Bob feel about moving back? Is the job market in Winnipeg better than Calgary? Did they not just announce a buy out in the billions re oil lines and would that not provide Bob with employment once the changes occur?
Took a quick run over to Color Your World, thought maybe I'd paint the living room and wallpaper over one wall for a bit of a change but only beiges/tans/browns or black/white sooo back with nothing..will have to wait until I see and say 'ooooh I love it'
Debbie, are there any brand name wallpaper stores in Buffalo?
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Betty - I did it before cuz I used AirMiles and $172 (that we really couldn't afford). Now that Bob's out of work, we Really couldn't afford it.
'sides, don't have the time or energy......
The reason we moved to Calgary is because the job market for me was non-existent at the time, and I don't know what it is now, either.
Can't sell our home here, and don't have the $$ for somewhere in Winnipeg, either.
I feel in limbo here - so tired and worried all the time.
Victoria Harbour, ON
did not mean your recent trip Susan, meant when you packed up and moved to Calgary not knowing what would become of you, at least if you packed up and left as is just bringing your belongings and a few treasures and head to Winnipeg you have loved ones there..it to me would be worth renting an apartment and not be unhappy, stressed and homesick.
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
The problem is, if there is no savings because of lack of work, and the only money you would have to live on is your wages, or in this case the sell of your house because if you move there would be no wages coming in (no jobs) then there is no way you can move and pay rent somewhere without selling your house first, which would be ok IF you knew there wouldn't be a problem finding jobs, but without that guarantee I don't think I'd do it, the economy will come back in due time then it won't be so difficult.
Oh Susan I feel your pain, I have no family here in AR, and my mom, in Oklahoma City will be moving back to CA next summer so that will put her 2000 miles away and my dad 6 hours north. I would keep your job, I don't fit in at my work anymore either, they don't understand me and I know that's because I'm not southern.
I've been homesick for months and I know how it is to leave family and friends, I have TONS of friends in CA, very good friends too and things keep coming up and I just can't seem to get back there and I need to very very badly.
The following is a message I just posted in the other building: I know how many here contributed and I want you to know how special Jaye is....
"I love you too Jaye!!!! I'm sitting here with the tears running down my cheeks!!!! This was the last thing I ever expected and I am so humbled and honored.
To all my sistahs here, Jaye has mailed me her armwrap shawl to wear as I recover from my surgery on Friday. When I opened the box and read her note, the tears started and now I can't seem to shut them off. Guess my nerves are finally catching up with me. I KNOW what a wonderful group of friends I have here but to be so honored was far beyond my imagination.
Thank you so much Jaye. She also sent a sewing book for me to read while I'm laid up. How lucky am I????
I promise to take excellent care and It will be returned ASAP.
Love, Barb"
Can you believe this? I feel so special. I know how much work Judy put into this and I promise to take such good care of it.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Now you have me crying Barb..it's difficult for those not on DG to understand how you can bond with people you have never met (I've been blessed with meeting many)! What a honor to have received such a heart felt gesture..
