Dianne, once again opening the thread with a 'thank you' to both you and Santa Warren..I believe we've all enjoyed our Christmas pressie, always nice to get something that comes from the heart from our DG family!!!!
Suzanne and Lenny just dropped in, bought a new truck, candle apple red so came to show me..Suzanne wanted me to see her beautiful candy apple top that matched which I bought for her at Hamburg craft show..to make her smile I showed her what I had accomplished on her 2012 Christmas quilt..lots of ooohs and ahhhs..she had looked all over town for a brilliant red quilt christmas past and could not find..told her the gift would be for 2012 and 2013 lol
Was gabbing to Jeff, Julie is off next week to California with her family for 2 weeks, his trip to Florida which they will park somewhere near Homestead then use their bicycles for 2 weeks travelling down the keys will be late February..trying to con him into me going (for fun) and had lots of laughs

Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Thanks for the new room! Bed that is a beautiful truck!
Betty, that is very pretty! Love those colors.
Not doing much here today, just taking it easy.
Sometimes we need to do that..how is Heather doing?
Had grilled cheese, muffin then layed on the chesterfield..not a thing I should have done..will force myself to get up..think I'll clear the tables of sewing materials, take a little breah and maybe tackle the stained glass workshop, see what I have, what is missing and take out that piece that has been sitting around for what seems an eternity then call it a day.
I've surprised myself with all I've accomplished this weekend and that makes me happy.
I hate to even post because I have nothing but bad news. Scotty is going to have both carotids operated on and then has given permission to do Dialysis. My Joe just called and told me that My grandson, Kevin's wife who lost their first baby a yr ago has now had to have an emergency C-section. The twin girls are only a little over 1 pound each. They are up by Bloomington visiting relation. HUGS & PRAYERS FOR ALL BEV
Bev, my heart goes out to you, please do not NOT post even though things are going poorly...this is a time you need us, we your DG family to help support you! There have been many miracles through prayer..sending hugs for you and prayers for your family. Do you think Scotty is well enough to go through that operation? Know the alternative isn't good, not having it done could result in, well we know what in...keep in faith..always as close as the keyboard Bev...know you are very special to me and I'm sure to everyone else.
Often wonder how Shirley is doing as well..love when we hear from her.
LindaKay, ahhh she looks so healthy, am sure she will have the little one on March 2nd. and I can be Auntie Betty!
packing up most of the fabrics..trying to tidy then if I still have energy left might clean stained glass area...through odds/ends of flannel, they always lead to more blankets..lol..you know how it is and there was 16 squares so sewed them together 4x4 and made a kitty blanket for the bed..saves the dirty paws from messing up bed quilts.
That would be a nice Birthday gift? But you will still be Aunt Betty, when he is born.
Home from Kingston and I have to say the cleaning up of the streets and sidewalks after the double whammy storm Tjursday and Friday is absolutely disgraceful. Even in my little village the side streets and sidewalks are in great shape. I just about went head over teakettle walking at a major intersection near Hotel Dieu Hospital. It is not just a skim of ice it is thick. Enough of my rant but if I was a taxpayer in Kingston I would be raising my voice in dismay.
That said, the staff that is on at Hotel Dieu on Sundays is a skelelton staff - there are no overnights except for the Psychiatric Floor. But as always absolutely everyone who works in the hospital is fabulous. DH left his sheet listing his meds in the truck. He wanted to hang onto it and not follow our usual way of me keeping it in a bag that Barb had made and gave to me. Everything important and to do with DH's trips to the hospital and CC are kept in that bag.The tech was very sweet about it as I trekked back to the parking lot to try and find this dang sheet. W could not remember where he put it. I had to tear the Escape apart to find it too. Anyway the Cscan staff just rolled with it and were wonderful. At KGH we probably would have heard an earful. Scan went well and only took about 10 minutes. Now we wait to hear the results. I was very glad to have your company Debbie and Izzy was a perfect lady.
Mary I had the bestest surprise when I got to the mailbox this morning - your book was there. I am going to read it tonight and know I will enjoy every second of it.
Heather looks wonderful LK, Se looks quite calm is she always like that?
Need to rush off will BBL
Dianne
Heather is glowing! 1 month will pass quickly and you'll be seeing a new little one!
talking about little ones.... ONE Pound? yikes, that's tiny!
Prayers for all new and expectant mothers!
Wonder why so many pregnancies go awry? Even in days of old with no technology you didn't hear as many early births and miscarriages..something changed and not for the good..that is sooo tiny..was making scalloped potatoes and grabbed a lb. of butter..not very heavy..praying the survive ..
Dianne, forget how much snow has to fall before municipal plows are out but it is a substantial amount..even with this the side streets are often not done. Worse is ice under light snow, you just don't know where you will end up...thank goodness for your escape.
Ahhh Barb's famous bag, Ann was here the other night, she is learning how to knit so in the bag are her supplies..mine is with me daily and here you say it holds all you need for the hospital..great gift for sure!
Speaking of Barb, was it tonight she was going not the hospital?
oh Betty - here's where I think you're wrong. So many women didn't live through a pregnancy in the "old days" so that's why, during the time of the Mail Order Brides, they wanted healthy women who could bear sons. So many died, both the mom & babies. I suppose in those days of little communication it wasn't publicized and it was such a natural occurance that they didn't go-on about it.
As well, the hospitals kept women pretty weak, hoping to see them through the "ordeal". I remember my mom saying she was kept flat on her back after the birth, and only given gruel to eat. After two weeks, she was so weak that she got dizzy just dangling her legs over the edge of the bed. That was in the 1930's! Her first born died when he was less than a year old.
Women nowadays are healthier and have more conveniences, plus the better health care (before, they didn't have houses in rural areas, and no cars to get them there, anyway - just the Dr who hopefully got there in time.c-sections would likely kill the mother.........).
I'm so glad we live in these days of clean hospitals, and licensed midwives!!
Guess so, I spent 6 months of my 9 months in hospital but it was due to kidneys...it's just you hear so much of it...Suzanne's daughter is having mega problems as well..she is due I believe in Early May..
Drats left scalloped potatoes, went downstairs for what I thought was 10 minutes...sure are a dark Goldie brown (cheese)..might find enough for supper under that super baked crust..not saying I burnt anything...
Sure wish Barb would check in before she leaves for the hospital!
Barb's surgery is the 20th? I think?? I know it is Friday, so i do not think she goes to hosp. yet..
I weighed 2 lbs when I was born, Miracle I survived...I often wonder if that is why i have breathing issues??
Bev, sending you hugs, and lots of prayers for Scotty! Also lots of prayers for those precious babies! It is amazing what can happen with all the technologies we have today. How far along was she?
oooooooooh burned scalloped potatoes........ burning milk is The Worst.......
Let's just say Susan, Pyrex dish is soaking..good though! Even salvaged enough supper to pack lunch to mow.
Wow Thunder, very well could create breathing problems now..we're you a wee thing when you started school or caught up in the growing by then?
Hmm not sure why I hought it was this week Barb was going in..confused with daupys and weeks this month..wish I made a mistake and it's Saturday.
Sewing machine put away for a bit, all nice and tidy..didn't attempt the stained glass work area...enough is enough..did bring the piece I was working on out though, needs to get a good cleaning, not even sure the copper tape is okay..reallyshouldscrap it!o
You better not scrap that project! I have never seen you give up.
Hello To All ;
((HUGS)) Bev ! That is why you are supposed to post so that we will know when you give you Hugs and Prayers! Please keep up in touch... So much they can do nowadays... DSD2 was a preemie.... I'll ask Hubs how much she weighed...I thought about you today...looking at my daylilies... I should have 4... only 3 showing ..hopefully the 4th will come back in Spring...seems like last year they all froze to the ground and then came right back up.....I need to buy 2 more and will keep looking for the Pickle one :o)
Goodness Dianne... the way I read that... you fell today ? I sure hope not... shame on them for not keeping the streets up.... So glad they were good with Warren today. and SUPER glad you got the book in ! Thea should get hers too... I mailed Judy's and ya'lls all on the same day... You will see why it reminds me of all of us on here...
Betty - I really got angry that DMom hasn't told you she loved the quilt you gave her... You put so much work into everything. I wish I could go back and tell Grandma how much I love her quilts... I really don't use them now that I know how special they are I want to pass them down and they be in good shape.
LK - Love pic.... remind Heather she has to wait til March for us ! Either 2 for Betty or 10th for Dianne & I....
Question for you - I got some sewing gadgets, and this was in the package (from a friend, who has No Idea what this is), and I was hoping someone would know what it was. Side view shows some pins inside, and the top view shows where you are to press it and the pins meet the bottom.
any ideas what it is?
Lost my thread! Yikes! Betty, that was cheese soup I burned on Monday...stunk up the house big time...and as said, the burnt milk ewww!
Bev, remember I wrote awhile back about the two babies I used to watch? Jessica was 1 lb 4 oz.....she is now 19 and in college. Her only problem is wearing glasses since age 2. AND..Angelita was 1 lb 2 oz...and dropped down to 11 oz at one point, only 10 inches long! She is now a cheerleader and just turned 9 years old I believe. A little hyper active and wears glasses.....so, they both did very well. We will all say prayers and good thoughts for those babies. Please....let us know their names and how they are doing.
And the same for Scotty. Keep us posted on how he is doing. I am very happy he decided to go ahead with the surgery....and the kidney treatment. He will feel much better afterwards. Keeping him and YOU in our prayers.
All is well here, just very cold ( 7 ) tonight.
Dianne, it was much colder your side of the lake.....we sure need spring quick! Hugs for you, know you will not rest til you get the test results.
I have PT at 8:30 tomorrow....so I need to head to bed.
Sweet dreams all,
Debbie
Morning all, bitter cold, slept in..yowzers what is this world coming to? Having coffee and yesterday muffins, sure wish you would have eaten them all.
Will be letting the car warm up a bit for sure..really should have started it yesterday for a few minutes seeing as I didn't go anywhere..2 days in this cold might not start.
Didn't hear from Darlene yesterday but Mike's brother Rick and SIL Heather were coming up and someone to look at Mike's truck, we're going do some cards so likely overwhelming for her. Will touch base today.
Susan, had one of those gadgets ions ago when I made fancy ribbon bows, not sure why I think you pull through/shreds?? Hmm. Perhaps I'm leading you astray but I think so.
Mary, the only quilt I had left of grandma's was one made of heavy coats men used to wear, can't imagine the fingers after quilting that one. Don't have it now, Jeff is not a real sentimental keeper of things but I loaned it to him to wrap the boys one winter and when I asked for it I got a NO' said he'll be the keeper and pass it one..was fine with me. Got to say once you were under it you didn't move, weighed under.
Debbie, actually once the cheese layer here and there taken off it wasn't bad, tasty it was..
You will be heading out shortly, careful of the roads . They are calling for freezing rain later today, will have to listen closer , yep, special weather statement for Barrie area..appts all day, maybe once they are finished we can leave
Well, best I get a move on..gab when I get to work!
Good Morning.
Sending you some ArmWraps BEV!!
Will keep the Baby Girls in my prayers, May they grow nice and healthy!
I, too was a preemie, came into the world 3.5 months early 3pounds...With today's medical knowledge being so much better, your baby's have a much better survival rate.
Oh Linda Kay...Heather looks awesome! Looks like your grand son is growing rapidly now, yay. How's heather liking her embroidery machine?
Do they have a name yet? lol so many questions!! Oh wow, your materials chosen are so pretty for the stained glass block, can't remember if I've said, but I really liked the block you chose too.
Dianne, yikes...hope your not too sore from nearly falling. LOL, it probably took longer to find the paper then it took for the scan! Whew glad its done. Hope the results are good.
Thunder!! OH my great picture of the the men in uniform! Glad it was such a wonderful event! Awe, so cute Meleana calling out to her Uncle!!
Debbie and Betty, yikers on the burning, er i mean extra crispy cooking! Betty, I know you have a timer, lol need to set it.
So I have been pretty busy with Brittany's quilt...Baby is a girl so I am trying to make it girly with Dad's plaids.
How about some pictures!!
My B is for butterfly...
Also have the parts and pieces for a block called Dads Plaids...but I'm using a teddy bear.
The other half is just a sillouette, I'm not using that part, lol...Well maybe, I like it in a smaller version.
The big piece at the bottom!! Well, i have to tell you i was extremely thrilled to have just the right size!!
to make this wind mill...The White pieces are from a baseball cap and the "C" will be in the Center !!!
LOL, I kept thinking what the heck am going to do with these hats...Then as i was trying to decide what else to make thought for a girl
a windmill...light bulb goes off and snap my fingers! Works out perfect. I have another Green hat I'll be doing with the green plaid...
Then the Hearts Block i have yet to create...
Today will be working on a lot of sewing!
Omg Judy, absolutely love the quilt...what a labor of love..you have given me an idea..Darlene said this morning that all the clothing Mike had she gave away, shouldn't bare parting with his clothing..her birthday is in March so maybe I could do something similar and with pictures..
How creative you are, imagine, about 6 years ago you were overwhelmed to think about threading a needle and now look at you girl..proud of you!
Love the house and as always, look at the work Steve has done..is this the house that he wanted you to move to..right in same neighborhood!
Must go back and retread Dianne's post..can't believe I didn't see she had fallen, maybe I was still half asleep when I read it
Just spoke to Paul and considering all changes..says we will have a shut down late July, little late for ur gathering, not sure that some would want to be away for July 4th sooo
My thoughts are posting it for June 28'29'30 and our Canada Day July 1st ...what do you think?? That way my gardens would look half decent

Judy, love those blocks, and that door is so pretty!
Betty, that sounds like a good time to me. What is the closest airport, so I can start pricing flights?
Don't know anything more about the babies yet but Scotty will have a stint put in each side of his neck. Doc says he would not get through the surgery way. Thanks so much for being here for us. LOVE BEV
It's a wonderful gift idea Betty!! Brittany kaboshed the photos, but I have a few that I've taken. The other side of the quilt is going to be in the t-shirts/flannal plaids and jeans...etc. My thought is to use a few of the pockets and make fabric photo cards. I'm contemplating button holes to attach them to seam string...
Oh my gosh and yesterday, was looking at the snap buttons from the dress shirts, ha have a genius idea to incorporate them on the sides so the blanket can be folded and snapped for a pillow, and or a sleeping bag!! Dar is sure to Love the Beautiful memory quilt!
Got to laugh with you...I was thinking the same thing after finishing the butterfly block. Back when i started I would have been tearing my hair out, breaking a sweat on how to even begin, ROFLOL ok, ok now I'm blaming all that on pre-menapausal breakdowns!! Really though, lots of practice with all of you has taught me some serious patience, not to mention having the right tools helps a great deal too/ wink. Thanks again to Barbara for personal tutoring.
Oh yes, love the dates...Will mark the on the calender!!
Linda Kay, Thanks!! You working on Stained glass Yet?
Ok just finished one teddy bear, lol created hand pads too, and now thinking about adding a tiny bow by the ear for girls and ties for boys 2 each.
Break over...Hope you are enjoying the day!
No stained glass here. Don't even know where to start on that craft!
Judy, I would be careful using snaps on a baby blanket, maybe some Velcro?
Oh, I forgot, they are going to name the baby Dylan Marley. They both love Bob Dylan And Bob Marley, so that is what they came up with.
I would think that regardless of when I pick a date it will not be o.k. for some.
lordy was so busy I started this just after you posted LindaKay with request of which airport
It is Pearson Internation Aiport..you know it's 1/2 price when arriving in Buffalo..that is where I picked up Crissy when we went on a road adventure..too bad some couldn't arrive on the Wedn. night and I could drive over to pick you up
Judy you keep being creative and I'll steal your ideas..lol
love the name LindaKay..will be one of a kind for sure
Bev, not knowing a whole lot about body (what side is the heart on) is the stints less invasive?
Will you be seeing Scotty before they do it?
Always busy when the boss is here..lol
ok...started a link for 2012 Sistah's Gathering - Party at Betty's
sure hope a few can make it..lots of time for getting that passport or enhanced drivers' licence
The doc says he would not make it through a surgery because of his congestive heart failure. We don't know when it will be but I plan to be up at the hospital unless they take him and bring him back down here by ambulance right after. I don't know yet. BEV
We will be praying for him and sending hugs for you Bev.. So glad you are here posting..wether just a 'hi' or two page post please let us be here for you
One of my greatest visits were with you and Scotty
