Very nice! Love the squirrel looks like he was enjoying himself. :)

Atkinson, NH(Zone 5a)

Pixie the Red Squirrel is a regular visitor, we think he lives in our roof.
Was back again today, full of the devil, running around and jumping from place to place.

Nice shots! I would love to have a bluebird in the yard!
Guess I better get busy with the camera out there, the feeders are full and I have lots of visitors just been to busy to get some good pics. Thanks for the reminder!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes you are right.. if he bends our feeder pole one more time.. Randy said it's going to snap.. we haven't had one for 2 years so I thought we were good.. guess not

Atkinson, NH(Zone 5a)

We have not had any Bear problems for 3 or 4 years now they seem to have moved on.

Because of the warm weather the Bears are late to take their winter naps. Still plenty of food out there for them to keep getting fatter.

John/Liza-You have a great collection of birds there

Bears!!! Geez and I complain about the squirrels!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

nice shots john - will have to try and get some pics here

i double baffle the feeders to keep the squirrels on the ground

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Great thread idea.
I have 2 feeders with different mixes. The really big one is cracked corn, sunflower and peanut. The deer eat this as well as squirrils who empty it every week.
The second feeder is premium stuff with nuts, seeds and fruit.
Its hard to see in this pix, another gloomy day here.
I have seen
Flicker
SapSucker
Downey Woodpecker
Chicadees
Nut Hatch
Titmouse
Dark eyed Junco
Hawk

The cage surround on this one is on a spring so when squirrils try to feed their weight closes the feeder holes. It really works best.
The large feeder is the Yankee Flipper that needed a battery recharg in horrible weather. I gave up.

WHA you must have a large variety of Birds with your gardens and the surrounding woods and water.

I have had very few birds on the feeder this winter...perhaps because the tree where they sheltered was destroyed in the Oct. storm, or maybe because there's no snow....I have had 6 rowdy jays, titmice, chicks, downys, and a nuthatch....also a few mourning doves....saw a white-throated sparrow in the leaves, & a bluebird zoomed by a few weeks ago....no cardinals. Yesterday, as I was walking across the dam, a raven flew quite close to my head....then he landed in front of me, making menacing clicking noises...I had to take off my hat & wave it before he took off......didn't see him today.....

Atkinson, NH(Zone 5a)

Robindog, I think the same is true all over, no snow so lots of natural food still available. I can see lots of Woodpeckers in the trees gleaning between the cracks in the bark but not many at the feeders. Bluebirds are eating the Bittersweet berry which they usually do not do until spring. Sparrows and Doves are in the gardens picking through the plants for seeds. Our Ground is now frozen and so is the local water so expect to see increased use of the the heated water.
