Good Morning Sistahs all!
Sue, you and are freezing together today, yikes a whopping 14.
Jake back to school today, yay!
Oh My gosh, Susan just love Jumanji movie as well, same here can watch many times and still love it!
A fun fact: I went to High School with Bonnie Hunt!! Well, she was a Senior and her little Sister Mary and I graduated together.
I love all the B.Hunt movies, she is just a riot!
Awe, Sistah jaye, bummer you have an earache, hope it heals quickly, in meantime, get lots of rest!
Love you.
Back to house stuffs!
Hope your ear is feeling better Jaye? Do you have some oil to put in it?
Jaye - are you taking any drops in your ear?
I beeze here too!!!! lol
Ohhh Kathy, Penny is Adorable!! What a great birthday pressie!!
Awe! She is so pretty! What kind is she?
she looks part husky.........
she is an alaskan malamute. i wanted all 4 of them! but settled for penny
Well Penny is precious! Precious Penny....sorry about the birthdays I've missed. :o( Bad Girl. Well, I had a good excuse for being absent. On Friday, the 30th, I'm hooked up to the plasma machine, and my Dad calls me....he's crying so hard I can't understand him. I finally get him calmed down enough to tell me that he has fallen and busted his lip. He's on coumadin, remember. Sigh....so I call the clinic and they call the medics. I can't get a hold of Bill for 15 minutes after I got the call to go over there to be with him until I could get there. I finally do, and when I get there, they have him loaded up in the ambulance and they're heading to emergency. I don't know why I thought the end of 2011 would be any better than the rest of it! We were there from 2:00 until 8:00. He got 14 stitches (7 inside and 7 outside). He broke his top dentures. He has a cut eye and a bruised chin. He's sore all over. I had already planned to have him spend the night on New Years Eve, but I just brought him home with me and kept him here.
I started questioning him and he thinks he passed out. (Blood test showed another UTI) and he doesn't know how long he layed on the floor. So I've decided (with Bill's blessings) to keep him with me for January, and if everything works out, he'll move in full time with us. I can't explain how I feel about him. It's almost a maternal thing...LK, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I just can't stand the thought of moving him to assisted living when I'm able to take care of him myself. If he gets to the point where he needs more assistance than I'm able to give, I'll h ire someone. It will still be cheaper than the $3500 per month it would be at Otterbein for assisted living.
So I'll try to pop in more now that he's settled in here. We brought his recliner over and I think he's truly comfortable here now.
Pray for us too, as I am for Heather and the baby and each and every Sistah.
((((((((((((((((((Cookie)))))))))))))))))) bless you for looking after your Dad. I'm sure he'll adjust to your home nicely!
oh siisy, sending prayers to you and dad. if you need anything let me know
Cookie, I know how your feeling! Yes it is a maternal thing, but it also gets on your nerves after a bit! I am just glad I have 2 Brothers and a Sister to help out when needed. Right now he is in Michigan with my Sister. Just make sure you take time for your self and family please?
How is your leg doing? Is it all healed? Are you walking on it OK? If he is on Medicare, or Medicaid, he qualifies for home assistance. Do the paperwork, and you could get payment for taking care of him.
I was so sorry to read of your Dad's fall Cookie. We had Norm's Mom here with us for 3 years and like LK said sometimes it is not easy. But I'm sure he is grateful and I imagine this will help with his loneliness also. We will keep you and your family in our prayers....
Cookie, so sorry to hear about your Dad's accident and yes, I am repeating what LK said: Be sure to take time for yourself!! You will not be of any good to him, yourself or Bill if you don't allow yourself some down time. Love ya! Prayers for his recovery and health.
Burr but it is cold here--34 already but thank goodness it will not last very long.
So sorry to hear of all the bad news, praying for Cookie and dad. I agree with LK too, you need time for yourself. Please everyone, stay well.
With all the cold weather everyone is having I really hate to say this but it was 85 degrees for Rose Bowl Parade. I am looking forward to some cooler weather, I need a little winter.
It was 2* here at 6am and now if only 6* at 8am. Won't be warming up today I'm afraid!!!
It's 3c now, and will be warming up to =13c this afternoon, with winds of 100k!! Another chinook coming!! I think this is on top of the current chinook we're having now!!!!
What is a chinook Susan?
it was 19 here at 7:30. to cold fer me
Think I'm back to normal. It seems so callous of me not to open more (yes, there are more).
Believe me, I'm still in that realm of doubt. Just can't believe you all think enough of me to do this surprise in a box! But my nagging head decided to throb, albeit, off tempo, to a ringing eardrum. There's nothing much my brains can do, but shut down.
Crissy, Sue... hope the snot left you both forever!!
Cotton Bowl tonight! Think I'm up to screaming Piiiiiig Sooowiee.
Sis Kathy, it's been a long time since I've been to the streets of New Orleans. I'll meet you at St. Ann's Street where there's an artisan jeweler who for a price, would make you a "LSU # 1" pendant ;) Then we'll meet up with Marion @ Rue Royale, where I'm sure she'd be on her fifth straight Coke listenining to a look alike Louis Armstrong!
Marion, any new pictures of your DGDs?
Aww Cookie, so sorry to read of your dad. Thank God, he'll be with you and no one better to take care of him than you. Yes, I agree with our sistahs here, take some time for yourself please.
Glad to read that Heather's home, LK. Shan't forget to say extra special prayers for her, tonight, LK. Plus Cookie's dad too.
Oh, btw, no more Julio's corn chips. Kel made a second batch of nachos!
Sistah Susan, I had been sleeping off fevers. Yep, multiple. The same time my ears were aching, I had abscess under my armpit. No telling what triggered these multi infections. The earache stops, when the abscess starts draining!! Been drinking lots of fluids and taking antibiotics that I already had. Can't even watch a good football game!!
For the first time in days, I'll be cooking!! Arrrggghhh.
Will open more pressies later!
Kel is humbled by your actions. Love y'all.
A Chinook is a warm wind that comes from the west - you know what a Santa Ana wind is? Well, the Chinook was named after a western Canada Indian tribe, but it's the same thing - hot, dry wind. We sometimes go from parka weather in the am, to shorts/t-shirt weather by end of the day......... 13c is spring-like weather, and that's what it's supposed to be today. We hardly have any snow as it is....
Jaye - hope all the fevers go away!!!! and that abscess.... yikes!
Then we're visited by the Chinook, Susan!
It's 22* this early morning and it's now in the high 50*!!
Jaye, so glad to hear your on the mend! Can't imagine having all those aliments at once!
Can't wait to see what else you got in your box of pressies!
Chinooks are western winds........ from the West Coast, m'lady lol
I too, am waiting to see what else you have in your pressie box!
Good Day Sistah's
Sistah, I hope you are getting better, stronger each day...Good to see you have drinking lots of fluids and getting some rest to knock out those infections!
Yeppers, anxious to see what else has you smiling!!
Sue, are you feeling any better? I hope so...
Crissy, if you get a chance to peeak in, hope your having a good day and also feeling better.
Susan, Thanks for explaining Chinook, Think we are having one of those here, LOL, I call it a heatwave, It's to be 45 or so, In beginning of January, unheard of.
Ahh, but the sun sure is nice to see/feel.
OH Joyce, I am so sorry to hear Dad had such a nasty fall...So glad that You and Bill will have him stay with you. Will keep you all in prayer.
Is you leg all healed up now??
Linda Kay, not sure if I said, but Was so glad to hear Heather is back home...Hope she is taking it easy!
Well, i'e got go get Jake for Lunch...
Love to all, and have a great Day.
Heather is taking it nice and easy! We got her an embroidery machine for Christmas, and she is practicing so she can do designs on some onsies for her baby.
oh my - my DH mentioned an embroidery sewing machine because he wants some done on his work clothes and we looked on Craigslist and Kijiji...... but WOW - what a cost for used ones!! Up to $5,000!!!!!!
Wow! We got her a Brother from wal mart, for $360.00. That was split between, Andy, Heathers Mom, and us. No way I could afford one that pricey, unless I hit the lotto!
I saw some at Wally World for less, but have no way of affording that right now.
Bob will just have to put up with my heat transfer of the company logo on his overalls lol
They don't present him with logo'd clothing until he'd been there for 6 months. He's a driver so he wants to have the company logo so they'll realize he's a company employee.
Hello sistahs.
LK, you did the right thing getting Heather the embroidery machine. It will surely occupy her mind.
Susan, neither do I have an embroidery machine. When Kel could afford it, I didn't want as the threads are costly!! Anyway, I'm more into straight sewing!
There are a few Brother's second hand embroidery machines under 300 on eBay. Still one take a risk there.
I spent the evening in bed yesterday. Nursing a tension headache. Then this morning, Kel and I hit the roads looking for Hambone.
When I got up this morning, calling him, he was nowhere. He's always waiting at the front door for his breakfast or hanging on the back porch with the kitties. He sleeps in Kel's w/shop, and free to go in and out. It's hunting season, and we think he might have followed some hunting dogs or got lost chasing a deer. The hunters from the nearby hunting club knows Hambone, and I hope he's 'stolen' by one of them. After hours of searching, I am at peace. God doesn't give me more than I can handle.
Sistah Judy.. what's for lunch? I finished all the blueberry muffins. Yummy!
Wow!! Even something for Lola!!I
I don't remember who has a pup named Pebbles. Is it you Robin, or Charleen?
Lola needs a new sweater for sure. 11" will fit her. Love that blue and gold. Will match her beautiful tan. Even a kitty toy! Lovely lizard, too pretty to be mauled at. Me think it's gonna be Lola's toy, if you don't mind, Pebbles' Mama? Would you believe that Lola is smaller than the adult cats? Lola says she wufs Pebbles and Pebbles' Human Mama.
Sistah Judy explained to me that she rewrap most of the gifts. She did a beautiful job.
The next box had this beautiful pendant tied around it!! Thank You Betty!!!!!! The bluecross glitters in its' cobalt blue resin mold. Lawdy, it is so brilliant in the light!!!
I don't own much cross pendants, in fact this is my second. The first was gifted to me by dear Deborah (Cordeledawg) @ BJ's sistahs gathering.
I'll wear it with pride.
This is what's inside Betty's box.
Enchanting ain't it? A silverware windchime!!!!
Lolol.... again, Betty, my first cutlery windchime was in my first swap, from none other than Deborah!!! What a conincidence.
I'll hang it in front of the bedroom wndow, as yours chimes harmonious notes!!
We can never have too many windchimes around here! Got to keep the winds and the humans happy!
Love you Betty!!
Are you seeing what I'm seeing??? I can't believe my eyes neither! 5 EXQUISITE critters from our very talented clay artist Charleen.
Lord have mercy!! Charleen, I always say, one day, I'll own one of your works as I've always admire them when you post pics. But to own 5?? I've hit the jackpot! Pinch me someone!!
There's Charley with a red, white and blue halter. Is it Charley's hair you used? Such a handsome mule.
The dragonfly is just darling!! The eyes are striking! Irridescent purple.
Then the frog perching on its' stick!! (If you've seen Jeff Dunham's puppet.. Jose Jalapeno on a stick) Too cute!
Yah, it will need it's shade for it will be sitting in a pot next to a South facing window.
She also made a fish bone and a cattle skeleton, Southwestern flair there. Never had anything like these.
Thank you so much Charleen!! You have very confident hands and you translate your vision very well. Love you so much!!
Hi everyone!! I've been gone way too long.
Ok, I have a question, Cookie why were you hooked up to a plasma machine??? So glad your dad is ok after that nasty fall, and I agree, he should not be living by himself with no care, so glad you're taking him in.
Jaye hope you're feeling better, mine turned into Pneumonia last Friday. I knew that when I had problems doing something and I had to go to the store, so I went and got fatigued just walking across Kroger grocery store, Bronchitis doesn't do that, so I just happen to have Advair left from my last cold that I had at the end of October PLUS an unfilled prescription of Prednisone, so since I use that specific pharmacy I filled that prescription and Advair, which also has steroids in it and I take it for Bronchitis, it's taken twice a day until symptoms go away. I took a puff of Advair Friday night before we went out, then New Years Eve morning, someone asked me if I was going out on New Years Eve, I said, "Of course!" They said, "But you have symptoms of Pneumonia." I said, "That's alright, I have already started my Advair and if that doesn't work I have a Prednisone Z pack in my cabinet and I'll worry about the Pneumonia on Sunday." LOL I'm a brave soul but I am a lot better.
