oh Tammy - I would have loved to see that - I can picture it in my head, and it sounds so funny!
General Discussion & Chat: Today, I am thankful for...#11
:-)
They can do some sweet things when they don't know we're looking .
Today I am thankful for the sweeter memories. Dear horse, Ginger jumped over the Rainbow Bridge today to run and fly with Lucky who went ahead in Dec. 2007. Again they will be able to run like the wind together in God's pasture. We thank Him for sharing her with
us since April 2005!
Here is a photo of white Lucky and Brown Ginger taken 4/07 as they begged fro French Fries at the living room slider. Baby horse Colora joined us in 12/07. She is the only horse left and is still out there in distress - calling out to Ginger. The last week has been a blur of Vet visits, special feeding and pain medication. She likely had 'stones' in her intestines and they just shut down. Barely drinking and not poo-ing. She suffers no more
I am thankful for a caring vet (and one who reduced his rates by less than 1/2 after the first visit. And I am thankful for a service that was thoughtful when they came to pick up Ginger after being put down.
A sad day . We all share the pain of losing a friend .
It looks like Ginger and Lucky had a fun life.
I am thankful for warm, rainy winter days that are perfect for transplanting. ~N~
Oh, gosh, quilty, she has such a beautiful face. I am so sorry for the loss. And thank you for sharing that story. Horses like french frys. Who knew? :-) (hugs)
Ah-h-h, Quilty. That is so sad. I was a real horse fanatic when I was a teenager. I worked shoveling stalls at a stable to get my first horse.
I am just thankful this workday is over. Today's work was a transcriptionist's nightmare. An Englishman with a lisp. An Indian doctor who spoke in very rapid-fire, heavily accented English. And, a interview in which the excitable writer spoke in broken, non-grammatical sentences. Whew.
Today, thanks are given for...
Flour tortillas
Online bank account access and usage
Global Positioning Systems
Today, I'm thankful for Spellcheck and sticky pads.
Spellcheck? ewwwwww one of the things I'm Not thankful for LOL It "puts words in my posting" that I don't mean LOL
LOL! I have a habit of transposing letters so it works for me.
Cute horses.
Spell check or auto correct?
Grateful for healthy recipes. Also grateful for fresh fruit, and fresh vegetables in the winter.
Spellcheck. I don't have Autocorrect. LOL Unless you count my mom's voice in my head. ^_^
LOL
I was in a hurry one day and decided to try the everything-at-once feature, "Correct All", in my SpellCheck. What a mess! I spent even more time correcting the corrections. It turned words like "Carrie" (what I actually wanted to type to carry. and so forth. I like the SpellCheck feature, but set so you have to click to agree before it makes the correction. Transposing letters is a problem for me as well. Also, doubling my punctuation.
I'm thankful today that, although we were under a tornado warning most of the day, we had nothing but heavy rain. k*
That is a relief, Kay. I saw the radar and was concerned.
I'm thankful for living through my sons 3rd deployment overseas. This time it is for a year, please keep him and his unit (900+) members in your prayers for a safe return to their loved ones.
Thanks everyone
Jan
We definately will, Jan! (Jim)

Happy Birthday to kiseta's dad! (applause, applause!)

===================================================
The movie, "Kung Fu Panda"
The tart/sweet juiciness of a perfectly ripe pear
Happy birthday !
I hate to tell you , but my dad has been long gone to the heavenly rose garden in 1988, I just celebrate his birthday because I missed out on the real ones, I left his house in 1969 and never had a chance to be at home on his birthday. When he found out he had cancer in 1979, he bought 100 bushes of roses and took care of them untill his death. Now when I think about him it is always in the rose garden, that is where I seen him last in 1983. Thank you for your good wishess. Etelka
You are welcome, and happy birthday to him anyway. Because if HE didn't have a birthday, then YOU wouldn't have a birthday. ROFL
Etelka - I too, celebrate my dad's birthday. He would be 110, July 22nd. I was born when he was in his 50's, and he shortly afterwards had lessened abilities to carry heavy toolboxes so had to give up being a plumber. He did other jobs (taxi driver, etc), but he was often home when I got home from school and I remember him being home a lot. My mom worked, so I came home to my dad after school. He passed away in 1982, but I still remember him fondly and try to live my live so he would be proud of me.
Two of my neices moved to Calgary, I have not seen them since they where little girls. They like it there, but it is to much snow around your part of Canada.
Thankful for a clean car (and the people who cleaned the interior), sun coming in the south windows, and the buds coming on all the trees.
Today, I am thankful for...
...happy family memories.
..Scrubbing Bubbles and Windex.
...Muenster cheese.
I'm very grateful for a lazy day off today. I putzed around a bit - planted a few seeds, baked a "healthy" decadent chocolate cake and organized my records of the rock garden society chapter to which I belong. Oh - and watched some mindless TV, shows that I've recorded but hadn't found time to watch.
Tam
Hi Tammy, I have been thinking about your place where you live, Barto and realized that I have been there in the Hungarian Sports club on Huff Church Rd. Many time in the past, in 1976-1983, I have been in the club cooking on Sundays and feeding the members. There where Scout camps and lots of fun for the kids. They have a Olimpic size swimming pool, and 100+ acres if land. They converted a old farmhouse to a nice restaurant, only for the members. The old 1956 refugies built the place up all with valuntere help and lots of Sunday lunches.I found out lately that the members are getting old, and the kids don't even know the Hungarian language. I hope it will not die out, but like anything else if you don't carry on the tradition, it will die with us. That time I was living in Norristown Pa, close the King of Prussia. It's a small world. Etelka
Wouldn't a world wide reunion be wonderful ?
Thankful that after three days , Weight Watchers seems to be working . Too much , I'm afraid .
Would be fun, wouldn't it? Was taking a flight a few years ago. First time in an airport in five years, four million people in the DFW area, and the TSA attendant two lanes over was my former employer's oldest son. It had been 25 years since I'd worked for the man, but I knew I recognized the gate guy from SOMEwhere. It was weeks before I pinpointed, then it felt a little eerie. What are the odds of that happening? Should have gone up and said, "Haven't I seen you somewhere before?" LOL
wow! Etelka that is very close to me. We actually live in Hereford Township in an old farmhouse. Hereford post office doesn't deliver so the official address is Barto. I walk along Huff's Church Rd as part of a 5mi loop (during nicer weather). I don't know about that Hungarian Club - I wonder if its still there & we just never noticed it? Small world!
Tam
Small world. Looks like it's still there. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Philadelphia-Hungarian-Sport-Club/111698975534000
Grateful for wooded Arboretum and Botanical Gardens to walk in, birds at the bird watching area, and the sun shinning on ice on the creek.
How fun, Tam! Go check it out and tell them Etelka sent you. :-D
=========================================================================
Today, it is:
Gas stoves with electronic pilot lights (think I've said that before, but that's part of what I am thankful for TODAY. :)
Google Maps
Parsley. I rarely use it for food, just like the way it looks. Still growing green and strong in my front yard.
Last time I was there it was 1983, so I don't think anybody would remember me. The old people died out, the young ones where babies then. The mamories also have some bed side to it. I met my ex-husband there, nice man but after the wedding when I moved in his house, I found out he was a horder. He would not let me clean out the house and get rid of anything. After about a year trying my best to make a nice home, I gave up and left. In all my troubles I turned to gardening in his yard, I had the nicest garden that year, planted 100 tulip bulbs which I never seen blooming since I left in the Winter. We pay dearly for trying to fix the unfixable. But life goes on.
Thanks so much everyone. And to those who continue on with the birthdays of their fathers, how grand is that. Great idea I think I will do that for my mother, as my father is still on earth.
Thankful for another day to be gone which mean another day closer to my son returning home.
Looks to be another beautiful day here, hope the northern friends here are staying warm.
Jan
