Grateful for happy cats shown in photo above, great time off with DH, and Christmas at the Park lights.

Thank you for the new thread Susan! Those kitty's look like they enjoy each others' company. :-)
I so appreciate this thread and all of you who take the time to think about what is in your life to be thankful for and share it with us here.
Tam
Today, I am thankful for
Pickled jalapeno peppers -- good for stuffy noses
Toaster ovens -- good to keep from heating up the whole house
Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan -- good to give us a more concrete understanding of how different and dangerous military lives often are, and to be more grateful to those who choose to make the sacrifices
Let's see...
Avocados
Onions
Cuddly Kitties
Draw Strings
Flashlights
Metamucil
Eye Droppers
Pine needles from a friend to mulch my green things with . We don't get them here , in bales . Too expensive when you find them .
Pine needles are scarce here, too, it's not the right climate. But I hear they are good for mulching daylilies, so maybe I should take a trip to East Texas and gather some. :-)
=========================================================
I am thankful for:
new thermometers
soup, all kinds of soup except vegetable. (only like that kind cold as gazpacho LOL)
peppermint soap
I buy them by the bale from Wal Mart back home .
Grateful for electric lights, rocking chairs, and woodfloors.
grateful for snuggly kitties
Thankful for SleepyTime tea, honey and a silly dog.
I guess we should buy a baler. Lots, and lots, and lots of pine straw here for me to rake. ~N~
I can get all the pine straw I want from the forest. I just have plain ole leaves. But they make a good mulch. We sold some of our land and I thought today I'd point out some of the very old dogwood trees. I am thankful for dogwood trees.and Forsytia and lilacs.
We have pine but the needles are of the short kind and you have to keep the ground mowed to have clean needles .So many limbs and twigs that it is easier to buy them . I wish we had pine like we have here . The needles are red when they dry and so long that when you rake them , they just roll up .Lucky you .
Today I am thankful for all the info to be gleaned from the computer on any subject. This morning, in reading some of my "prepper" sites, I found some books I may get: "Mini Farming, Self Sufficiency on 1/4 acre" and "How to Grow More Vegetables and Fruits, Nuts, Berries, Grains and Other Crops Than You Ever Thought Possible on the Less Land Than You Can Imagine". The second book is available in a ton of languages and the author has been active for over 25 years teaching the world to grow their family's food in often times less than desirable growing climates.
Aren't we always more optimistic in anticipation of the coming growing season? Right now I have visions of lots of green plants wafting in the gentle breezes. None of the visions include the gophers eating from underneath, the winds being 80 MPH and hot as h***, mornings that will freeze them brown, the insects eating away or the need to get someone to water if I am not home! I will just harvest beautiful and plentiful veggies then buy dehydrators and canning equipment. HA-HA.
Clematis looks very healthy. I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of the blooms.
I’ve never seen bailed pine needles at Home Depot or Lowe’s. It must be a regional gardening product.
Grateful for peanut butter, old churches (one of them burned to the ground in town last night), and firemen. The church that burned last night was one that I started barn dancing at years ago. Huge stone and wood type that’s been here for around 175 yrs.
Q G , have you checked out container gardening , here on D G ? I'm doing e-buckets and have tomatoes under a hoop house . Gym Girl has a wealth of info .
I'm a lurker on the e-bucket thread. Will be trying several different e-bucket designs this growing year. It sounds good. My garden is always at its best in late December and early January...when it is still all in my head or on a landscaping computer program.
Today, Fenny-dog says she’s thankful to be partnered with such forgiving folks. She doesn’t know we just couldn’t find a big enough box to ship her to Timbuktu. Evidently, she got cold outside, but couldn’t get anybody’s attention to let her in, so she decided under the house might be warmer. Getting under the house must have been easier than getting out. In her panic to get out, she disconnected some wires. Nadine and Kay both lost hours of computer work. It has been one of THOSE days! I’m thankful today that I know I’ll be thankful tomorrow that I didn’t have a larger box around. :-) (Jim)
Sorry to hear about Jillian Michele Smith's death.
Very pretty Japanese maple. Ours are in their winter sleep mode.
Grateful for DH who spent part of the day replacing the dryer exhaust, for spring gardening catalogs, and for a warm December day (above 60).
Thankful for those people who have generalized fix-it skills. They are becoming rare.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year! ~N~
Sorrow looks back
Worry looks around
Faith looks up
I am thankful for the hope of a new year.
I like that one, Debra. It would make a good "touchstone." (That is what we call the decorative concrete pieces scattered around the garden with inspirational things written on them.) ~N~
Good Morning!
Today I am grateful for one more day of vacation. I need to restock the house with healthy foods.
Tam
I would be very pleased if you chose to use it at Amargia, Nadine. :-)
Grateful for electric dishwashers, ovens, and washing machines. They all make holidays much easier.
Today, I am thankful for:
Chocolate cake with fudge buttercream icing
Bingo with my sister
"The Farmer's Daughter" with Ethyl Barrymore, Joseph Cotten, and Loretta Young
Was the chocolate cake with buttercream your birthday cake? Birthday hugs from Kay and I. We will bring you some touchstones for the Green Amber Project when we make it out that way.
Today, I'm thankful for ratchet pruners and Goldfish...the cheddar-flavored kind, not the ones that swim in bowls. :-) Jim
It was. Although it was a company holiday, I worked a few hours yesterday morning, along with the shipping supervisor and two warehouse guys. The boss stopped by before we left and brought me a little cake and a big sub sandwich. We have so many January birthdays at the office, including his, that this year I asked we have one for him on his b'day, then a single gathering around the 18th for the rest of us. But he HAD to make sure there was a cake for me ON the day. LOL My sister and I went to Bingo after. I am not all that fond of it, but she loves it and it was a good excuse to give her some pleasant time out. She's had an extraordinarily tough year. She is taking both of us to the casino on the 28th, which is her birthday. Again, she likes it more than me, but I am happier when SHE is happy, soooo.....
A late Happy Birthday!
Grateful for sunny winter days, birds at the feeders, and DH's sense of humor.
Grateful I got four cats trapped and in a better place and only one to go .
Thankful for my DH, my family in Winnipeg, that my DD married a good man, my DSIL
Thankful for my online friends (in both rooms)
Thankful that I have a roof over my head and food on the table, and fresh clothes whenever I want.
Thankful that the Lord blessed me with breath everyday.
Today, I'm going be thankful for Planet Earth. So much entertainment.
Today I am grateful for the sweet potatoes I'm still eating from last summers' garden.
Tam
I'm grateful for a cat who is feeling better this morning, a freezer to put our garden food away in, and cookbooks/cooking web sites.
Today, I am thankful for:
Understanding doctors
Cozy dogs
Stretchy pants when you have to sit all day
Oh yes , stretchy pants that grow with you , as mine have . LOL
Tonight I am very grateful for our fully functioning furnace. Wow is it cold outside!
Tam
I'm grateful for a high of +15C today!! yikes - almost spring-like weather!
Wow... that's wonderful. We're in negative territory (in degC) here. Single digits in degF
Tam
