We loved your place when we last visited, real country living. Your free range chicks are absolutely beautiful, how do you keep them out of the garden? Son Richie wants to get a half dozen for his farmette, but he's worried that they will destroy everything that grows in the garden.

New Bees Chat - Friends old and new, come on in 12-9-2011
DON'T LET THEM FREERANGE . I love my Abigail but I have to put up fences and screens over the top of things. The little chick Abigail hatched out last October I named Kaitlin. Guess what??? Kaitlin is a rooster but I'm not going to change his name.
Isn't he gorgeous?? Al you are welcome to come back down anytime, you and your wonderful sweet wife.
You are right Crit. Slowwwwww!!! If you need any I'll dig thru my seed bucket and find you some Datura seed. I don't plant them but I do think they are beautiful...
Someone gave me my first moonflower/datura last year at my first Round up. It got to be quite a monster with 20 blooms at a time! I am not going to grow it this year. It took up too much room and I have other giant plants that can use that space for more productive things like letting some butterfly come and lay eggs on them so their offspring can eat eat eat the giant plants. That's the Cassia alata/Senna plant(s) anyway. They are host to sulfur butterfly larvae - I planted in the wrong place last year and it didn't get enough sun to bloom at the end of the season SO into the datura's space it will go.
Arejay sent me several packets of moonflower seed too. Any takers? :D
Al - what lovely tribute to you and your family to have those sweet babies named after you. I hope they get big and strong and come out of the hospital real soon. :)
Patti - I can never get over you and your grand baby pictures.
And such pretty flowers Nettie and Charley. Thanks for sharing - I received some Iris in trade last year - one of which is white which I planted in my doggy's memorial garden. FOTV sent it to me - it's called 'Immortality' and I am so looking forward to its bloom.
Amanda, thank you.
Here is a squirrel that decided he wanted to go to the oak tree, didn't seem as frightened as I thought he should be. He stopped and looked at me long enough to get this picture. those chickens are underfoot when I go dig in the yard, The black one, Abigail is fearless. She does lover her grubs and worms...
Squirrels are happy when there are ground feeders in the yard. :D
Cute pic - makes me feel right at home.
hi everyone ive spent half the day on the porch butterfly watching they have been on everything thats blooming. i love it hope to do the same in the morning. love and hugs nettie good night love and hugs to you all
rrm your flowers are so pretty i love them love you nettie.
I have iris blooming in the pots I put them in "temporarily while the new bed got set up" and they are still there! Overwintered great with very little soil as I was expecting to plant last fall. DH is bringing up rock for me to set up the new bed as we speak, so am hoping to get to start setting in the ground soon. Other than that, I do not have any blooming.
Thank you Dear Nettie. I noticed I have a couple of Peony blooming. I got to go get a picture for you all.
My first rose bloomed yesterday. Too early for peonies here, but they are growing!
Some how I knew you would love the iris "Red Rider" Charle, I'm glad you're enjoying it !!!
No irises here. I see a few stalks. Usually I start to see the SDB irises the end of April & beginning of May.
Has anyone heard from Locakelly ? Are you feeling better Nettie? Crit how are your irises doing ? I think Amanda needs irises ;-)
Al, congratulations on those triplets !!! Tulips are starting to wake up here. Thank you again.
Mit

Hi Mitt - glad to hear from you. I've got your irises growing all over the place, too. So far we've only seen crocus and daffs, tulips are on the way. My tomatoes and peppers are preplanted and just popping through under the light stand.
Becky and the Trips are doing well, we got her out of the hospital last thursday. The little ones will have to stay in the incubators for a while, with visits often from everybody. They are so snuggled up in their incupods it's really hard to take photos, but they will grow up soon enough.
Al
Hey mitt ..... good to see you!!!!!!!! My iris are still in the pots I put them in after I received them in the fall. New iris bed still not done, but working on it! The iris are doing GREAT in their little pot homes. Some are even blooming there! I can't wait to get them planted.
I don't recall seeing Locakelly on any of the threads I've been on.
Beautiful pics of your iris!!!!

Charleen, your irises look gorgeous! I bet Charlie is one happy mule in Springtime. My tulips are just now starting to pop, I'll have more later. Daffs are out just in time for Easter.
We're traveling north to be with Becky and Jason for a couple of weeks over the holidays
Al
Nettie, I will try to remember to tell her.
Al, Charley would be even happier if he could graze in my yard. They keep the pasture nibbled down...
Here's first up baby pictures for you ladies. First out of the pod was Sydney (girl) shown with Grandma Ellen. Second is Landon (boy) on a snooze. Third is Emerson (boy) basking in the ultraviolet light of the incupod.
That's what we've got bloomin' here!
