That's a wonderful photo, Rosemary.....it must be bittersweet for you knowing the kids will all be off to college next year....Pixie, Charlie gets cuter by the day.....

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for your thoughts, Robin. Just can't get every thing done in senior year. My son just had to quit orchestra to get time to study for the Math II subject test. The stakes just get higher and higher. Fortunately the conductor invited him to play-in or return any time.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

That's nice of him. DS played her flute at Midnight service last night.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

jan, you'll probably never forget what your daughter sounded like. A wonderful memory.

Any New Year's plans????

We meet for church on Saturday nights since we are currently renting space from another church so we'll be having a party after service with catered foods and apps and desserts provided by individuals. Don't know if I'll be well enough to go though, I feel really bad I was supposed to do the decorating...I had all these really cool ideas too....NUTS....

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Feel better Jen!

We babysit the girlies, will have them all afternoon and night this time. We don't party to much to begin with so New Years isn't any different for us!! LOL
I enjoy having the girls, we will have a fire in the yard and toast marshmallows and eat popcorn. We let them stay up if they can, so far they haven't made it until midnight but I think this year they might!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

No, no plans this year. Maybe, we could build a fire, too. That sounds great!

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

A Yule Log sounds like just the thing! Quite an interesting tradition and history. Hre I can view two fireworks displays from my yard as downtown Annapolis does First Night with fireworks at seven for "kids" and then again at midnight for "grown ups".

Was always jealous the New Years arrived on the East Coast an hour before than my childhood home out in the country near Chicago.

One year I celebrated New Years Eve on the Staten Island ferry! Magical to hear all of the joyful noise New York City can make!

Quiet or noiseful may the passing of the old and the coming of the new be a treasure to us all. Judy

South Hamilton, MA

We don't New yrs party. I watch football, hard on the DH.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

We have DH's sister and cousins over for New Year's Day. Pork roast and sauerkraut is on the menu.

Came down to my DH's house early in the week to help out while she goes thur some blips with her pregnancy. Her siblings decided to drop in for the weekend to spend some time with her since she doesn't move from the house much.H Today we decided to let her 5 year old stay home from kindergarten, and it's a good thing that we did! His dad won't be home from a business trip until tomorrow AM and my daughter went to the hospital this morning to see what the cramping is all about. There would have been no one here for James after school. I am beginning to REALLY appreciate the way things have been falling into place in our lives so that we have been able to cover all events and emergencies.

I did have use of her car yesterday and did all the shopping for the breakfasts, lunches and dinners while the crowd is here. New Year's Eve dinner will consist of hot and cold appetizers, salad, lasagna and marinated filet mignon roasts. We have sparkling grape juice and citris juices for the kids' toast and James and I are practicing "Auld Lang Syne" so that we can provide some quality entertainment. I hope they don't Boooooo us.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We always stay home. We will stay up for midnight, then usually go to bed.

I will probably be in bed by 11....on New Year's Day, there will be six of us for corned beef & cabbage.....don't know why it's become a tradition....my aunt used to serve 'lucky bean' soup.....
