Today, I am thankful for...#10

(Debra) Garland, TX

I am thankful for Apple Cinnamon air freshener (most of what my receptionist tends to get is very cloying)
Thankful for intuitive friends who know just what you need even when you may not know it yourself.
Thankful for organizations like Jonathan's Place. It is a home for abused kids and this is the second year my company will fill a trunk with personal care products, makeup, toys, art supplies, cleaning supplies, bedding, and 'stuff.'

(Zone 7a)

We have a place like that here. The Christmas Box House. The name was inspired by the book of the same name. Good for you, Deb.

DH says I have a "look" that, when I use it, he knows he needs to walk very...very...care...fully... I don't have a clue what he means. Heh heh heh

Today, I'm thankful for how chocolate smells, corrective lenses and notepads.

I’ve gone so far as to practiced “the look” in the mirror, but I just can’t do an effective scowl. Chubby cheeks and freckles spoil the effect. Really. Can you name one scary, freckle-faced villain?. (I will have to find the book, Freckles, Vickie. I seem to remember something about an adult orphan and guarding precious timber trees. Is that it?)
Today I’m thankful for artificial sweeteners you can cook with. The oatmeal-Cinnamon cookies came out good. I have found food to be as effective a tool for managing men, as it is with children and dogs. Food is amazing stuff. ~N~

Thankful for a weekend with my Great GS . and all the DG friends I've met in person .
Will be thankful to get another heater in the close dryer . This one went on the blink yesterday .

Thankful for eggs for breakfast, cats who like to purr loudly when sitting on my lap, and clean carpets.

I'm thankful for honest car repairmen. I've been twice told my car needed new brakes at the dealership and twice my local garage said they were fine but suggested maybe I change them in 6mo. So I took it in today and asked for him to change them all. He just called and said it really wasn't necessary yet. But since its 100K miles w/original brakes, I just said lets change 'em out and be done for the next 100K miles.

I'm thankful for all of you and wish you all the merriest of Christmasses.

My puter is down with a dead battery but: I'LL BE BACK!

We'll be waitng Katie. Merry Christmas all.
Tam, I've got one of those honest repairmen. They are a real rare find.He is also a very busy man.
I found when nothing else worked in getting my way with DH. Food did.
specially bisquits and pie.

That dadgummed dog has settled into his new home okay, don't you think? :-)

Went to one of my employees. His wife is home during the day, they have Kayla (in the photo) and four year old Anna. Took a few hours for the dog (renamed Benji by Anna) to get comfortable. But I've been told that he finally walked over to the baby and nudged her a little with his nose. She grabbed his neck fur, pulled herself up, and they went for a stroll down the hallway. The parents will send me a photo, once they find the camera. LOL

oh Debra- that is wonderful! I'm thankful the arrangement works so beautifully for all involved.

That's great, Debra. It isn't always easy to find a smaller dog that is good with children. My SD in NY got a pitbull mix from the local pound. I thought that would be a disaster, but it is working out well to my amazement. You never know.
I’m grateful for precocious spring blooms on rainy winter days…whatever they are. Lol.. I thought this was a paperwhite, but it doesn’t look like any of the pics in plantfiles. Smells like the jonquils that are also blooming. I'll start my search for its identity there.
I am also thankful to still have my Dad. He turned 87 today. (Jim)

Debra It's wonderful to hear that he is working out with the new family. Sounds like he's going to be great with the little one.

Grateful for a good report on Budd's teeth cleaning today, no sticking snow in the area, and holiday gingerbread house displays.

Today, I am thankful for...

Having an oven at the office so I could cook the turkey given to my sister. (Her oven doesn't work.)
Having a flexible vet's staff who don't mind my calling at the last minute for med refills.
Having plenty of food, clothing, and warm dry shelter.

Today, I am thankful for:

relatively mild weather (not cold enough for ice or snow, have just a little rain)
enough energy and motivation to do a little housecleaning (very little, but some LOL)
Wooden backscratchers with "fingers"

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

I am thankful for Christmas music and candles, a lighted Christmas tree, Jesus and what HE stands for.

Dahlonega, GA

I second that !

Texas has strongly defined cultural populations, which is part of what has made us so independent. Yet, as diverse as we are, we all celebrate the same holidays for the same reasons--family and belief and faith--which is part of what brings us together as community.

So today I am thankful to be able to say to everyone...

"Merry Christmas" and "Feliz Navidad" and "Veselé Vánoce!" and "Froehliche Weinachten" and "Mừng Chúa Giáng Sinh"

Hope it is safe and peaceful and joyous.

SE/Gulf Coast Plains, AL(Zone 8b)

I just echo all the things said above today.
Christmas as a diabetic is going to take some getting used to. I got sugar-free drink mixes, fruit, nuts…and a PICKLE in my Christmas stocking. ROFL. I’m thankful it was one of those pickle-in-a-bag kind. Everyone else got a pickle in their stocking too. :-)
Merry Christmas to all of you from all the benignly crazy folks at Amargia. k*

Well, the pic I posted IS a paperwhite daffodil. I don't swim that well, but I'm diving into the depts of daffys. I just know someone will jump in and save me if I flounder. Echoe of your sentiment, Quilty.
'May Night' on a December afternoon. I like that. :-) (Jim)

Love the image of your diving Jim! :-)

I'm very thankful to be home! The weather turned nasty today - was pouring rain on my drive. I saw a number of accidents but was able to get home with only mild delays and no real issues. I got to visit my mom, my brother, niece, nephew & sister in law, my dad, step mom and step brother as well as a few friends from high school. A very nice few days. And yet, its very nice to be home.
