Yes, good luck, Sherrie! Hoping that estimate is too high and it will be more reasonable. Glad he was helpful
Coffee Break #68 - Turkey Time!
we have a good guy that did work for us a few years back when we were doing the living room over.. they wired the ceiling fan all new outlets.. light switches.. put 3 lights outside on the deck .. two new outdoor outlets on the other side of the room.. in just a few hours.. he kept calling and calling to see if we were done painting so he can finish up.. and of course we were working and painting.. so he was getting mad we were taking too long.. needless to say he is a fast worker.. have to see if it's worth upgrading the power panel while we are at it.. it's full and I am sure there will be many more holiday lights in our future .. the UPS guy was busting our chops when he stopped today saying we abused our power lines.. it doesn't surprise him that they are tired and not working..LOL
Funny!
Great when you get a reliable contractor. So many bad ones out there.
yes it is.. and the general contractor we use.. he has all those guys lined up.. plumbers, painters whatever... he is the guy I call if I need anything done.. he does lots of big stuff.. and if those guys do not meet his approval for being timely or good .. they are outta there.. has to be up to his standards.. I know that contractor costs more.. but totally worth it.. no headaches!!.. and his family grew up in the town next to my Mom's... same mentality .. the first time I met him.. felt like I knew him for years.. hit it off right away.. he used to be here an hour or so after he was done working .. just talking to us.. to the point that he is invited to every party we have .. had his wife and kids here playing with the halloween stuff too .. and I have my dad kiss up to him by bringing jelly crumb buns from a local bakery that he missed being up here
That's great. I need to find someone like that. My guy has retired.
We're having trouble finding a good union plumber to do work for us, to show you how smart the last guy was.....
he was mowing over the leaves last week and when the pile was too much for it he would hand feed it into the mower......do we all know what happened next???
at least it was only a tip of a finger
Ouch
Why was the plumber mowing??
Don't most people mow their lawns no matter what they do for a living?
Oh I thought he was doing YOUR lawn!
LOL no...he WAS 1 of our subcontractors
amazing ... the silly things people do
Debi, I don't ride with my brother...he rides with me! Allison, hope the work doesn't cost that much....I hate those 'surprises'! Your plumber did a dumb thing, so did this guy my son was helping move his sporting goods store to the next town...put his finger in the table saw yesterday, but thankfully, only a small part was cut.....just a quick ER visit....shook up my son, though....
Going to an engagement party Sat. It's my cousin's son. What is an appropriate cash amount to give if I go the cash route. $50??
I'd say fifty was decent. Its the average for a gift these days.
I cut down on cash gifts to grandchildren at Crismis because there were'nt any "thank yous"
Birthdays too.
Never went to an engagement party...too many gift giving occasions, bah humbug!
That sounds right to me.....my DIL is going to a baby shower tomorrow, so I have the kids all afternoon....
Sounds right to me
Might try this at the next nursery sale.

We are having our Tday dinner at sil's tomorrow. I can't wait. Drooling for turkey and homemade noodles. Especially seeing what everyone had for their dinners!
But the pepper spray used was made from free-trade, organic peppers, so I'm cool with it. ^_^
And to think I was going to ask Santa for pepper spray! Saw the strangest animal this morning...it crossed in front of my car as I was approaching property belonging to the dam....dark brown, no tail , short, heavy body & legs....looked like a feral pig...dashed clumbsily across the road...since it was only 1/4 mile from my house, I'm reluctant to let my dog out.....
ROBIN be careful out there.Wild pigs can be dangerous. Probably someones pet thats no longer cute.
If you go walking take your pepper spray made with free -trade organic peppers.
Victor L O L.
i agree debi - victor it depends on what they feed you:)
My turkey was cooked the best I have ever done (not a high bar) and it was a local turkey that had been pasture raised but the meat was bland. I could have maybe used some pepper spray to give it a little zing.
I wonder when Pepper Spray School Cop will be on Good Morning America and the O'Reilly Factor?
Its really sad that as a culture we havnt learned to controle our reactions that make us operate under the assumption everyone and everything is a threat.

yeah for your personal best Memory!!
That turkey looks yummy, Memory....I was talking to my DH's BIL yesterday....he's a hunter in NH....and I told him what I saw...his first word was 'boar'...he also said there was an article in the paper recently about how the boar population in NH is growing....so, JoAnn, thanks for the warning, they are mean & nasty critters....
Double YAY for Memory!!!
Not reading it, till the season for good thoughts and wishes. ^_^
Yay for Yank!!!
