Thanks, Deb. She just got off the phone with the mom.
Coffee Break #68 - Turkey Time!
sorry about that. Physicans must be strong.
How awful! I'm sure the mother appreciated your wife calling.....
That is a tough one for sure. Hugs.
Oh, to lose such a little one! It just shouldn't happen!
So sorry....I couldn't do it either. My friend goes and reads to the kids at the children's hospital...don't know if I could do that either, I'd be tearing up all the time
The freaks in Occupy San Diego actually held a moment of silence for the guy who shot the WH. Incredible.
That is just sad.
sigh
Cop in NY was slashed in the hand. Another had some liquid thrown in his face. My BIL has to work down there again this weekend.
I said to Randy this morning.. I feel bad for anyone that lives or works there
This shows how much they care about that.

Victor, is your wife a pediatrician or a neurologist or some other specialty? One of my DD's is struggling with whether she can handle patients dying, so she can't decide on premed vs. bioengineering. She volunteers with kids and she loves bones too, so it's a wonder how it will work out. She also wants to study Latin and classics. Any encouraging words? For now she's forgetting it all so she can visit the Twilight opening tonight in theaters.
Our Thanksgiving plans are taking a detour to Pennsylvania. The other DD has two college visits in suburban Philadephia colleges on the day before Thanksgiving, so we are joining a group of my cousins and their families near Easton. DD thinks I only want her to look at Haverford so I can tour the greenhouses which I admit I've never seen.
Usually we alternate Thanksgivings with a former colleague and her family, but they forgave us for not hosting this year. We'll have a Christmas event instead.
She is a physician, Rosemary. She is a rehab doc and spinal cord specialist. She treats many different disabilities, as well as musculo-skeletal stuff. She is double boarded.
My plan was to go into biomedical engineering after getting my EE degree. Did not work out as Columbia U was shockingly unprepared. Was given a complete scholarship for grad school by them and ended up not going at all. Ironically, I ended up working for them for 17 years!
I would really think twice before going into medicine these days. My wife works like a dog. On a per-hour basis, she lags most decent careers in pay.

Was wondering if our State would continue to donate wreaths with the economy the way it is. Was very proud to see that my State will not let it stop this tradition. ^_^
Anyone in or near Arlington Cemetary on Dec. 10, 2011 should see this. If there is snow on the ground, it's quite a sight to behold.

This one has a slide and you can see them w/the snow.

Wow.
You're so right about the per hour rate when all is done.
She's an amazing women Victor. :)
wow is right
Yes she is. Think I'll keep her - at least for now. ^_^
You better, Victor!
Very neat organization
Thanks for the info, Victor. I'm saying to the kids don't go into law or psychology if you want to have a decent living. The young ones have some tough choices ahead. Your wife is doing God's work, in my opinion, and probably you too. In the end I believe it depends upon what floats one's boat.
Since we're on Thanksgiving, I guess there is a lot for which to give thanks, and those who risk or sacrifice their lives for our country deserve every remembrance.
I am a full-time dad these days. I have never called it God's work. On the contrary...^_^
Yes - you need to major in something in demand. Psych majors sell fries.
Raising children well means a better future. Each child brings their own channel of love, if only we can help them to keep it open.
Well Robin, I guess the CEO of CT Utilities couldn't take the heat or criticism. :)

I wonder what his golden parachute is?
Well said, Rosemary.
So very thankful for our servicemen and women and the freedoms this country has.
Looking forward to seeing the newest DGD tomorrow and her sisters.
CT has the second HIGHEST cost for electricty (19.25) - beat out only by Hawaii (28.1). Go Hawaii - nice to come in second for a change.
Yeah, but it's always nice in Hawaii....they don't use much power with the lovely ocean breezes.....you're lucky to have UI, Memory....Butler kept apologizing & that made folks madder.....they knew the lines were woefully outdated because no money had been put into maintenance......Rosemary, steer your kids away from teaching as well, unless they are interested in teaching at a university.....
Victor, I think the kids are lucky to have you as a full-time Dad.
I was thinking the same thing, jumper!!!
Well, teaching may be on one kid's horizon, but i hope it is only as a safety job. She's the one who takes the most work to dream big. Sometimes believing in one's abilities is the work in progress. Their high school is very competitive and oxygen absorbing as well. For college, I hope she finds a bargain in a small liberal arts school.
Thanks, ladies!
Everything is $$ in Hawaii.
Rosemary - finding a bargain in any college these days is a miracle. Just wish there would be more outrage and investigation into the cost of higher ed. Has risen so much faster than everything else.
Just read that having 'country' in your street name adds 4.2% to your home's value! Interesting.
Teachers here are very well paid so I guess it's where you are. Odd about the country in the street name.
Incredibly well-paid here!
Not so great here, and it's getting tougher by the year......subbing has opened my eyes.
I am sure it depends upon the local community wealth. Afterall, they are not working for companies.
