Today, I am thankful for...#9
I'm so very thankful for all of our vet's. THANK YOU. (and I would like to say a special thank you to the vietnam vets who never were treaded very nicely when they returned home).
Jan
Today I am extremely thankful for Rt. Sgt. James W. Smith, Jr. I am proud of the service he gave to his country during the 20+ years he wore a uniform and the service he has given to his community since his retirement. k*
I caught two trout that were undersize . Son caught a coupla keepers , DH , a bunch , no keepers . My son's wife , Three keepers and a bunch , undersize . If it wasn't for her , we'd all starve to death . She always gets the most and biggest The D G D didn't go with us , her and momma would have cleaned the bay out .
:-)
Today I am thankful that I was able to work with Tony for almost four hours!!!! I've lost twenty pounds and it's making a difference in my knee already. My neighbor Dana tells me my face looks thinner and I look thinner and it's obvious that I'm walking better. I'm really tired now and I may be sore tomorrow but I feel like I'm returning to life. kb
Today, I am thankful that:
I decided not to wait around on my 'guys' at the office to find a decent television for me. Bought a new one--sale, yippee!! Set it up all by myself.
It was a lovely day.
I have DVD copies of Princess Bride, Major League 3, Murder by Death, the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice (want to get the Greer Garson version, do NOT care for the Keira Knightley version), Zorro the Gay Blade, and Men in Black I and II. Going to be a movie weekend. :-)
Those sound like fun movies Debra!
Today I am thankful to have had some time to do yard work. Picked up a bunch more sticks & branches and then used the bag on my mower to grind up the leaves. So now I have a clean house, thanks to preparations for our houseguests and a much nicer looking property. :-)
Tam
Oh man, what I wouldn’t give to be that thin again. Congrats on the weight loss, Kb. Nadine altered Kay’s diet because she was losing too fast. I am creeping along myself. Still tend to reach for food when I’m frustrated or in pain.
Coming from the cold outside into a warm room with a blazing fireplace is so homey and welcoming. We have central heat, but I’m thankful to have our fireplace back in operation for the ambience if nothing else.
Went to a concert put on by military personnel. There is a lot of musical talent in uniform. Happy to settle in with Netflix for the remainder of the weekend also. (Jim)
The boss had given me a new 42" plasma a few years ago that was stolen in the break-in. Truthfully, I wasn't all that sorry to see it go. Too big for where it was and gave off wayyyyy too much heat for a Texas household. :-) Hadn't replaced it, not the least reason is I still have a 20-year-old 27" glass unit that works just fine for sofa spud TV watching. The one I bought yesterday is a 32" LCD that I can also hook up to the computer and the baby DVD player. Good size for where it is, versatile, and cool--in both meanings of the word. LOL So I am thankful to have the temporarily flush funds to get it and that it was on such a good sale I could justify to myself spending the money in the first place. :-D
Today I am thankful for friends and sales! Went shopping with a couple friends today. We got some great bargains and had a really nice time.
Tam
Am thankful I finally got some sleep last night. Also thankful there is music.
I'm thankful for just today, and the incredible weather.
Jan
Today, I am thankful
that Zuzu's stitches were taken out today and she is becoming quite the rowdy little girl. :-) She is also the darling of the vet's staff. Comforting because if I am ever in the horrible position of having to find another home for my dogs, I know she will have her pick of the best.
that my dearest and only living sister (that I know about) made time out of her extraordinarily busy schedule to pick up Zuzu from my house and take her to the vet to have those stitches removed. I was late to work this morning (my own doctor's appt) and didn't want to have to leave early, too, on the same day. LOL
that I absent-mindedly put an empty glass in the refrigerator this morning. It was all nice and cold for soda with dinner this evening. [grin]
Debra, Glad you have a healthy dog back and a sweet sister.
Dillen is doing good too. Still taking antibiotics.A couple of the cats were glad to have him back too. They curled up next to him. That wont happen again.
One of my DD.s used to put her glass in the freezer.
I am thankful for pinesol, windex and rags and pizza.
welcomed returned of beloved compainions is most welcoming. Glad to hear the news.
I thankful for another day to be able to stay with my new training programing for weight loss...... It really hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be, but then I go late in the evening and only a few folks are there so that means I can get on the pieces of equipment I want when I want...LOL
Have a blessed day everyone.
Jan
Thankful for SOS soap pads .
Today I am thankful our two kitties came through their dental work w/o any issues. Zephyr had a tooth pulled as it was loose. She's gotten a dose of pain meds today. Scirocco is doing beautifully - no sign of pain at all.
Tam
Vickie, I am very happy Dillen is doing well. :-)
Jan, good news. It is often very difficult to stick with an exercise plan. Sounds like a good one for you.
Sally, OOH, I like SOS pads. Used to use them on the stainless steel sink and the enameled gas stove top. Discovered Scrubbing Bubbles works just as well on those surfaces as it does bath fixtures and stopped buying them. (easier on the hands)
Tam, that's great. Even though I don't have kids, I sometimes think it is harder to watch our pets go through medical than it is our kids. The kids can talk to us. Pets can communicate, but they can't say where it hurts. (hug)

Today, I am thankful for--
Long sleeve cotton t-shirts on a chilly day.
Chocolate milk
Discovering a new pack of batteries in the cabinet (remote control, doncha know LOL)
Today, I am thankful for Carl's Jr., airplanes, being able to pay off credit cards., veterinarians, muscle cars and oldies rock 'n roll. (Long Live Rock 'N Roll!)
Hi, kwan!
Hey! I've been away but now am back. I stayed current with this thread. I just haven't posted. I was building up a store on the Zazzle website where Dave's publishes their yearly calendar.
Debra, I'd be afraid to use them on the stovetop , but can't live without them for the metal rings around my burners or on aluminum pot bottoms and the insides of stained alum. pots. And copper bottoms.
Septic tank man that finally supposed to be here Early today ! (after three weeks of postponed appointments ,Where is he , it's 8:30 ?can bathe my dogs today .Hopefully !
Hey, Debra, does the Green Amber project have long sleeved shirts in Plus sizes? k*
womens long sleeves come up to 2xl. plus size womens only are in short sleeve
Septic man came late this afternoon . Got through at 4:30 . Brought a crew of four , even hand raked the soil out smooth .
Thankful to pay them , as that was a lot of work with the bobcat and shovel .
Now I can shower at home instead of going to my sons across the steet . Dogs will hate me tomorrow . Tsk , tsk .
Yeah on getting the septic tank back in working order!
Today I am thankful to be done working for the day. Whew was it a long one! :-)
Tam
Good on septic tank fixers! :D

I'm with Tam. The boss' 21-year-old daughter works with us. She earns her keep, its no nepotism blank check. But she is much like her father in single mindedness, having few boundaries when she is focused, and going off on ADD tangents. Makes for interesting, not to mention loud, times around the office when their similarities clash. Guess who's job "description" includes playing management mediator? :/ Today was one of the doozies and just started calming down around 5:30. I'm tuckered, and REALLY glad the work day is over. LOL
I'm thankful also for HAVING a job, and one that pays as well as this one does. Very, very grateful.
Thankful I went to Kroger tonight. Now have everything I need for the next week, including T'day dinner. :-)
OH I forgot a wonderful reason to be thankful today. My Dad called this morning asking if I was coming to visit for Thanksgiving. I confirmed and he said he'd make us reservations at a really nice place near him. Should be a wonderful meal! I'd offered to cook but he prefers to go out. :-)
Tam
Tee hee , Tam , is your dad trying to tell you something about your cooking ? Just kidding you . We aren't going to do anything special , just gonna buy a roasted chicken and make some dressing from leftover frozen cornbread , and make giblet gravy , fresh cranberry sauce , sweet potatos candied , a salad from frozen sweet peas and corn with red onions . Maybe a fruit pie of some sort . I only want the dressing with gravy and cranberry sauce .
I've lost 5 lbs this last two weeks and thankful for that so have to really fill up on water first , or it'll be right back on .
Really thankful for the new field line cuz pappa has the trots this morning . Really thankful . I think it's funny .
Today a white brug surprised me with an open bloom and three buds. After two years of barely hanging in. I'm very thankful. katie
I bet you are right Digger! I've been cooking for him (freezing the meals) for about 5mo now and maybe he is just tired of my cooking. :-) The real story is my step mother is depressed since diagnosis of dementia followed by the loss of her kitty (old age). I thought maybe they'd like to have the meal at his home but Dad's afraid she'd just get agitated or try to help and wear herself out. So we are going out!
On the weight loss - YEAH!!! I have kept my 63lbs off for well over a year now. You might want to have a little something with that water before your TG meal. I find something small (a piece of fruit perhaps) and a hot cup of tea about an hour before lunch really helps curb my appetite. And I also have several cups of tea or water during the afternoon to hold me over 'til dinner. And glad w/ya on the new field line too!
Today- thankful to have kept in touch with colleagues as friends long after we worked together. We're meeting up for lunch today. :-)

Reading these posts is better than warm pumpkin pudding with whipped cream (which I looooovve)
My thanks today are for all of you.
Thanks, Debra. Turns out Nadi doesn't like long sleeves anyway. I should have known. She doesn't feel the cold the way I do. I was working outside yesterday in lined wind pants, undershirt , sweatshirt and a light coat. Nadi was working beside me in capri pants and a t-shirt. It is about time for the battle of the thermostat to begin. :-)
We do Thanksgiving in a big way and go to restaraunts for Christmas get-togethers when holiday exhaustion starts creeping in.
It is those mad midnight munchies that give me trouble maintaining my weight.
Today I am thankful Nadine is afraid to try out any new dishes on guest and that there are quite a few new-to-her dishes planned for Thanksgiving. There is something to be said for being a culinary guinea pig. k*
i posted a short sleeve plus size with the cullins daylily on it. can make her whatever you want with regard to design.
================
Tam, dmail me some of your hints , or start a thread on them . I know all of us would like to know some of the things you've done to "get it off "
I'm a sweet freak , I seldom make pies and such because I can't leave them alone . I'll cop a spoonfull as I pass the table , all day long and it'll disappear by evening .
digger you sound like my kinda of folk...LOL
My grandfather taught me that in order to make sure you had room for dessert pie, to always eat it first, then the meal....
Jan
Absolutely , Meadow
