((((((((Mary))))))))) you are one of the best apologies our Lord can give, I feel certain. Betty is one of his beloved, too.
Ah, our angels on earth are certainly in your hearts all the time.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends!
Susan, thanks so much for today's quote ... I'll certainly agree with that!
Betty, so sorry you had such a crummy day. I hate days like that. Stay safe in that weather of yours!
Mary, I agree with Betty .. be sure and tell them there's no way you can change your plans as you have others depending on you. Maybe you won't have anything to worry about, though ... ☺ I hope you can have a wonderful time I especially am praying for your plant swap. I know that will be fun!
Katie, oh how very kind of you ... I know everyone is so very appreciative of each gift. That's awesome! Hope you had a good day today without too much pain.
Speaking of which ... meant to ask, how are you feeling tonight, Betty?
Barb, when will you get the results of your tests?
Well, we had a busy day today ... both got hair cuts (I got highlights), we went to Lowes and then to the grocery. I found a tea olive at Lowes that almost jumped right into my buggy, but I put it back. Of course, I'm checking to see if I have a spot in my yard. I *love those things!
Okay, ~ing to those I missed. Will try to BBL, but if not .. y'all have a blessed night!
Katie what a wonderful story about how you're Santa on Christmas Day, that is awesome and I bet you get such enjoyment out of doing it.
Betty darn that sump pump, glad you got it cleaned up. Yes MIL's can be quite, well, we all know what I'm saying. I had only met mine twice or three times and she was so strung out on Oxycontin she didn't have a clue as to what was even going on. I have more problems with my Sister in Law and FIL actually. LOL about the costume!
Mary this IS an opportunity to shine, they're not setting you up, quit being negative, you're reminding me of my mom and I can't stand that. I work conferences twice a year with 300 attendees and there is no game or or any other event to focus on, this IS the event, it's just my small office putting on this huge conference. Get into the groove of it, be happy to be at the game that you know you want to be at anyway, take time and meet and talk to everyone, and most important of all, DON'T forget to smile. I'm going to tell you first hand, if you keep worrying about it everyone is going to see it. Get those happy thoughts going girl!!!
I had a busy busy day looking for dressy rider boots, have been to all of the retail shops, went to every western wear store from here up to North Little Rock (about 45 miles one way) and nobody had anything!! Guess I'm going to have to search online and do the return thing until I find a pair that feel decent, I really don't want to do that but it's looking like I have no choice. Got home, was going to clean house but changed my mind, went back to town (15 miles away) and went to Walmart to pick up some stuff, ended up getting a frozen pizza to snack on tomorrow as I'm doing gardening work, came home, burnt the pizza, went to the drive in up the hill (about a mile) and got a cheeseburger, made pumpkin bread dough and that's in the oven. Now I'm pooped!!!
For those with nothing better to do who want to see how the other halfl lives, check out the LA craigslist.org. John Schneider's estate is being sold this weekend. It's really kind of nauseating.
I was remembering one Christmas when we were getting very low on candy at my last stop. One boy about twelve and bigger than most of the others edged his way closest to me. I whispered to him that we didn't have much candy left. Before I could even ask him to let the little kids have it, he jumped back and let them come forward. The kindness of children who don't have much themselves can be overwhelming.
hugs, katie
Katie does it say John Schneider's house or how is it listed?
Oh Katie!! I found a couple of links.
Here's the story

Here's the house with 16 pictures

Wow - Good Advice Crissy - No.... WONDERFUL Advice Crissy.... Can you text me those words Sunday 10/23 between 7p-10p every 1/2 hour ? LOL....
Will check out the house in a bit...John Snieder was Dukes of Hazzard, right?
Katie those memories are so awesome. I remember chaperoning the Band at their FIRST ever trip to Panama City (near my home town) and it was incredible for me to hear a couple of the girls comments.. this was their FIRST time ever to see the Ocean ! (Gulf)..... it made me tear up....
Crissy -what are the rider boots for ?
Suse - is a "tea Olive" like a Sweet Olive ?
Did I show Ya'll this book? It was at the Riverbend Bed & Breakfast that we stayed at in Natchitoches... the house has books all over it... it's just like you are at home....
anyway I ordered 2 of these.... 1 to keep and 1 to give as a door prize next Saturday...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0807844187
Crissy - I don't see 16 pictures of J S's house?! Both links just show the story.......
LOL Mary you know I will, dmail me your phone number!! Rider boots are a style of boot used for riding horses.
I posted the same link twice, let's try this again...

I like Dean Koontz and Stephen King type of books. I'm trying to like other books but I'm having a hard time of it.
Mary I like these but I tried them on and the heel is about an inch to short, I feel like my feet are low riding lol

oh Mary - we just watched the movie "soul surfer" - have you seen it? I wonder just how different the book & movie are, seeing as how they're based on a true story......
Thanks Crissy - checked out JS's house - he's really not asking much for it, is he? Heck, there are houses here with less, that they're charging much more........
The books by Janet Evonovitch featuring Stephanie Plum, which bein with "One for the Money" are fun. Mysteries featuring an inept bounty humter.
I also like John Sandford's books.
It's just after 4 am and I woke up, couldn't get back to sleep.
kb
Morning, you know it's not going to be a a nice day when the furries don't want to go out!
Pleased that I put all the garden art away a few weeks ago or someone in next community would enjoy next spring.
Crissy, I read John Grisholm and when I was at the hospital Friday a man was telling me I should try Tom Green, says his books are awesome..I'll have to ask Jeff to download some of his. Goodness Crissy, odd that all the stores would be out of your boots, can you order online and have no problems with the fit?
Katie, sometimesmwhen you overwork your mind doesn't shut down, guess many of us are burning the midnight oil! Always nice if you can slip in a nap or two during the day.
Suse think you should have left the sweet olive in your shopping cart, after all it wanted to go home with you..could have keptmit in a container for awhilenuntil you find the perfect spot. How did the highlights turnout, do you like the new you look??
Susan, that saying certainly fits the billmin many households..thanks for sharing. Are you excited about your first day of work tomorrow?
Debbie, hugs back to you my friend, know you have similar situation and understand the amount of courage it takes to be somewhere it's quite apparent you are not wanted..how have you been feeling, any improvement?
Mary, I think you will look pretty spiffy driving that antique car..these meetings will surely give hubby the bug to start working on it...sooo costly though, you'll have to get a part time job. Lol
Well, got all my housework done yesterday so it's back to sewing, making some headway so that is encouraging!
Sitting here trying to come up with a list of likes and dislikes re Christmas gift swap and if it's ok with Dianne I'll n,ot post one! You ask why, because this is a friendship swap and we give what we can, we give what our swap partner may like or even something we cherish.....
I for one will love whatever I receive and whoever is my swap friend...
Betty I can't order online and be comfortable with what I get, that never works unless everyone has good return policies, then maybe eventually I could find something I wouldn't have to return. It's not that they're out of my boots, they're not making my style this year. everything is either ankle high or knee high and I want mid calf height with a 2" heel, can't find a 2" heel either.
John Grisham is an excellent writer, I've read a few of his books. I've never heard of Tom Green, hmmmm I haven't been in a reading mood for a long time now.
Susan that's what the housing market is in CA, it tanked really really bad and hasn't recovered.
I need to get up and go clean the kitchen, seems I left it a mess last night and it didn't clean itself up for some reason, and I have to go up the hill to a neighbors house and visit for a bit, then into Benton to pick up my bc pills, then back the other way to Hot Springs to visit my friend.
Have a great day everyone!!!
betty, have you done those scarfs yet lol
I ws able to get back to sleep for a few hours and I feel better.
Here's my little MIL story - about the MIL of my friend Saul's wife (i.e., Saul's mother). She was visiting here a few years ago and I had struck up a friendship with her, in spite of our very limited ability to understand each other as my Spanish is not very good. Because of this I was invited to join a family group sitting on the patio. Saul was also there. He and I are very good friends, mostly because we can make each other laugh at silly things and I remind him that he is loved - his marriage is obviously not very happy. Our relationship has never gone beyond the occasional hug so there are no "elephants" in the room when I'm with his family.
On this occasion, Saul's mother suggested to me that maybe some day I would find a wonderful husband like her son. Seeing a dig at Saul's wife in the remark, I suggested that maybe I could be wife # 2 for Saul. There was a stunned silence and I turned to Saul's wife and said, in limited but adequate Spanish, "For the work and trouble he is for you, wouldn't it help to have someone to share problems of being his wife?" Everyone got a big laugh out of this, including Saul, and it definately helped to secure the friendship of Saul's wife who agreed that some help with him would be nice. I was glad to avoid being used in a tense situation and, beyond that, to give everyone a little laugh.
Can't remember if it was before or after that that I was stopped to leave off Christmas presents and Saul's wife was outside alone. As we greeted each other she gave me a big, loving hug. She is one of two Mexican women who have given me Christmas hugs that have done much to heal old Christmas hurts.
My father was an alchoholic and Christmas was especially hard for him so we all got to suffer along with him. I began to do my Santa thing as an alternative to having Christmas alone and depressed or with friends who were drinking a lot. It also give the lie to my father whose excuse was that his father had been an alchoholic who made Christmas miserable for his family. I decided it was time for the tradition of miserable Christmas'es to stop, at least for some people. The first year I did it, I went to Tony's house and Barbara, who was two-and-a-half and really into Christmas for the first time, came out of the house laughing, totally delighted. She knew it was me and a few weeks later she asked if I remebered when I came to her house dressed up as Santa. I assurred her that I did and a tradition was born.
Every year I have to force myself into the costume and out to my van. I remind myself that I'm wearing a beard so no one can see if I'm not looking happy. Once I start seeing people - and the kids know to watch for me - I'm fine.
More stories another time. I love remembering them.
hugs, katie
Soccer games yesterday so got nothing else done.
Making applesauce from apples brought back from camping.
Went to second hand shop yesterday and got a door and a round table.
Table is now in sewing space and love it.
The door we are going to turn into a coat rack/bench . We saw one at the festival and they
wanted 150.00 for it. NOT. We can make better and cheaper. Used door was 20.00 .
Football today if there is time.
Just read back on the tread a bit and I have to tell you Betty that you have the patience of a saint. There is no way I would continue to take your MIL's attitude. Who does she think she is? I would no longer attend any function when I knew it was for her. BUT on the other hand, I would NOT let her stop me from attending anything I chose to go to even if I knew she would be there. I might go just to get her goat...... Boy, that kind of stuff just frosts me. Life is too short for it.
Went to a new quilt class yesterday. Learned how to cut and sew diamond shapes. It was a lot of fun. Have you made any of those scarves yet???
Some of you have been asking about the results of my ultrasound and Cat scan. The gall bladder is okay-no stones. The bile duct is enlarged and there is a cyst on my liver. These things showed up with the untrasound and were reenforced with the scan. I have been having increased trouble with my breathing so I'm having more tests run over the next few weeks. My doctor is bound and determined to find out what's going on. So if I don't post or seem distracted or forget to wave or anything, please forgive me as it won't be intentional. I do read daily and now with this Ipad it is easier than running back and forth to the office. I'll be keeping my GOOD eyes out for all of you.
Off to watch a bit of football with Norm.....
Barb, sending prayers for you also....enough is enough for all of us! Nothing but healthy thoughts.
DH is watching the Giants/Bill's game. I dislike football so am going to go read some.
lordy, no tv, no Internet and no telephone until only minutes ago..felt lonely away from all of you..minute it came on here I was. Lol. Thank the Lord I still had power though so continued with sewing..
Sooo big wave to you all, even though you didn't know it you were being missed.
June called this morning to tell me somewhere she got a bargain on the glass blocks, you know the kind I was drilling, inserting lights and making nice bows..told her I'd take 4 to do just incase I run across someone who might like one..
Then Cathy called to check up on me and that is when the phone went dead.
Greg and Kyle dropped in and did what needed to be done, saved me trying to lift the wet vac then off they went, putting all those giant bikes in storage..need room for snow machines..drats, forgot to ask them what they got at the snowmobile show..think all were looking for new suits.
Ibsen smelling apple pie all day, realized the candle I lit was apple cinnamon..made me hungry so have tomato macaroni in the oven. Enough for 6 so I'd best be hungry, if not, won't be cooking for a few days.
Debbie, you are right, been hard few months for many..prayers to all in need.
Was thinking of you this morning, seeing as you can get out for a ride here a nd there do you think the girls might pick you and wheelchair up and you can make the Hamburg Craft show?? Know it's probably the last think on your mind but it might do you good..besides I could visit with you...
Barb, sure will keep you in my prayers..now that they know part of the problem will they arrange for surgery or wil the have to wait until breathing gets better before attempting treatment..you poor dear, bet you are worried sick as is Norm!
Glad you enjoyed your class, did a star with diamond shapes years ago, now I see they have a new method of doing them, will have to book an afternoon class to learn. They are making things so much easier nowadays.
You are enjoying your iPad Barb?? Makes it so convenient..
Katie, love your stories..you had one up on Saul's mom. Lol
sure got to hope I'm not one of t hose MIL's
Crissy, sure hope you can find those boots soon...bad weather is approaching..glad you are cooking regular meals..hard when you are just one.
Laura, think I know the piece you are thinking of making..somewhere recently I've seen one and thought I took photo's, will look ...ohhh nothing like a good working surface for sewing..how long before you had it covered with sewing materials? Lol
Barb and Liz , yes I have tried one and did learn by the experience..I had bought scarves from $$ store and cut them up into strips, no go,..object is to have soft and plyable fabrics so when I make the trip to Joann's I'll know exactly what is needed...are easy to do, beyond easy..hard part is materials/wool...
Gee whizz, the sun came out for awhile and I turned down the heat, now I'm filled..best I turn up the heat.
Betty, so glad you got your electricity back for the computer and phone. Hope you have no damage outside from those winds?
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1225433/#top
Come and check out the Christmas swap please?
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1224241/
There is also a Thanksgiving swap for anyone interested.
Betty - I'm not sure whether to be excited about the new job tomorrow or not - I've never met anyone at the company, nor do I have a job description - I've been given 3 different names for the position (last one was Relocation Administrative Assistant).
I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.
LK - is this the Christmas swap the only one that's been mentioned on this thread (I know Crissy is in on one)? If so, I didn't realize there was a $20 minimum...... With the mailing this lets me out cuz that's about a $50 total.
Susan, that is a different Swap for entirely DG community.....not just this thread.
Susan, I. Sure you will fit right in regarless of what they name the position..
As for the link, nope, that one is a different swap, includes participants from different threads..always fun, but I'm looking forward to this one.
Names will be pulled in a few days Susan, are you confirming participation in this one..must check with Bev as well,
Thunder, if you are up and running computer wise want you to know I changed panel 10.. Ended up doing different Christmas balls in a primitive way..like it better, so now I've completed entirely one group of 12 for my class..sure hoping it is this weekend as my weekends are starting to be at a premium. Once one is put together I'll plug along at the other 2
How did your day young lady?? Did Paul's football team win? I imagine Judy and Steve along with Jacob watched as well..this isn't the big/big game is it?
No no, big big game is in February. Season really is just starting. Buffalo lost to the Jets.
I am bored out of my mind. Tired of reading and not much else I can get into. Attempted for three minutes...to go on the porch...was too dang cold! Did my exercises and watched a move....will watch the Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Betty White tonight on ABC family I think it is.
We had an easy dinner tonight, cheeseburgers on the grill. Just the two of us home.
Debbie
Debbie, that was an excellent movie..must check what time it starts and if I can get it..you'll so enjoy. I imagine it's hard for you trying to fill your day..you never stopped, always on the run, big switch for sure. Do you knit or crochet? Lots of wool I could share.
That reminds me, heard commercial on a woman psychic, weekly show starting tonight, well, in the commercial she is speaking to a lady, says..." your grandmother, she did crochet or knit?". Gee whizz, don't have to be psychic to guess a grandmother may do either..was shakingmyhead..
Okay - I'll join the swap you're talking about, Betty - I have ideas on what to send, too!!
Give me a link for it, or is it this thread? I'm so confused.......
It's on this thread only Susan.. I've names on first post to help Dianne..no need to go searching..won't be long Dianne will let us know what names Santa Warren has chosen for us..
What a storm we have going in, torrential rain, high winds, thunder/lightning..lordy I'd we had a tad of snow we would have a bit of everything..Sailor is just going crazy.
Sharon just called to tell me mom was at the Hospice center where Sharon donates her weekends..the lady mom came to see is a friend from her seniors group, she is in final stages at hospice, her daughter went to pickup her dad to take him see his wife, only to find he passed on, heart attack. Mom's friend said he decided to go on first to make sure everything was just right for her..poor family!
Better go check on sump pump
ooooh the poor family - what a shock!!
Thank you, Betty - I am now confirmed (as What, I don't know - anyone?!?!?! LOL)
Lol...next step is you will receive a name..then the fun begins as to what to send..as simple as that Susan
Blame me for the confusion about our swap here on the thread. DH has read some of the posts to me and I have DMailed Betty and she has answered. Again DH has to read everything to me at the moment. I am in the middle of one of my Pit Tumour headaches and my sight is greatly affected.
Ok, here are OUR THREAD (BETTY'S BLOG) CHRISTMAS SWAP INFO. As a word of warning you might have to do some interpretive reading as I cannot see the monitor well enough to use spell check. I am an excellent speller but a not so good Typist. Please bear with me or ask if you can't decipher something.Alright the first thing about OUR SWAP is that there are NO RULES. Yep, ya read it right!! I feel I will be getting a gift for a friend so cost does not enter into the equation but please keep in mind it is NOT a competition either. Thanks to Barb who gave me excellent wording for this SWAP is just good friends remembering each other at the holidays.
Please confirm here on the thread by midnight Oct 18 if you are participating. Betty you are going to post the list at the beginning of the next thread right? Once you have a name and her mailing address which I will Dmail to you after Warren makes the draw on Wednesday. Warren will not allow his pic to be taken and unfortunately this year he does not even have the roly poly build of Santa. So you will just have to envision him sitting by the wood stove with his toy sack pulling out the names one at a time.
If you need some info about the person whose name you received please contact either Betty or I (OK Betty?)by Dmail or Email.
and we will seek out the info. Things like favourite colour, interests, any allergies to scent , food or material comes to mind.
If your parcel is mailed according to the departure date from either Can to US or vice versa we should all be happy campers having received our gift before Christmas. SOmw of you might want to wait until Christmasa, some of you might want to rip that parcel open right away - go to it - it is yours to enjoy. Once you have opened it please if you want to take some pics and show us what you received. Whomever gets my name be prewarned I do not have a camera but you are more than welcome to take pics of your gift and post the pics when I say I have opened mine. Whew! Is that confusing???
Some of you are very talented and can make your presents,Bake your presents and so on but some of us have no crafty bones in our bodies but I am sure we will be able to get a super gift for our Exchange partner.
Lights are starting to flicker, have been without hydro and interbet for 24 hours. The winds are still wicked. MAking my getaway a quick one.
~~~~~~ to all! I sure hope everyone is happy with the non rules of the Swap.
Dianne
((((((Dianne))))))Thank you hon, for explaining so well to an explanation-challenged person - I have to have things posted clearly, or I WILL get confused LOL
Mary
