Betty, those are my two favorite shows......Lots of nice, um...scenery!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

That along with Hawaii Five "0" much yummy...find this year above most there are so many great shows..like the Giften Man, Prime Suspect etc.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ok Betty

This year I will be going to the Blue Christmas service at our church - helps people through some of their "hurts/memories" at Christmastime. I know I lost my dad 29 years ago, but it was Christmastime and I find it difficult to "get into the season" because 2 weeks before and 2 weeks afterr are difficult to get through. He passed on Dec 12th 1982 and Christmas hasn't been easy ever since. I was told by someone that Blue Christmas was for more recent passings, and I should have gotten over it by now. But does anyone Truly "get over it" when they loved someone? He was the "at home Dad" for me. I was only in my 20's when he passed and it was difficult. He was 80yo.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, I don't think you ever get over it, you learn to live with it!! Think what has made it easier is we make a conscious decision to remember and include them in our festivities..one of the ways is each year we gather around the tree and add a specialty christmas ball!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

This year I will work towards bringing Christmas back into my life. Our Blue Christmas is Dec 7th, and I will "vent/dump" on that night to our pastor. Apparently only 3 people attend anymore and I will not be put off! I don't have to be old, nor have the grief recent in order to have it valid.

It took until the few days before Christmas last year to pull myself out of the doldroms and that's not fair to anyone else!! so There!! lol

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

You kids sure are chatty, lol.
Thanks for your kind works. I continue to be impressed with my sisters neighbors. I've always known NH was a wonderful place to live, I grew up there, but it's too cold & snowy. South east MA is noticeably milder.
101, you are fortunate to have good friends providing a ride to see your dad and the subsequent memorial. I was lucky, in a way, that my sister was moved to a Boston hospital where I could visit often. We talked too.
About going home. I drove by our old house which was sold 10 years ago when mom died. Our family was the first and only owners for 50 years. The buyers mentioned major changes at that time which concerned me. Well, they did a beautiful job. The little 6 room Cape is a cream puff anyone would be proud of. I couldn't be happier with it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How true, think that's why I do wayyyyy overboard in decorating, celebrating, gifts... almost like trying to bring normality..

We must be having an off day Susan to be reflecting so on Christmas...

Should go make a plate of turkey/turnip and stuffing..kept a pieceof pie for coffee..one good thing about mega leftovers, no cooking for a bit!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Andy, the house sounds so inviting, glad you were not disappointed with the upgrades..just love old homes!! Gives you a toasty feeling inside knowing how loved your sister was. Did you get the car?
How far from Boston are you..when hubby was alive and we were in our 30,s we'd pack up almost every long weekend and visit friends in Wooster (?). Think the last time I was in Boston they opened a new aquarium, antique now!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Betty, the Boston Aquarium is world renowned working with the Woods Hole oceanographic institute on Cape Cod. A recent aquisition is on Long Warf with direct salt water bays for injured mamals, dolphins, small whales, etc. Marvelous.
Our family is not sentimental about material things, kinda sad. I care but the sisters could care less about the old house. I hardly recognized it. New landscaping, a new dormer on the sloping roof over the living room, a fresh picket fence. New siding & windows. The silver maples dad planted and later hated are majestic now shading the lawn in front of the new 2 car garage on the spare lot.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Andy, yes, one of the first times I visited we went to the aquarium it had just opened , 1969, Greg, born New years Day of that year stayed with my grandmother, Jeff, was carrying him in my tummy..we did Cape Cod, then to boat tour toNantucket island, remember thinking, was it the boat ride that was making me ill or my being with child..breathtaking country!

Would be nice to do a tour of the aquarium now that it's grown so.

Glad you still have an interest in the homestead!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I guess I just have to get it out of my system and deal with it - I usually ignore it until I get all wound up!
Anyway - yes, I guess I'm having an "off" day lol

I got some compliments on my "new" jewellry that you made for me - Thanks so much again!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

The gifted man is light watching

I've downloaded Global tv and all those shows are listed..rarely I watch them in the evening it's mostly in the daytime, can watch at my leisure, sooo Susan you should be able to get the Gifted Man!

Another new show I enjoy watching is Unforgetable!!

I'm thinking I watch too much tv. Lol

Good morning to all.
Bought some apples and will make some applesauce today. Let it chill then make applesauce bread.
Betty sounds like we watch the same shows. Some are on to late so we record to DVR and I can watch whenever.
Looks like rain again today.
Coffee is on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning Laura, will have my coffee but will wait for the applesauce bread, never tasted it before..sounds yummy!

Dark outside, been raining since early evening, a real fall day..barely a leaf on all those trees, all making a pretty blanket on the ground.

Took a few painkillers for my arm last night so this morning with up and down night I could just get comfy in my nightie and stay in bed. Think I'll be able to stay home tomorrow so hope this lazy feeling is with me when the alarm goes off.

I've just enough time to finish the angel panel so I can get neck beads sewn on and maybe figure out her hair today..would put me right on target!

Kettle boiling, furries want out
Time to start my day

mulege, Mexico

Betty, I got a thing that can be heated in the microwave and then used on the shoulder (or whereever) to aleviate pain. It works pretty well. I heat it before I got to bed and am able to lie on it in a way that it's on the part of my shoulder that is most sore. I got it at Walmart. I think most drug stores have something similar. It helps me to get to sleep.

We did more chipping and chipping yesterday. I got about four barrerls full of mulch. I'm less sore this morning so maybe I'm getting some muscle tone back.

It's almost time to put away the fans and get out the space heaters. Mornings are chilly enough to require a bathrobe but the days still warm up to about 80.

Deb, be very careful, please. My sense of balance is sometimes kind of off and I have to be very careful with all the hillsides around me (on three sides). The area where we are working now is blessedly flat. Tony can pay more attention to his work when he doesn't have to worry about catching me.

It is nice to be able to help with the work, even for a couple of hours. It's also nice that Tony doesn't mind when I can't help. He works fine alone and we work well together. It's all good.

Time to get moving.

hugs, katie

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good morning everyone!!

Those are good shows!

Andy I love the houses and cottages up there in the NE states, it's so pretty but the winters are soooo cold! I know what it's like to leave a place that has been in the family for so long. My grandparents on my moms side bought the house that I ended up inheriting in 1963 and I moved into it in 1997 and I sold it in 2007, it was hard to do but I had to live my life and not worry about it.

Well I'm busy busy already so I'm going to go!

Have a great day everyone!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Can't wait to see these newest panels Betty. I can "kinda" picture them in my mind but not clearly.
Been busy with a mystery quilt through my LQS and getting the placemats made for Meals on Wheels. It keeps me out of trouble....
Finished four mug mats to match the table runner I was in a swap with - with Gourdbeader. She made me these crows. They are made out of fiber and I just love them...

They are too adorable Barb!!!

I should be doing more on the quilts but instead sewing last 4 rows on mom's afghan..guess it feels like it's taking forever which it is because I'm NOT liking doing it.

Just love those crows Barb, wouldn't they look nice at my house? Have them fly over, I'll leave the door open

Broke down and called for a Doctor's appointment and got in tomorrow at 10:30am..don't know what I've done for the nurse, usually it's weeks before I can get in and one call and I'm in tomorrow, guess my telling her I can barely lift my arm and it looks almost like a growth below elbow and paining like crazy got me in..should have cried, might have
gotten an afternoon appointment..lol

Crissy/Andy, don't think people stay in same area for a lifetime like they used to..we are more apt not to feel badly about relocating.

Katie, I have a microwave bag and neck wrap around, think it has grain in it..helps but not enough. You sure have been blessed with Tony..did your neighbors arrive yet?

DRATS/DRATS more DRATS...I've just been msn'ing with Sharon, she was talking to my mom earlier, she (mom) has totally lost it..to me its, can't even say what I think it is..

here is what Sharon posted...

ohhh she's going to the dr. around 3 I think she said... just whining about the dog.. ticked me off... told Jim to eat in the bathroom so the dog wouldn't see him eat and beg for food he shouldn't have... I told her to take the dog upstairs or living room and let Jim eat his meal in the kitchen. OMG

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, sure hope they can find your arm problem! Maybe have them look at your foot too if it is still sore?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Arm is hurting so much I forgot about my foot lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

You will let us know what's going on right???? It's not like you to complain so when you do, I listen. Hope the doctor does too!!!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, definately have that checked with doctor.....START A LIST and cover the issues while you are there.

Foot....arm.....hows the forehead & headaches?

Victoria Harbour, ON

After all you guys are going through, I start thinking I'm just a complainer but will check foot, headaches are fine since high blood pressure scare..head healed ok, hardly see the redness, just the arm and if it were not for the lump type thickness and my thinking about Ann's Mike I'd not even go but it's been just over 2 weeks, keeping me up so heck why not have it checked right?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Better safe than sorry!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to say Barb and LindaKay, ordering a pattern for 5" charms..it's to do an advent calendar..should be nice way of using all those I just received....20 minutes left to my day AND one more row on mom's blanket..oh happy days

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

You'll have that blanket finished in no time. Then maybe she will leave you be for a while. There are some really sweet patterns to use the charms with now. When I made your tote there weren't so many. But I loved that pattern. You'll have to show us. Are you ready for your class with the Christmas rows?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - sooooooo glad you're going to the Dr and got such an early app't! Foot, arm, anything else you need to see Dr about!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

No Barb am not ready but I'm working from home tomorrow except for time taken for the doctors office! Am hoping to catch up..Still didn't do the row with pinwheel, almost ready to change that panel. Just love my bag, think I've used it every day since you gave it to me. The ones I made last year were similar but I like the idea of using charms!

Barb, do you think my mom will ever leave me alone!! Lol

Oops be back in a sec..Kyle just dropped in

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Brandon is all excited. He just recieved his certificate for passing Driver's Ed. He is on a cloud. Norm takes him tomorrow morning to the Registry of Motor Vehicles. He has to take the written test. If he passes and they are not busy he will take the driving test as well. If not he must make an appointment to go for it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, sounds like your Mom is. Ot happy unless she is bothering you. Some Mothers are like that!
Hope you get quick solutions to your arm and foot tomorrow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh, how exciting for Brandon, bit scary for us grandmothers though, quite a worry! Let's hope he can do his test..are you on progressive licensing, think we spoke about that before, but cannot remember. Kyle doesnt turn 16 until dec14th..am sure he will be waiting at the doors.

Yikes, skunk must have sprayed, can you ever smell it inside..kitties are out but Sailor is in!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I Got A Job!!
It's sorta a working interview in that it's a "temp to perm". The company is Alstom Grid, Canada and is a bit of a drive, but it's my NE to their SE end of the city. They wanted me to start tomorrow, but I have other committments but they agreed to wait for Monday start. They also agreed to pay me $2/hr more than they first offered, and that is a starting wage. Once they have decided on whether to hire me or not, then I would get a higher wage (hopefully in keeping with my experience and previous wage!)

anyway, I'm happy! Now, to pray for a good job for BOB!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Living so close to the store, you must get a LOT of skunks and other critters. Soon they will all be sleeping for the winter. One good thing - it clears the sinuses!!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

OMG Susan, that's wonderful. I knew all these prayers would work. But as we know He works in His own time. I'm thrilled for you...
