§Sweet Interruptions 228§

Duuuh.. I'm so forgetful Susan!! Well then, Happy Turkey Day!! You'll be cooking turkey won't you? Did you get an anniversary cake?
8 blocks you'll have to make Susan, excluding yours.
I'm still looking for patterns!

Aww Marion, you're a generous soul.
Just don't get your mind lost in the fabrics!! That happens to me a lot.

I forgot to share this special news with you all.
As you know, Kel's days off are not truly rest days for him. So, he can't do much for me around the house, nor in the garden.
When I said the grass need cutting, I was serious. We have cleared 3 acres for my garden, but there's another 5 acres to be 'bush hogged'.
The grass were waist high and it's impossible for me to navigate my way moreover control the 'weeds'. Kel with his giant legs never had any problem, but not me with my walking cane.
My church sister visited me last week, and the church yesterday offered to send a crew over to clean up the garden for me.
I was flabbergasted, but turned the help down, as Kel had found time to mow the grass.
It was truly appreciated by moi. So.. I'm not moving to another church as I thought I would. The people there are truly God's people.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe, Jaye, sounds like your Church family is truly generous! Glad to hear Kel got it done for you!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((((Jaye))))))))))))) how truly wonderful of your church family to offer!! Frankly, I would have found something else for Kel to do (I'm sure you have loads of stuff! like shopping, cleaning.....) and let your church crew do the yard!!
okay Jaye - I'll make 9 blocks!! I'll join them with the ones I got in 2008 (?), and the BOMs I made in fall 2009 (?). I forget now, but I have a lot of blocks - now to make 'em into a quilt!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan, I myself have enough blocks to make at least 2 full size quilts!
I'm sure LK got a bunch too!

Unfortunately Susan, it won't be to our advantage. If MIL were to see the church crew cleaning my garden... she'd be making sure that she'd get rid of her hired yard help, and force Kel to take care of hers.

What sort of a MIL checks on her son at 6.30 in the morning, to make sure he comes home straight from work, and not roaming the streets??? Not because she's afraid for me, but to make sure he'll be on call for his dad.
Hence.. Kel's time is not ours, but hers.

Since it's quiet here, let me show how mad she is.
Once she called Kel at 10.30 in the evening, just to ask him why her neighbors are having parties. Never mind that he just got through giving his dad a bath 2 hours ago!!
In her warped mind, they shouldn't be doing that cause they're on foodstamps!!!

Another evening, there was a car that broke down near the shop, and the man pulled the car up next to the store's side fence.
She demanded that Kel run down to the shop and force the man to move or she'd call the cops, saying it's HER property.
Impatient with Kel's response, MIL called the cops.. cops told her there's nothing they can do about it as the fence is next to a county road and we've given so many feet to the county. Plus, it wasn't considered an abandoned vehicle.
She then called a towing company.
The tow operator brought the folks, and their vehicle right up to their doorsteps. Being that it's her that called the company, she was charged and forced to pay for the transfer. Which she at first refused until mention of litigations were brought up!!

Guess what...turned out to be the man and his old mother were regular customers
We lost a lot of customers due to her idiocy.

You can't reason with a fool!

Slowly getting stuffs off my chest.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye that is wonderful!! I would have given Kel something else to do also!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY TO OUR FELLOW CANADIANS!!

HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY TO OUR FELLOW AMERICANS!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SUSAN!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye let it out, God gave us mouths for a reason. That's insane!!! Funny she had to pay for the towing bill!

happy thanksgiving
i didn't say her hygeine got cleaned up LOL only the apt !
not much time latelty
got to run again
bbl

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, vent we certainly do when we need to.

Isn't it wonderful when you get offers like you got from your church!! There are some really great people in this world but sometimes it is hard to see it for the ones that keep trying to make life difficult.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy, that was sweet justice!! Kel tried to reason with her, plus the cops told her no crime was committed unless it's parked for a day.

Thank you for reading. Sometimes, I allow her to take center stage.. I'm just human. Prayers are good, but I find now, letting it out helps!!

Yes Marion, it's a small church, a tad bigger than Susan's, but the helping hands are plentiful.
We were thinking of finding a Methodist church, right now, we're staying where we're loved.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yes Jaye prayers are good but you can't keep stupid stuff like that bottled up, it creates stress and will ruin your health and good looks!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I can't have that Crissy!!! No way!! I'll rather lose some brain cells than my looks!! ROFL!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That's what I'm saying!! You know it's better to be all beauty and no brains than all brains and no beauty!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LOL you 2 are FUNNY! Good thing I have both brains AND beauty........ oh wait - you're right - just brains lol

Yes Jaye - vent away, I sure do!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning sistahs!
Had some beauty sleep, but it seems it's working for the brains!!

Coffee is ready, how about some beignets, no powdered sugar, you can dip them in syrup?
Oh I miss Cafe Du Monde. Waking up early in New Orleans and first thing your brains are screaming for - chicory coffee and those puffy beignets with a generous coating of powdered sugar. And then you sit back and watch the human traffic passes by.

Sue, I hope all is well with you. You're always busy, and I feel so guilty cause compared to you, I do nothing..

Cookie, if you're lurking... how's your dad doing?

Susan, your company must have had a good time. Share with us some pics please, if you've taken any.

It's raining again today, so staying indoors. Might wake up Kel and ask him to get a Wendy's burger for me. Got a craving for junk food!!!

Have a wonderful day sistahs!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

g'morning - having my first coffee...... need it!
I'm at Jackie's office so won't be posting until tonight, but I did take some pictures. Didn't get one of the full table - wait, yes I did - with everyone seated around it. Also got pictures of Nami playing the piano.
I'll post them tonight when I get home.
Have a terrific day!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Jaye, I so agree about Cafe Du Monde----every time Ross had a business trip to took him to New Orleans I would insist on going! Didn't have to insist very hard! LOL
Beignets--oh be still my heart!!!

Off the place that we go to refill our cupboards. Maybe stating it like that it won't sound so bad as off to the grocery store.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh boy I'm tired, and I just proved/found out something for myself......
Did you know that if you just lurk and don't type anything, but press "send" instead of "Home" nothing comes up, not even a blank posting? lol I think I'd better finish my first cup of coffee.........

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Got your tip noted, Susan!! Will not try to send blank pages!
Have a good day helping Jackie. I'll wait patiently for your pics. Imagine if we are all leaving closer, you might have to have another table set outside!

Marion, New Orleans should be on everyone's bucket list. I bet you don't miss the French Market either when you go there. Always great deals to be found.

Yah, you're right. Refilling our pantry is the right term. When I think of grocery shopping, looking to try new things will be on my mind too. Nowadays that's a luxury, so with limited budget, one can only 'refill'. I shop at Dollar General to refill the kids' pantry!

Got my wish, a half pound Wendy's cheeseburger with all the trimmings but no mustard nor ketchup. Ate half of it, Kel finished the rest.
Lola had a child's burger and she gobbled it up as though it's Prime Rib!!!

Still got a roast cooking in the oven.. that's for Kel's work 'lunch' and my supper. Rain continues...

Susan, I love your place setting. What's the pattern's name. Love your charger-plates!
Looks like you are ready for more than 9! Sorry sistahs, if it's at my place, some of you would be drinking out of mason jars!!
I can't believe you still have that scarecrow...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Why not, Jaye? I love it, and don't have many Thanksgiving decorations altho the scarecrow has motivated me lol

More friends at the table. We could have had more, cuz the "more the merrier"!

The dishes are J&G Meakin "Sunshine" and I suspect they're from the 1940's. I got them from a Salvation Army auction - my bid won: $65 for a set for 11!! Covered bowls, single uncovered bowl, only 5 teacups, but more saucers, don't have a platter, but bread & butter and salad plates, etc. Also have fruit nappies! (tiny bowls big enough for fruit for dessert).

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - Bob just got the chargers from a Dollar Store for $1.25 each!!

You can see, just behind Margaret, is my tiny kitchen - I'm surprised I was able to carve the turkey in that small space! Wish I had a larger kitchen.......
The ladies are looking down at my cat, Baby, who's being "cute" and wanting to get petted lol

Here's Doug, and Nami - he was so thrilled she returned early from visiting her folks in Japan, in time to come to Thanksgiving Dinner at our place.
She's such an accomplished pianist - her sight reading skills are fabulous!

and that's All She Wrote (or posted, of pictures lol)

Looks like everyone had a wonderful time Susan. Good for you!!! The table looked fantastic!! And I'm sure the food was too.......

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I did an upside down turkey in the Convection oven! I've never used my conventional/convection oven to roast a turkey before! It sure was moist! Also, I did it breast down so the juices would flow to the breast which is always the driest part. Bob said this one Was Not Dry so I guess that is a successful turkey! I had to turn it over 3/4 hr before it was finished to brown the other side, cuz the underside was pretty pale!

Susan she looks like Lisa Ling !
took Jess to grocery... then she got cigerrettes .... uhg. i walked away.
got me some grocery too
got two new cook books
slow cooker recipes for the diabetic
and The Pioneer Womans Cook book
both are great.
can't wait to try them out.
tomorrow is cider day
good night

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan, Nami's beautiful! Looks like her character is just as beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing with us!!!!
I bet there were so much laughter too with the dinner.

Sue, I'm one that goes to bed with either a cookbook or a quilting book!! Am curious now about that diabetic cookbook.
I completely could relate to your unenthusiastic reaction to your daughter's ciggies. Kel and I were appalled at the $42 price on a carton!! Who could afford that?

Sleepy.. blah weather... got some books boxed.. Kel won't be happy!!

Good night sweet sistahs, sleep well, again thank you Susan for sharing your celebration with us.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, love your table and dishes! Very pretty, and love the price you got them for! Nice job! Glad your turkey turned out for you! Never heard of cooking upside down!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan nice pics! Looks like you all had a really good time!! I've never heard of cooking one upside down and I've never tried a convection oven with anything before, I don't understand 'convection.' LOL

Sue Yay for cookbooks, Boo to cigarettes!! Have a good cider day tomorrow!

Night night ladies!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Conventional oven has a heat element on top and bottom.
Convection oven heats the air and blows it all around so it heats more evenly and in less time.

Nami sure is a beautiful lady! Who's Lisa Ling?

Made an error on price for Chargers - they were $3.89 each and he got them from Home Outfitters, not the Dollar Store..... siiiiiiigh my remembry ain't a-working so well no more!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the coffee LindaKay. Busy here with placemats. Doing them for Meals on Wheels. Supposed to rain for the rest of the week so I should be able to make some headway with them...
~~~Waving hello to all..
(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)
Morning, we are not suppose to be getting rain but guess what it is doing now?
