Best/worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends!
Wow! I am first! Waving!!!!!
Waving right back..how did your day go?
It was rather busy.
Tonight we had dinner out with SIL, MIL, FIL, another BIL &SIL....and four kids. Very nice meal, chicken parm....at our favorite restaurant. We do not get to go very often. The owner, Lorenzo....is 91...and still the head chef!! He and his wife Luciana came out to visit....we have known them since we were in high school. He gave a complimentary tray of cream puffs...stuffed with vanilla ice cream, and drizzled with chocloate sauce. OMG! SOOOOO Good!
We now have the rain and storm you sent over.....not bad, but looks like it is working its way up.
yummmmmmmmmmmy sounding dessert, Debbie!!
It was really good. Thank heavens the nieces (12 & 14) and nephews (8 & 12) opted for the "peppermint candies" and not the cream puffs! lol
The chicken parm was just so good, fresh pounded chicken, breaded with fresh cheese and very good sauce. I couldnt' eat the spaghetti side dish...just ate the chicken.
Hugs all ! We are here! Tropical storm Lee rain
All the way here.... But got in around 10p and no rain
But windy so much the pool even has waves!
So glad Debbie has Whirligig! Funny Barb ...the Help is

Off and running......
Debbie
I know you are all waiting to see some pictures. Well, they are finally all in the computer. Don't know if we had a power surge or what but I had a hard time with entering new pictures this time. Anyway - the problem is solved so the journey can begin....
We left Hillsborough, NH early on Sat. Aug 20th and headed for Vermont.... We stopped and had breakfast along the way and entered Vermont about 8 am.
We stopped again at Hogback Mountain to get panaramic pictures. On a clear day you can see as far as Boston Mass. Of course it was all foggy as it was too early in the day for the sun to burn it off. But it was leg stretching time and had decided to do so at least every 2 to 2/5 hours. We then proceeded across Vermont and came to Bennington VT near the New York border. Bennington was the site of a meaningful Revolutionary balttle. It is a beautiful New England town with gorgeous old homes. It has a wonderful park dedicated to the founders and the military of the revolution. At the Bennington Museum is the Grandma Moses School. It is said she actually taught here for a while...

Ohhh my bags are packed and ready to travel along with you and Norm..just so excited!!
Debbie, hope there is not much damage ..yikes if water gets into the drywall it all has to be replaced due to mold..don't you be working hard, get those hardy boys to do the slugging, you supervise.
Yes, will go searching all the threads I know Janice is on in hopes of hearing something!
From Bennington we drove into New York and headed for Mittsy's. We did stop each two hours and it made a big difference in our traveling. We have been known to go for three to four hours and that's too long. We arrived at Mittsy's about 1 pm. Of course, by this time we were all hungry, so off for lunch we went first. Mittsy and her husband took us to a wonderful restaurant on the river that flows into Lake Oneida. It was so nice to sit outside and watch the boats go by as we enjoyed a wonderful meal together. The company was delightful. And of course, since we had ridden there in their car, my camera was back at Mittsy's house so no pictures here. Then we went back to Mittsy's home which is directly on the Lake. It was soooo peaceful sit there and just chat. She has a lovely home and more container gardening on her deck than I had seen before. Just wonderful.
A month or two before the trip, I had made Mittsy's Mom a couple of purple placemats to enjoy when she has her tea. Well, my friends, she makes beautiful crocheted rag rugs and gifted me with two of them.....She is in her eighties and still keeps herself nice and busy with them. I now have one for everyday and one for Christmas time.... Here's the one for now....
OOpps forgot the pciture....

We sat and chatted and finally had to say goodbye. Sometimes that is sooo hard to do. Mittsy has a heart the size of Texas and the work she does with her quilting ladies in Florida is so to be commended. I'm proud to call her my friend. Also notice the goodie box from the restaurant!!!
That was the rest of the huge salad I had and it tasted just as good later!!!

From Mittsy's home in Cicero, NY, we headed north toward Canada. We stayed Sat. nite in Watertown NY. We ordered a pizza and some garlic bread from room service rather than eat out again. Actually we were still quite sated from lunch!!! We watched the weather for Sunday with trepidation. We had plans to meet up with Thea and her husband, Bernie, in the morning after we crossed into Canada and we had some special plans for the day. What did we hear??? Occasional rain!!! But bright and early we drove the 25 miles up to Canada and were greeted with smiles at customs... "How long are you staying?" she asked and we replied about a week. "That's delightful" she said. You know the Canadain dollar is just about equal with the American one and at times even worth more!!!!!! She was really very nice.
We then proceeded to the parking lot of the Sky Deck attraction which was about 200 yards past customs. It was empty and the it was raining lightly.
We were a bit early so went next door to the Canadian visitor's center. Two of the most delightful young ladies were there. When we told them where we were headed (Victoria Harbor to Betty's) they went all around the room gathering up all kinds of pamphlets for us to look at. We were given a map of Ontario province and a cute little badg to carry it all in. They were so sweet.
Back we went to the Sky Deck lot. It had stopped raining. Sat for about ten minutes and at 9AM on the dot--here come Thea and Bernie... It was like a long lost reunion. Thea and I have corresponded a bit back and forth swapping patterns etc for over a year now and it was such a joy to finally meet her. We had made plans to take a boat ride around the 1000 Islands in the St Lawrence River located near there. It wasn't to leave until 11 AM and was only a 10 minute drive to get there so I asked if there were some place we could sit and chat for a while. So we followed them to TIM HORTONS!!!!! Yes, my friends, Norm and I were baptized!!!!
I need to get a few things done around here but I'll continue later. Have a great day all...
I'll be waiting for the continuing saga...
Thanks for the story, and pictures Barb! I'll be waiting for.. The rest of the story too!
Betty, how are you feeling today?
I'm doing fine LindaKay, barometer must be down as my head Is no longer pounding!
Spent all morning going through fabric, odds and ends, cleaning craft cupboard so when I get back to finishing the Christmas quilts I was doing I'll know what I have and where they are..how on earth do things get so messed up? That's a question that Barb can answer . She has seen me in action, every table and every corner filled within minutes...lol
What have you planned for the weekend?
While cleaning I watched "green fried tomatoes". Reminds me of when I went where the filled it and the whistle stop cafe still in operation and had some of their fried green tomatoes!
Betty, I watched "Fried Green Tomatoes" too. I really enjoyed it. It is the first movie I have watched all the way through for many yrs. It is 101 here today but after today it is to get in the low 70s and low 80s. Still no rain. Maybe tonight. None since June. It is windy. Maybe it will blow some clouds our way. Hi all. HUGS BEV
No name but pretty
was going to watch Fried Green Tomatoes, but then I'm on a cooking/baking/canning spree, so decided to watch cooking shows instead, for inspiration lol
I baked 2 more Christmas cakes, canned some nectarines, and then cooked some homemade soup (so, I cheated - it was a homemade mix I was gifted, by a friend who makes the dry mix - just add water and boil/simmer lol)
Next, I'm going to can some plums! I have 64 good sized ones, and thinking of making jam as well as stewing some and same friend suggested I make plum pie....... never heard of it, but will look it up.
I'm going to make a couple of jars of sweet red bell pepper pickes, today, too.
Not doing much here. Todd made a wonderful Brisket for the week-end. It is finally done, and I made potato salad to go with!
Susan, you are really busy with your baking and canning! it all sounds good!
Hey Bev, how you doing? Is the wrist feeling better?
Wow Bev, unbelievable that you could go so long without rain..best I stop complaining about what little rain we are getting. We must have watched the same channel..was an enjoyable movie...I must have seen it at least 5 times and yet I enjoy watching it.
Bev,are you now able to work in the gardens?
Kayle has been here for the last hour, he just got back from a trip on the spider so I got all the highlights. Had to show me the high tech lawnmower that he cut his uncle" s grass, 6' cut and takes 5 hrs. Said it's what I should buy...lots of luck...oooh sun just came out..looked like rain but didn't .
Keep offering to order pizza for us but he says his dad will call him shortly for supper.
Sure hope Mary isn't getting bad weather and that Laura made it without mishap
Fall IS comin' y'know.......... early am it's been as low as 37F / 3c......... siiiiiiiiiigh
So, I guess I'm "nesting" LOL And it's cheaper to can food than to buy canned food in the winter!!
Kyle just left..still trying to muster up enough energy to go grocery shopping..might have to wait until morning.
Susan wish I had your nesting urge..doing nothing here
Received an d-mail from Janice, am hoping she doesn't mind my sharing
Janice writes:
Surgery went well yesterday. They only had to take out the tumor and one lymph node. No cancer was found in the nodes. I am home and having only a small amount of pain. My friend Jan from Lansing is down and taking good care of me. Pepper is giving me good doggie kisses and staying close.
Obviously all of your prayers and good wishes helped so keep them up when I go into Radiation Therapy. They wont start that until the breast heals some but it will be a 5 day a week for 6 weeks things so I will be busy.
Love
Janice
D-mailed her and said we shall continue to pray that radiation isn't hard on her and that she'll see great results.
Am relieved we've had an update and was touched she was well enough to update us herself..God bless her

Bless Janice - Lord, thank you for taking care of her - no cancer in the nodes!!! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Prayers for her radiation to go/stay well! Lots of love and prayers for her!!!!!!!!!
Is wonderful news, imagine it would not have been if the nodes were not clear..great news indeed.
Boy they sure don't keep you in the hospital for long these days..thank goodness she has Jan with her!
Aren't friends wonderful
Oh Janice I'm so thrilled for you. Just knowing there was nothing in the nodes is so wonderful. The 6 weeks of radiation will really fly by. Just listen to what they say and don't be afraid to ask questions and make sure they give you the cream to put on so your skin doesn't dry out. It helped Norm a great deal... I'm smiling here and will keep you close in my prayers.
I'm so laughing, and yes you both certainly are promoting international goodwill..I've half a mind to take the drive to midland just to share a cup with you!
It's an inside day today, at least for this morning! Rain, lightning and thunder..poor Sailor is having quite the time of it.
I could be working on my quilts but realized I have wonder under or similar fabric.. hmm my thoughts is a quick trip to Walmart to see if they have similar product, pick up groceries and a cup of coffee/apple fritter from Timmies and be back home by 9am.
Sounds like a plan!!
Hope it's a sunshine day in your neck of the woods.
It is overcast and the humidity is so thick you can slice it with a knife. My brother and his wife are coming up this morning so I'm putting off writing until after they leave. She can be a bit distracting when she wants to be....and I need to gather my thoughts as I write. Must also hide my goodies from Canada as she will ask for whatever strikes her fancy and expect to be given it. I have plans for all the things we did together. They are special to me and some will be given to the same kind of people!!!! Off to make sure the bath is spotless and that my meal can be served from the floor!!!! Heehee
Whooooo I'd like to share a cup too! I madae blueberry muffins .
Horrid T&L storm just moved through - wicked looking sky. Brtty, Deb and Thea hope you 3 are safe.
D
Norm and I were remarking this morning that we check over our weatherman's shoulder to see what is going on with all of you each time they show the weather here. We can see as far west as Toronto for just a few seconds before they focus on NH Since most of our weather comes from there, what you get one day, I get one to two days later but usually not as strong as the mountains have tamed the storms a bit. It's fun to say "well Betty and Dianne and Thea will have rain but it might miss Debbie and Mittsy!!!!"
Meant to ask how Ann is doing? Did you say her girls were coming for the weekend??
Morning everyone! Betty, thanks for the updates on Janice. So glad to hear it had not spread to the nodes! Sending lots of thoughts and prayers for her radiation treatments!
Barb - often Debbie and I get the same weather just a few hours after it has hit one of us. Wierd eh?
Dianne, we had it at 5:30 this morning...power went out short term. Now drizzle and humid.
BUT we are all fine.
Back from town, Walmart doesn't have much in the line of fabric and supplies but they had exactly what I wanted so I'm off to the races today..one of the 3 - 8th day of Christmas was minus one deer head so in order to get enough material I had to buy a fat quarter package for $12.00 imagine...oh well when you want to work on a project you have to have the materials..got my groceries done, got a yen for tomato macaroni (?) and cheese (can't even spell this a.m.) and have the hamburger cooking..Barb and Norm, going to play upstairs so I'm near the stove until it's cooked..and yes, making enough for 10 but I can freeze some or just it it all week long. LindaKay your meal sounds scrumptious..too bad we didn't live closer we could have a pot luck..
Although we are now getting but the rain Dianne it's still a dull gloomy day..hoping as well that it passes both you and Thea by.. Dianne guess you and Debbie get the same because you are so close (yet so far) because you live almost directly across the lake from each other...think everyone is having inclement weather today! Good day to look after ourselves and do something we enjoy.
Barb, I'm watching what I eat, cutting down somewhat at least on the sweets but this apple fritter this morning kept saying 'pick me/pick me..Norm wants you to eat it on his behalf' so how could I not do so..
