We have a little thing that hooks to the cable box that provides wi-fi upstairs for all the computers in the house...as they are laptops. Betty could have something like that. BUT if the power is out....not going to work unless another nearby.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit/chat with friends
Yeah, I don't know if she has something like that or not.
Lol Barb is typing a message at same time as I..so if hers comes up first, don't believe that I'm a slave driver but have kept them both busy...you should see Norm's floor cloth...gorgeous..
Now off to big chut..would have loved to take them by boat but inclement weather prevents doing so, nice drive will be nice..
Sun shines, then it clouds over but that's ok.
Have a friend Harvey who may come spend the weekend with me, got to tell
you if he shows up he'll have a hard job filling Norm's shoes as norm is up crack of dawn getting us Tim Horton's coffee!! What a man..will demand same of my next man!!!
Norm has been. Enjoying. Hmmm it starts with s and ends with x - e letter word..maybe that's why he's being so nice to me..Barb just watches us..rotfl. .. Omg double omg!!
I've had a wonderful visit with them, easy company to have and both are invited to drop in any time..think they want to move all of my friends closer their home.
Precious people...we'll Barb's still typing, have to get her to get up and at it...lol
I've loads of pictures but will wait till they leave tomorrow and sit and gab and tell you a bit about the visit..Haven't read last nights post but will do so this evening, in the meantime hope you are well and that the storms move away from you all...
Just incase, at the Martyrs Shrine I petitioned only good things for each and every one of you..the candle will burn for a week and I'm hoping miracles will come your way!

Noon message while Betty is being so nice as to let me have ten minutes to post . What a slave driver she is when it comes to crafts. I've been so busy, my fingers are worn to the bone!!!! RIGHT!!!! I have been having such a wonderful time. I have made Santa sleds and a Victorian Santa and Norm has painted a mat for our bath as well!!!!! What a wonderful visit we are having and I'm enjoying myself picking her brain for all the helpful hints and ideas that she can give me. This woman is a veritable storage of information to help you no matter what craft you may be interested in and she has such wonderful stories to go with each one. Her ladies were here on Tuesday and they were telling me stories of what she has accomplished here. An amazing and wonderful woman that I am so proud to call my friend. And what a wonderful group of friends she has as well. They were all so friendly and helpful and then we had a barbeque in the gardens and it was just great. I felt so "at home" here and Norm does too. We have gone for rides and done a bit sightseeing. Yesterday we played tourist at Saint Marie among the Hurons. It is a fort that goes back to the times the French first came to this area. And then we visited the Martyr's Shrine where there are three Saints buried. This is a beautiful area with so much fascinating history. Betty has a wonderful heritage and it is so nice to see her pride in her home, her town, her country. We went for a visit at Ann's home too. It is lovely.
Today we have done crafts in the morning and are off to the lockes this afternoon!!!
She is telling me it's time for lunch so we can go - but I'll beg her for posting time again soon!!!!
I'm going to start a thread of our trip when I get home.
So much has been going on with all of you, I don't know where to begin to respond. My prayers are with You all. Betty has been reading your posts to me as I type this. My heart goes out to you Thea and Dianne. And all of you in need.
Rest assured though, if something is wrong with us, we will post right away.
We are having the rest of our turkey now and this makes NOTHING burnt since we arrived!!!!!!!! Betty took cooking lessons I'm sure!!!
Will post when she lets me.......
Good afternoon all,
Judy that is just horrible what happened to your friend...my T&P are with you. I hope that she will receive counseling to deal with the horror that she had to endure. Big Hugs
Dianne, I am so sorry about your friend...I cannot even imagine how she just feel right now. Maybe you could write her a letter or call her…just so she knows you are there for her.
I hope you and Warren have today a better day…big hugs for you both and of course prayers.
Dev, so good to hear that your wrist is getting better!! I am sure you will look great with your new haircut…a new sexy you!! That will help lifting your spirit.
Chrissy that is just too weird about your DH’s papers disappearing …maybe he needed them for other jobs he had applied and forgot to put them back in the binder.
Debbie, great news that DH’s operation was successful…how long will he be of work?
OMG Betty LOL…I just read your post about Norm: “Norm has been. Enjoying. Hmmm it starts with s and ends with x - e letter word” LOL…are they Honeymooning??!!! LOL
Thank you Betty for lighting a candle for all of us at the Martyrs Shrine.
Can`t wait to read all about the visit and see the pictures!!! Have a wonderful day at the Locks.
Barb and Norm…what can I say…we miss you!!! Bernie asks every day about how you guys are doing and if you are enjoying Canada. I just wish we would all be living a lot closer to each other…what fun that would be…and Ohhhh the trouble we could get into…lol
Big hugs to everyone and have a great day
Love Thea
Thea, too long...way tooo long!
Well that sucks monkey balls (can I say that??)...wish there was a way you could get a break...meaning head for the canadian border Debbie!!!
Just checked how far Watertown NY is from you...ONLY 3 hours and 25 minutes!!! Can you get a ride there and I pick you up??lol
Maybe a nice trucker can give you a lift!!!!
Thea, if a nice trucker can give me a lift...we are NOT going to Canada. LOL
Awwww come on Debbie...lol...a nice Canadian Fall would do wonders for you!!!
In the south they have Hurricanes and tornados...you are better of staying up here!!!
You need a nice Canadian Trucker!!!
hmm my ex is a nice Canadian trucker, but he's married!! lol and lives in Winnipeg, to boot! He won't be on the road, after his heart surgery, until about January, so that doesn't help you out, Debbie. He travels thoughout Canada and US.
Thea I thought about that but they don't ask for your social security card until after your hired, they don't need it. It's just strange BUT doesn't matter, he went to the Social Security office this morning and they are mailing him a replacement and he got his Proof of Employment letter that is used in lieu of a Social Security Card if he needs to use it. He got a call from the job in CA today, he is going to fly out on Sept 6th, interview all day on Sept 7th, then fly back home on Sept 8th. IF he gets the job he will probably know the middle of Sept and will be gone from the end of Sept through the full month of October.
Barb, Norm, Betty I am so glad you all are having such a good time!!!! Great to hear!!
wow Crissy - quite the job interview where they have him go to another city for it!!
At least Dave has the paperwork he needs.... :-)
Barb....CHeck your D-mail please!
Love my new hairdo. If my face wouldn't ruin the pic I would show it off!!!!!!!
Roflmfbo!
Oh Bev, we would love to see your new hair cut please?
Just in,Cathy came with us fir a day visiting lock system, threw in a visit with Sharon at the cottage, dropped in for quick visit with Greg, then off to Henry's for fish fry!
Ahhh lets not forget Tim Hortons for our evening coffee lol
Tired, not used to all this action, will sleep like a babe tonight.
is that because you R a babe, Betty? lol :-)
And now I get 10 minutes too!!! Just fooling. We have had another wonderful day here in Canada. We were busy with crafts again this morning and this afternoon went for a wonderful ride and included Betty's dear friend Kathy in our travels. She is just as nice as Betty has told us and is so very sweet. She truly does enjoy helping out here at Betty's home especially being a comfort to Betty's dog Sailor when the weather is not pleasant. Best kind of friends to have in my book. We visited as Betty has said and then had a marvelous fresh fish dinner. Just great. And now we can enjoy our Tim Horton's knowing it has been another fantastic day.
Still sending my prayers for all in need and will look forward to tomorrow!!!
Barb
Barb, there is a Tim Hortons on route here....I can meet you there if you prefer.
Sounds like you better buy some of their coffee beans to take home?
I think I will invest in the company LK. There has never been a time of day or any one the shops that is not always busy. We most certainly will be taking some home. And the best news about Tim's is that they are coming to New England!!!!
Barb, you will pass several on the way here.....i f you take Rt. 104! LOL
Thanks for the heads up Deb!!!
I am just so laughing at Norm, he just had that 3 letter word and then a glass od milk, says he always enjoys milk after that 3 .letter word...
Guess I should tell you that Ann made a large tray of Sex in a Pan pudding cake which I'm sure you've tasted..Norm loves it..just finished the end of it..so we've been kidding the heck out of him..Barb has the
Recipe so am sure she'll be making it often!
They are just checking Irene and it says that it's heading to western New Hampshire and it's a bit distressing.
So hoping all od you are safe..Laura, do hope you post shortly to let us know you are ok!!
Bev, sure hope you post your a photo of new do..takes a bit of getting used to when you get a new do.,,,a lot easier for you to maintain!
Well, we're off to bed..gab in the morning
Oh Betty - you sure had us on pins and needles to figure out what you were talking about ! LOL.....
So awesome to hear you and Barb's fun day....
Deb.... LOL DH... they say Payback is H - E - Double Hockey Sticks......
Crissy - strange about the SSN and it makes me wonder if it were stolen? Guess thats where my mind is... i thought mine was in my purse that was stolen but found it when I went to get the new paperwork to get my new Drivers License....
Bev - Ask your hairdresser about Nioxin. I had NO Hair and asked my young gals at work and that is what they recommended. I am SUCH a skeptic about products.... I guess because I'm in Marketing. But I tried it....the shampoo, conditioner and spray....and after ONE try I could see a difference. Really. Using it for a year now....
(((HUGS))) Dianne... they say God only gives what you can handle.... you and your friend are both handling more than I ever could believe I could.... Have you been in touch with her? I know that was a difficult decision before.... If you think a card from a stranger might be helpful.... send me her address...Sometimes it's just nice to know that people care.....Even if it's from anonymous.....
I'll pop back in a bit...
Mary
Mary I thought that but it doesn't make sense. Why would someone break into the house, that is way out in the sticks, go through everything without messing one single piece of paper up, to find his ss card and expired passport.
BEV I do not believe that your face messes up your hair, come on girl, show us a pic, I bet it looks really good!
Occam's Razor - "simpler explanations are, other things being equal, generally better than more complex ones" - simply put means, if it's complex (someone came in and stole just those 2 pieces of ID - one of them expired), perhaps the simpler one (he maybe threw out the expired one, and the other with it by mistake) is more likely to be correct.
Still up, can't sleep. Guess my nervousness about our first meeting at 9:30 am with the doctor who will be in charge of DH's Palliative Care is getting to me.
What a change a night can be in the weather. Last night there was a T and L show that was absolutely breath taking and tonight it is cloud covered.
It must be the week of not being able to find important papers. For the life of me I cannot find our marriage certificate - not sure why we have to prove that we are married but we do. Making arrangements with Simple Alternatives for both of us - Warren does not want to be waked and definitely doesn't want a funeral. He has always joked that I will bring the urn with his ashes home and put it up on the shelf with our dogs' and cats' urns. We should have taken care of this years ago but have always put it off.
I emailed my friend whose son just passed rather than phone or drop over. Glad that I did as she really isn't up to having company but sure did want to chat with me. She is shaken to the core and understandingly so.Her DH is to start Chemo and Radiation again on Monday so she is stewing about that as well. I offered to drive her DH in on the days she doesn't feel up to it and I bet there will be a few.
Barb and Norm, I hope you enjoyed your time here in our beautiful province. Looking forward to seeing your photos when you get a chance to post them Barb.
Betty you won't know what to do with yourself not having any company next week will you?
Gotta go, the &%$&( raccoons are on the deck again - Stormy and Quill are not amused.
Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today everyone.
Dianne
Morning all,
We'll Norm is off for morning coffee, adding donuts to his venture into town..lol.
I' finishing off 4 Georgian Bay Christmas balls for them to take home as a reminder of their trip so off I go but will be back later this am as they will be leaving around 11..
Prayers for you and yours Dianne..difficult time!!!
Good morning from me as well. Looking forward to my "dutchie" from Timmy's.....
We are a bit concerned about the track Hurricane Irene is taking. It appears to be heading for our home. In any case, we do feel the need to get home before she arrives. We will stop and do some food shopping before we get to NH as I'm sure everyone there will have cleaned out all the groceries. I'd hate to get home and have the store shelves empty. We were so good about using up everything before we left on the trip!!!
We had a super day yesterday. As we have every day. We crafted in the AM and toured in the afternoon. We had a wonderful ride all around the area where Betty lived with Roger. She showed us the lock which was fascinating to watch (I'll post pictures when I get home), we visited for a while with her sister (Sharon who shows the dogs at Westminster) and then went to a dinner of fresh caught fish!!! We had pickerel, trout, perch and whitefish. Absolutely delicious. And the best part of the afternoon was that Betty's friend Kathy was able to join us. What a lovely person she is and such a good friend to have.....
Well ladies, here comes Norm with our Timmies for this morning. Have a wonderful day and I'll check in when I can....
Ahhhhhh Timmies! I can smell the coffee from here!
Morning everyone. Dianne, sending prayers with you and hubby for your Dr. visit today. Prayers also to all those on the east coast with this storm approaching. Right now there is a mandatory evacuation order for North Carolina. Everyone please listen, pack your bags and get to safety please?
Ok Barb good idea about stopping before you get home as we can not find any batteries it seems the first thing to go.
We are not expecting anything until late Sat early Sun.
Everyone running out to get generators.
My concern is all the water so may be clearing out the basement as this is where the sewing room and computer are.
It is odd but watching the Weather station they have never mentioned Maryland .
Please everyone in Irenes path take it very seriously. This one is not going to turn the other way.
I looked for Tim Hortons none down here. I LOVE coffee. Going to see if can order online.
Waiting for pics Betty.
Barb and Norm have a safe trip.
Will be in and out .
Strange when you think about it a earthquake and a hurricane all in the same week????????????????????
Mandatory evacuation for Norfolk Va. they are taking this one seriously.
They moved all the ships to sea .
Good morning everyone,
Dianne...my thoughts and prayers are with you both this morning...we are all with you right there in the Doc's office...feel our hugs and our love.
Laura and everyone else in the Path of Irene...stay safe and keep us posted...praying that the storm moves out to sea and does little or no damage. Must be so scary not knowing what to expect. Big Hugsssssss
I will look into Tim Hortons coffee for you Laura...the coffee comes in 2 size of tins...medium(not sure how big that one is) and large(32.8oz). To send with Canada Post would be a pain in the behind, because they want us to use their stupid boxes($) and if you use your own box they charge us an arm and a leg...maybe Betty or Susan has an idea how to send you some Timmies.
Barb and Norm have safe travels back home and if you see Debbie on the way give her lotsssss of hugs from us.
Debbie and you give lots of hugs to Barb and Norm...will be a hugfest for sure!!! lol
Bev...would loveeeeeeee to see the new you!!!
Busy day for me today...huge pile of laundry to tackle and lawn to mow...would rather sew!!!
Love and hugs for everyone
Thea
Thea thank you for the offer for the coffee but may be a bit easier and less expensive to order online from here.
Will give it a try after the storm .
Stay safe everyone.
Good morning everyone!!
Dianne so glad you talked to your friend last night! My T&P are with you and Warren today.
TIMMMMIEEE'SSSSS!!!!! Great idea Laura, I'm going to look for some online today too!
Sooooo sad, Barb and Norm just left...got to tell you all both are dear people, will always remember their visit..only good things and am hoping it will be the same for them..
Even my girls took tp them, dropping in for last farewell!!
Missy tried to go home with them. June warned Norm that Missy was hiding in their vehicle...thank goodness she noticed, otherwise she would be living state side.
I will get my housework done, floors and washing then off to town as Sailor needs salve..the last two days she has been unusually agitated and with storms in the air she hasn't been able to settle...with our being away most of the day yesterday she pulled hair out and chewed her hind area..
Laura, Crissy I will be state side in a few weeks and will mail you some Timmies..am sure with how many Tim Horton stores are opening on your east coast that soon Laura one will be in your neck of the woods.
Are any of you seeing inclement weather that is worrying you??
Laura, sounds as though you are ahead of the game getting all your sewing supplies on high ground!!
Well, if I sit for a bit I'll not get what needs to be cleaned done
So best I get a move on!!
Waving to all
Be back later with a few photo's...want Barb to post her photo's and give her thoughts on what she has seen..but will post a few....
omg - evacuating NC? worried for all our friends there..... including Jaye & Vic.......
