I can't read those sad dog stories, either......my dale still lays down next to Doug's recliner every night, that tears me up enough...Andy, Sarah looks wonderful! You've taken great care of her....Dave, my GSP mix doesn't let me out her sight, either!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Dave, what a little cutie Buster is. My Jerry would come into the bathroom with me, but since he likes drinking out of the toilet and getting into the trash in there, then it's off limits to him.

Andy, Sarah is looking fabulous! Glad to see her looking so great.

came home from work.. frazzled from the traffic.. Hope wouldn't shut up... just barking her little head off.. yelled at her a few times to no avail ... put her thundershirt on.. 5 mins later she was sleeping.. I swear this thing really works

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Great news about Hope, Allison! Glad to hear that it's working.

Here's a story I thought was very interesting about subway riding dogs of Moscow, how these stray dogs learned how to use the subways to go into the city to find food. Truly amazing, and shows how smarts dogs can really be. Make sure you watch the video.

Smart dogs!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Extremely smart!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I know, very smart. Would never have thought they could work things out on their own like that.

Clifford was outside helping us with yard clean up today.

Clifford, you're a big help.

Went to Castle Island in Dorchester yesterday with Patches and Jerry and Dad and my friend Gretchen. There were a lot of people there. It was a nice day for it.

Cutie dogs (and folks) on a day out. I remember getting some really good grub/munchies on Castle Island in the early 80's, hope it's still good!

South Hamilton, MA

Interesting sailboats in the background.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Yup, food is still good. Yes, lots of sailboats out there. Wish I could go sailing one day.

I remember its best not to go to the Harbour Islands on a windy day. Looks like it was perfect for Karen's crew. I'll keep this in mind for trips with dog.

Cliffie, Patches & Jerry are the cutest guys! Looks like an awesome place.....I love to walk by the ocean, which is why I should move to Kennebunk....you can walk for miles by the ocean.......

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Jen, they are pretty dogs, but very short lived....Victor, I remember a dog honored by Westminster Kennel Club for his work after 9/11.....

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

That was a very touching set of photos about the 9/11 rescue dogs. Here the people had masks, and there were no obvious precautions for these noble animals.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I'd like to see a follow up story on the dogs, see if they had come down with anything like some of the workers have

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I was thinking the same.

The guide dogs were incredible. Never left their people despite all the chaos and danger.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, guys.

Great photos of the rescue dogs and their handlers. Thanks for sharing, Victor.

After 10 years, not many of those dogs are left.....that's a life span for a lot of breeds....

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

You have a good point there, Marilyn, though many medium to smaller dogs can live 15 years or so, depending on their quality of living.

Might be worth watching.
