How hot is it?

Trenton(close to), TX(Zone 8a)

I am experiencing a mirage. I think I see moisture falling from above.

You have never heard of Toadsuck? Have you heard of Frog Knot? That is a Collin County wide spot.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

How 'bout Possum Trot, Goober Hill.. isn't TX diverse and wonderful?

And HOT ~ 108° yesterday.

Welcome back "eyes"!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Our outdoor thermometer said 116 yesterday. Our thermometer sits in sun and away from breeze, but my husband still insisted I misread it, so he checked - 116.

Shortly after that, our neighborhood lost power. We ate supper out at a restaurant nearby, near a bank that said 108, returned when it said 102, and were very happy to find that our power came back before we did.

Losing power sure made me think about all those east coast folks who are without power now.

My mirage is over. NO MUD!

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

I went to a UFL (Unicycle Football League) game yesterday. It was in a city parking lot when the temps were 111F. It was easily 125F out on the blacktop and I couldnt believe they let the game play. Luckily, everyone was drunk. HA!

Talihina, OK

Today I saw the first signs of fall there were some blooms opened on the Sweet Autumn Clematis

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Drunk's not good in the heat.......but thank God it is cooler, somewhat today. Hiya Pod...thanks.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Cooler? Its was a 109 on the back porch today, better then 113 like yesterday. I guess thats cooler.
Im hoping my Sweet Autumn Clematis isnt dead. It looks dead but is a well established plant, I have watered it but I think it may have been just too hot, I hope when it cools down I will see some signs of life.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

We had clouds and a very small shower and it was a cool 99 today, maybe we are on the way!!!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

99 does seem refreshing..........never thought I'd say that. Tiny bit of rain but the wind and the clouds sure felt good. Sorry those further south didn't benefit any.

I'm back from the cool weather of New Mexico.. nice evening temps in the 60's. It was a shock to get out of the car when I got back to Odessa! The nighttime heat was startling! LOL Saw a little rain on the way out of town there. Everything up there is still nice and green from all the recent rains. I am truning into a houseplant when home though.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

3,000 acre fire at Possum Kingdom. One deputy unaccounted for. Dear God, may he be safe.

Fulshear, TX(Zone 9b)

This was the reading on my car's thermometer yesterday at 2:00 p.m. !!!

The fires in Possum Kingdom are just unbelievable. A friend lost her home in Gaines Bend in May, and now it looks like the fires have come back to get all of her neighbors. Yikes!

Carla

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I'M SOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED! I just checked the 10 day forecast for Houston. It MAY rain and it MAY get a little cooler (like below 100!). Yippee! Janet

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

We have the same forecast its crazy when below 100* is so exciting, but at this point it is!!!

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

We were supposed to have 5 days of scattered or isolated thunderstorms, but they have disappeared. Now it is sunny with more sun to come. That also pushed back our days of cooler weather by 3. It is to the point where I don't like looking at the weather just because I know what is going to happen. Sunny with no chance of rain

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

I know what you mean, Tina. Originally the forecasters said we would be below 100 today (Thursday) but that got pushed back and pushed back. Now they say we "may" be below 100 on Saturday. Riiiiiiiiight.

Carla

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

They said its supposed to be 99 here, not 100. Big Deal 1* : (

Talihina, OK

The Choctaw Nation has their big festival on labor day each year ,it is actually a big deal with headliner acts and games along with food and all for free!!!!!Sorry for rambling but the point is the forecast is for a high of only 90° on Sunday sure hope it comes true for them ..I never go only because I don't like crowds but it is a great event for the tribe and I hope the heat does ease off for it .It is held at Tuskahoma,OK.which was the original capitol of the Choctaws in Ok.

Iowa Park, TX(Zone 7b)

Hey grits, it's about time it cooled off, eh?! I'll have to look up Tuskahoma to see how far it is from here.

Talihina, OK

Don't know if it shows on many places it is closest to Paris Tx. of any place in Texas..

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

I hope Houston is getting some of that rain.. at least some part of Texas will benefit from that rain event. As for that temp on your car thermometer.. how did you sit in the car to take the pic?????!!!! One hot oven. I used to make sure I watched the weather on the news every night but got tired of "Hot.. Dry... Hot... Dry with a little less hot". I do occasionally check in just to see if something is going to change. Can't wait for winter just for the maybe cooler weather.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok, I'm a bit confused, nothing new, BUT I was under the impression that the temps were supposed to go down the below 100 this weekend. That's what the weather reports have been saying. Based on this inaccurate information I postponed a few must do garden activities to do in this cooler weather. Well my thermometer, in the shade on my back porch says 105.5*. How is this cooler? Now because I have put stuff off as long as possible, it looks like I maybe filling 200. 3" pots with soil In the comfort of my A/C house. Thank goodness for tile floors. Then i will wet the soil and stick the germinated seeds in the pots tomorrow morning and set the flats outside. At this rate I'm not sure it will ever cool down.

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Lisa, that was based on hopeful forecasting of the tropical storm. Now those same forecasts are pushing Labor Day as the day of relief. I sure hope so...the forecast looks wonderful with temps in the low 90s for highs and low 60s for nights. :) *crossing fingers*

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

lol - 102 here, which is distinctly cooler than last week's 112.

I'm starting to believe it will end. If you look at the national weather map, there's definitely north wind headed this way.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, I agree that, 105 is better then the 113 that we had here last Sunday, but 105 is pretty much the average Ive had for this summer. Isnt it crazy when the 90s sound so good? This heat just drains me. I really want to believe the weather people but...

Iowa Park, TX(Zone 7b)

Thanks for the info Grits - I'll look up Paris, TX. Yep, it was still hot here, too, so the cold front couldn't have actually made it here yet. Hopefully when it does the wind will blow some of these zillions of mosquitoes away! I don't mind the big slow mosquitoes so much but these little fast boogers are hard to slap and they hurt.

Trenton(close to), TX(Zone 8a)

72 degrees this morning. Indescribable.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

We are actually finally receiving light showers from LEE! The moisture is much needed as will be the temperature reduction.

It has given the temps some much needed relief and it not supposed to be triple digit for a few days.

Is that possible?!!!?!

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

72 degrees here this morning along with misting rain..ahhh..so nice to sit outside for abit...still getting some of the wind and misting rain from that Tropical Storm Lee..

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Yup! podster...lol...all I have been doing is watering my place every other day to keep my yard from turning brown which is 5 acres..the woods have done good so far..saw a group of deers coming out to get water near my chicken's water pans on Thursday before the rain and wind got here..guess I will get them a big water pan out and fill it up after the rain stop..

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

75 degrees here with a light breeze but no rain, it is my day to water, so here we go.

Talihina, OK

Lady pearl just try googling Choctaw nation I think they have a big website

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Wichita FallsTx us 82 east to Paris, (almost to Texarkana, )north on us 271, wave hello at my sibs an nephews in Paris, north and west to Madill at my aunts n cousins, grits, makes me remember the Davis Mts, Boggy Depot, and muddy Boggy rivers, chuckle, wading in the Blue river, and county wide fish fry/bbq deer, goat, beef, pork, chicken holiday weekend parties, everyone bring a dish, and have a meal, kids runnin everywhere

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok it's 105* again on my back porch. Supposed to be cooler tomorrow, I predict a very windy night

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

lol If it's 105 with a 20 mph north wind, just think how hot it would be if the wind were still out of the south.

Things down here just bursting into flames... still need the rain...

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm not that far from you. When I went out to feed this a.m. I noticed the wind coming from the north it felt strange but the back of my house sits facing south so no wind back there. What do you things are bursting into flames? Everytime I go outside I smell smoke.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Hmm, I dunno, the one in Cedar Park is closest to you, but that should be downwind.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I didn't know there were fires anywhere. I did watch the local weather channel thingy. Thanks for the links.
