Definitely not something to play with.
Coffee Break #64
Sorry about the bear, Bill....haven't seen one since last year, & that's OK with me!
We have funny looking bears here. Their nickname is mosquitos.
My wife and I are feeling terrified, excited and blessed all at the same time. We signed a contract today for new roofing (full tear-off and replacement), 7 replacement windows, a new front door and a 12 foot by 24 foot covering for our patio at the back of the house. The patio covering is something we have wanted since we bought the house in November 1987. The work starts in early September and should be complete in 4-5 weeks. Also, an HVAC contractor is replacing our 20+ year old furnace on Monday 8/15. We should see significant energy cost reductions and get some tax credits this year.
I want a photo, Bill!
so didn't i victor - i will be on the watch for it - although i am not going to fill the feeders again for a while.
Fill them with hash brownies!
Wow Dave that's a lot of work
But well worth it. Good luck, Dave!
After we replaced windows a few yrs ago, out heating costs went down. Good luck with all the improvements.
Bill, I often wonder what such a large animal can get out of a feeder. Perhaps it will get other peoples berry bushes as well.
guess the have a heart won't work for that Bill
;)
i hope not allison - would hate to be the one to let it out:)
Great project, Dave...I'd be excited, too!
We finally got a new street sign after the last one was stolen several years ago....and...it's misspelled!
Doesn't it make you wonder how many people had to see the misspelled sign before it was installed? Nobody questioned it?
One of the most frequently misspelled words is...misspell.
Here, at DG, the most frequently misspelled word is "to". People constantly use it in place of too.
Another one is the word definitely. It's often spelled "defiantly" and sometimes it's really funny to read it in a sentence: I will defiantly plant the peony!
thank god for spell check - do not have it on the tool bar at work though
I dont dwell on people's spelling, (or pronunciation), here on DG, or anywhere else for that matter, I grew up in a city where there are people coming in from all over the world everyday so it would be silly and impractical.
( Not to mention the fact you can get a baseball bat upside your head if you make fun of them! lol!)
- With that said, 'official' signs put up for the public should be spelled correctly, there's just no excuse for that..
They probably didn't want to spend the $ to replace it once it was made.
This official road sign is hilarious: http://www.nbc15.com/home/headlines/51608007.html
A few more that amuse me: http://www.foxcharlotte.com/news/weird-news/misspelled-road-signs-98323629.html
I cannot believe how long they have waited to clamp down in England. No way something like that should ever see a second night. They really should be able to handle it the first night, but there is no excuse whatsoever to have a day to think about it and not act. Heads should roll.
From what I've heard they have some serious internal problems in law enf.
They have for a long time.
Should have sent in the military
I doubt it, that would seriously lower morale in the ranks.
Nice to have someone looking out for us.

Pretty funny. I'd be more grossed out about what's in the fast food they're about to eat.

Crazy, if true. But a lot of this theory makes sense.

Gee, I didn't think words would be necessary.

Wow - lost another whole thread again, so it took the past 45 minutes to read this one and catch up! Thanks all for the nice birthday wishes for my son and Celeste's. Interesting that they have the same birthday exactly 10 years apart, huh?
Victor - glad to hear your knee is doing well! I know you'll be happy to get back out hiking in the fall especially. I would have missed your fall photos if things had been otherwise!
Pirl - I'm really laughing at the misspelled signs from Mecklenburg County. I recognize a couple since I taught English there and am just positive that some of my prize students are likely now on road crews! lol
Welcome home, Jan!! I'm sure it must have been worth it to return to a parched yard. Your trip sounded like it was just wonderful!
Whoa, Bill, that is something about the bear. Hope it has gone along its merry way by now!
Funny that so many of us live on "Hill Roads" We live on Taylor Hill Rd. :)
That snake video was really creepy! From inside the hood it could have come into the car instead, couldn't it have? looks like more nightmares tonight! I'm still not over the last one when the giant snake that had human arms reached out and started choking me before it sunk its venomous fangs into me.
Dave - I think your renovation sounds wonderful! It will be like having a new house without paying a mover!! Good for you!
I have about ten minutes left to the peace and quiet in the house. Our grandkids (3 and 6) are visiting for 2 weeks. We are having such fun with them, but they are still kids and we aren't used to having a house full of people day and night. Wouldn't trade it for anything! But some quiet time is nice. Hank and the puppies are napping and the kids and their Mom are meeting her sister and kids at a playground. I'm chasing down some DG time!
Adorable is what they are!!!!
Thanks, DB. We'll talk about this trip for a L O N G time I think.
Too cute!!!!
They are soooo cute Louise! I understand the quiet time, GK can wear you out.....FAST!
Oh, what cuties! But yes, I know about downtime when they're gone! Back to the road sign....when I returned home from my trip tonight, the sign was gone. Don't know if someone stole it, or not.....Just down the road apiece, a passerby noticed a car wrecked by the dam......8 hours later the police found the driver, wandering on top of the rocks on the face of the dam, delirious.....newspaper said he's critical....Don't know if he wiped out the road sign first.....
oooh, that doesn't sound good, Marilyn! Hope the guy is OK.
Head injuries....it doesn't sound good.
so sad to hear that
dope
