That sounds so nice Pirl, a lovely redneck garden with some nice, authentic all-American deer happily jumping and frolicking on the lawn, with their little cute tails bobbing up and down... Wheee!
No rain here, Westhampton airport had 45mph winds, but the spotty storms just missed us...
Now 75° with 83% humidity, a nice breeze from the North at 8mph, but if feels damp, skies are cloudy
Weather in your garden # 102
Storms keep missing here too.
Ah, yes, WC. Bambi playing hosta tag shortly before the gun with the silencer stops the action. I dream!
Storm just passed and more thunder so maybe more rain to come. Very noisy.
(lol)
- Yes very noisy, just got a little shower that lasted 45min, just enough to wet the plants, (anything is welcome), hopefully it will cool down a little more now.
80 and low humidity today(48%) hot and humid will be back by the weekend, yuck!
Victor, DS is 21.
nice! :)
And you said I didn't have chaos in my garden!
so sad
:(
Looks very organized to me :) So sorry about the deer damage though. I'm sure it's heartbreaking!
Bummer. You need that mt lion there!
I see some color echoes in the tarp and towel :)
You're funny, SOJ!
Very lush sans tarp!
Thanks, SOJ. It's twice as nice and oh so fragrant in bloom.
What's the name?
Maybe. It looks very similar to a fragrant one I have. Unfortunately I got most of my hostas before I realized I might one day want to know more than that it was just a hosta.
Yes, it is the mom.
Ours were part of the inherited landscaping and a local nursery owner, with whom I trade that hosta for his plants, told me the name of it or I wouldn't have known. He and I have been trading for 17 years now.
Time for new cicadas!!
Rained a little here but nothing to measure
the same here Jen.. only lasted about 15 mins.. but I will take it.. 62 now going to 86
Its 58 and very sunny high of 77 for today. It rained off and on all night long, The plants are very happy this morning!
Pirl, I missed the beginning of the story about the deer. Have you tried liquid fence? Works great for me, smells bad when you spray it, but once dried the only ones who can smell it are the deer. I use it on my phlox (deer candy here) among other things.
Lovely patio.
Gorgeous breeze this AM! 71 and sunny.
It's a beautiful morning here and twice as nice since...I won the war last night. I couldn't care less about the deer being hungry since they missed their hosta "all you can eat buffet".
73, breezy, sunny, hostas with leaves!
Thanks, Candy. We have the Liquid Fence but in the extreme heat it can't be spread and we are both "older" and that two gallon pump sprayer takes Jack a few hours to use and the smell is obnoxious. I may try to do some today with a spray bottle.
Joy to the world!
Pirl what do your neighbors plant, do the deer bother them? - or do they just have a lawn like most here on the island??
71°, wind Northwest at 7mph, H 78%, clear skies
- best day of the week today before the H% comes back, 85° is our predicted high for today, going down to 66° tonight.
Pirl, you were smart to think of the tarp to deter the deer! Better to have a redneck garden, than no plants left! Beautiful day today....sunny, breezy, and low humidity....going for a haircut, must do some grocery shopping, but I will get into those gardens!
Most neighbors are of the grass and green meatball shrub types, WC. The neighbor with the vegetable garden (don't get me started with the look of it!) used her slingshot Tuesday morning and got the doe, which scared the buck who was happily grazing in the vegetable garden (because the neighbor didn't completely enclose it) so he jumped over the horrible boards, 12' high, and they ran off with the fawn in tow.
Marilyn, the tarp and all the things I put down did work to keep the plants safe, thankfully.
What a beautiful cool breeze coming in the windows now!
OMG....I'm glad my neighbors only raise bulldogs!
Great morning! (wish they were all this nice in the summer..)
- I see now, lots of brush and cover, your neighbors like the 'natural look' (lol!)
LOL is right!
Ugh - veggie garden designed by Sanford and Son!
Oh, yes!!!
Hi Pirl! I think you have inadvertently assisted me in IDing my generic hosta plants that I have not been able to ID. They look exactly like your plantaginea! Bingo.....much too simple....right? Thanks!
and I love the "green meatballs" description. I must be in a giggly mood today. Our Wild Blue computer guy came and he seems to have fixed my computer problems (fingers crossed). Yay!!! I also saw the fattest, largest hummingbird I have ever seen perched on Bill's birdhouse "smoke". Plus - this day couldn't be any more gorgeous!!!! lalalalalalalalala
The leaves are definitely on the thin side especially as compared to a Frances Williams.
You're having a great day, Louise. Continue to enjoy it. I'm loving the shade and the breezes.
