Kyle, God bless him, just left..spent a few hours with me, he sure did look tired..another hot day tomorrow laying brick walkway..said he was dizzy today, told him to tell his boss if it happens tomorrow, boss in A / c backhoe, might not realize he's not well.
Meant to tell you today at lunch I walked over to pet shop...
Yorkie. $699.99 loopy ear rabbit $39.99 and the prettiest canaries $39.99. Something was free, maybe guinea Pig...oh those puppies were so adorable, all looking very healthy and clean surroundings
Best I keep away from there
Best/Worse/What did I Learn today-chat with friends!
yes, we're tenting - under a canopy of huge trees, so hope we'll be cool. There's a creek running through the park, just 10 feet from us, so we can dangle our feet in it. Also, last year we got a blow-up dingy we can go out in, so that should be cool :-)
Sounds inviting Susan..remember the blow up dingy, didn't I tell you about the Canadian tire blow out sale where I got all the kids one? You'll so enjoy! No calls re jobs?
yup, Betty - I was thinking about you having told me about the dingy at Cdn Tire!!... and meant to say thank you!! Fancy you remembering!!!
This will be the first time we can use it!
Remembered mainly because Kyle was here, said they were getting things ready for their 10 day vacation i.n Tobermory and were bringing their dingy.
Trying to stay up for evening shift but starting to nod off
I am here early. Hubby has had quite the night along with the rest of us.
He and Shane put the window A/C in. We just couldn't take it....and with the baby here, she needs some coolness!
Then, "The Childs" car blew. We dont' know whats wrong. DH was out for 2 hours in the 90degree temp trying to get it going...no luck. He is hoping it is starter...but thinks engine or tranny. Neither of us have the funds for that....so it looks like I have lost my car so the girls can get to work for now. Grrrr!!!
Izzy feels much better...but is getting some TLC the next few days as her wounds heal from fleas...a few razor nicks....which were unavoidable. Her hair so long and matted. BUT she will be resting...and feel much cooler.
Here is "before" with her kitty Axl
Let me see in my stoupper if I cand explain the dancing ghosts for Laura! I can explain some of it tonight and finish it tomorrow?
Laura, depending on how large an area you will have to decorate will decide how many ghosts you will need...ooops before I start should know if you will have hydro?? A must for this project....having a tree nearby would also add to the design.
I personally had 8 or 10 ghosts..
I bought 10 square white plastic tablecloths at $$$ store..usually about 70" x 90"' not square so I square each one up i.e. 70" x 70". Sounds quit large but not, makes about a 2 ft ghost..now if you have old white sheet you could cut up it would work just as well
Now depending on how many ghosts will depend on how many wood stakes you need..6 ghosts= 6 stakes (will be used for body) Nodding here..will finish in am if ok with you Laura or if one of you are pretty sure where im going with this project you can finish for me...lol

Hello To All !
We got the room / "house".... for next weekend... just 2 nights. This should be interesting ... I've never stayed at a B&B. Are you supposed to 'tip' the hostess?
Betty - I would still 'vote' for heat wave vs. blizzard.... but I suppose thats why I live here.... So neat that Kyle checks in on you so much ! I'm getting excited hearing about all the great things you and Barb will be doing ! ( Norm too !) BBQ sounds fun ! Norm may need to ask another week off from the new job !
Barb - those fabrics look like an airbrush or oil painting...such detail ! OH! I want a Toyota Highlander ! Tell me you love yours.....love the pic of Norm.
My new "Game" in honor of Crissy.... the "Sandwich of the Day" game... how many names for a sandwich can we come up wtih ? Today's Sandwich is "Po-boy".... wonder what tomorrow's will be ?
A po' boy (also po-boy, po boy, or poor boy) is a traditional submarine sandwich from Louisiana. It almost always consists of meat, usually roast, or seafood, usually fried, served on baguette-like Louisiana French bread (WIKI)
I'll pop back in a bit....
Hugs,
Mary
Oh Debbie does it never end for you??just got to be a break in there for you and Paul...not good news about the car but look at Izzy, must feel good. Fleas, sand fleas?? Got to tell you all the meds from vets did not work with Sailor..benadryl or the likes given morning and night has stopped her clawing and now she's pretty well clear. Have you tried with benedryl?
Oh look at that gorgeous child, you will miss her when she's moved!
Izzy looks SO COOL! Wish I felt that cool right now... reminds me of Camper one of Moms dogs we inherited when she passed away... She had that (what they call) "Double" coat....
Betty, Izzy gets benedryl for the itching...one pill by mouth...and the lotion on her "spots". Not sand fleas....nasty little jumping fleas. I have to go get another tube of Advantix tomorrow....and a new bed for her.
Yes I will miss Kylie when the time comes. BUT with this car issue...won't be going anywhere soon. Need the "savings" to fix the ride....which was meant for apartment. SO, I am just frazzled. THe Child has not even had this car for a year....it has been nothing but trouble since day one. AND since she bought it private from someones front yard....nothing we can do about it.
Yes, Izzy has (or had) a double coat. Took that poor groomer....2 actually....from 12:00 til 4:10 working on her. Got the call at 4:10 she was done and come get her. She has slept since.
Now that "his puppy" is home...Axl can rest also. This was taken before the shaving also.
Hi!!
Wow, what a nice surprise Mary to see you post in the middle of the work day!!! LOLOL sandwich of the day...ack only other way i know is Submarine sandwich, hmmm maybe a different wy will come to mind.
Awe, sure wish there was enough time,I would have sent you my Grecian Top! Sure hope you have a great time at the Play, and hey it's a start at being invited. I am sure you DD will love that your there, even secretly...lol kids!
I was so bummed to see your were sick, so sorry I didn't pick up on that, but i am glad you are feeling better...LOL on Whirligigs, Now i decided if i do read it again, I will read it as 2 stories!!
Gosh Debbie, holy mackerole, I say you need a vacation!! Come on over...Seriously, so sorry about the car, sigh we are on the same path again, lol...been sharing car with Julia and Sabrina and DH...Well i hope you are able to rest or play with whatever you want while you are "home bound". awe, Izzy looks like she is getting comfy...Gowsh, this heat is horrific.Today worse then yesterday.
Anyone hear from Dianne?? Hope you are doing ok.
Yikes, was 110 with heat index
...Even Birdie decided a shower was a tall order!!
Ohhhhh Skittles!!! You made my day Judy, thank you for that. My tiels like the "water" once in awhile. They can't come out of the cage in the house...so I take them up to the bathoom and put them in the shower. Boomer loves it....Syndey squaks the entire time...but is happy after.
Dianne has been busy, and I think her hubby has an appointment coming up for his post op check up. She was dealing with power outages at 6:00 this morning from the heat....so I hope she didn't loose it again. She has the same heat we do.....nasty..even by the lake. And Warren needs that A/C right now...so sure hope thats not the case.
Sandwiches. Lets see....our Po'Boys up here are called Subs, Submarines, Hoagies, or Footlongs. OR Hero sandwhichs!

Judy, that picture of skittles is so cute. We have a large spray bottle I use for Paco, and he will sit on the top perch, and spread his wings, and wait for me to spray him.
Debbie, so sorry to hear about the car giving up! Sure hope it is an easy fix!
For those of you that have problem with fleas, have you thought about getting a cedar bed for the dogs. It is a natural flea repellent. Maybe you can find some cedar chips somewhere, and make a bag of some sort for them.

PJ/night gown swap interest thread is open. Come and check it out please?
*yawn*.......... just waking up and getting the sleep out of my eyes........
I have a job interview at Noon today, so thought I'd better get my paperwork in order. It's for an Office Manager position at a Construction Co, but it's through an employment agency, so I don't know what part of town the job is in.... At least the interview, although downtown, has free parking!! Parking costs are horrendous in Calgary!
Good luck on your interview today! Hopefully it is not too far from home! Any word on your last one?
No word on others I've applied for, but the one I interviewed for last Friday said they had interviews on Mon/Tues and I should hear from them on Thurs/Friday. I told them I was out of the city on Friday, so hopefully I hear today.
Good luck at the interview Susan!
Woke up to HOT and the day doesn't get any cooler. Temp will be over 100*F here, with humidity 115* - 120*F. Gosh Betty maybe Georgian Bay will be warm enough to swim in before September.lol
AC is going full blast here, DH is having one of his 'hot'days - in some ways his 'cold days' are a little easier to handle. Well, cold to him right now is the high 70*s. Sees our GP today or else I am going to have to take those stitches out, They itch him like crazy.
Have lots of little maters on my pitiful crop of 10 plants. One good thing about the maters being in buckets on the deck is I take much better care of them.
Barb, I bet Norm is chomping at the bit to get that work truck of his!!!
Judy did you get paid yet?
Anything new at the Deli Crissy?
Just to add my 2 cents I TOO WILL CALL GREG, Betty!! Get yourself looked after.
Dianne
Morning Dianne! Sure hope they show up to remove his stitches! Are they controlling his pain better?
Wow, that is really hot for you guys! We have been 101 - 104 for several weeks. Just too hot to do anything outside after the sun comes up!
Thank you Dianne for getting after Betty....she needs a time out!
We have the high humidity and heat index here also Dianne, said their is a warning for Orleans and Niagara for the most trouble.....yep, I live in Orleans. Afternoon is supposed to be worst. They have "air quality" warnings along with the heat so after some errands done ....like getting hair trimmed....I will plant myself in the house until time to pick up the girls.
Betty where are you this morning?
Susan, good luck on the job interview. So happy you are getting calls. I have yet to get one!
Ok, need some breakfast and my 10:30 appt. is sneaking up on me.
Debbie
Welcome to the "get Betty to the Dr" group, Dianne! It's becoming quite a large, albeit friendly, group, isn't it? LOL
I could say "enjoy the heat while you have it, cuz we'll have Winter soon enough" but geeeeeeeeeeze Louise! That's "bloody hot"!!!!
My maters are growing, but as they're at a friend's yard, I don't get to see them everyday. We get lots of rain, divided with lots of heat/sunshine so I'm pretty sure they're doing juuuuuuust fine! I called her during a Huge rainstorm the other night and asked her to do me a favour ("could you Please water my garden?") - She laughed so hard! She says she'll water it while we're away camping.........yaaaaaaay - might come back to some ripe stuff?!?!
Debbie - I wish you good luck in your job search! We have quite a different job market here, and they're now looking at the older employees, not like in 2006 when we moved here and they only wanted the newbies! That was tough, being told that the young only wanted to work with the young......... when I was told that, I decided it wasn't a "fit" for me either, for sure!!
I am excited...we might have summer squash this weekend. DH's dang peppers are almost ripe and there is NOT a site of a ripe tomato at all! My pepper allergy is getting so bad I made the kids tacos the other night....and my eyes swelled shut just from the seasoning added. No more!
Debbie, that's not good. Maybe you can get a surgical mask to wear while cooking, or get someone else to do the cooking?
o my, Debbie! My friend has an onion allergy, and I planted them at the far end of the garden so if she was to pick some produce she wouldn't have to go through the onions to get it, but now she's going to water the garden, so she'll have to do the onions, too. Won't have to touch them to water, though lol
It's nice that she shares her yard space and I share the produce - symbiotic relationship LOL
Debbie, that's not good. Maybe you can get a surgical mask to wear while cooking, or get someone else to do the cooking?
I like the "get someone else to do the cooking" part LOL
Good Morning!
I'm sitting here listening to the rain and thinking of the things I need to do in the house since I can't be outside. We got home about 5:30 on Monday and have been working outside to play catch up. The SIL came with me, he is still sleeping. The animals were all good when I got home and that's a blessing. We had a good time, but was ready to come home. I work the next two days. I'll have to make a list for SIL to do while gone to keep him busy. It was 100* here yesterday, so we worked outside till 1 and then went back out last night around 6. We need this rain, so is very welcomed. I need to call my DM in a bit and see how she is doing.
I hope this post finds everyone well and that the heat is not getting the best of you all. I'll chat later and wish all of you a Great Day! and God Bless you all.
Shirley
(((((Shirley))))))) g'morning, lady! So glad you're enjoying your SIL's visit. Yes, keep him busy lol Nice that he's there helping you, and you're getting the outside work done. Did you have someone watching the animals while you were away?
I hope it doesn't rain while we're camping, but that it rains in Calgary to water my gardens LOL I have a friend coming by to look after our cat, Baby. Which reminds me - I'd better get a key to her today lol
Betty hasn't posted since 9:51 last night.....tapping foot. Hope Paul just put her to work and she isn't having a bad time!
Shirley, so happy you are home safe and sound. I know how that feeling is when you KNOW it is time to go home. Glad the SIL is there to help, he sounds like a wonderful person.
Well, I have dragged my feet long enough and now have 15 minutes to get ready and get down to have my hair trimmed for 10:30. Procrastinations......hmmm...not me? LOL
Maybe Betty's taking a "time out" from listening to us natter at her about going to the Dr?
If so, Betty - it's only cuz we love you.......... please don't be annoyed at us.
Morning, gee whiz Louise as someone usually says, for me I say 'drats'..
My morning,
got up before all the neighbors, infact it was still dark so I could water (ban on) .., absolutely too funny, here two other neighbors were out doing the same thing so we chatted...came in, emptied de-humidifier, of course it should be done 3 or 4 times a day in this heat, should put the hose into the sump pump area and let it do it's own thing..it being so humid and with the furries in and out I decided to do all main level floors then it was time to rush ...
Got here and 2 nieces (Paul's daughters) dropped in on their way to court for company business, just wanted to see our new digs..then Paul came in on his way to Toronto, pay day 'oh happy days'!...on Tuesday I told Paul the rugs were dirty, he said 'no, just shadows' nope, I know they are dirty so I brought in my rug cleaner, some solvent, (SO YOU SEE I'M FEELING WELL ENOUGH TO BE A MOLLY MAID" and just got 2 of the 6 rooms done...not over doing, actually kind of relaxing then we can start with a clean office AND now here I am..ready to chat on my break..if I get 1/2 the rooms done that's fine.
Tomorrow I'm going with Suzanne to our Peterborough office, haven't been there yet, will be company for her, I'll get to meet Melody (Paul says she's a younger version of Betty) and I'll train her a bit so when I'm on vacation or want extended lunch hour lol or sick she can take over for me...won't get home till much later than a normal Friday day but what to heck..
So now I'll go back and read and come and chat
Debbie OMG!! Big Big Big hugs for you sweetie, unreal that things keep happening! What a cute baby!!! Izzy looks soooooo much better and LOL the tuff on her tail! Debbie dang girl, that's some serious allergies there! Be careful and Yes get someone else to cook for you! You definitely deserve it!
Nothing happening at the deli, thinking about letting that one go, this is too stressful when there's not much I want to do about it anyway at this point in time. Every day I'm in a different mindset about it though, so I'm sure in 30 minutes I'll be thinking something else.
Good luck at the interview Susan!!
SHIRLEY!!!!! Good Morning!! So glad to see you post and SIL is there with you! Yes keep him busy!! You can send us some of your rain, we've been 105* all week with the heat index, it's horrible!
My temperature logo right now is reading 92 Feels like 111 ok..and it's only 11am..I'm in awe that with this mall been kept so cold more people aren't coming in to walk and enjoy the frigid temps..maybe they are so hot that they just wish to stay in the house...
Susan, looking at the clock behind me, you'll soon be heading out for your interview..that position sounds like a lot of fun as you'll be working with construction workers..maybe you can find a hunk for me, Crissy and Debbie...we love to LOOK!
Debbie, not getting all your hair chopped off are you, so love it, natural curls...nice treat for you ..I did tell you that there is a hairdressing school across the hallway here, I watch people going in and out..should try them on my lunch seeing as I could also use a cut! Want to look pretty for the Elvis's this weekend!
Shirley, glad to see you post and that you are safely home..lordy, think you are the only one out of all of us that is getting rain, enjoy...with your SIL's visit, have you gotten most of your 'to do' list done, with this heat it's difficult working long hours outside..maybe a day inside will be good for you.
Dianne, by now you'll be off to the doctor's, know our thoughts and prayers are with you. He'll be thrilled to get rid of the stitches I'm sure. With you, best of my gardens are right off the deck, easy to throw water on them..you are all making me hungry talking about fresh veggies you'll soon be eating. Not much action with the furries right now, they also are feeling the heat.. made sure the kitties were inside with a/c and before I had a chance to leave this morning Missy escaped..so many warning with regards to animals.
Speaking of Animals, Cathy called me at work yesterday afternoon, she was riding her bike and saw what looked like a large black dog, checked a little further and it was a bear. Apparently they are coming out for food..bit on the dangerous side for the young ones playing on the trails.
LindaKay, listened to the weather station last night and they said although not quite as hot we will have same type of weather for next 3 or 4 weeks..nice time for those on holidays.
Jeff/Julie are enjoying themselves, yesterday was a day of rest, am sure they are packed up and off to the next set of locks..when I read his blog and see him with an almost shaved head , usually wears it quite a bit longer..looks heavy with short hair.
Be back shortly to continue the dancing ghosts..
What are the "dancing ghosts" for?????
Laura, depending on how large an area you will have to decorate will decide how many ghosts you will need...ooops before I start should know if you will have hydro?? A must for this project...having a tree nearby would also add to the design.
I personally had 8 or 10 ghosts..
I bought 10 square white plastic tablecloths at $$$ store..usually about 70" x 90"' not square so I square each one up i.e. 70" x 70". Sounds quit large but not, makes about a 2 ft ghost..now if you have old white sheet you could cut up it would work just as well
Now depending on how many ghosts will depend on how man wood stakes you need..6 ghosts= 6 stakes (will be used for body) ..the stakes are easier to push into the ground if you've cut the bottom into 'v' shape
White stuffing that you buy at craft stores or fabric shop is used to create the head. Simply create a ball, about size of a balloon, drape the white sheeting (plastic or fabric) over the head size (determined by the size of your ghost) and secure with ribbon or wire to the top of the wood stake..
