§ Sweet Interruptions § 222

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1191250/

I'm here.
A little daze, but here.

Sis Kathy, stay away from the sun!!! Pneumonia is nothing to play with.

Broke down and saw the doctor. I couldn't go by myself, and Kel had to work, thank God for my church sister who has the whole week off.
Not my regular doctor that saw me, but his partner, who's NOT an eye candy and very abrasive manners.
I wish the PA would see me, as he has better bedside manners and would whisk me out of there fast!
I'm diagnosed with bronchitis and rhinosinusitis. Heavy duty antibiotics that upset my stomach, and later I'd have to get some yoghurt.
It's bad enough that I have bronchitis, the smoke in the air from wild fires just aggravate my lungs more.
Thinking the rain might at least clean the air some.. wrong. The county where the smoke came from is dry!
I'm not going into how erratic my blood glucose count has been.
At least I got some sleep and rest from coughing.

Susan, sorry I missed your call. What's a cry room?
Is it a confessional room? Or for the infants?

Sue, prayers from the Southeast! Hope baby can wait till it's due time.
Single good looking paramedics?? Sue, if you could see the paramedics here, you swore they're Mr. America rejects!!!
Your basement would be free of insects for a long time, with all that garlic fume!!
When I was active in Yahoo Chat, my moniker was "Garlic Blossom". I sure didn't get a lot of friends.. :(

Pegi, too funny about bringing the doctor home!

Got to share with you all this embarrassing little story.

Now, you all know I can't say no, right?
Carolyn, my church sister, after the doctor's visit, stopped at the CVS pharmacy. She said she wanted to treat me to a hair coloring.
Apparently she felt sorry for my gray locks. Told me it will be a surprise color, but one that would compliment my "tan".
Well sistahs.. she sure did surprise me.
My hair is now a deep burgundy :((
But I made her happy that day and told her that I will get use to bur--frking--gundy I don't have the heart to tell her I hate it, as she's bent on "making my day"!!
I don't know whether I'll go to church this weekend with this head!!
No.. I shan't take pictures.. thank God my camera broke. Trust me, it's burgundy!!

So, Crissy, you'll fit on this planet with your new color.. Lord might as well put me on Mars.

How's your day?

Okay, brought over my last post...

Somehow, I'm thinking Tim isn't going to like the single, good-looking paramedics coming by, Sue...sounds like it's time for a conjugal visit from your husband!!!!!

Hope you friend is having good things happening by now...

Sis K. and Jaye, hope you're both feeling better. Wish I could be with you to take care of you both!

I'd surely love to see a picture of Jaye with burgundy hair...quick, someone drive over there and take one!

SSSHHHH HE WON'T BE HOME UNTIL AUGUST sssshhhhh.....
Oh jaye no the burgandy hair !! actually is darn right PURPLE !! beleive my friend did that to me also ! oh heavens what are you going to do ?
ok went to tractor supply . had fans going. air cleaner on full blast and wow ... nuffin'k ...still smells.
don't get me wrong i love garlic but this is headache city
time to die dye with the kids

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, it was so nice talking to you! So glad to hear you laugh. Sure wish we could see that burgundy hair!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

s'funny, Jaye, but I like burgundy hair on me, and was just talking the other day to my DH about getting it re-dyed to burgundy!! LOL I was born with auburn highlights, and rather liked the "tinge of burgundy" on me LOL

Tried calling you again, Jaye - you must be out watering your plants!

It's 38c/100F right now - can hardly Wait until the hot part of the day to see what it will be......... j/k - I can't take the heat!!
I went to Marlene's to water my veggie garden and her flower gardens........ heat is scorching! Glad she has shade trees, and there seems to be a cooling breeze Under them, but not in the sun........ yikes it was hot! I was glad when the watering can overflowed onto my legs!!!!!!!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Burgundy hair, wow you can join the young ones who color their hair all sorts of colors. You can go to church, just wear a nice big floppy hat. OK now I want my grey hair all gone, but just too much work for me. What I really need now is a hair cut and short curly hair. You know, the wash and wear kind. I wish there was someting on the market that would make your hair stop growing at least for 6 months.

Hot days and high humidity, we aren't used to humidity so days like this we suffer. DH just said he can't take the heat, my reply was who can. He thinks he is the only one who is suffering from it. They are saying we will get some cooler days soon, but I'm not believing it until it happens.

we are at only 89 with moderate humidity. sure hope you all get some relief soon from the heat.
jaye how are you feeling ? better i hope. Get you some Jook in your girl !
well i did a lot today.
got some hosta's repotted
some small tree's repotted
went to grocery
got rabbit food
new water bowls for chickens
chased a baby raccoon out of my GH again !! i lost several plants from him tipping over the pots grrrrrr.
got hamberger on s tove cooking
i have been alchol free and well not excatctly sugar free. but i m taking one day at a time. LOL
sugar is the hardest to quit

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm having nightmares of plums and purple on my head!!!

Yah right Cookie.. remember the burnt copper hair I had? That's when I let Kel chose the color. I didn't mind that a bit.
This doesn't suit me at all. Trust me, it will only make you feel sorry for me!!!

Susan, I'm sure burgundy suits you, as you're fair of face.
When you called, I was out getting yoghurt! Good Lord, it seems that I'm never next to the phone for your calls!! Sorry sistah!!

Pegi, I do own a floppy gardening hat. Seriously, I rather brown bag my whole head!!!
I know, Jesus doesn't care how I look like, as He knows my heart. But I sure don't want to entertain the church come Sunday, that's the preacher's job!! :(
My face is too broad for short hair Pegi. I'd look like a she-man!!!!

Sue, if sugar would taste bitter, it would be easier to quit, right? Unfortunately, our taste buds prefer much pleasant tasting foods!!
Ahhh.. you understood what it's like to have burgundy hair!! Rest assured, I shan't let Carolyn touch my head again!!

It's been another hot one yesterday, and it's expected to be another rainless day. Guess I'll return to deep watering later today, with a mask on, from the smoke.
Ironically, the smoke kinda lower the temps down.

Hope y'all have a great Friday! I'm returning to bed!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL! Visions of sugar plumbs danced in their heads...

Hope you can get another color soon Jaye. Maybe lots of highlights will dull the color some?

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!

I would ask you join me on the back porch to watch the hummers, but the honey bees have taken over most of the feeders, and I don't know how to get rid of them with out hurting the hummers? The bees are so bad, we can hardly go out the back door with out shooshing away the bees!!! If anyone has a solution, PLEASE LET ME KNOW?

good morning
we got some rain.
not much else to report ?
dreamt of garlic ! LOL purple garlic that is LOL

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Put them out their own feeder. i did. I line a saucer with Lava rock, so they wouldn't drown and made up some sugar water. It drew them away from the feeders. I am not afraid of bees so had no problems.

Thumbnail by ridesredmule
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I did that, and was going through a gallon a day just for the bee's. They still go to the feeders, no matter how far out I placed the dish for the bees!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

You got some contrary bees there....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hi all - stopped in for a minute from delivering newsletters - 200 of them!! I've done about 75...
then I need to do the church washrooms (2).
Tomorrow I have 2 LARGE potato salads to make for the Stampede Lunch.......
I'm talking to Jaye now and she's doing ok, but still has bronchitis.........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you finally got her on the phone! tell her to rest, and stay out of the smoky outdoors!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Don't think she's staying indoors, but I do know she's resting :-)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello sistahs.
Must be a good Saturday weather for y'all to stay away from the pc.
Glad if you could enjoy your weekend.
I've been trying to follow the doctor's orders.
Work outdoors for a short while, then sleep indoors for a long while!!
No more smoke LK. So, that's good for the residents' lungs!

Just got through getting Kel's 'lunch' ready. Now I'm back to bed. My back is sore from all this resting. But my cheeks have color back in them :D

Susan, your church certainly need some new members who can help you. But then, working for the Lord certainly is gratifying.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Jaye! Glad your getting some rest.

Jaye so glad your feeling better.
did farmers market today. i m pooped !
oldest DD is doing good in her apt. found some beer !! so i reminded her , not only is that bad for your meds but you can't afford beer !! we didn't put that in the budget. you barely have money left to smoke ! LOL so you make a choice eat or smoke ?
tonights movie is Avatar. we have our goodies and kids are in jammies.
i may be asleep by 7;30 but i still have watering to do and laundry.
stay well Sistah's

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Avatar is a good movie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sue - Avatar IS a good movie - sorta makes me think of GI Joe meets Pocahontas (the animated movie) LOL

I was busy cooking 20 lbs of potatoes and making potato salad for the Stampede Lunch tomorrow at our church.
The church got a note in the mailbox saying "Clean your windows, they're awful" LOL Well, afraid I'm going to have to put it to the congregation to see if someone will do the job, cuz the work needs to be shared around the church. At the moment there are 5 of us who consistently do stuff, and another 4 who do kitchen duty when there are big dinners (3x a year - and that's no small feat!), but some other able-bodied people need to "step up to the plate"!!!
Well, we'll have to see what the result is of my plea for people to do it. Most of the windows are pretty high - need a ladder, etc, just to reach the bottom...........

I like the movie too. LOL yes GI Joe meets Pocahontus does seem right . :) love all the colors in the movie.
just woke up
got to get some java in me

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good morning!!

Jaye so glad you're feeling better!

Sue that's just stressful, like she needs beer. Hope you enjoyed Avatar, I haven't seen it.

Well my day started out at 7am yesterday, my computer wasn't connecting to the internet so I rebooted the modem and unplugged and replugged things in, nothing worked so I ended up calling Hughesnet and my satellite needed to be repositioned. Got that fixed and went out and cut up a wheel borrow full of iris that I dug up on the 4th, then pulled weeds in all of the beds including the veggie garden, then I cleaned out all the closets in the house at the heat of the day, did laundry while I was cleaning closets, then went back out around 7ish and washed my car and watered the whole acre almost, picked some veggies, then it got too dark so I stopped. I somehow have fleas in my house so I need to get the vacuum out but I'm pooped today!

wow Crissy you were busy. work them calories off girl.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Oh what I would give for just a little of that energy. I did go out and check on my garden, don't think I'm going to get many squash, plants really look bad. Picked 3 of the black carbon tomatoes, well have to get lettuce before I can have a BLT. There are a lot of worms that I can't find on the tomato plants even though I see a lot of poop. Hope it doesn't get too warm as I do want to pull up some weeds. I don't think they need water to grow.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

You know, its amazing how weeds will grow in anything but it takes hard work to get a plant to grow. What is up with that???

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I wonder if we can find an answer to that one crissyr. Just doesn't seem fair!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

The one thing I know is that if it's difficult to pull, it's a weed. If it comes out easily, it's a plant........ LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ain't that the truth!

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!

Been a busy week-end here. I had my youngest son here with his girlfriend and Grandkids! He gave me a new tattoo. It is on the top of my arm, just above my wrist.

Hope everyone is doing well today.

Thumbnail by taters55

Good morning
Lk that is a very pretty tat you got. ! love it.
not much going on here
dried some herbs and asparagus and i forgot to turn off the dehydrator :( so we shall see what comes of the asparagus :P
i dry them and make powders out of them
also did some fennel, basil and rosemary
and some garlic scapes
next is garlic bulbs ! remember to do that OUTSIDE LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Sue. What do you use the powdered asparagus for?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm curious too. What's with the powdered herbs and veges? Is it true asparagus can be used to induce urine flow, for urine infections?

Crissy, weeds can grow in any type of soil, whereas plants need nutrients. If the soil is rich, weeds will of course rule the 'kingdom'. Another theory is, what we can't tolerate, will aggrevate us, like stepkids!

Oven alarm went off, brb to check on LK's tat!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Pretty tat, LK, but I would Never put myself through the needles! "shiver"

Bob's gone for an interview - his first! One of the members of our church passed on this one to him, and I gather he's recommending Bob for it. Sure hope it's something he can do and enough of a wage that we can afford it - with me not working, that is........

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Me too Susan, can't stand needles. Bad enough that I have to give myself shots!
Hope Bob will get the pay you need to justify losing uneemployment benefits.
LK, nice tat!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bob's interview finished, and he would be getting more $. They have other interviews, and will let him know next week if he's successful.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Jaye. Whats in the oven?

Susan, praying Bob will get called back to get hired for this job!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

He asked where he would be sitting, and they took him there. They will let him know next week (we hafta wait another week?!?!?!) siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh
btw - they asked if he would work overtime, and said that would be 10-15 min lol he said his idea of Overtime is 2-3 hours LOL

Susan hope the job works out for him
i use dried asparagus for many things.
soups
dips
sprinkle in scrambled eggs or an omelet
i dry and make my own spice mixes .
mushroom and asparagus is my new one with sage
onion soup mixes
dried mushroom soup mixes and dips
herbs
gonna try beets this year.
corn too. to make my own cornmeal
peppers are always fun to do
i love drying foods. lots of work but so much worth it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Keeping my faith in the Lord, that He'll take care of you both Susan. Hope it's what He had picked for Bob.

It's pizza, LK. Kel loves Tostinos, but I had picked up the wrong box, Mr. P. It wasn't as good, fortunately Kel eats ANY pizzas!! I had home made curry pastry.

My lilies have all but shrivelled in the heat. I'm afraid I'd lose 3/4s of them :( So this afternoon, as a last resort, I had made a 'pick me up' tea with fish emulsion, instant coffee, epsom salts and Miracle Gro. I forgot to add molasses and beer.
I do hope this concoction might revive them.
Replacing them is not in the budget this year, sadly.
Of course, stubborn me, worked in the heat.

Sue, that's a good idea dehydrating veges!! You'd have instant soup mix in the pantry!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I picked up some soup broth yesterday (veggie and chicken - already had beef boullion) and I'll be making some soup out of them, and the fresh veggies I got. My veggie garden is only producing green onions, but I have chives at home, and with the broth and fresh veggies from the store, I should have a lot of soup to eat/freeze :-)
I got a great soup recipe book, and am bound to try 'em!
From yesterday's BBQ we were given lots of hot dogs (and buns) as well as some bratwurst.

Believe it or not, we also got a whole pig! One of our church members got in touch with someone that BBQ'd a whole pig!! Wow was that rich and good!
