Best/Worse/What did I learn today/Chat with friends!

Crissy, he has had a day off....he was off July 1st.....worked non stop since! Before July 1st he was off June 20 & 21st. SO....we are just taking advantage of this as it is "few and far between " for overtime.....and we honestly don't know how much longer he will have a job.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I would too, he's going to be wiped out but overtime is money, especially when the paycheck quits rolling in, I'm in that position right now with a husband that seems to think I'm loaded and can afford it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Break time, Ann just left after a nice visit..she's off to the city till Thursday then having family come for the weekend. Her uncle, 90, passed away and funeral is Tuesday in Lindsay so the girls will take her. I'll be playing bingo on my own Tuesday...

Crissy, remember when I was at the lake, often it would be affected by snow, storms and a simple adjustment would do..glad you are back on track.. Maybe put Dave on a budget and he might get the drift that you are doing the best yo can and not a lot for extra's..nothing worse than living with a moody man!

Debbie you thought Paul would know by now as to his position being stable or not? Each week is a blessing then, o/t hours included!!
Are they now working a skeleton staff until they do hear?

Afternoon went quickly, talk about humid out there..it's presently 89
Bet LindaKay is saying 'that's cold' lol

Should eat, Ann brout me a piece of birthday cake...can't wait..strawberry

Victoria Harbour, ON

Few coats of finish and I can attach them to the DG Friendship Mileage post I have in the back garden...still six more to do but ran out of wood..wouldn't you know, always have extra and today no wood...

Primitive painting but will do the trick...

Oh Betty, those are beautiful! And I love my daisies!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can't wait to get. Them on the post...tried to do 3 of each pattern, when I came to last 3 thought I couldn't possibly do 3 daisies, only one Debbiedaisy so only 1 should be a daisy..might try to pick ip wood on my way home tomorrow so I can finish the others!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Betty - those are beautiful and I feel very special to be a part of your garden !

How very interesting ! I would have thought Susan to be very close yet she is the furthest....and I'm almost as close as Crissy... makes me feel that I could actually meet you in person very soon....when are the gatherings again? I need to see if I can make something happen.....

Betty - the "T....." something was the "county" maybe? our tags have a location at the very bottom.... I didn't pay attention to the tag number but the bottom county thinking maybe it might be near ya'll. we have "Parishes" in Louisiana. However I do not think I've ever seen a Canadian License tag until this last trip ! I'll try to google and figure out what I saw... LOVE YOUR POND ! was going to tell you that fishies sometimes hide for weeks until they feel comfortable coming out....

Crissy - you are 100% CORRECT. AFter MIL/FIL's house today we stopped at Autozone... and DH said there was nothing wrong with my tag lights. isn't that silly though? if I were smuggling drug plants... I wouldn't have them waving around in the back of my Tahoe ! LOL.... so sorry you are having to deal with your DH and issues.... he needs to get a job delivering pizza's or just something to contribute ....

((HUGS)) Bev... Scotty just isn't himself it seems... love your flowers !

Debbie - you posted the lilies? what do they like? I have some that I have somehow not killed and need to put in the ground....

I'll pop back in a bit... ((HUGS))
Mary

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Beautiful signs Betty!!! I too am honored to be part of your garden ^_^

Baton Rouge, LA

Betty - just looked up all counties in Canada and I dont' see anything that I recall was the word on the bottom of the "Canadian" license tag? Hm.......

Lyndonville, NY

Mary my lillies are in direct sunlight out in the middle of the yard. No shade at all. But they get watered every other day....which seems suitable for them.

Running behind on everything.....need to get to bed. Busy day tomorrow.

Sweet dreams
Debbie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - how truly beautiful these mileage posts are - what are the flowers on mine - are they Alberta Roses? I can't enlarge them enough to see, but they're Gorgeous!!
I agree - truly honoured to be a part of your DG Friendship Mileage post!! What a wonderful idea! Sorry to see that I'm the furthest of all, but it just goes to show how we all come from far away, and are yet so close to each other. There are times when I feel like I could step out my door, walk across the street, into your home and sit down to coffee with you!!!

Verona, ON

Morning everyone! Well here it is4:27 am and we have already lost the wonderful streaks of light in the sky we had just last week. Yep, the days are getting shorter! I often work out in the garden from the very first light until about 9am or so, but would need a headlamp so something today.

Scorching heat here as well. For a DH who hated Central AC and did not want it installed when we built this house he sure has become a believer! It is so warm the lake is like bathwater right now.We are having a horrid time with zebra mussels and you can't wade into the water without sneakers on your feet.Only takes 1 boatowner who does not wash a boat when he takes it from 1 lake to another to cause such a mess.

Bev I am so sorry Scottie is so angy and treats you so terribly when you are able to go visit him. You sweet lady take good care of yourself. I suppose by now you are so used to Scottie's huffing and puffing but it still hurts doesn't it?

Betty so glad your fish all reemerged. I would have had no idea what to do other than dump them in.

Mary, hope DS (oops just typed DH) is home with a great attitude change that will stick with him. That pic of Belle was precious!!

Crissy just wondering if Dave's self image has taken such a hit this last year and you are the one to bear the brunt of it.He better soon be given the 'Ship up or shape up" talk. You do not deserve to be talked to or treated the way Dave has been treating you.

DH is home as Debbie mentioned. I am just not quite ready to talk about all that took place while he was in hospital and we were both blindsided by some more bad news. DH is a big man so is very hard to turn in the bed when I am here alone. Being such an independent cuss DH has figured a way to get out of bed with no assistance - 3 cheers for him. I had hoped to get him out on the deck for a bit yesterday but that didn't happen so maybe today.

Need to get doing something, sleep is still the elusive factor for me.
Enjoy your day ladies, make sure you do something nice for yourself.
Dianne

Morning all, although it looks like rain and feels heavy (humidity 54) I must turn to Frankie Flowers for official weather forecast! Wouldn't be bad, if it did rain as the gardens can use it.

Dianne, rare that the lakes are so warm and am not sure it's a good thing other than for the swimmers. Zebra muscles are a big problem in our area as well, does not help to control when we lived on the Trent..boats traveling our Trent systems were not always diligent in cleaning their boats, guess almost impossible for the yatchs. I do not remember though having to take care when swimming! Thank you for the update on Warren and yourself, I'm sure it takes all your energy to get through the day..it's much appreciated. Saying prayers for you both..

Thank you girls on your kind words re the signs..I got a coat of finish last night put on and this morning..if I have time will give another and should be able to attach them on the post tonight..will post a photo

Susan you are not the furthest on the post, our Laura, Wonder Down_under from Australia is but you are 2nd..

Few things I must get done before leaving ! Tape up the dresser
cabinet I'm returning, animals to feed and tidy the painting area, will gab when I get to the office

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning everone. Well, the big family gathering was yesterday. What a wonderful day it was too. My nephew from Mississippi was here and his lovely wife came this time too. We had never met her and she was the big surprise my brother said he was bringing. She is just lovely. We had a wonderful afternoon together. And as evening approached, we sat around my dining table and watched the hummers at the feeders. My SIL was so fascinated!!
Yesterday was also Brandon's 2nd Horse Show. From what I've been told, he walked away with a ribbon in every class he was entered in. He was awarded Senior Equitation Champion and was the Show Reserve Champion. I guess these are the two highest awards of the day. He has worked so hard for this. I'm just so proud....Can't wait to see him....
Today we are headed out - Norm has another interview - he is pretty sure he has the job he wanted but is waiting for the final word from them. In the meantime, he goes on any interviews he is asked to go to. Who knows, one of these may work!!!
I will be back later. Have a great day all......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Wow, you all have been busy this week-end.
Bev and Dianne, please know were always sending prayers your way!
Please tell me what zebra clams are? Do they damage the boats?

Betty, your garden signs are beautiful! Glad to hear you could save your mat with the bleach.

Barb, glad to hear you had a good week-end. Congrats to Brandon.

Susan, how did the BBQ go at the church?

Been a busy week-end here. I had my youngest son here with his girlfriend and Grandkids! He gave me a new tattoo. It is on the top of my arm, just above my wrist.

Victoria Harbour, ON

All settled in..wrote a long post, minimized because I had a call, opened up Joann's flyer, zap, there went my post...so let's do this over again..lol

Debbie, love your lily's and I cannot understand how it's only in Ontario here that seems to be affected by the new lily bug??? I'm upset over losing all of mine this year, 2nd year in a row so after losing mega $$$ in plants I have to not buy anymore until they find a solution. Does Paul get to stay home today?

Barb, how exciting for Brandon...winnings and ribbons show him it was well worth the effort he put into it..he must love it and is a natural at it...bet next time he comes to visit with him will be the ribbons and you must take photo's...

Smart man that hubby of yours..exactly what I would do, continue looking for employment until he gets the call to start AND who knows, he might get to pick which job he wants (providing of course they allow him his holiday in August) lol

LindaKay, bad news about the zebra's...here is a link

http://www.otterlake.cyberus.ca/zebra_mussels.html

Wow, love te tatoo but I see red around it, it must hurt like the dickens..might have one if not for the pain..until they come up with a pain free tatoo think I'll settle for the tatoo stamp.

Mary, we don't do them by county..we do ours by provinces...
on top of the lettering mine would say 'Ontario' and Susan's would say 'Alberta'

As for the policeman, I think he has an 'eye' for a pretty lady!!! nothing more..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty that's the way our license plates are here in the states too, but I'm sure you know that. There's really no way to tell what county the license plate is from unless you know how the numbers fall. Some of our states say what county they're from, like Tennessee does that, but just a very few states do that.

LOL!! I think the policeman should have been called on his retardedness and shown that the light was fine and he could have been in big big trouble for harassment for that. Bad bad bad cop.

I'm in big big big big trouble y'all, I have the owner of the deli downstairs chasing me and he's giving it all he's got and I like it!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, some areas of our bodies are more pain tolerant than others. This area, on the top of my arm, was not too bad! Now if you see a tattoo on the top of a foot, on the ribs, or under the arm, near the armpit, OW!!!!! Those areas are tender. Sometimes the healing process is more painful than getting the tattoo. But this makes 15 for me...

Wow, those zebra muscles are so invasive! Sure hope they can find a solution for them soon!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just spit out my coffee Crissy...you are just TOOO funny! Does owning a deli almost like being a doctor/lawyer???? hmmmm good looking fella?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Surely LindaKay with all the high tech of today they could find an easier method than needles..15, bet you are glad your son is an artist in the field of tatoo's

So quiet here today, all on my own, not sure why I didn't check things out better as to the schedule because I could have worked from home..must get into the habit..will check with Paul to see if our new way of working can be done now or when we move...

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

i have had 50 yrs of manipulating men and oh yes scotty was being himself when he does't get his way. time for me to take care of bev.

Thumbnail by dragonfly62
Victoria Harbour, ON

You've got that right Bev...Amen!!!
How did your tests go?
Your son is still with you though right? Would hate to see you doing all of the work around the house/garden by yourself. Must be difficult with cast, how do you fill in your day?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty he's got something but he's not anything I would ever go for, I think I just need some attention from someone who cares, the way Dave acted and spoke at the wedding is still very loud in my head and it's not going away. I just saw him and he was all talking about how he's going drumming up business this week by handing out flyers and talking to people, I told him that it's going to be 111* today! LOL he doesn't care though, business is business. LOL I don't have a clue how much it brings in, he said he profits about 10%.

YEAH BEV!!!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

In Florida, we can choose to have our county on our plates, or not have it, and there are tons of "designer" plates to choose from with some monies going to causes......

many fl teams, like the gators, agriculture, save the bears, save the panther, choose life...etc ..etc...way too many to even think about, and each have different costs.....it is crazy..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, it is time to sit him down, and ask him what's going on! His attitude would not be allowed in this house, and if Todd acted that way, I would be packing.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I hear you Crissy on the 'hearing nice things' lordy, with the work you do outside/inside of the home, work and pretty'ing yourself up you'd think he could be a bit more loving..gee whiz, an odd hug or pat on the fa*&y wouldn't hurt... even at my age I like the odd glare...lol

Thunder, what kind of schedule do you have this week? almost done your swap quilt squares?

Laura, you back from camp? was it as nice as the link described?

LindaKay, we're from the old school and although they say 'old school' put up with a lot I'm sure we did but we are wiser now, it would be a no/no and out the door you go! Women are so independent now days, why they can do absolutely anything they wish to do so why put up with being mentally abused and as far as I can see, not paying attention, running down your partner IS abuse

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Good for you, Bev!

BBQ went fine, but the Ladie's washroom got flooded - someone flushed paper towel down the toilet...... and that backed up the sewer so the Men's washroom was plugged as well. I had to call the City to unplug it. They were quick, but some people left early because of the announcement of "No washrooms"..... We had over 200 people at the Stampede Lunch. There was a lot of food left over, so the ladies of the church gave it to Bob & I - how sweet, eh?

We just found out that a call from Purolator Courier was our passports (no, they didn't give me my tracking #, just Bob's and called him "Rob" so we didn't think it was ours......) that our passports were attempted delivery and now returned to Hull Quebec. If they'd used Bob's correct name and given me my tracking # too, we might have picked it up. Well now we have to fax to them for redelivery by our Post Office.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Crissy - it's time to "smarten him up!" He's obviously "dumbed down" and is acting like the lowest common denomonator of homo sapiens! (there, I had to get that out........ I'm starting to feel Dumb lol)

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL I can even say that sentence Susan let alone understand it???? too funny..

Not good about the washrooms especially with such a crowd nor about the passports..oooh bet you needed them to go camping across the border right?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes, Betty - but we have no plans for camping yet. Apparently they would send the passports Express Post, so we'll see. I'm still annoyed that they never gave me my Tracking #, so I didn't know they also had my passport.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

i go for test results thurs. yes rick is still here and helps so much. neighbors and rick take me where i have to go. i can still take pics.

Thumbnail by dragonfly62
Victoria Harbour, ON

Beautiful Bev, almost looks like a rose...glad Rick is there for you and the neighbors..can't say enough about good friends and neighbors, earthly angels they are!

Once you have them then nothing stopping you from planning small weekend trips, you are close to the border right?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

If you're asking me, Betty - yes, we're 4 hours from the border.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Bev those are gorgeous.

Ick, so sorry the washrooms got flooded. That's always a mess.

LOL SUSAN!!! I got it!! I understand that Dave's searching and trying so hard to get a job but I'm scared to death that he's not going to get one and I'm going to go broke. Is that selfish?

Victoria Harbour, ON

NOT selfish at all Crissy if he's willing to take on all the responsibilities at home/outside so that when you do get home you should be able to relax..know that's unreasonable I guess but I think he should..that with a part time job..ok it might not bring in mega $$$ but might be enough to make the difference until such time as he can get a job in his field.

Rather pleased, went to JYSK (new store in town) went to the wicket, explained I had come an hour's drive to purchase dresser promoted on the sales flyer for the opening only to find out it didn't come assembled..she said not much furniture is offered anymore unless high end so I nicely said perhaps that should be advertised for old foggies like me..she smilled..I said that the young lady who said it would be an easy task to put together was wrong..1st no english instructions and the directions done by photo did not explain a thing, said they must have forgotten to include the english version...then told her a white lie, said I had 2 men come over and they couldn't figure it out..so here I was, another hour drive to return it..right away the 2nd salesclerk who just came into the conversation and was the girl who sold it to me said 'couldn't we give her the floor model for all her trouble' so they called the manager!!! She agreed, I was smilling as I need a dresser for Barb and Norm..lol...as we are going to the back to get the once that was together another young woman says JYSK will have to include english directions, which at present they do not...contrary to the other young girl saying they must have forgotten...said they fake it, takes them forever so I said well don't know about other clients but I'd not be happy...

Sooo pays to play the little helpless old lady...lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yes it does Betty, you go girl!!!! Thanks for your input, I'm so confused.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think Crissy the only way to get unconfused is for you and Dave to both sit down and TALK about the situation, perhaps if both give their views, a happy medium can be found..was he affectionate before??

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

He's never been an affectionate person.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Well then - smack him until he IS affectionate LOL j/k, j/k

Betty - how wonderful that you play the "helpless little old lady" so well, you faker you!! LOL I kinda do that kind of thing too - when it won't hurt anyone, and gets me further along LOL And why not? After all, sometimes companies need to have their Customer Service skills shaken up until they realize that's why they're there - to help us and keep us as customers!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Getting old has to have some fringe benefits!! Not ashamed when I'm at a till paying for lunch to say I am..more craft money to spend ( shhhh don't tell my mom) lol

Little dresser fits perfectly, now if only I can remember not to fill up the drawers I'll be ok.. Have a wicker headboard but thought I might so something different..did learn a weekend lesson, don't expect to not have somewhere to go, or a project to do..betty and resting don't go together...

Crissy I don't say the kissy/kiss, hug/hug type a gut but one after a long day at work will show you he appreciates you just by mannerisms..wants to make YOU feel special! You are much too young not to have that in your life..

It's raining ever so lightly, barely enough to wet the ground and yet enough that I can't go outside...talk about humid
