Best/Worse/What did I learn today/Chat with friends!

Lyndonville, NY

Got a note from Dianne.....just to let you know she is home resting, Warren is out of surgery. She will post soon as she has some rest I am sure.

Betty, been a rough day. News crews all over our tiny little community of 800 for Trevor & family.

I couldnt' get an appt. at the docs, will try again later to call for tomorrow. PT went well thankfully.

Be back

Lyndonville, NY

Ok, our Miss Dianne is heading to bed with something to help her sleep! Hasn't slept in about two days.

She was at the hospital with her DH since 6:00 a.m. Warrens surgery was supposed to last 3 hours. Guess what? It didn't....try 4 1/2! AND...no one came out to tell her what was going on and keep her posted. Well, she set them straight.

An Angel interceeded...aka...her OWN doctor...took a look at her while she was talking to Warrens Dr. Yen....and sent her home to bed! She didn't get to see Warren, but talked to him...and his nurse....who was going to give him some "happy juice" so he could get comfortable and rest. He was in quite a bit of pain.

SO, that is it for now. Please keep our girl and Warren in your thoughts and prayers.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie thanks for updating us on both Dianne and Warren, she must have been frantic..let's hope that once the opened Warren up that they were able to do more to help him. Do you know how long he"ll be in the hospital? Hope she can get a good nights rest...

Debbie was Trevor married? I know it's news but you have to wonder why they have to come in droves ..

Hope your dr is able to see you tomorrow!

LindaKay you were quiet today, missed you. Hope you are hiding out in a cool place.

Got home and Cathy had cut the grass and set out 2 vases of fresh cut flowers..no sooner did I get home I worked outside for a few hours..Kyle dropped inon his way home from work to chat..he sure is enjoying it, nice to see..

Tired now, although I was staying awake for the midnight shift I doubt I'll make it!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, Trevor had JUST gotten married! He and Amanda had not been married even six months I believe. He was due to come home in August to be in a friends wedding here.

Dianne said Warren wants to come home "now". BUT waiting for a scan tomorrow. He is on total rest...no visitors...nothing! Dianne said it is very strict to follow that at home also as an illness of any sorts would not be good. She is rather upset as they had planned for some very dear friends to come visit and had to cancel them. I hope they respect the doctors orders and Dianne and Warrens wishes....some can be so stubborn!

I did some exercises for my legs that PT told me today, and the feet/legs are looking a bit better. I think the humidity dropping is helping that also!

Debbie

((HUGS)) and Prayers for Dianne & Warren ....

And Prayers for your local marine and his family Debbie.

Laura - that place looks like a Blast ! We moved onto Hagerstown Drive 8 years ago... never figured out how to pronounce it....but see you'll be in Hagerstown ... Funny !

Yes - Betty - DS drives. I do enjoy driving and this stretch I've probably driven a million times.... I do hope Dad and his wife know they are always welcome. I always tell them they are. But they can't come visit now... the reason DS19 has to come home.... they have Dr. appointments near Gainesville FL.. and will be traveling. They have a home over there too that they are trying to sell.... and that is where their DR's are....

I'll pop back in a bit. Won't be on tomorrow night unless I'm wired when I get to the hotel at 11pm or so....

Hugs,
Mary

Debbie, thanks for the updates on Dianne and Warren. Sending lots of healing prayers for him! Hope she gets a good nights sleep.

Betty, I am here, just lurking today, sorry I am not posting much!

Laura, my hubbies family is from Hagerstown, and Chance Maryland. He misses the blue crabs, and the boardwalk!.

Baton Rouge, LA

So LK - HOW does he pronounce "Hagerstown" ??? LOL

Lyndonville, NY

OMG, blue crabs...ohhh, I miss them from Florida so much!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

hagerstown [hey-gerz-toun]

Hubby will argue that Maryland blue crabs are the best. Personally I can't stand them.

Baton Rouge, LA

AH! Good LK - Ive been pronouncing my street correctly for 8 years.... LOL...Well - we didn't know... and there are various ways to pronounce it....

I'm not sure I've had Blue Crabs... but I LOVE lump crab meat... and I think that is from blue crabs..... my favorite is Alaskan King Crab....

Just made reservations for Comfort Suites / Crestview FL.... so will avoid the problems we had last Friday with "No room in the INN"....... for tomorrow night.....

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

safe travels Mary

good night Y'all

Lexington Park, MD

Dianne and Warren are in my thoughts and prayers.
We used to live in Hagerstown. Jefferson Street was the road we lived on. We were right behind the fairgrounds.
LK I hope you are doing ok.
Safe travels Mary.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sun is shinning and no rain in the forecast.
Leaving for Owen Sound (Sable Beach) region in the morning and looking forward to the tourist shop and beaches, some of the best in our region! Should have booked off today and gone earlier, who knows might ask Paul for afternoon off..

Mary, you are driving there alone so be careful..the long return drive will afford you time to talk and get a feel as to his thoughts on hos weeks visit with your dad! How far will you travel, they are meeting you part way?

Debbie, understandable that Warren should not have company and could easily catch anything going round. When Mike was having treatment Ann had to keep him at bay from family and friends..I had to do much the same and white understand the reasons and am sure others will as well...

How terrible for Amanda, a widow at such a young age..life doesn't seem fair at times does it

LindaKay, just worried about you..are the fingers doing better and are you able to sew...with all that heat have you given up on the gardens

Must change the alarm to get up earlier, seems with this new schedule I'm always short of sit down time in the morning

As with you all prayers and soft hugs going out to all in need!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

My gardens are really small this year, as not much likes to grow or bloom in this darn heat! Temps for all of next week are in the triple digits. I have 5 rose bushes and them don't seem to mind the heat too much. Other than a few morning glories trying to bloom, that is a bout it.
Betty, how is your basket of morning glories doing?

My fingers are about the same. Some days not too painful, but other days they throb. Sewing can be done, but I have to take my time, as I still can't bend that finger too much.

Mary, please drive safely.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, my morning glory seeds did not take sad to say...when I dropped a butterfly off to Cathy's dad he has morning glories climbing on fence and back shed and absolutely fantastic..said he'd give me seeds and help me next spring in hopes I can grow them along side of house..amazing how some can do well in same areas with certain plants and others can..

With me it's roses and anything that vines

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, my morning glories are all WHITE again! I did not plant white at all. All deep purples and blue. The ones along my back fence are not blooming yet. So waiting to see what shows up as that is a different type soil. DH said we need to mix lime in the dirt. Probably why my hydrangia is all white too....used to be blue.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think come spring Debbie I'll dig out along side of house which is about 35' x 3' and put good topsoil/compost..much of my property is either sand or rock with a touch of soil..lol I almost bought 2 hydrangeas when I was at Garden Gallery yesterday, such a pretty color, bit more expensive due to new color on the market but then thought why bother, they'll only turn white

Cathy's dad has the entire garage strung and they are large and healthy and colorful (well not yet but soon to be colorful-just going by last year) think his yard might be more shaded though, that also might make the difference

Lyndonville, NY

I have some in the shade...they won't grow at all. Only those in full sun grow the vines. Did you soak yours first? You are supposed to "gently file" an edge/side of the seed.....soak in a dish of water over night....then plant. I do this until it starts to germinate...and then plant.
I believe our dear Tubby told me to do that....then I read it on the package.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, I did not soak mine, I placed them in wet soil, and kept them moist for a few days till they sprouted. Not too many blooms yet, but here and there I get one.

This one bloomed the other day...

Is gently filing the side or edge of the seed called knicking, or knacking or something like that. I never do that with any seeds I plant, I just figure it's a seed, it will grow!

I feel so bad about the Military Man in your area Debbie, and his family. It's always sad to lose a good one.

LK did they ever come up with a diagnosis for your fingers? Anything they can do about it?

Lots of work to do here again today so I'll see you all later.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning. A late start today for me. We are having a cookout on Sunday and today is make the shopping list day. I'll be going in a few minutes but had to see how dianne and Warren are doing. My prayers continue.
And how are you Shirley? and you Bev? Been thinking of both of you often.
Norm's ready so off I go. Waving to all~~~~~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back, took a quick run to the mall, sloffing off here at work because there are no calls today, much too nice out for anyone to worry about their debts..

I've been searching for a narrow dresser, few drawers in it for a few years and never found one size I need..saw an ad for new store just opened this week called JYSK and they had one on their sales flyer..didn't really want pine but only one I found so far so it will have to do..said I'd take it and the girl brings me out a flat box??? hmmmm, says instructions to put it together are in the box, tools needed also included and won't be difficult..shaking my head here, ever try to follow some of those instructions...anyway it's in the car and if I can't do it then I'll have to call Greg. Poor kid, bet next time he moves it won't be so close to mom..just kidding of course..or the alternative is waiting for Norm..lol

Just got a call from Marg (SIL who is having a breakdown because she is still supporting her 43 year old son and now her grandson who is a young adult and she had to guarantee his stay with her while on house arrest) she's having to travel to Peterborough so won't be able to join me..thought it would have been excellent for her to get away...will rethink what I had planned..can always do Sable Beach another weekend..we'll see!!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Debbie, give them some acidic fertilizer...miracle grow or some such....often labeled for Azaleas, may turn them back to blue/purple.??? I think lime is "sweet" not acidic. and I think the "blues" need acid ?????

Crissy, I believe knicking is correct. some seeds have such very hard "shells" that is why scoring or knicking is recommended

Victoria Harbour, ON

So if I were to purchase same (do have some but not sure for azaleas) and I water my hydrangeas which are not ready to bloom yet do you think Thunder it might make a difference...

Barb, family b.b.q.?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Crissy, fingers are about the same. Dr. told me that it may take up to a year to heal, and it may not heal at all. I was told if they went in to fix the broken bone, that the scar tissue would be much harder to heal in the fingers, so he said no surgery!

Barb, Crissy, any word for jobs for your hubbies?

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, Norm is just waiting for the last of the company check-ups to come back and he starts..Nice of them to take into consideration their plans to come here in August and he can have that time off...sooo am jumping for joy!

Glenview, IL

Good morning!!

Dianne and Warren your in my thought and prayers, So glad Doc had you go home to get some sleep...And I hope all turns out well with the MRI.

Thank you Debbie for keeping up updated!
Mary have a safe trip.

OK, I will forward Whirligigs on to you Barb...lol right after I read it again this weekend!

Thunder, still smiling about our visit, was so wishing my house was as clean as it is now...had to send everyone home so we can straighten our house again!
Clutter, clutter everywhere...haha, you can actually see the craft table!!

Oh Betty, strange being all by yourself at the office...sure hope you get to work from home soon.

OH MY Goodness!! Just loved the Joel Olsteen passage, and how true it is...

Well, I'm packing today, we are headed for the Cottage. We are excited as our friend Paul is going to join us.
His mom passed away a year ago, He is now ready to get away.

Bev, Shirley, waiving hello.Hope you are doing ok.

Mary, I think it's pretty cool to have a traveling book, never saw the traveling pants...I hope im on the list for Seedfolks!

OH Barb, so good you get to see the kids...love the picture with the new feeder.

Laura, Have a wonderful vacation!!

Betty, what you doing this weekend?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hi all - stopped in for a minute from delivering newsletters - 200 of them!! I've done about 75...
then I need to do the church washrooms (2).
Tomorrow I have 2 LARGE potato salads to make for the Stampede Lunch.......
I'm talking to Jaye now and she's doing ok, but still has bronchitis.........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, tell Jaye we hope she soon is on the mend..rough getting rid of bronchitis in the summertime. Tell you, you should be working for the church part-time, you do enough work for them that some payment of sorts should follow..

Enjoy your cottage time Judy..are you including a few extra days? My weekend plans have changed but who knows?? always something crops up to entertain me..always loads of work to do in the yard..might try that sitting in a lounger and see how long I can endure the not doing anything! Another hour to go???

OMG..Suzanne said today she wished I would wear something different that it's boring/boring wearing same outfits...excuse me, they are comfy, wash and wear, I look well dressed..lol she says same old/same old..well not really, I can go about 30 days with 10 outfits and never look the same..some long pants, some flowered pants, some short sleeves, sometimes jackets..drats..what to do what to do? know she was joking but not ... at the same time!

Glenview, IL

Yikes another hour, hope it goes quickly!!

On Monday, wear your pj's...lololol.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't laugh, the days I work from home know I'll be in my p.j.'s but until then will keep wearing my pretty outfits.lol

Entire family going with you? boat in the water or will Steve put it in this weekend!

Glenview, IL

Yep everyone is going...We have to pull the boat each time. Lat time we left it at the pier, OH gosh, it was polluted by the Water birds, yuck, so not pretty.

And, we are pulling the boat and bringing her home! Will launch from Broken Oar and Want to do lake Michigan...Really miss boating!
Why have it sitting all alone up north...We are booked until August after this Weekend!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good for you Judy...Foxy Lady is still covered and on my side yard...not sure if she'll even get in this year..was thinking of calling a local marina who offers to house the boat in the storage area..you call in and they have a gigantic boat mover..put it in for you, take it out for you and then stores it..not cheap but better than a lawn ornament

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - ours is a small, and poor church, so cannot get "$$ from a stone" as they say.
I am, however, able to get "gift in kind" receipts for income tax time! And believe me - there's a lot of that LOL
Service work at the church cannot be judged for $$ value, however LOL

Lyndonville, NY

What a day this has been, I feel like a train wreck with another coming at me. NOTHING compared to others.

Please please please keep our dear Dianne & Warren in your thoughts and prayers, more bad news today. They let her bring him home, it is what he wanted and they both needed.

Our town is being over run due to the soldier killed. I can't even imagine what it is going to be like next week during the services and such. A great tribute to him and his family, but they are so overwhelmed.

Then, we have a Darien Lake "Six Flags" type amusement park about 30 miles away. Most of the local kids work there. Terrible accident on the rollercoasters tonight....dear heavens!

Hugs to all,
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, sunshine day..thinking of playing at the house today. Debbie woke up to the news of the soldier being killed..omg, had lost both his legs in Iraq, was at Darien Lake with family for a day of fun...how very tragic..sending you hugs as I'm sure with all going on it's having an impact on you!

As always prayers for Dianne and Warren..difficult time for both!!
I can only image the impact the news had on them today.

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty, I remember when that young man came home. There was such parades and welcomings....so very very sad. And only 29!! Speculation as to how he could have possibly fallen out as you are strapped across waist and "clamped" over the shoulders into that ride. Just very very sad. Trevors father has flown to California to bring him, and his wife...back home here.

Also, got news yesterday that Carrie & Andys truck was totalled. This was a brand new truck, worth over $40,000 as it was a heavy work truck for the farm. "Rumor" that the woman is in a coma since the accident...but not verified.

DH is at work, yet again, and "on call" all weekend. He has had one day off in the last 18.

Need to find some breakfast. I have three 18 year old boys here...and chaos will insue once they wake up. Came home last night to a giant pink flamingo on my computer! I do love these boys.

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debbie, so sorry to hear about the roller coaster accident! Sending prayers to the family. Hope you have a peaceful day with all the teenagers in the house!

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Oh, not good news. Will keep you all in my prayers.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Early this morning Debbie they didn't have his age..wow your poor little community has been struck with quite a blow..hard enough dealing with this tragedies let alone have the media in masses but guess the rest of the world is interested!

Thought there was a law Debbie about the amount of hours one can work in a week?? And how many days in a row..that is when accidents in the workplace happen, fatigue and equipment aren't a good mix.

Miss having the boys and their friends in the house, who at the time would have thought I would? So enjoy them Debbie, perhaps they'll cook you breakfast...

Had quite an afternoon yesterday, weekend plans got changed, stopped into garden center for another solar butterfly to send off with a swap on Monday then to the quarry for a few more rocks..just got home and my mom had dropped in and as Cathy was here letting Sailor out they visited for an hour, guess mom stayed for about the same when I got home..said she loved sitting near the ponds listening to water sounds..said she couldn't believe the size of the slate I moved and said I should remember I'm not a teen...too hard work for me to be doing...in next breath wants me to come and do something at her cottage..then went on and on about the money I spend..had she not been nervous driving back to the cottage I'd have said a word or two..one, I don't ask to borrow money, my bulls are paid, I'm the one who gets up every day for work...I'm NOT the one who has a grandson in his 40,s living off her spending and stealing her $$$$ nor am I the one who goes to Rama gambling up to $500 almost every week..why people concern themselves with other peoples wallet is beyond me.. When we got on the front deck and she saw a water feature she wanted to know why I couldn't make her one?? I asked her about the beautiful black rod iron stand with extra large pot with the stained glass lily pads and lilies inside the pot where a stained glass fish spouted water over the lillies..nope she did not have one, argued that I gave her no such thing..downstairs I went and got the pattern book to show her. "oh I remember that, wonder what shed I put it?". Shaking my head, ask me if I was sad when she left..10 minutes later got a call, she had locked her keys in the car at the Coldwater grocery store...

No sooner did she leave did Marg ( who was going to travel with me this weekend) drop in with Suzanne and Suzanne' granddaughter for a visit so there went my Friday night!

This morning I'm in slow motion...have the gardens watered, floors inside done and think I'll go take the dresser box out of the car and see how easy those instructions are..quick ride into town later so I imagine there will go Saturday!

Hope the weather is nice for those traveling..Mary, Judy and Laura...for us my it be a perfect day to enjoy being home...
