Thankful to have picked three papayas and used one to make the best smoothie ever.

My cup runneth over.

(Zone 7a)

Today, I am thankful that in the middle of heat and drought, I still have food and water and shelter.

I am thankful for pre-shredded cheese and sliced, pickled jalapeno pepper.

I am thankful for lazy weekend afternoons

Midland City, AL

Lovely child! The youngest of my GC's will be starting school this fall. Man, I suddenly feel old! LOL.
Muscadine season is just around the corner for us. Looking forward to a grape hull pie. I'm experimenting with some muscadine hybrids, but the ones that grow in the woods still make the best pie.
My thankfulness echoes Debra's. Thankful for lazy summer afternoons. All DW and I did today was to walk the property and appreciate what we found. (Jim)

Today, I am thankful for Costco, magnets and bungies.

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

DD from Texas, Nita and i went to Fort Smith yesterday. Am so very thankful we got along and injoyed ourselves. They were having yard sales all along HWY 64 and we stopped at a couple. I found 2 angels. Nita injoyed the stop at Post Family Winery.
Von and Jerry had dinner waiting when we got back. Bar-b-que,baked potato and corn.
Sally, Scoot is doing fine. He's totally out of it right now beside my chair, as are all the other kids.He and the cats have called a truce and mainly ignore eachother now.
I love this cool weather.
Debra, Am so sorry about the break in. You are right, there is bound to be more crime of all sorts wth the economy getting tight.People are afraid of big Dillen, little knowing it's Cricket and the cats that are dangerous.
Buff there is nothing better than veggies and fruit you've grown your self. Tho i found a couple great tasting cantalope yesterday.
Nita needs cataract surgery badly. I found a place in Florida that does the surgery for free for low income people. Will look into that for her.

(Zone 7a)

"They" are saying crime is up drastically in our area because of the economy, too. We're thinking of getting out of Dodge. This is a crime-prone area as it is. We haven't seen anything in our neighborhood. Yet.

Today, I'm thankful we live in a 'pocket of civility.'

Midland City, AL

Today I am thankful to have found work despite the economic situation even if simple data entry is the meat and potatoes of the job. There is the occasional creative task to keep it interesting.
The wild blackberries and muscadines are my two favorite fruit. I bet muscadines do make great jelly with their more intense flavor. I'll have to try that this year.
That's spooky, Debra. You sleeping okay?
How many horses do you have, Quilty? I've never ridden. They scare me a little up close and personal. They're just so BIG, but they are such expressive animals they are a blast to draw.
Right, Kwan,, that's the 'Flying Dragon' Japanese Hardy Orange. The 'Owari' mandarine had to be moved and doesn't have fruit this year. Wicked looking shrub/small tree, but we always have tons of request for seeds in Dec. It grows true from seed and makes an inpenetrable fence livestock can't get through. I guess planting it is cheaper than putting up a barbed wire fence if your not in a hurry and N. Florida rivals Texas when it comes to raising beef cows. ~Nadine~

(Debra) Garland, TX

Nadine, yes, I am. This neighborhood is generally quiet and quite safe. Believe the four breakins I know of over the last six years were all by the young man next door. All during the day, all very specific in activity, and no extraneous damage or smashed up stuff just for smashing's sake. :-)
==================================================================================
Today, I am thankful for a generous supply of EON plant markers. Need them with all the daylily therapy been indulging in. :-)

I am thankful for reruns of NCIS.

I am thankful for braids.

Midland City, AL

I had really short legs when I was little. Getting up that first stip into the school bus was hard for me. I loved my first bus driver. He paid one of the bigger girls to help me into the bus every day. I never knew he paid her to do it until I was grown up and ran into her in the grocery store. :-)

No Central, AZ(Zone 7b)

Today I am thankful for all your hugs and remembrances!!! DH had his surgery Mon and was in there for 12 hours. Dr said first 4 hours were dealing with all his internal scaring from past abdominal surgeries. All went well and the removed bladder had clear margins - no more advanced cancer, so they were able to go ahead with plan A and build a new bladder from a section of intestine they took out. She fels his recuperation may take longer than first estimate, both in and out of hospital. Still in ICU. Tuesday he was fraught with hallucinations and by evening we had to hold his arms down to keep him from yanking his plethora of tubes out. They ended up using restraints. Good thing he did not have his phone or he would have called the police. Last night too. His 2 sons came in to stay with him during the day yesterday and that gave me a day of respite. I ended up sleeping off and on most of the day! Between tension and the 80 mile each way drive I was wiped out. Little calmer today but he is still seeing things. His heart rate is getting lower and oxygen rate higher, so he may be closer to going to a regular room. Thanks again guys for being here for me. You make me smile

(Debra) Garland, TX

quilty, that is great news. big hugs to you both!

i am thankful today for freely running water

for being able to find something good in this bad heat and drought---no mosquitoes!

Dahlonega, GA

Thankful Quilty can see the light at the end of the tunnel and D H is doing well .Hope all is downhill for you both now . Thank you Lord .

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

Thankful here for Quilty,s DH doing better.I remember so well the prayers and tension when a loved one is having surgery.I've always heard the first 24 hours are the most dangerous.
Debra, Inquiring people and all that------Newspaper and aluminum foil????

(Debra) Garland, TX

kids NEED to know how to make sailor hats out of newspaper
and daylilies will exist just fine in a shipping box with wadded newspaper kept damp.
and four layers of newspaper laid out over the soil will control weeds.
and shredded newspaper is good for lining crates and bird cages
and newspaper makes fine paper mache

foil---well, that's for the hats. can't pick up the alien signals without the hats, doncha know... :-D

(Zone 7a)

I notice there are all kinds of uses for newspaper. Not one mention of gathering NEWS from it. LOL

Today, I'm thankful for warehouse shopping, sprinklers, community gardens, arboretums, museums and valet parking.

Dahlonega, GA

Thankful my life is full enough that I still have projects to look forward to.
