I thought you might want to know about this.

Natura Pet Products Class Action Settlement Of Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise, Mother Nature & Karma Dog or Cat Food Product Class Action Lawsuit

There is no problem with the food - just that they advertised human grade ingredients and they weren't and that was "false advertising".

Here is the link to the form to claim a $200 settlement -

http://classactionlawsuitsinthenews.com/class-action-settlem...

You do not have to have a proof of purchase and you can file by mail or over the internet.

My cats eat a lot of Evo - so I have already filed for part of the settlement that may come in May 2012.

I changed foods now.. hate to hear that stuff though

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Hmm maybe that's why the Holistic pet store here was getting rid of it alittle while back... They have me hooked on Taste of the Wild. It is probably the least expensive they sell and it seemed to be my cat's favorite when I did the taste testing of all the brands they carried. They gave me a bunch of samples...

Thomaston, CT

Robs eats Natural Balance, Suey eats Premium Edge.....

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I'm not familiar with them. They have me sold on the fact that cats naturally need a mostly protein diet and most foods use a lot of rice or corn or other things to meet the protein needs. They think it can cause diabetes or othe rhealth issues long term. I thought it made sense a cat really would never eat grains if it wasn't for humans giving it to them in dry kibble form. lol Even a lot of the other brands that are supposed to be really good, that they sell have a lot of grains in them, so I just stick to the Taste of the Wild.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I have been giving Patches Nature's Recipe, but am now switching to Blue Buffalo, which is actually higher grade food and a bit cheaper. Jerry has been eating that, too.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that what my guys get now.. they love the blue too

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I do Blue and raw with Wall-e

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I notice that one at Petsmart I just looked it up because I think I had checked it out and it had grains ,but they have one for cats called wilderness and it says 100% grain free, I could give that a try. It comes in chicken or duck flavor. I think I looked at it and thought it was expensive.. Can't remember for sure. I was giving the wet food every day too but they waste it so it bugs me.. They will only lick the gravy off and if I give them the pate styles they don't even touch it. I was told it's healthier for them to get bot because they aren't good drinkers but I wish someone would market a cat gravy food lol! Maybe I could just buy canned gravy from the supermarket! lol Low sodium of course :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How do you avoid parasites with raw?? Or bacteria?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

there tummies can handle bacteria .. not sure about parasites

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

If you feed human quality meat there is very little chance of getting parasites from the meat. When was the last time you heard of a person getting parasites from meat? Animals have stronger stomach acid than people and that kills any bacteria. My cats never looked better than when I was raw feeding them. I just had a concern about the balance of nutrients because I couldn't get an organ meat the everyone would eat and there was a very small possibility that Sampson's urinary crystals were caused by me feeding too many bones. So I switched to Evo which is 95% meat and no grains. For a treat they get Felidae canned which has no grains but is not all meat.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Some of the wet food I was giving has veggies in it.. I think Evo was one I had tried then they stopped carrying it? Did they get bought by Purina? They said something like that..

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Just looked and Procter and Gamble bought them. That can't be good. . .

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Yes that's it, they market Iams and Eukanuba too right? I looked at the Taste of the Wild bag and they have lots of Veggies and fruits on the ingredient list, Sweet Potatoes, Blueberries and others. The only thing with it is it has a very strong smell. lol

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

as long as the smell doesn't come out the other end.. life is good

:)

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

THat's the problem I think it does! lol My kitty's poopy is rather stinky!
Now that I'm thinking about it, the people at the pet food store did say Purina was one of the lesser evils.. lol They take their pet food very seriously there!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Purina is owned by Nestle.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Chocolate for cats??

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Memory, typically you don't hear of humans getting parasites from the meat they eat, but they don't typically eat it raw, either. Well, maybe steaks and such rare. Or sushi. I do like sushi now and then.

Meredith, poop stinks no matter what you give them.

I like the creative camera angle, and the close-up of the eye's pupil.

Sniff's cute nose looks sort of like a rabbit's in close-up, never noticed that before.
