So sorry, Dave.
So sorry Dave, so they really never found out what the problem was? What kind of history does that pet store have?
Thank you all for your kind thoughts.
The pet store has an excellent record of selling healthy puppies. Daisy was healthy and happy. She was our "Odie" dog - always happy right up until she got sick. She tried to rally when we would visit her in the ICU, but could not beat the infection.
What an awful loss....Daisy was so pretty! Hope Buster is a happy little guy, too, Dave.....it seems to be the breed's wonderful nature.....Memory, hope Wallingford is OK...keep us posted.
Took Wallingford to our regukar vet last night. His injuries are very minor and healing nicely. We couldn't find the big rip the ER Vet wanted to put a drain in and the wound on his tummy she wasn't worried about could have taken a stitch - but would do fine without one. He had a very slight fever - same as when I took him to the ER - 103.5 which is a little above the normal range for a cat (100.5 - 102.5) and since he is drinking lots of water and taking his medicine, she didn't even think he needed fluids. He is still sore and a little stiff but managed to find his way upstairs to sleep with me last night. :)
Our Vet said that this is the time that Vet school graduates get their first internships and that was probably what happened. Thank goodness I had the sense to say "no". I plan to write to the hospital and ask for a refund of part of the $65 to shave a bit of his fur and the other $65 to give him a little saline. And I want to write the Vet and tell her what my Vet said so she would have some reference for the future. She probably is not a "cat person" and certainly didn't understand the difference between a wound and an abbcess.
The bottom line is - I am afraid of Wallingford when he growls. He is only 11 pounds but he has sent me to the doctor for antibiotics for bite wounds. If one of my strays had been beat up - I would have actually looked at the damage and not taken them to emergency at all.
oh how frustrating.. hope he feels better soon Memory
He is almost back to normal already. I just have to put hot compresses on his tummy and he is good at co-operating with that. He just has a temper with me and goes "Jungle" if I cross him. LOL
Sounds like Robs! Glad he's healing nicely, Memory.....
Long ago, my family had a long-haired cat that would tolerate daily brushing---to a limit.
Then, kitty would suddenly go balistic after about 4 minutes.
may you see none of your own blood Memory!!!
I will drink to that, Allison! He is being really good about the whole thing -so far. LOL
:::clink::: :::: clink:::::

Hiding out in my dianthus
Cute :) Until they start nibbling right?
Yeah exactly
Oooooo - so CUTE!
Must have exploded?
sure Auntie Memory.. cover it up!!
:)
Happens at my house on a regular basis - even when I change brands. LOL!
if I had cats.. it would be understandable.. LOL
Love the bunnies! And Hope is a pistol.....even the airedale doesn't do that...well, he would if he thought about it....
don't show him the photo then RD.. might give him ideas
:)
Clean-up is easier if you think of it amusingly as "pets engaging in the creative arts."
(Papier mache optional.)
Those bunnies are adorable but we won't be telling Brian about them. :)
Allison, Hope wouldn't do that!! ;)
oh I see Auntie Celeste is like Auntie Memory.. LOL
Boston - have you seen this? http://www.amazon.com/Why-Cats-Paint-Theory-Aesthetics/dp/0898156122
I don't know if you meant me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless!
I did mean you. When I first bought the book - I thought they were serious! (That doesn't surprise anyone, does it?)
Yes, the cover photo of kitty stroking the painting did indeed look real, and had that "Monet" flavor that I love, but after reading the first reviews, I realized it was a satire!
Had a vet appointment at 2:30 to get Yowmee (one of the grey strays) a rabies shot - this one would be good for 3 years. Gave him some kibble at 1 and did stuff. Going out the front door at 1:45 to get Yowmee, Wallingford ran out and I had to go capture him and get him back in. Then I called and called and no Yowmee. Just as I was about to give up - Meeyow walked out looking sleepy. Well, I picked Meeyow up - which I seldom ever try after getting my face scratched - and took him into the house only to find Sampson firmly entrenched in the cat carrier I had ready to use. I had to dump Sampson out with one hand and stuff Meeyow in with the other - which actually happened to my great surprise. Meeyow has a WILL BITE sticker on his page at the vets, but no one was hurt in the process yesterday. The vet did have to use two vaccines because the first time she gave the vaccine to a mat. I spend all summer, 45 seconds at a time, getting the mats off Meeyow so he can make them again over the winter. I have another appointment Monday night for Yowmee to get his rabies shot. Wish me luck.
Yep, sometimes it's so frustrating with long-hairs, you just want to shave 'em!
Memory, I'm so glad your Wallingford is okay. Looks like you got everything under control there. Sounds like you have a big adventure with the cats yesterday.
Jen, those bunnies wouldn't last in my yard with my guys on patrol.
Karen
you are an amazing mom Memory
Or a crazy cat lady.
No....you are taking care of animals that wouldn't have made it....that's special! I'm very mad a t Robs...what's new...I have walked him for 8 years, & he's never picked up an acorn....he's picked up 2 in 2 days....yesterday he ate it...today, he did spit it out....but I keep thinking of Louise's horror story.....
Her dogs are much smaller than Robs. Acorns taste really bad because of the tannins - they have to be cooked to death to be eaten. I doubt that Robs will really eat another one.
Umm - how do I know they taste really bad? Well, in my defense, all the history books in Elementary School said that the Native Americans ate them. . . I just forgot about the cooking them first part.
