Dianne, when I do my turnip I add butter/brown sugar and carrots...add that to mashed potatoes, gravy and turkey with dressing, lordy, now you've gone and made me hungry..time to leave for the day..Sharon didn't get back to me so meeting up I would assume is not going to happen..
Best/worse/what did I learn today!!Visit with friends-chat
Quite an evening, amazing what comes out of changed plans..got home and found that Cathy had dropped in and did 2 lovely arrangements od daisies...gave her a call to say thank you..while gabbing I mentioned I was at a standstill with pond because of the plastic runner..wasn't sure I should get the saws-all and remove..not 5 minutes later she and her dad dropped in..no problem taking it out..her dad is a lovely man, can barely walk and was going to climb inside my dug hole to do it for me..told him I could manage but I'd appreciate their waiting until I did it, saws-all is powerful and wasn't sure how it would cut through heavy plastic, wouldn't want it to jam, or get caught and off would come a leg or an arm..out it came without a hitch..last game tonight for hockey so they were anxious to get home as to not miss any of the game!!
Mosquitos getting thick so called it a night..this afternoon my friend Dianne called to say as she was moving she found a lot of acrylic and oil paints and craft materials and had come oner this morning and setmthem in my craft room...so as I came in I went to the craft room to check things out..omg/double omg..sure wish I knew someone who would want paints...turntable unit that holds about 100 bottles..yikes just what I didn't need..will have to get the draftees over and see what they might bring home then big object pick up is next week so garbage it shall go!
Feel grubby with working on the pond so bath time for me, soak my little toe then call it a night..
I'll be back early am to read up on the night shift!
Betty - turnips are stronger tasting, and rutabagas are lighter tasting. Turnips are purple, smaller cousins of the rutabagas - and the rutabaga is yellow and larger. Turnips are usually waxed for winter storage. Dunno what they do for rutabagas!
Hello to All !
Oh DEBBIE! ((HUGS)) For you and Shannon and I am SO glad it is... if not "good" then the "best possible" news... bless you both for all you are going through. This has just been such a tough time...
Susan - THANK YOU! !!! Hmmm... LK sent over directions for raising Rhubarb in the South. I wouldn't have room in the back yard for it... but I have a side area... but .... no.... maybe next year.
Now I think of it... I'm still sad that I haven't planted all my swap plants yet. These that are left are supposed to get HUGE... and I've got to find places to plant. I don't have as much room as many of you.... wish I did...
Betty - LOVE Disney... please post some of your Epcot pics. I'd always heard that the Canada Restaurant was the BEST place to eat at Disney... tried it May 2010 and I LOVED it... but there is a lot of debate on the disboards on that. So wondering what your thoughts of Canada are.... Please send a pic of your garden !
That poor turtle... but again ... you are reminding me of my Mom, Betty..... she would pull over rednecks in trucks ... all 5 foot 2 inches ... if she thought their dogs were unsafe in the back of a truck. said she had seen too many get tossed out and run over... and she would stand up to folks for them..... Love that about you both....
Crissy - companies do seem to favor young folks... why did it not seem that way when we were young ? I have 2 friends who were let go at a competitor recently. They are suing the company for age discrimination. All 3 laid off were the oldest employee's.
LK - so good to hear what you said about the young'uns.... You are right... they need to learn how hard it is out there....
Dianne - YUM... Thanks for the pie !
I'll pop back in a bit...
HUGS
Mary
too bad you don't have rhubarb in your supermarkets, Mary!
Yup Susan ! And I've never seen in a Farmers market as well... Question.. is it like Tomatoes where it is just so much better if you grow it yourself ?
LOL Mary! I have never met a piece of rhubarb I didn't like!!! Sometimes I just pick one off of the plant and snack on it. Tart but lovely...... I think Debbie does this too.
I worked for awhile in an IGA out here in Verona - my DH suggested I get out more 'cause I was talking to the trees. Anyway we are a tourist hamlet and get lots of American visitors be they campers or cottagers. The Americans would always ask about rhubarb for sale in the store but we never did sell it. Flippantly 1 day I said to a lady "we have lots at home" and she asked if she could have some - I called DH to go and pick some and the lady found her way down to our house. She wanted to pay DH and he was like "hell I thought we were going to have to pay people to take some" so of course he didn't expect money. Even though I am not at the store this lady calls every year to see if she can come and get rhubarb - last year she brought friends which was great because we had a bumper crop. Rhubarb here Mary grows like weeds, I don't do anything special to them and of course the plants love the rain.
For those of you that read I finished 2 books this week by an author new to me. Her name is Diane Chamberlain and I will certainly look for more of her books. I bought these 2 at WallyWorld. In both books there was a moral dilemma plus an unexpected twist at the end - both very good reads.
OK going to go read I am reading a book about Chicago's World Fair. Very interesting!
Dianne
How interesting Dianne ! I can't think of any productive veggie or fruit that "grows like weeds" here... I mean we do have a LOT of tomatoes... but we do have to nurse those along... water when it's dry , etc.
I'll have to save that Author's name in Amazon! This is funny... have you done this?
I felt foolish that all my favorite books (GREAT as they ALL ARE) Have been Young Adult books... so remembered an adult author I loved and searched on Amazon for a new book. (Nicholas Evans) So found a book and bought it... it came in the other day and I'm reading it now. The funny thing is NOW I do remember .... I 've read it already ! LOL.....
Susan offered to send me some Rhubarb to plant... and I WOULD love to plant some one day soon. But I feel I should try some ... come visit up north and eat some first... LOL......
I also have SO many HUGE plants (they are tiny but get huge) that I need to find homes for. Like the Lady Banks Rose and Candlestick plant...
Hugs,
Mary
PS: My Rum Runner Hibiscus cuttings are still alive... so far... so good... (HUGS)
Yep Mary ya need to come north and try some rhubarb!! Can't think of a better reason to make that trip to Ontario - Betty and I will be very glad to see you.
Can't sleep - going to try some Baileys and see if that will help. Want some Mary??
Dianne
I can't sleep either - my DH got me out of bed to tell me that our internet was down.
like he couldn't call the provider and get help? no..............
So, here I sit at the computer - problem fixed, but now I can't get to sleep. Feel so tired, I'm flushed, but..........
Don't ya just hate that Susan? My DH does that all the time. I have such trouble sleeping that once I get there I like to stay there for a bit. Used to make me feel needed now it just down right annoys me.
Morning everyone. Coffee is ready and a warm Rhubarb Pudding Cake is there for the taking.
Make sure you do something nice for yourself today everyone!!
Dianne
Morning, thanks for the coffee and rhubbarb cake Dianne, tummy was hungry..dawned on me, worked outside and didn't have supper so it's much appreciated..nothing like homemade morning treats..
Riley was missing 1 week and there at my door this morning she was sitting..often goes missing weekends and few weeks here and there during the summer..I'm thinking cottagers take her in, maybe they were on vacation! Lol
All this talk of rhubbarb is reminding me I need to do some rhubbarb leaves if I soon don't get to it rhubbarb season will be over.
Dianne are you off to the doctors this morning for Dh,s results? Most likely that is why you couldn't sleep..worry..we'll be waiting anxiously for update..in the meantime we'll say prayers...
Barb, how's the eye..are you busy sewing up a storm for the week you missed out..
Laura, every Thursday I start thinking of you packing up for yet another weekend of fun..where is the next camp ground
Wonder how Elf is doing with her move, bet she!s missing those grandchildren
Mary I will post photo's of the gardens, still not a lot of flowers blooming but sooo much greenery..one corner is a bit of a mess but am sure once the pond is running and edge done I'll feel better about the project.
How's the weather in your neighbourhood? Watching Breakfast Television and we'll have overcast day but a sunshine weekend.
Any special plans for Fathers day??
I think of Ann and Shirley, difficult time
Shirley, I'd you are lurking, know we miss you
Judy, she must be out in her gardens
Yesterday I went to garden gallery, was laughing to myself this morning, must go back at lunch to check out the hanging baskets , sign that I am questioning said $39.99 each or 2 for $79'98. Lol. what kind of deal is that??
Well better I get a move on..
Good morning everyone. Coffee and waffles are ready....
Betty, I'm really trying hard not to gloat over the Bruins win but my son wanted this soooooo bad!!!! I can't get over the fans destruction in Vancouver!!!! What gets into them????
Still not really sewing yet. These glasses are driving me crazy but it will all change next week. I have no lens in the left side now but need to wear the glasses for the lens in the right side. Next Wed I'll get that eye done. So basically, June has been a washout as far as handwork and sewing are considered.
Sean's team are playing the playoff games now. It is a double elimination series and so far they have won their first two games. Game three is tonight. And then he has been picked for the All Star team too so he will go on for that series next. He is quite the pistol and is just so loving it.
Dianne, I'm tasting that strawberry/rhubarb as we speak. It is my favorite. I also like to take a rhubarb sauce and put it over vanilla ice cream. Yummy!!! I'm so looking forward to Aug.
Norm's calling for some help with something so I'm off for now. Will try to chat later after errands...
Mary it's called out with the old and in with the new, they didn't do that when we were young, when you got a job you retired from that job some 30 years later and 50 years old. Dave just turned 50 not a month ago and he's having fits how it's not fair that my mom and dad both retired when they were 50 and how he doesn't get to, but he's always worked in the private sector in Manufacturing and my parents both worked for the City, big difference. He's also angry because he doesn't get to draw social security until he's 67 and here I am 12 years younger than him, guess what I'll get to draw... Nothing and he's throws a fit at me about it.
LOL Dianne and Susan! If Dave woke me up to tell me that the internet was down I'd kick him, I think he knows it too.
Betty I love your Peonys! Gorgeous!!!
Have a good day Barb! Bet you are looking forward to next week and getting that other eye fixed so you won't be lopsided!
LOOK at what I saw out the living room window this morning!
Crissy, that is so pretty! Is it a hibiscus?
Beautiful Crissy, guess we don't realize just how quickly we become to retirement..didn't seem 1/2 has important 20 years ago! Some good comes from working with the gmt. I was just over the 50 mark when I took my Municipal OMERS pension, seemed they had more $$$ than they knew what to do with so they opened a small retirement window for any of us who wished to take advantage of it..was sooo undecided to do so but am thrilled I did..
Barb, maybe Dianne will get you the rhubbarb sauce and ice-cream when you get together.
Looking at the calendar and trying to figure out about Judy's gathering..now that Paul has us moving that 1st week even though we have it a week or so before not sure how it will go, have to re-organize a whole new set-up of 4 offices..lots of employees working from home so might not be able to have the extra 2 or 3 days I'd asked for...wouldn't make me happy!!!
Crissy, I think it's the worm doing it, have some in my orange blossom tree and lordy it's hard to believe such a little creature (of course there are many) can eat so much..got to squish them..yukky, don't do it..usually put them in a jar and throw away in the garbage..I've sprayed but still they survive..
Wow, hard to believe it is the same flower!
I just did some research and the blooms are supposed to be dinner plate sized and round, they need to be deep watered, which it hasn't been, and they don't do good in wind at all and it's been very windy here this year, of course that doesn't speak for the other two hibiscus that are doing the same thing.
Barb, about the Bruins winning lol do you know that seeing as most were Canadian that the trophy will spend more time in Canada than the USA..thought your son would like to know!!!
Congratulations to Sean, quite the athlete you have there..isn't it grand to watch them..let's hope his team wins tonight!
Good morning, Good Morning...
Sorry to be gone all week, been another crazy one.
Kids are home, so it's off to the races each day, lolol.
It's been raining just about every day too, finally stopped although we may get another down pour before day is out!
Trying to work in the gardens keeping those darned weeds out, not easy with all the rain.
For last 2 days I've had a bad headache and it's trying to worm it's way back in today, yuk...
Sooo, Alissa has found a job, again!! She will be doing Home health care, Elderly companion...My MIL just raves about her care, so I know she will be wonderful at it.
Julia is back at school, taking Chemistry and continues to work...This is because she can't afford the "rent" lol.
But, really she just wanted to take a short break, now ready to tackle another course, her spare time she is studying.
Anthony and Alissa both have learned a very HARD lesson, so they have worked things out.
It has to do with the cashing of a check...turned out it was counterfeit!! It was one of those Money working scams.
Well they happened to fall into the trap and now dealing with that. We keep telling him that the bank should not have cashed it.
They withheld it for a day and yet cashed it, so really it isn't his fault. Really put a strain on their friendship for a few days, but as said, they are working things out.
It seems, We have a stow away!! LOL, One of Breenie's friends has taken up residence in Johnny's old room! I am afraid, I have to tell him it's time to go home...(not afraid, as in scared, just time to go) I don't mind the kid visiting, and he does but, now he's just around, waiting for Breenie. While he waits he is on my computer playing games, lol Maybe I will put him to work! Last night I "Made" him eat!
Oh my gosh, and Breenie!! She practically lives at the boyfriends...ok, well she says she cleans the house, while they are at work for letting her stay and eat there...H E L L O, can't even get her to put her dishes in the sink here...So, we had a rather nice talk, well I talked and she had better have listened, lol. Well she must have because I saw she was looking for a job on the internet.
She also went and registered for classes to begin in August...wowah, three classes, her hands will be very busy in the fall, I say yippeee!
She's asked me several times for money, nope...no money, bank is closed!! get a job and you'll have money...And I am just about ready to take car keys away...Vehicles run on gas and sh'es gone through a lot, since she has been driving and doesn't contribute, so end of her driving my vehicle until she can help put gas in the tank!
Jacob, has taken the week off!! Good for him, I've not seen him to sleep in since he started HS. He does go in to work out, but not at the crack of dawn. LOL, he considers 8 AM sleeping in!! I guess it is as he was awaking at 5:30 during school...He's gearing up to start the camps, football and Wrestling, starting soon...Meantime, he is enjoying being a kid, goes to play his Frisbee, basketball at the park and hanging out with his buddies...
Anthony, busy at work...but when he is up, helps keep the place picked up from the night shift! Also, he and Jake keep up with the lawn cutting...Pretty soon I think he will be helping Steve and crew with this Huge Job, this will also help him with a little extra cash.
And Steve...What can i say, He has gone non stop working...Goes for a bike ride whenever possible, and he has kept me quite busy with paperwork, little projects around the house. We, both have been busy with rentals on the house, lots of calls and it getting booked up pretty quick. And then there's the house around the corner! Yikes Cuz does these drop bys, which is not always good, we have to stop and discuss the house, all which moves around daily living. We've asked that he call first, but he just doesn't. He will help himself to food &drink in the fridge, the kids snack and poke around and read business stuff!! last night, he came and sat at Steve's spot poking through files!! OK, now this has to stop, I walked over and took the papers from in front of him and literally shuffled everything in a pile and covered it...I didn't have to say how aggetating that was, i am sure my action wasn't at all nice! It's just Rude.
So, this week, i actually got a load of things done! laundry, laundry and more!! Got tools at least put down stairs, regular house chores and some running around. Manages to work on my RWB swap and even got in a bit of sewing! Not to mention all the paperwork, My days start at 5:30---Non, stop and i fall to my pillow at 9:30-10. I haven't even been able to stay awake for the kids, but at least i get to see them during the day. Steve doesn't get to see them until the weekend...
This weekend we will be going to the house for Fathers day! Steve will get to launch the boat, he is so excited about that! Plus all the kids, with exception of Alissa will be there..
Well my Peace and Quite has come to an end, not only must I endure that one song, thats got to be played at the highest volume, i get to hear my neighbor squeal at the top of her voice what a good puppy (5years old) has made a poop!! Good heavens! their back, lol, they were on vacation for 3 weeks! I knew they were back the minute I heard through closed windows and high volume music, YIKES!!
Dojn't get me wrong, I love birdie, and i commend her all the time, but really does the whole entire neighborhood have to hear, what a good bird she is for not pooping on my shoulder??
So, today...Finishing up some paper,(wish me luck, it creating this insane schedule, for the ginormous upcoming job!) LOL, still scratching my head over it, but I think I get the jist... finishing up my sewing project and hopefully yanking some weeds. Believe it or not, still have to work the front gardens...OMG, talk about a jungle!! pretty, soon some one will complain and the village will be citing me.
Betty, Oh my goodness, so sorry to hear of your little toe!! Sure hope it heals pretty quick. Wow, very cool you will be working from home for a couple days?? I hope that works well to your favor. Awe, look at your gardens coming to life! Very pretty...OMG, you are just one energizing Bunny, That new waterfall pond is going to be awesome!! So sorry to hear of your sisters dd. Nope, All activity would stop for such behavior...
OH Linda Kay!! So sorry to have missed your birthday!! I hope it was a lovely day...And i am wishing you a Happy Wonderful year, healthy too...was also glad to see your fingers are on the mend with a little more mobility.
Debbie, goodness girl!! Giant loveable arm wraps to you and Shannon. What a relief you must be feeling to know that cancer is not in the picture!! Some answered prayers there for sure. Now that they have discovered what it is, i sure will be praying the meds take effect immediately. Wow, you are one busy lady, hats off to you for keeping up all the crazy running...Awe, Shane looked mighty handsome for prom!! Bummer about the suit, but at least he was able to get dressed up and go have fun!
Dianne, Oh yumm, all your cooking has my taste buds jump just from reading!! I almost want to start growing rhubarb! lol. Seriously, sorry to see you're having headaches. I am glad you and your onc. will hopefully figure out a solution. Glad to see you've gotten to read, the books sound very good. Will have to check them out...
Mary, Got my bathing suit, always handy, would love to come and take a dive between strolling your gardens!
Oh and yep i'ld love to go to Disney, been a very long time!
Barb!! So nice to chat the other night...Hey didn't you show me this tool for folding? Going to check out some things at joAnnes later today...Want to give the paper piecing a whirl, with what you showed me...So, glad your eye is healing! Woohoo, pretty soon you'll see with both eyes, just make sure you heal as the doc says...Then you'll be right back to your projects with a renewed joy of it!
Crissy, lol so glad your toothbrush made it's way home!! Bet your smile is as dazzling as ever.
You've come a long way Crissy, on your own and you have every right to be proud of you and your Dave!!
i am not saying your not, but i hope that you don't let what your mom thinks drive you in any other way but where you want to go.
I do not say this just to say, I always speak of my own personal experience and mine mirrors yours...lol other way around since i'm older then you...
I started life out, Completely on my own at age 18, really about age 16 when I started working. But, i chose to leave the life that was holding me down. I left the home as soon as i was 18, signed myself out of the Ward of the State. Knowing all i wanted to do was finish HS at the HS I started at. Saved every last penny to pay my tuition and my books which was well over 1500 dollars. ...My last year of HS, I worked 2 jobs and went to school and I had my own apartment, with actual bills to pay. When i walked away from the state's care I only had what i was wearing on my back and a footlocker with the few personal items I owned, which i totally sneaked out of the house, piece by piece... My first real big purchase on my own was my Honda Passport, which I paid for in full in cash, best thing i ever bought! I was able to get around. I met Steve through a friend, for me, it was love at first sight! He too worked at very young age...MIL hated me!! But it didn't bother me until we had kids, then she really hated me!! it wasn't until About 5 years ago, when Julia was in grave depression, that she finally found that i don't give up and i am not the drunk she has always labled me for...Of course i had a severe discussion with her and we were at least sociable for Steve and the kids. But, she did put a major emotional trip on me for more then half our marriage! To this day after 26 years of marriage, i still don't call her mom, in fact i really don't call her anything, just say hi and start talking...Well, and for my honey, poor guy, had the whole tribe to earn over. Well, my family was no different then his, He is very outspoken and very to the point, lol complete opposite of me, so it took many years for them to "like" Steve...But It's because of a love so strong, we endured all and stayed clear of those that hurt us!
LOL, Moral of my story, LOVE your man, no matter what mom says. She didn't marry him, you did...And i see that you do, so just hold on to that and you and Daves dreams will always become reality... As we tell our kids, Relationships take a load hard work together.
Ohh, and I must say, because it's true...I had a great deal of people say they thought i'd be in the gutter, isn't that nice!
LOL, if this is my gutter...Well geeze I sure love it and lol, sure wish my kids would take a broom to it!! Hahah, their not bored enough.
OMG...Thank you for reading all of this! MY gosh look at the time, Got to scoot, lolol...weeds are growing by the inch!
OH and Yessirree!! Can't wait to meet up with Thunder. Just a few short weeks away. We were able to chat this past weekend. Was wonderful!...and i got to meet Levi, her Maccaw! Did you know Thunder has 2 birds, not sure I did, was cool!
Ok really got to run, heheh, dryers been beeping a while!
be back in a bit i hope.
have a great day!
OH Yeah, Betty, That lady who ran over the turtle out to get arrested!! I was really PO'd too, glad you blasted her with a verbal slap!
Goodness Judy, I think you need a few more things to keep you busy!!! LOL! Wow. You have been through so much! And that neighbor of yours, that just comes in, helps himself to snacks and personal stuff. I would not allow that! I would put my foot down, and tell him, this is not his house, that he will call ahead of time, and knock on the door when he arrives!
Hope your headaches go away soon! You may have stress headaches. Take time for yourself, go take a hot bath or something?
Wow Judy girl..lol..when you post you really post..
No wonder you haven't been posting with so much going on, shaking my head here, you are quite the gal...
MIL to this day isn't fond of me either..on Friday night at the wedding when I tried to talk to her and she turned her head, takes all she can do to say 'hi' I decided that no more, nada, will not being trying to win her over....if I haven't already done so it will not happen! It's so funny, don't you find the ones who no interest in you is the one you most try to impress??? got better things to do with my life...in fact on Monday when Suzanne and I were having lunch I told her exactly that..picked a good time because she's having difficulties with her mom as well..lol - goodness, when I was 17 and married Roger he was 21..legal age to drink, at that time she enjoyed a drink..she would try to get Roger to join their group, I could stay at home as I was just a child..soon put a stop to that but not without a fight..then the last days of Roger's life that about ended any chance of even a kind word.. NOW Judy you have me wound up..lol..tell your MIL I think you and Steve are made for each other...get her blood boiling...heehee
Entire house full of teens, you just have to be an Angel to put up with it!!! Hard time for them, long summer for you..hopefully it will go quickly and all will be in a routine..
So you won't get many weekends/weeks up at the house on the lake? Nice to have the $$ but would have been so nice for you to spend the entire summer at..
Lunch time, Suzanne is all worked up over changes at the office so I told her I'd buy her a drink at lunch..joking of course, but she sure could use one!!!
Tonight I meet Dianne for supper then homeward bound..at least I will be after I go purchase a tombstone wreath at Michael's for Roger's grave and do the Garden Gallery for a few 'treasures'
Well, this morning I went to Bible Study, and it ended up not at all what our study was about, BUT we had quite the talk!
It was supposed to be about sacrifice in olden times, and how we view it now-a-days.
Ended up being a crying jag by one of our 30-somethings and how she never knew her father (or his last name) so was not able to find him. She went to a friend's wedding once, and she had FOUR fathers to do the father/daughter dance with. This traumatized our friend so much that she could not join in her friend's joy that day.
All the rest of us are 50+ and 4 of the 5 of us have had "adoption/not knowing father/birth mother" stories of our own, and I said "although you don't know when or what will be your epiphany, at some time you will be able to get through all this hurt you're feeling and give it over to The Lord". She seems to feel the rest of us have our "closure" but that's her view, as she's feeling so much pain/anger over the lack of father in her life.
Anyway - we hope she cleansed that wound of hers a little more......
How lucky she was to have all of you to hear her story...Lord must have put you all together for this purpose. Earthly Angels I call you..
Dianne is here, we'll do supper, Garden Gallery and Michaels for the wreath..would rather be enjoying this sunshine but got to do what you got to do..5 more minutes and off I go!!
She'd told this story before, in spits and spurts, to most of us separately, and she thought she was past the hurt, but apparently not. She is angry her mother never asked his last name, so she's not able to do a proper search for him......
Apparently he was a married man and she was told is would "hurt his family" which means she has some siblings she hasn't met either. All-in-all, she is not prepared yet to let it go.
I wish she would, because it "victimizes" her, and she needs to "move on" with her life, but it's not for us to say when the hurt ends and healing begins - she's the only one to decide that.
After all, my father passed away almost 30 years ago, and I'm still grieving. There is no set time to end the hurt/grieving for her either.
Susan that's a tough one, sounds like his family doesn't know about her and her mom at all. She definitely needs to move on, there are thousands of people who don't know who one parent is for some reason or another. Shoot, my mom was married to my dad and he was gone so much I didn't know him, my mom was pretty much a single parent, especially when my dad started spending all of his paychecks and half of hers!
yes, it's tough, but she has no way of knowing which city or even country he's in, because she doesn't know his last name. And believe me - she won't let go of this hurt for a long, long, long time. She takes "hurt" and holds it deep within herself. In no way am I saying she's ready to "let go" but it sure would be nice to see her feeling better about herself and "letting go". I can't see where she's doing herself any favours......
I was basically a "single mom" when my ex was gone trucking all the time. He'd be gone for up to 6 weeks at a time, and sometimes only home for 1/2 hr before he was gone again.
A need to know who she is!! Shell likely be caught in this hurting cycle for the rest of her days! My DIL was adopted, found her parents about 15 years ago..as teens her bio parents broke up.. her bio dad came from a large family,18 siblings I believe and her bio mom from a large family as well.. They paid for Melanie's keep for 6 months until they made their decision. Melanie was adopted by her foster parents, christian and loving yet still the need to find out who she always stayed with her! When they were located she found out that they went to university, got back together, married, adopted a child, little girl, in hopes to give the child a life they hoped some family gave their daughter..very emotional, answered many of her questions and even after all this time I believe she still hurts.
Lovely supper, great seeing Dianne...went to garden gallery and got more supplies for the pond then decided to go get a tombstone wreath,,,yikes, celebrating Father's Day with the dead is more costly than when they were living..Roger and my dad would say, what a waste!!
Too late to start anything at this time of night so might do soak in the tub..see that Cathy was here today..grass all cut,,lordy I'm lucky to have. Such energetic friends!
Hope you've all enjoyed your day
Susan that's so difficult, my dad was gone to a local bar and would come home at 3am and leave for work at 5am and wouldn't come back home until 3am to leave at 5am. On weekends he would have breakfast with us and he was gone again, always had 'a few things to do.' He wouldn't come home until 2 or 3am again. Sad my mom put up with that for so many years, and sad his current girlfriend is putting up with it now, I'd kick him to the curb, no man is worth that stress.
Glad you're having a wonderful evening Betty!
yes Betty - adoption/missed parents, is a very emotional issue, and I'm in the "loop" of this, too.
Hello to All !
Wow - bless all those who had adoptive parents and fosters... seems as though it still causes pain even when you have folks who try to step in there. I know it hurts when DS gets upset about his absent father... although I always tell him I've loved him enough for 2 parents... it is still not "the same".....
Ha ! Dianne - seems I've tried Baileys before...perhaps in coffee? it's been a long time... yes it would be Great to head up to "Oh Canada" ! wish I could negotiate some 'extra' time off....
Susan - can't believe hubs would wake you up to fix the internet ! LOL
Betty -your garden is so beautiful and Green ! It's hard to believe its so green like it all pops up at once... seems mine wakes up more slowly... I don't recognize any plants ... I suppose that's just the difference in zones....
Waving to Barb... Be so nice when 'both' eyes are finished ! Do you miss the sewing ? or are you finding other things to catch up on ?
Crissy - LOVE your Kopper King! We have a Texas Star Hibby... looks kind of like that ... also have an "all pink" hardy hibiscus and wondering if it's the same... it looks like yours 'used' to... Shirley has sent me a ton of seeds... I should forward some to you all... wish I could plant them all but I only have room to try a few....
Judy - bless you Sis ! usually we have the same issues to deal with but I must say without the girls here... the week has been so quiet and the house clean. Unfortunately work has been stressful but that is over... work tomorrow then hoping to treat DS and his Girlfriend to dinner... whether I cook it here or we go out....
Judy ... now that I've learned more about your teen years... I have another book to send you ! But I will wait until you finish the one Thunder's bringing you.... so let me know when that is. I feel you will love this one too....
I'll pop back in a bit... ((HUGS)) TGIF- tomorrow !!!!!!!!
Mary
