Morning, sunshine day in my neighborhood and I'm thrilled that it is, I'm full of energy this morning, imagine I slept in till 6:30a.m.
Grabbed a coffee (thanks Laura) and my camera and walked in the gardens..lots to do, still 2 gardens not weeded and 6 not edged..yikes and here I thought I was ahead of the game.
Mary, know exactly where you are coming from, my boys weren't the least impressed that Bill would let Bonnie treat me as she did. Not having respect for an individual something can never be reversed, those feelings stay forever..add that to your son having issues over dad ???? well some of it must be reflected in his every day life..
Sorry for you all having such hot weather, can't imagine waiting all winter so you can play and enjoy the gardens to have this happen..upsetting to say the least.
Here's my digging, about 2 1/2 ft. deep.. now to level which is the first thing on my morning agenda
Best/worse/what did I learn today!!Visit with friends-chat
At some point I'll have to bath, dress up and head to the graveyards in Penetang and Midland to put flowers for dad, grandpa and uncles, waiting to hear from Sharon if she'll be coming up or not...
I'll go with Greg to Roger's grave in the morning..we'll get it cleaned, plant hung and wreath set..always a gabby time as we sit and let him know how our year has gone...
Love the purples
Love the purples too. That is a lovely arrangement. My hostas look like yours!! I can't do any bending for both the eyes and the breathing so it looks like they will fend for themselves until the boys are done with school and baseball. They ususally come over and do Grammy's weeding a few times each summer. Other that that, it won't get done. Norm edges in the spring and spreads a bit of mulch and that's it. Although he did plant a few plants for me this year and is great about watering. I think it's because of his tomato!!!!
Sean has two ball games today and tomorrow. The day games at 1pm are for his regular team's playoffs here in Hillsboro and then he plays again at 7pm for the all-star team in Manchester which is 45 miles away!!! So I guess we will be "On the Road Again"!!!! Glad I got the laundry done yesterday.....
Off to play in the sewing room for a while.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.....
Morning everyone! Betty, looks like your off and running again! Love the purple and white wreath, very pretty. Are those real flowers, or silk flowers? Hard to believe how much flowers cost in Canada!
Laura, nice to see you posting. I have tried to sew, but it goes pretty slow with this darn finger. I am slowly getting some mobility back, but can't seem to bend it enough to work with the fabric very much. It gets pretty sore after awhile.
Barb, your eyes must be doing pretty good if your trying to sew? Don't over do it! Good luck to Sean for his games today!
Best od luck to Sean, barb..you'll likely not have a voice once the two games are over...my boys aren't baseball players probably because they go to camp all summer...Norm is a dear to help you with the watering and edging..big commitment this gardening..I'd best get all mine looking grand as I've royalty comi g in august....don't overdo with the sewing, eye needs to heal
LindaKay, they are artificial, if they were real they wouldn't survive thecare they'd get at the cemetery! I've bushes each side of the tombstone, not sure they've survived the winter, guess I'll soon find out..the other 3 cemeteries I'll visit today you cannot have any type of decoration/plants/shrubs,,they allow you to set flowers and they leave them for 4 days then all are removed so it's an arrangement of live flowers for those locations!!
Sharon called, we'll meet up this afternoon around 2:00 and do the cemetery visits, then go out to eat, exchange Xmas and birthday gifts and both head home afterwards..that will about finish today.
LindaKay, you must be starting to be overwhelmed that all you sewing projects aren't getting done..drats that has been more than 3 months hasn't it? Must be more that they didn't find in the x- rays? I could do some blocks for you, another two weekends all will be done in the yard and I'll be searching for projects
Now ready to get out of my nighty, everything dusted, floors washed, all tidy NOW I can go play..
I do have projects to do, but they are slowly getting done. I hope everyone understands that the blocks will be late, but I am not lone, several have not made theirs yet! Yes, it has been 3 months already, but it is getting there, just slowly!
Still can't believe how much your flowers cost. A wreath like that would cost maybe $30.00 - $40.00 here!
I haven't made mine yet either Linda. I have my fabrics ready but I'm waiting until I'm really comfortable again at the machine.
FYI our post office told Norm today that they are not accepting any mail to Canada until things are settled as they don't have storage space for all of it...
Sean's 1pm game has been cancelled due to a soaked field. That makes for dangerous play. A bit of a break for him - I'm glad. At 10 years old, I worry about them playing double-headers!!!! Still no word on the other one - I don't think the rain was supposed to get that far so it may still be on. We shall wait and see.......
Morning!
Well, I'm gonna have my last cup of coffee and then go and get dressed. I'll clean the house since we had storms all night and now have water all around us. The sump pump has not kicked on yet, so that's good. I will go out later and see what damage I can do out there. I will try to pull weeds in the flower bed that I am making into a memorial garden. I probably won't be able to mow till tomorrow. We aren't to get more rain till later or tomorrow evening.
I only work part time. I will start to look for a new job some place where I can get insurance. Everything happens for a reason, so may it's time to move on. The only full time job they have open is if I go back on the floor doing patient care also and I can't do that with my shoulder and knee. I will make the best of the situation. I may go to a grief support group if I can. I know things will get better in time. I think things just caught up with me, and I really hadn't had the time to cry while everyone was here. I know that with God's help He will guide me through.
I'm sorry to read all the sadness in everyone elses lives and wish and prayer for the best for them. I do hope you all have a great day and will stop back in later and try to check up on everyone. I know you all are just a keyboard away and I thank you for that. Please take care my friends and God Bless you all.
Shirley
Oh Shirley, so happy to see you this morning....you certainly cheered me up. I am so sorry you are going thru all this....but with that dear Tubby, it was to be expected....as he was a gift to all of us and is very much missed! I can't even imagine what you are going thru. I do know that Hospice has a GREAT support group. They helped me with my Moms passing. They even have "events" to celebrate your loved one (butterfly release/ memorial gardens) and tea/coffee group. I highly recommend it.
I have actually be out working in my memorial garden. It is the "anniversary weekend" of my Moms passing. She died the Friday before Fathers Day (last night) but the anniversary day is June 20. Just can't believe it has been 3 years....find myself getting mad at her lately. Suppose that is a stage also.
Ok, I have to get back outside. DH is cleaning up his motorcycle to put it up for sale. We are just up against a wall, and he finally had an eye opener....hope it sells!
Be back in a bit.....have had a few funny incidents to tell you. If you want to read about it before hand...go to the How Was Your Day thread....and read about Daisy yesterday! OMG!
Miss you all....I am Ok, just cleaning gardens the last four days!
Debbie
Dropping in for a quick hello, will respond to all your post when I finally settle in tonight..
Just got started, tarp was wayyyy to big for the hole I dug..yuk..started digging more, here I thought I was on easy street..ran across a problem..big gigantic boulder, wouldn't you know..Cathy's dad who is 82 and Noah 14 came along just in time..and Cathy, I'm sure she'll give up visiting, I always put her to work...
Betty - I always think of work as therapy, and working in the garden more so! I wish I were Cathy & I'd visit you ALL the time ^_^
Shirley - bless you - go to the Hospice and get counseling - it can't do anything but good. Post pics of the memorial garden, please. Would love to see it during its many phases!
I have a question for all the knitters here - I got a bunch of "stuff" from my cousin yesterday, and part of it was 9 balls of "yarn" and I'm not sure what to make with it (a piece of clothing perhaps?) but here's the pic of the "yarn". "unknown fabric" it says, but feels like silk. I've never seen anything like it..... I really love the texture, and the colour, but the "thread" portion of it at the top of this pic looks like heavy thread and would be the only thing holding it together. btw - I Do Not crochet - it would have to be knitted.
Any suggestions?
Susan, I do not knit or crochet or anything but make a mess....but that yarn is used for some very popular scarfs up here. They couldn't keep them on the shelf. The teenagers loved them especially! SOOOO soft!
Will see if I can find a picture for you.
ok - could make a scarf easily enough, but it's a perfect colour I thought, for a top...... Do so wish I could find a pattern for a top that would "take" this yarn.
"up here" LOL I'm a little further "up here" than NY - being as how I'm in Canada LOL
thanks for the help from "down there" Debbie lol
ROFL, sorry about that! I am doing better with direction....took a long time to get past my "down here" from Florida!

LOL s'ok, I realize I'm pretty "odd person out" here, even though there are a few Canucks in this room - I'm not only Canada, but Western Canada, and there are a few Calgarians here, but those are percentage-wise very few.
hmmm looked at the link, Debbie, and the "Blue Muppet" looks like it's made of the same fabric, but the others almost look like boucle yarn.
It would be nice to find a top made of my fabric yarn. I'd be able to wear it any time of year, and not just wintertime.
Will keep searching - thanks so much for the link! It gives me a start.

A few examples of a sweater with the yarn.
Those are cute! I saw this one also....looks like a "finer" eyelash yarn, but cute!

Love the sweater..Susan, it is fashionable, you wouldn't need that many stitches on the needle...quick, quick, winter is coming..you'd never know it today, talk about hot!
Did the graveyards, one more to do, Roger's..that will get done tomorrow morning early..had lovely lunch with Sharon, she had to get back, Nikki needed a drive to the theatre and of course I had lots to do..
Almost ready to relax, purchased some flagstone for the falls, not enough because I couldn't deal with larger pieces nor could my poor little car!!
Couch looks inviting so before I do nothing I'd best get a move on...
Waving to all, will gab when I'm in for the evening!
Still could have gone another 3', where where you girls, shovels were waiting???
anyway, the flagstone I picked up in town helped put a plan together..a couple of trips tomorrow and I should be ok..
Next weekend when Greg isn't as busy I'll get him to go pick up enough to overlap top of ground to slightly over the edge, that way the kitties can have a drink...
do love the sound over the rocks though..going to go unplug it , have a bath and on the couch I'll be with a bowl of freshly picked strawberries and a book...
Body is telling me I've had enough..
Betty, that is so pretty already! How big is it?
Still a lot of work, lots of slate carrying ..the tarp was 14' x 14'..of coure you have to leave the edging so cut off maybe 3 or 4 feet..I'll be searching for rocks now. Lol..the large pond with the spray water featur is about double the size and 4' deep in the center..
Dinghy, filled the tub with boiling wTer and now I have to let it cool...
Linda Kay thought of you today, went into a nursery and you could see everything was wilted beacaus of the heat!
Dianne nd Shirley, been prying for you both..drts life is not fir!!
Be Bach to read over your posts and comment, let's just hope I don't fall asleep..
Called mom to say I put flowers on her dad's grave and while she was gabbing I could feel myself nodding off.
Hello To All !
Wow - Exhausted too! Back yard is clean and ready for Fathers Day at our house ! Waving to Laura... Shirley - so so good to see you again... I know, like Debbie, I turned to some Hospice support groups before and after Mom passed... and I know they helped me... sometimes just good to see others in your situation... know you are not alone...love the Memorial garden idea... LK - I agree those flowers seems so high... could it be the cost conversion in $ ?
Barb LOVED when DS was in baseball.. I know you are having fun with that... will be good times if I get to watch GK's one day do the same...
Betty - yes - re: son's respect.... thank God he is respectful of me. Was a nice week with him... he did some things I wanted done.... and I did a few for him.
yes - LK has had some hot weather. Ours too but Thank Goodness we are not as dry as she has had to deal with thought about LK while watering tonight.... today a scorcher but I won't complain because I know I certainly could NOT deal with snow and the cold....Wow -your soil looks grey like ashes... interesting how everyone's soil is so different on this earth...... We had Sand in Florida ! More like clay here. Would LOVE to have that rock you dug up... would cost $$ here. Can you use that for decoration around the pond? Your pond looks great and can't believe you got so much done so quickly... nice to have folks help out....agree with Susan.. I know Cathy is happy to help... and all others....Rogers wreath is pretty... was purple his favorite color ?
I can't put wreath's on Mom's grave ... so usually buy fresh flowers...
So Fathers Day is here tomorrow... FIL and MIL.... MIL is bringing "Shrimp Creole". BIL and his 3 kids, he is bringing fish to grill... he's an awesome cook and fisherman so that shoudl be yum. We are serving veggie tray, salad, grilling asparagus, corn, and iced down watermelon.
DS won't be here ... he has to work..... :(
((HUGS)) will pop back in a bit to check on the Night Shift. "What are you doing for Fathers Day ?"
Mary
Betty - that pond is going to look Awesome when done - you're taking so much care to Do It Right The First Time (don't I sound like Mike Holmes?)
wow - thanks for the links for eyelash yarn - that's exactly what I have! I want to make a top with it, now to find a free pattern for it LOL
Oh yum Mary - I am drooling just reading this!!!
Dianne
Morning, finishing coffee, off to vist Roger and back for a day of sunshine and work..
Mary, I'm glad you had quality time with your son..spoke once with a friends daughter, she was grown, said it wasn't so much the step mom thing, it was that she never had alone time with her dad! Take some one on one time as often as you can..maybe hubby could do so with his girls .. Bet your yard is gorgeous..fun day ahead of you..I'm with Dianne, you've got my mouth watering..think today I'll cook a steak for myself as a treat..BBQ picnic for one near the pond!
Mary, re flowers and cost..not exchange because our dollar is slightly higher than your....think even flowers at garden center are quite high..perennials..$2.89
Dianne see that you are up early, I'm sure you are having difficult time sleeping with all you have on your mind..is hubby in a lot of pain or have they given him stronger meds?
Shirley, today will be hard for you, know that even after all these years Father's Day is a hard day, always made it such a special day..hugs coming your way. I attended, in fact started a support group through the municipal programming and benefited greatly..as well, got books from the library which helped me understand the feelings I was feeling...so I encourage you as the others have done to reach out..
Best start my day!
Morning everyone! It will be a quiet day here. Todd has no kids, and my Dad is in Michigan, so I sent him a pretty bouquet of flowers, he got the yesterday, and a card with cash inside, so he can go shopping and find something he wants.
Mary, sounds like your going to have a house full! Enjoy the company, and that good fish!
Oh Betty I have gone from little sleep to almost none. Guess I am going to have to break down and take some of my sleepers. The Doc is going to have to do something about DH's pain meds as the oxycocet and morphine are not touching the pain. His only comfortable spot is laying down and he hates to do that all day.
Looks like you all are going to have a beautiful day for Father's Day. The furries got my DH some delicious dark chococlate from Godiva so he will be in seventh heaven when he opens the box.
Shirley I was so glad to see you post.
Going to cut the lawn now before it gets too hot. BBL
Dianne
Dianne, praying he gets proper pain meds soon!
Omg Dianne, those are strong meds, who further could they possibly give him??does he have a lounger so he can enjoy the beautiful day outside? A beauty is will be..you won't have to break down and take sleeping pills, you'll have a breakdown for lack of sleep and worry....you have sooo tempted me to pick up chocolates when I'm in town, best not..can't seem to lose the weight I've put on this winter...
Beautiful breeze here Dianne, bet near the lake it's fantastic!
LindaKay, I'm sure your family appreciates Todd and will give him a call..
My day other than work will be quiet..Jeff is in the city doing something with hos boys, from what. I understand from Noah Greg has to take visiting dignitaries out to see the country, and why on fathers day?? Have to check that out.Sooo not sure what they will do..I'll keep busy so I don't start feeling sorry for myself. Lol
Maintenance at cemetery had all the trees trimmed, weed g, everything done so I simply had to put the arrangement on his tombstone..
I've fixed the stained glass window..leveled the pond and bow I'm off to the quarry for more slate..not sure how much I can put in my car so2 trips might be necessary...
Ok I'll stop at times for coffee and chocolate donut, my treat for working hard
Hello To All !
Hope everyone had a Nice Fathers Day ! Yes - it was very yummy. The best part was that I didn't really have to do anything but veggie tray/dip and salad bar fixin's. I didn't even eat a salad... wanted to 'save' room for the grilled Fish with Bernaise sauce and Shrimp Creole...
It was really hot... but a beautiful day. The yard was gorgeous and hibbies had 6 blooms for DH's fathers Day present. I got him a scuba mask/snorkel and a hammock.
Betty - you are so right re: that One on one time... I wish we could have more... I do try to sneak lunch with DS from time to time. That's too bad that Greg had to entertain folks...
Dianne - I am so sorry that DH is having so much pain. I don't know what would be stronger...but maybe some other type of pain meds ? I read somewhere about dark chocolates having antioxidants ...or being good for you.....
Waving to Susan and all... I'll pop back in a bit. Exhausted. Everyone swam today except me and MIL... Even 80+ FIL swam....and Belle is now a swimmer as well... ((HUGS))
Mary
waving right back atcha, Mary!!!
Hello to all!
I was digging up a garden plot at a friends (we're sharing the proceeds with them), and it started to sprinkle so I went in and visited. Then back to work, and it POURED! Rained too hard to make it to their house, so I waited it out in the car (listened to some tunes). It Would Not stop, so I just drove home.
May use the rototiller tomorrow, but it's not a large garden, so I don't know.......
I got some potatoes, celery, red onions, multiplier onions, lettuce, radishes, 3 tomato plants, etc. It'll be nice to finally have a garden again! Last one we had was in Winnipeg in 2005....
Oh yes Mary we use Dark Chocolate for medicinal purposes!lol What a fibber I am!
Gorgeous weather here today hope everyone else did too.
Was outside most of the day, managed to cut the lawn, plant some marigolds and just generally tidy up out there. There was a nice breeze so it didn't feel too hot.
Make sure you all do something nice for yourself tomorrow.
Dianne
It was hot and humid yesterday but still had a cook out.
DH had a good day.
Today is DS 6th B-day.
Was going to go to the local pool but raining. We need it so not going to complain.
We got him a little pet bunny. He loves animals. It has been in the house since Thursday.
Keeping her hidden until later today. Will take a pic later.
Susan enjoy the garden. Nothing better than home grown.
Wavying to all .
Enjoy your day.
Coffee is on.
Thanks for the coffee Laura! Bet your little guy is going to be very excited about his bunnt. I had a friend who had a bunny that she used to take to school everyday. She was a teacher and the kids just loved that bunny. The bunny would sit in the passenger seat and look out the window. The bunny knew more trick and voice commands than any well trained dog I have seen.
Betty how was your trip to the quarry?
BBL
Dianne
Morning everyone!
Laura, bet you can't wait to see the look on his face! Make sure you post pictures please?
