Oh Debbie I so remember Ryan going through those " End of High School Blues " I thought I was going to lose my mind........He was so " NOT " ready to be out of High School, even though he had 5 more credits than he even needed. When I graduated I was very much ready to be done with school, but Ryan was no child of mine,he could of went back and re-did his senior year ! It took him every bit of 6 months to a year to adjust .College was miserable at first.......... Thank the Lord he is now 24 and settled in on being in the ugly real world ! My heart goes out to you and him !!!!!!!

Verona, ON

Happy Birthday LK!! I think I just slipped in ubder the wire to get my wishes off on your actual BD.
Actually I sent a post off earlier today and I see it is not here. Lost my Interent connection and telephone for 2 -3 hours and I think it happened just as I hit send.
Ouch Betty!! I broke 2 of my toes and chipped a bone in my third toe by walking into a box spring that was on the floor. That was when I still taught and I put my shoes on went to school ran 2 mi with the Track Team and then had Track practice.By noon my foot was throbbing so I went home and took off my shoe. Oh my my foot inflated like a balloon! Used crutches for a few days but I remember how much it hurt.Hope you have something for the pain Betty.
Saw the dentist today my 45 min appointment only stretched into a 60 min one so that was good. One of my doozy headaches started up while I was in the chair so have been coddling that along all day.
It has been raining for over 11 hours now.It can stop anytime!!
Mary when are we going to have that pool party?Or did I miss it???
Synda I know it is hard when DH has to be away. For over 6 years my DH was gone M - F every week except in July and August. The first year I cried every time he left and every time he came home. Like you and your DH we had rarely been apart but I learned to make good use of that time by doing things I wanted to do and DH didn't.
Shirley how are you sweetie?
Dianne

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Dianne I can't even fathom what Shirley and some of these other ladies have had to endure losing their mate........................... I guess that is why I didn't speak much of Sweet Shirley's loss of Tubby ,I can't even find words !

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the Birthday wishes Dianne! Sure hope your headache is better? When do you see your Dr. for them?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What time is dinner Betty?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty my cousin, Kari, didn't use drugs either, until she went into rehab some 20 years after she started using. She was all strung out on Meth and Crack and told me that she didn't use, and I'm also wondering if she used some heroin in the mix in there too.

There's a thing called 12 Step that to get through rehab you have to do it, one of the steps is to contact people you feel you have hurt along your addiction road. My dad doesn't know that because he's never completed AA, he has attitude and says he doesn't need it, that whole Whitney side is all messed up, every one of them, probably why there are only 3 left still living.

LOL Synda!! You're not a baby, I always want mine home, I wish I made the money to keep him home, I don't mind going to work while he does all of the house cleaning and cooking and all, not to mention taking care of the whole property and veggie garden.

I'll take some 70* weather!! I would like to order some rain too, I'm sure that's still on the menu?

Dianne hope your headache is gone, seems you've been having a lot of those too.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL!! I'm on my way!!!

Lyndonville, NY

Those of you needing a hubby when yours is gone for a few days, you can have mine as a loaner....rent is cheap.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll remember that Debbie. Lol, won't take him long to cross the border and on to my house!

We'll if you are coming to dinner best I pick up bongo cards for you all..more playing, better chance of our winning! Ohhh less money though as we'll all have to share!

Dianne, you must have sent to good weather my way, gorgeous day out there. Sorry to hear you are having those migraines again...guess only options is high doses of meds but taking them you don't see much of the day.

Debbie, hard time for Shane, knowing now he's away at school that everything will change, now facing the world ..sometimes we forget how overwhelming it must be to these kids...how is Shannon today? Bet she never saw that side of Mike..she must be sooo hurting!!

Crissy, have you decided what to do?? Will you keep in contact?

Synda, go do something special for just YOU today..with Roger on the road M/F although I found I got to be very independent, sure helped me when he died...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I will take one blessed day at a time - my fishy is quite happy, and the trees overgrowing my yard are almost gone. Bob is going to get some help for the larger one.
I'm heading to the chiro this am (spending all my Blue Cross $$ from the co before the end of the month!!) cuz I have a pain in the small of my back. Maybe from hauling all the tree branches to throw in Bob's truck.......
I can't tell you how happy I am now that I no longer feel like a slave to the company. I didn't realize how bad it made me feel, and now I feel released! ^_^

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Dianne, I am not a doctor.....but I have a few suggestions re: migraines.. and depending on any other health issues.. check with your doctor.....

My doctor put me on a low dose of antidepressants, non addictive type, helps with the headaches/migraines. some ingredients in there effects something in the way your brain cells talks to each other.....so migraine pain is less....doctor explained it all.

I also drink one coffee, one coke every day. some caffeine is good for migraine, but too much and your in trouble. did you know that caffeine is one of the MAJOR ingredients in migraine medication. you have to figure out "your" amount. if I have two coffees once in awhile, I am ok, but can't do it very often....and chocolate is a BIG no no, good thing I am not crazy about it anyway. some nuts and strawberries can bother some people with headache issues....

I used to get migraines so bad that I was put out of commission for 3 - 4 days at a time.
I used to have to give my self shots, twice a day...and at $60:00 a shot !! it was a very expensive "cure". saw a bunch of different docs trying to figure out what to do...... by chance I went to the doctors for something else, and my doctor had been called out on an emergency, so I saw some one else......best thing ever happened......she had also suffered from migraines...her first suggestion was the coke/coffee....eventually we added the antidepressant.

don't know your medical situation....but maybe this can help a bit....

Synda, I do not like it at all when my hubby goes away......can't sleep well at all.....

I  think this is hilarious! I NEVER HEARD CREATION EXPLAINED THIS WAY BEFORE !!!
In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and
red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
Loading...
Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled.
And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the
wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 6 to size 14.
Loading...
So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side.
And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.
God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them." And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and
chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof. God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it "Angel Food Cake," and said, "It is good." Satan then created chocolate cake and named it "Devil's Food."
God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.
Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the
starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.
God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and its
99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with that?" And Man replied, "Yes! And super size them!" And Satan said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest.
God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.

Then Satan created Cuts to the Health Care System.

Amen

Thanks everyone for your concern about my headaches. My headaches are a direct result of a tumor I have on my pit gland. I had 2 surgeries plus radiation and unfortunately the radiation did not diminish the tumor as much as we had all hoped for. I am thankful that I have most of my sight back now and these killer headaches are not everyday like they were before the radiation. I just hate losing a day or 2 out of my week as when they strike they hit suddenly and the pain is intense. The pain is not as bad as when after my first surgery I had a leak of the fluid in my brain. Now that was pain!!!
The sun is trying to shine but it is sweater weather here. And last week for a couple of days it was way over 85* - go figure.
Today is the day we make Rhubarb and Strawberry rhubarb pies to go in the freezer. I use the indivivual foil pie tins as DH is usually the only one eating the pie. I don't bake them just put them in the freezer and bake them from frozen. I have a sink full of rhubarb so I had better get to it.
Betty do you like your new work digs?
Dianne

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

New work digs? Did I miss something there????
mmmmmm want to make some Rhubarb Custard pie...... my DH wants Strawberry/Rhubarb pie....
and I'm trying to lose weight LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, hugs, pain must be unbearable and yet you seem to go on with life..now look at you, getting ready to put sweets in the freezer..are the berries local..was thinking that as a young child I'd go berry picking, lordy, think they paid us 5 cents a container for picking, mind you I ate at least 20 cents worth...lol..now that was many moons ago and was always towards the end of June..should be a good crop this year with rain and sunshine???

Now you have my mouth watering..strawberry shortcake is my favorite!!! ooops devil wants me to eat it..lol

I will love my new digs but don't move in until August 1st or a few days sooner if telephones are installed..I'm sure I'll be thrilled to no end working in a mall, especially winter months when there is no need to go outside..have still to negotiate SOME work from home days...we'll see!

Lunch hour..getting hungry..wonder if Mucho Burrito's sells strawberry shortcake..gab later

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, Betty will be moving to a new office soon, in a strip mall I believe she said! More office space so she can have her crafts there also! Doesn't look like she will be retiring for awhile?
Dianne, will they do more treatments to try and shrink the tumor?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

wow - are the new digs closer to you, Betty?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol on the retiring! He does say he'll see about me working from home more often..not quite sure I believe him..

Yes, more craft room and office is on 2nd floor (all glass) with view of shoppers...large mall called koslov center

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Betty LOVE the " In The Beginning " Story !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Verona, ON

LK it is up to me right now, well me and my Neurosurgeon and Oncologist to decide the next stage of my treatment. I do not want another brain surgery if I can help it as this time they would have to go in through my forehead and I end up running around looking like Lurch in the Munsters.I have to have my radiation in Toronto which is about a 3 hour drive from home so I stay in a lodge that the Cancer Society and Princess Margaret Hospital jointly run. The lodge is $75.00 a week and includes 3 huge meals a day, a shuttle service to and from the hospital each day and 24 hour nurses. There are several activities in the evenings to keep you busy as well. No TV in your room but there is a bar fridge so on the days you don't feel like eating you can put something in the fridge to keep until you do want to eat. I just hated being away from home for 6 weeks although I was lucky and my DH came and picked me up every Friday to take me home then drove me back on Mon morning.
Dr. Death's office just called they have the results from DH's MRI and she would like to see us both on Thurs am. My stomach is starting to flutter already.
BBL
Dianne

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Dianne you have been through the mill!! My goodness my stomach is starting to flutter here for your DH too, even though, well, here anyway, she has to see you to discuss what it said, even if it said nothing!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not so good on the Dr. Death's call, no wonder your tummy is turning..not so bad when you call to make appt. but when they call you in??? long time to wait, could they not have gotten you in sooner..you thought it would be a much longer wait didn't you? If Dr. Death was a local doctor you might encourage him to make a housecall but if he's in Kingston, no way right?

Doubt there are many hospitals with better care than the Princess Margaret Hospital and Lodge..you were indeed in good hands..if you've to return for a few days please let me know and I'll come and visit, hoping it doesn't come to that though! You are a brave soul..

Sending prayers for both of you...

Susan, new digs might save me 5 or 10 minutes only..keep getting closer to home..the new way the 4 offices will be working is most are working from home..Paul says we have to get them up and running under a vew system then we'll see about me..doesn't mean we are getting rid of any offices though, just staff don't have to sit doing nothing, can do nothing from home..lol

So a crafting I will go

Thought with the few canadians here on line I'd post a laugh on us Canucks...

A Rednecks Observation of Canada (Canucks) as told by Jeff Foxworthy:

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there
You may live in Canada

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time,
You may live in Canada

If you've had a lengthly telephone conversation with someone who dialled the wrong number,
You may live in Canada

If "vacation" means going anywhere south of Detroit/buffalo for the weekend,
You may live in Canada

If you measure distance in hours,
You may live in Canada

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once,
You may live in Canada

If you have switched from "heat" to a/c in the same day and back again,
You may live in Canada

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but don't lock your doors,
You may live in Canada

If the speed limit on the highway is 80km per hour and you are going 100km per hour and everybody is passing you,
You may live in Canada

If you actually understand this list,
Then you definately are Canadian...

If you have more miles on your snowblower than your car,
You may live in Canada

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit,
You may live in Canada
If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them,

If you can drive 90 km/hr. through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching
You may live in Canada

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Dianne I'll be saying extra prayers now that DH's MRI is good. My heart goes out to you with all that you have to deal with. I'm so looking forward to August and pray we will be able to meet. Sending gentle hugs your way---Barb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Adding my prayers as well Dianne! (((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) to both of you!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Well, today i just filled out our Passport Application - will need to get the proper signatures, then our passport picture, and take it to the South End of the city to get the application filed.
It's about time we got this done! I figure, at the beginning when it was new that everyone had to have one, the line-ups must have been awful! Now the furor has died down, I hope it will be quicker. This way we'll be able to drive into Montana and enjoy the scenery! ^_^

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I need to get ours done too! They cost $150.00 here! It is all done at the post office here, including the picture. They says it takes about 6 weeks to get it back.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yikes - $150???? o my..... I'd better see what the cost is before we apply.....................................!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It's only $87 for a 24 pg passport, and $92 for a 48 pg one.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I don't know how many pages mine has, Dave has one too but I think his expired last November and he says he cares nothing about traveling now that he is 50 years old. What's up with that??? I'm not 50, not even close?????? LOL LOL LOL LOL

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm 57 and Bob's 61, and we plan on travelling more. In fact, when we can, we'll get out our camping gear and see if it's good enough weather to tent!!!!!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, spent afternoon watching Titanic II, really enjoyed it..charges here in Ontario only differ if you want it done quickly vs going through the channels and get it when you get it

Hurry hurry, you'll need it for the 2012 get together at my house ...doors are always open so cross on over and visit sooner..

That would make an excellent camping trip Susan..hope you get them in time to camp this season.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Well, need to get all the signatories on the papers (1 Guarantor, and 2 references, but that shouldn't be problematic!), then take it to the south east side of the city. It's $87/person for the applications, and $14/person for the pictures. It'll have to wait until I have some $$ to pay for it ^_^
