Me too, Pam and Christina! It's pretty!
Marilyn, they just use the bottles as vases for the day's blooms. I haven't made it to their July extravaganza, but they have many more in bloom bottles then. They also have lots of hostas and other perennials on sale at 25% off now. I got a Karmina cranesbill as well. Victor has a couple of pretty shots of it in PF. The foliage turns red in the fall. I planted it next to myorange-leafed spirea. They have a nice shade garden.
This mornimg the HUGE clump of hosta comes out. Thank you, Hank!!! :)
Spending spree #7
Well, DUH! I didn't know the DLs were still blooming....thought it was like a ship-in-a-bottle....LOL. Sounds like your gardens will be even prettier next year.....Pam, sounds like you had a fun day as well.....
I am disabled due to serious spine problems and my wife works crazy retail hours. Our gardens have gotten way overgrown, so we hired a former co-worker/friend of my wife's who has a side landscaping business to take care of our front and side yards. Dear friends came and helped my wife take care of the back yard a few weeks ago. There are lots of spaces so we bought some things at a favorite local garden center today for the front yard. We got three Russian Sages, a variegated-leaf Coreopsis, 4 Clematis vines to help soften the chain link fence (not sure of the variety names, but there is a dark purple, dark pink, light purple and light pink) and a Japanese Sky Pencil Holly which is tall and slender. Our landscaper friend will plant them for us later this week. It is nice to visit our local garden centers and bring home some treasures, something we have not done for several years.
has to be hard Dave
At least you have someone you can count on to do the planting for you
Nice haul!
Yes, it is hard not to be able to work in all the gardens we designed and created. It is nice to find someone trustworthy to take care of our gardens for us. Gardening was and still is one of my greatest passions and at least I can still help pick out plants and decide where they should be planted. And enjoy watching them grow, of course. ☺
It sounds like it will be a lovely addition, Dave. I think you'll get a lot of pleasure from it. Good friends are worth gold, aren't they? Enjoy!
Sounds like you bought some pretty plants......
nice plants dave!
Dave, it's nice to hear you got a chance to get some plants and you have a good friend to help you out with the gardens. Sorry to hear about your back problems.
Karen
Dave, I am sorry you have back troubles. I hope you're finding all he help you need.
an email from Well-Sweep
Greetings!
We survived Hurricane Irene's visit, only to be slammed again by her sidekick Lee - with minor damage. 22 ½ inches of rain fell in the last month and that's a record for us. Irene stopped by the day of our big sale - Customer Appreciation Day, which definitely dampened attendance.
Now with the sun shining we wanted to offer you a chance to get back out with a Super End of Summer Sale featuring 20% off everything. I'm even offering better discounts on select items here at the farm. The sale runs 10 days, from Wednesday - Saturday, September 14 - 24, 2011 on all farm purchases. This includes the Gift Shop, as well as mail orders over a $25 subtotal; regular shipping and handling charges apply - instock items only. Now's the perfect time to save some money and spruce up your garden. Whether common, unusual, or hard-to find, we've got the plant for you.
Come take a stroll with me around the farm. I'll show you what's in bloom, and introduce some perennials that provide fantastic fall color. There's even a picture of me! Click here to view my photo album.
The farm is open from Monday - Saturday, 9:00 to 5:00 this time of year. If you need a 2011 catalog or would like one for a friend, just e-mail me and I'll take care of it. You can also download a copy in PDF format here. The 2012 catalog will be mailed in March.
We look forward to your order, or hope to see you at the farm!
