Today, I AM thankful for brothers who share. I dug a couple of Aspen treelings and some Lily of the Valley.
Later, I PLAN on being thankful Isis is home safe and sound.
Today, I am thankful for...#5
Today, I am thankful for:
Gatorade on sale. Hot summer all-RED-ee and lots of work still to do out there.
Being the boss and the one who produces payroll. So, when a water pipe breaks at my sister's house in the middle of the night and they wake up to three inches of water, I can write my own paycheck early to cover the repair. :-)
That I do not live in or have easy access to Portland, OR and the Voodoo Doughnut shop--and Maple Bacon Bar doughnuts...oh, my, oh my. I have GOT to stop watching food shows when I KNOW what is coming next...sigh...LOL
Kwan, Isis will forgive you. And you will feel better about it, too, as the routine gets back to normal. :-)
Today, I am thankful for scented soap that can make you feel better about your day just by inhaling.
Thankful to have gotten THROUGH this day. :-)
Thankful for fast-growing hair. Said this time not going to wait for it to get long enough to donate. Coming up on hot season, I look better with shorter, blah, blah, blah. It's long enough now/already that maaaaaaaybe I should reconsider and wait it out just...one...more...time. LOL
Kwan, you might have to resort to a DOUBLE cheeseburger being as Isis is a cat. I would swear cats carry grudges. Certainly, they aren’t as easy to appease as dogs.
I am thankful for celery today. Celery and cucumbers are my new favorite snacks. I wish we could grow celery, but I don’t know anyone in this area who has successfully grown it. I will try planting Lovage ‘Magnus’ next January, if I can find the seed. I can grow something that tastes like celery anyway. It is claimed ‘Magnus’ unlike the straight species, can survive our heat.
I know exactly where you are coming from, Debra. MK donates her hair also. It's baby fine so they use it to make wigs for little girls who have lost their hair due to chemo-therapy. The hairstylist in town who took part in that program was a military wife and has moved on and we haven't found another beauty shop that participates in the program. MK's hair is below her waist, but because it is fine and straight the daily care is a breeze for her. I like the idea of donating. I know losing one's hair can be a terrible blow for cancer patients and natural hair wigs are incredibly expensive. My own hair tends to frizzy curls and is so thick there would probably be enough for two wigs, but I always get frustrated with how time consuming it is to care for when it is growing out. I battle snarls and tangles everyday and inevitably end up getting it cut before it is a useful length for wig making. You have such pretty hair, I know it would be appreciated. But, I know how frustrating it can be.
~Nadine~
Nadine, I like cucumbers, too. Sliced with some chopped ripe tomato, sprinkled with red wine vinegar and a little black pepper...very refreshing on a hot day.
Pass this link on to Kay, it's the place I send my hair. She might like it. All you have to do is get someone to cut the hair and you mail it in.
Oops, had to come back and edit to put IN the link.

Kwan, how is Isis?
Cajun, how is the closet project?
Jim, how is the new chair working for you?
Hi carrie, and vickie, and quilty, and ruby! and SW and Katie, if you still look in, hello to you two, too! LOL

Today, I am thankful the dozen or so Daylilies still sitting in the shipping box are doing okay just wrapped in damp newspaper. HAVE to get more pots or find temporary places to dig them in.
I am thankful to still be feeling fairly energetic even with the early heat.
I am thankful that I have the means to pay for removal of the growth on my oldest dog's lower eyelid rim. Because of where it is, he has to be anesthetized. I know how yucky I have felt after anesthesia, but it is growing and getting ragged on the edges. It HAS to come off so I can make sure it is benign.

Today, I am thankful for all you fine folks. You can make a person feel better in 2 seconds. A big cyber-hug to you all!
((((((((((((((((((((((((HUG))))))))))))))))))))))
I forgot to answer your question, Debra. Isis is doing very well. We're supposed to keep her from jumping on the furniture but you know cats. LOL She is much sweeter these days and is always wanting snuggles. She isn't usually like that.
Little Cleo is steering clear, though. Probably because Isis looks different and she's frightened. She makes BIIIIIIG circles are Isis, watching her the whole time.
Monty doesn't care.
Russell-dog will have to wait a bit for that growth removal. He's got some kind of digestive upset and I won't put him through anesthesia until he's past it.

Today, I am thankful for:
Thinking of the empty blue containers sitting in our warehouse. Cut off tops, drill five small drainage holes in the bottoms, and, voila!, plant containers! (also posted photo on Practical Matters accessible thread). All waiting Daylilies are now potted or planted. Yea, me! (been saying that a lot today :-)
Having made myself get dressed at 7:30am and go outside to work some before it hit 95 degrees. Did that, too, this afternoon, but felt very virtuous about the unusual early start. Normally get up around 9:00 and don't get out of pajamas until sometime after 12:00 noon.
Having low enough humidity today that clothes--even knits--dried just fine after 45 minutes on the "Fluff, No Heat" dryer setting.
Hey, Debra! That's usually how my day starts, too. LOL
Today, I am thankful DH mowed the lawn. The cats were getting lost in it.
I am thankful for rain today and remain thankful for my new computer chair.
I LIKE my new chair! DW called the old one my “Frankenstein chair.” To get the features I wanted I had pieced together parts from three different office chairs. This one is high backed enough I can lean my head back, is fully adjustable and is so solidly built a 6’ 3”, 315 lb. man can feel comfortable in it. It is the most thoughtful Father’s Day gift I have ever gotten. It even matches the décor so DW is happy about it too. (Jim)
Today, I am thankful to have deep watered yesterday, because it only got down to 78 overnight and was officially 100 this afternoon.
thankful for brown sugar toast
thankful to have a supply of canine kaopectate.
Today, I'm thankful for Bath & Body Works.
Today I am thankful for computer translation systems. They are truly amazing tools when you stop to think about it and they were the stuff of science fiction not that long ago. ~N~
Today, I am thankful for:
Morning temps still comfortable enough to use my 4-40 hair dryer on the way to work--four windows down, 40 miles an hour. :-)
Chapstick
My sister's willingness to pick up prescriptions for me AND the dogs on her way home from work, no matter how much else she has to do. (Vet and pharmacy both within blocks of her house and miles from mine.) Thank you, Cathy! [hug]

Today, I am profoundly, singularly, and vehemently thankful that neither I nor any of my staff have to go anywhere near downtown Dallas at any time in the next two days. LOL
Congratulations, Mavericks!

I'm thankful that my son is home safe and sound for a two week leave from Afghanistan. He goes back for another month or so and hopefully back for good in August...Thank you God! Keep him safe.
Amen to that...
I'm thankful that my vegetable garden has survived 3 hailstorms...at least it's struggling to survive. ;)
I'm thankful for the good rain last night. It was a slow, gentle rain that the ground had time to absorb. (Jim)
oh, ann, we need rain here badly, but hail we don't. glad to hear the vegetables are hanging in...
I'm thankful for Daves Garden friends who are glad to hear that my veggie patch is hanging in there. Thanks Debra! I wish I could send some rain clouds your way! We have had too much rain this spring. You never know, it could turn around and get blazing hot and dry. If so, I'll be thankful that my rain barrels are full and ready to be emptied. :)
Today, I'm thankful for sun and no clouds but not too hot you can't get outside and do a little work. I am NOT thankful for the crack in the sidewalk I tripped over today. I AM thankful I didn't get badly hurt. Just a scraped knee and sore shoulder.
ouch! [hug on the not-sore side]
Thanks for the hug. I needed that. ^_^
Today, I am thankful that, although it's been a blah day, nothing BAD happened and I am only feeling whiny and pitiful for no good reason. LOL
I am thankful for pizza delivery. Have it delivered at work right before leaving, cool enough to eat by time I get home. Sheer indulgence and worth every dime on a late Friday afternoon with one more work day to go.
And I am (always) thankful central air conditioning!
I am still thankful for yesterday's surprises. 15 beautiful, heirloom tomato volunteer seedlings came up in my compost pile. I got them all transplanted. I think the transplants will be successful despite the heat because of the rain and clouds. Also, when I was coming in for the day, the sun came out from behind the storm clouds. It made for one of those awesome sunsets you just have to stop and appreciate. ~Nadine~.
The surprises in Life are the best!!!
Today I am thankful for:
Antihistamines
Modern communication devices and services
Woven silk fabric
I'm thankful for a son who came home just in time to see me struggling with instructions on putting together a gas weber grill that I bought to surprise my husband for fathers day.
The store clerk said " It's EASY PEASY to put together" He lied! LOLOL! I couldn't even figure out step 1!
ALL store clerks lie when they say, "Oh, it's EASY!" :-D
People also lie when they say "You can't miss it." LOL
aint THAT the truth. :-)
LOL
Today, I'm thankful for beef brisket and BBQ sauce.
I'm thankful that I survived our local PRIDE parade without collapsing. And that I have something to eat tonight.
...and then there is that one you always hear at the doctor's office, "This won't hurt a bit."
Today, I am thankful for real, unadulterated GUY FOOD! Otherwise known as steak and potatoes.. (Jim)
yeah, having ready food after a tiring day is a real good thing. :-)
Or, "This is going to pinch a little." Happy Father's Day, Jim [hug]
=================================================================
Today, I am thankful for:
Clotheslines
John Ford's "Stagecoach"
An internist who LISTENS to me when I tell him something is wrong :-)
