May Blooms

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I think I just repeated the same picture. Sorry.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Hey, IloveJesus, I think you needed to go to bed!! I love that evergreen wisteria. It makes a gorgeous flower--I like anything in vivid colors, especially purple. Does it attract bumblebees like regular wisteria? I am MUCH better about bees and wasps than I used to be but still could not handle bumbles in my yard! I used to immediately run and scream when I'd see a bee/wasp! Now I can be with them but only freak if they fly near me or in my face!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

bariolio I see more Bumble Bees on my Lavender Vitex than on the Evergreen Wisteria. I really love the Evergreen Wisteria, The color is out of this world.

Here is a Bumble I took yesterday.

And you're right I really needed to be in bed.

I have NEVER seen that stuff bloom! However, you should remove it from your tree as it's not good for the tree.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Aah, no! I went to east Texas to get that stuff. Don't worry. It's just a very small tuft on a big jujube tree.
If it gets so big that it makes the tree vulnerable to strong winds, I'll just remove a chunk of it, and the
rest can stay. It's not a parasite like orchids, so as long as it doesn't overgrow the tree, they should be
fine together.

Last one, I promise (at least until different flowers start to bloom).
Bad phone pic but the 3 dollar bulbine was a good purchase and I will plant drummond phlox every fall.

Hey Newton, you just keep on posting! I love seeing gardens and at my age, I can't remember if you've posted before anyway!! You too, IloveJesus! Are those Angel Trumpets?

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Very nice everyone. May is a fantastic month, and I think this one even more since it seems that it has stayed a little cooler than usual.Cheryl...you lucky girl finding $3 bulbine. I have bought and lost it 2 winters now, so I would only buy it for that $

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I have lost several too Anna. Got one now from Catzgalore and may dig and bring it in this year, or at least a start of it. Winters are rough lately.

Arlington, TX

Datura (angel trumpets).
I haven't ever had the bulbine over winter. I might try digging it up and taking it in but if I can find a big pot for a few dollars, why bother. I can tell you I got that one at Kroger and divided it up into 3 plants.

I would never think of going there for a plant. Glad you were lucky.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I also love bulbine and haven't seen any in my yard. Must have lost it too. I really want to find a night blooming jasmine. Mine was huge and it froze the winter of 2009 :o(

A new and cute plant to my yard. Suppose to be a short lived plant so I was glad to see small bees on the flowers

Pretty, especially the way it falls over the rocks. Is it an annual?

Arlington, TX

No, a perennial but I have read on a few sites it doesn't live for many years but does self sow.

Stephanie, my balloon flower is like that too this year. This is its seventh spring in my garden, and it has NEVER looked like it does this year. Made me wanna run out and buy a dozen of them.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Soooooo Pretty everyone!!

Cleburne, TX(Zone 8a)

Sharondippity, glad you checked in. I was wondering how you did in the storms. Looks like everything is thriving.

Beautiful photos, Everyone. Keep 'em coming.

Irving, TX(Zone 8a)

My garden is recovering after the bad storm of last week.
I lost many of my liliums ... they just got broken in half ... so I will have to wait untill next year ...
