Hi girls......
Very nice Pegi !!!!!!!!
Sweet Interruptions 217
Hey Synda! How you doing today? Staying out of trouble?
Thanks, I'm blushing! Our weather has cooled down but is so nice. Not looking forward to hot days of summer. Today was a good day for me. Back exercises are really helping, going back to physical therapy on Tuesday for more ways to help my back.
Cool here this morning and only to reach the mid to upper 70s. Perfect weather.
Mornin' Sue, how are things?
LK, I am not an expert but they look like liatris to me. There is something that grows wild here that looks like that and we call it Blazing Star but liatris is the name. It is now common to find it in a nursery. Okay Sue, help us here.
tag says its Speedwell 'inspire blue " a veronica hybrid what ever that means ?
i thought it was liatris also when i got it but ? maybe a smaller version of it.
bee's love it !! trust me on that one. i got attacked when i was moving them around LOL
doesn't flower well IMHO. may just be the weather. ? but it doesn't look as nice as when it was in the picture.
my liatris looks great .
hope it helps
cool weather today only in the low 40's brrrr. no sun. no fun. :(
Thanks Sue! Sorry about the bees attacking you.
Pass me some Bailey's!!
Just got through dmailing the RWB names. Quadruple checking everything and with the cats vying for attention, this took me close to 2 hours!!!
Pegi, you're one terrific gardener. Come on over and do mine!! Plenty of space here for your heart's delight.
I got a few double walled styrofoam boxes from medical supply house, that would be perfect to turn them into containers.
Must I paint them? No visitors here, so the aesthetic appeal isn't necessary :D
Your plants are looking so healthy... what do you feed them with?
Sue, sorry about your bee bites :( I have plenty buzzing around the bee balm here.
I've noticed that too about the Veronicas. Hybrids eh? No wonder they lost the height.
I wish you plenty of sales this week Sistah. You need the monetary boost since you are feeding more now.
How is Austin doing by the way?
Marion, you are one fortunate grandma, having your DGDs closeby.
Besides the changes in their physical growth, I'm sure their speech pattern change too. What the kids pick up nowadays from tv is mindboggling to my old mind!!
That's when I will need a translator!!
When my nieces and nephews email me.. I go "huh?"!!! And they weren't speaking in tongues!!
How are you doing today LK? Is the heat bearable there?
It's in the 70s here and supposed to pour. Good for the mosquitoes again.
How's that finger? Are you getting better help from the hotel?
Hope that Todd is helping you with your gardening.
Sistahs, pretty soon August will soon be here. I do hope that ALL of you can make it to Judy's.
Finger is the same, I see the specialist on Friday, sure hope they can tell me what is going on?
No info from the Best western, as they are not picking up the phone, and no way to leave a message. I have called so many times, and with the machine all automated, it just hangs up on me! So I have contacted a lawyer, and am waiting to hear back from him.
Wow, that took you a long time to send all those D-mails. Passing you the Bailey's!
Our weather has been really nice the past few days. It was 65 this morning, and supposed to be about 85 this afternoon! No complaints here.
It's all those clawing interruptions from the cats, LK!!
Best Western will learn NO to evade you when they get the papers from your lawyer.
Oh, bad kitty. They just want your attention!!!
well one of my chickens died. poor thing.
her mane was Ms. Shirely.
not much else here
Austin is doing fine.
so is savannah
jess well..... its a day to day thing. I did do the math and i m thinking she is just trying to get attention, can't see how she would gain 30 lbs in 30 days . ? so her math is wrong. But ?
any how
got a meeting with zone inspectors about my business . so they will let me know if i can do my nursery or not. If they decline me i can still do it. but i just "grow my own plants " that is the loop hole. we want to be honest . But if push comes to shove. i will smidge fidgit .
bbl
Hope your meeting goes well, and you get approved.
Got to get that whip out Synda!!! Lolol!!
You must be spying on me!! I'm too lazy to even press that button on the dishwasher!!!
Sue, good luck on your meeting. All these zone inspectors.. I can understand if it's a restaurant.. but a nursery? It's just a big money racket thing!!!
Jaye, you don't need to paint the containers, I just thought it would look better. Be sure to put holes in the bottom for drainage, I think LK's idea of heating a big nail to make the holes is good. Today, had to check the dumpsters again, this is really beginning to become a habit, and found some small styrofoam containers and they already have holes in the bottom. Don't know what came in them but they are going to become planters too. Couldn't get DH to stop by Lowe's so I could check out the plants on clearance, he wasn't feeling all that good. Well, I think I have enough to keep me busy.
My plants are nice and green now, but they won't look so good when our really hot weather comes. Having trouble with my brugs, don't know if I'm giving them enough water.
good morning
i passed the inspection. I had to do it, since we are zoned Agriculture and not business. It was no problem really they were all very nice on the board. Thank you for the kind thoughts. they sure worked :)
another wet , cold day brrrr. this is ridiculous .
well got to get kids moving.
bbl
Pegi, sounds like your going to be busy for a bit!
Sue, glad to hear you passed the inspection! YAY!!!
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready. Gotta run to the store here in a bit, I am out of sugar, and the hummers will be so mad if I don't keep those feeders full!
Congrats Sue!! Now you can breathe easier and not have to 'fudge'!
Pegi, on hot days, brugs drink a lot. You might have to construct temporary shade if they're inground. A beach or picnic umbrella maybe?
Thanks for the coffee LK. Seems you need to invest in sugar!!
I wish I can have hummers flying in everyday... I really believe my cats scare them off. Even the bird food's untouched and I hear them around :(
Looking forward to a dry day today, so will be pulling those fast growing weeds.
It is a rainy morning here, but not complaining (just yet). No playing outside and I was going to do some more painting while I'm on a roll. I haven't used any fertilizer on my garden yet, used Miracle Grow garden soil and that helps. Also I did add the rest of the worm castings I had here. Also have some worm tea from when DH was raising those little red worms. It will go a long way because I believe I read you mix it 14 to 1. Guess I better look it up again to be sure.
Glad to hear you passed inspection, Sue. Will keep you twice as busy now. You probably will need a few extra week days.
Peggy those are gorgeous!!!
Jaye I'll have Bailey's with you, Dave's family can stress a person out to the max and they're 2000 miles away!!
Glad you passed inspection Sue! Hhhhmmmm about your dd.
So I'm sitting here trying to find where these journals are out and I can't find it. I don't have any patience to sit and look for this crap!!
Hey Crissy and Jaye, don't be "piggish" with the Baileys!! I could use some today!!!
Well, as long as someone is passing the Bailey's around, I am holding out my glass too! ^_^
Glass nothing LK, I have a water bucket out today. I am sure there is plenty to go around. LOL
LOL! I hope so!
Sistahs, guess what I found to go with Bailey's!!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
BAILEY'S IRISH CREAM CHOCOLATE CHIP
COOKIES
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. Bailey's original Irish cream
2 1/4 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 c. coconut
1/2 c. chopped pecans
Cream butter, sugars and egg until fluffy. Add vanilla and Bailey's Irish cream. Mix dry ingredients and blend into creamed mixture. Add coconut, nuts and chips. Drop onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Don't they sound delicious!!! Marion, if you're coming to Judy's you and Kim could bake some for us!!!
On second thought, I think I know what your reply will be... yep.. I got to test bake them first, right?
Sue, I am so glad to read your admission that you're really enjoying your DD's company. Big step there towards some emotional healing. Whatever her choice is, I know you'll be right there behind her should she fall.
You are a great parent, Sue. I am so proud of you.
What journals Crissy? I'm sure you're not talking of Ladies Home Journal?? Lol!!
I worked for more than 2 hours today in the garden!!! That's the longest time I had ever spent cleaning the garden and repotting.. since my bypass!!
Normally, I could only work for half an hour and then I'll be out of breath. But today, with God's help, I pushed myself and it's a good feeling.
Will be too tired to stay later than 10 tonight for sure!!
Talked to Sis Kathy, and her daughter, Krista is having surgery. Say a prayer for her please. Something to do with her neck/back.
LK, did you get the hummers fed?
Sending lots of prayers for her daughter!
Yep, I got them fed, and the feeders are empty already. Geesh, they sure are little piggies!
I'm still wondering where the hummbers are around here. Think I'm going to move my hook in a different before filling up the feeder again.
I hope you DD decides to stay with you Sue since you are enjoying your time with her. I never had a daughter to do things with, I still miss that part of life.
Oh Jaye, after my own heart with those cookies. I would increase the amount of Bailey's though. Mmmmmmmmmm
I wish I had been in the garden with you Jaye, just don't push yourself too hard.
good morning
Jaye cookies sound yummy. a must try. wow 2 hrs in the garden , you go girl. thank you for the kind words.
saying a prayer for Kathys DD. hope it all goes well
i would just dip my cookies in the Baileys LOL
its still raining here. uhg.
when will it end. ?
well got to get things done.
bbl
I just gained 5 lbs. reading that cookie recipe. Sounds really yummy....might have to try it and give to my son's family as we can't allow sweets in the house now. To tempting to Kim.
Still having cooler weather but not complaining...it is wonderful outside.
Sending prayers for Kathy's daughter and Sue, glad to hear the news about your daughter. Sending love, hugs and prayers to both.
Morning Marion, how is that eye doing?
Thanks for the Bailey's yesterday! It helped big time.
They're accounting journals, they're throwing the balance sheet off.
Sue Jaye's right, you are a very good mom.
Hi Everyone!! I'm so tired I don't remember what I've just read!
Good morning! I'll take a cuppa LK.
One day I'll join you on your backporch, drinking coffee and watching the hummers feeding.
Then in the afternoons, you and me will look for the bestest BBQ brisket in Del Rio!!
It was so nice at Cookie's in the mornings. Coffee in one hand while my eyes were entertained by the birds.
Sue, maybe you could do a Bailey's glaze on the cookies? That will be double Bam, won't it?
Wouldn't it be nice if there's Bailey's ice cream to go with them!!
Marion, you're right. Keep all sweets off Kim there. Trisha just found out she has diabetes and I'm sure that will put a damper on Trisha's love of baking too.
How could sugar be so evil?
If I'm not being too nosy, what have you been working on lately? Knowing you, you got to find something to do if you can't play outside.
Pegi, I intend to set a routine to be in the yard after lunch, when the weather permits. My garden is just too big for one person to maintain. My fault, I want one of everything and not thinking of the upkeep.
Since hired help is out of the equations this year, and Kel's free time is taken up, it's all up to me to give the garden it's needed attention.
I'm ashame to say that I can grow giant dandelions here!!!
Weather is quite nice today, the rains brought the temps down last night, and it's supposed to pour again later.
I am glad that all of the plants grown here like the wet side, especially the gingers.
I'm off to feed my zoo!! Have a glorious day today!!
Eye is doing great, thanks for asking LK. My only problem is my glasses...need to wear them to see but the lenses in the right side throws me off some times. Dealing with it as I only have 2 weeks to go before I get my new ones.
Oh sorry to hear about Trisha. It does make for some serious changes in your life style..but all doable we are learning. Kim is doing so well with her diet I don't dare mess it up by baking. Not only does she have her diabetes under control but has lost a lot of weight!!!! That makes a huge difference in her over all personality...turning into a clothes "hog". LOL
I am devoting much time to cleaning out closets where I just put things when I moved. Kept saying later and later arrived. Of course have had a number of doctor's appointments trying to get caught up on the ones I had to cancel. Talk with my sister daily and Mom seems to be doing okay. Sue can no longer continue going in every day due to the cost of gas and miles she travels. While that is bad, it has had some good side effects....Mom now goes to some of the social things and lets them take her outside on good days. I think she was a little to dependent of us being there all the time and had refused. She gained 3 lbs last month which really excited her.
Don't over do it outside Jaye..if I were closer and off restrictions I would help!!!
