Don't you love those test Marion? So much fun! Not...
Lots of coffee here, if Jaye drank all of hers.
Sweet Interruptions 217
Hey cookie, thanks for popping in. Sending prayers for your Mom.
Crissy many T&P to you and Dave. So sorry to hear of his mom passing.
Cookie sending a big hug to you
Marion glad the eye is getting better. hope the itch goes away
vanilla i love it.
cool whip !! .... well i guess i m a snob with that stuff. only real whipped topping for me. Unless i m making a coconut cream pie for Tim then its cool whip.
made split pea soup turned out pretty good. to much sodium for me but .... how else would you make it taste good ? no salt pork either for me or ham. to much sodium soo i put in some reg salt.
made garlic chicken last night . needed more garlic
ta ta
Cookie, so glad to hear Mom is doing good today. Wish I could be there to help some but alas it can't be right now. Just know I am thinking of you constantly.
LK, it could have been worse, I guess, not sure how. They took me in on time but then had to sit what seemed hours as they were running behind with others. Thank goodness I had my Nook with me and could read. They told me that had greatly improved the taste...well I have news for them!!!! Rotten strawberries can't possible be an improvement, can it?
Son just called to remind me of the GD's ballet recital tomorrow. Good thing as it had honestly slipped my mind. That would have gotten me in serious trouble.
Cookie that is good news! Pop in more often, even if you don't feel like saying anything... a smile will do. I miss you girl!
A fresh pot just for you Marion. Folger's best!
Rotten strawberries?? Yuck!!! I dread the day when it's my turn!
Don't you just hate waiting in doctor's office? All of the mags are of years past and one can't really bring a sewing machine along!
Split pea soup sounds good Sue. I've made it without any pork, just use chicken stock of the low sodium variety.
Sometimes I add those yellow lentils... give it a nice color.
It's steamed bean sprouts for me today. I've been craving for fresh asparagus, and the price is still too high.. at 3 bucks a pound!! Don't they ever go on sale?
The most shocking price tag at the grocery store today was a chicken selling for $8!! At that price, it's cheaper for me to get an already baked chicken.
I must complain of the rising food cost. I feel the pain of Mamas having to feed their kids on a tight budget.
Gas prices soaring here too. Kel said at least he could walk to work.
Dave's fine, he was in Hot Springs talking to someone and picking up some compost for our veggie garden and doing that, which was what he had planned to do anyway. I can't go home, there's no one here to answer the phones. I'd like to go home to get some sleep, but that's not going to happen.
Cookie glad your mom is doing good!!! Thanks for letting us know, miss you!!!
I feel ya Jaye! Not about the asparagus though, me no likey asparagus.
Cookie Hope and Pray your momma continues to get better........!!!!!
Crissy so very sorry to hear about Dave's momma......Sending Thoughts and Prayer to you all !!!!!!!!!
I just got a Dmail from Melody..........She wanted to know if she could use my picture (s) of my Bridal Wreath Spiraea for an article she is putting together tonight to have on Dave's tomorrow ~~~~~~~ YAY !!!!!! I am so honored !!! http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/308963/
That's the white stuff I'm seeing everywhere! LOL You should be honored Synda, how awesome!!!!
Thank you everyone for the well wishes, when I get home from work today I'm going to give him about 100 hugs! LOL!!!
I have not checked the sodium contents yet but use Goya Ham seasonings found in the Mexican food section. Oh I hope I don't find it is on the no-no list as it has replaced my salt pork, ham, bacon etc for just about everything.
When asparagus get cheap, Jaye, you and I will buy a bushel and eat until we are sick!!!! I love the stuff. Sorry Crissy....LOL I am the only one in my family who will eat it.
LOL Marion I'm the only one in the family who won't eat it! And I'm the only one in the world who won't eat cream cheese, unless it's got some serious flavoring to it and mixed into something really well, I can't stand the texture.
There are some people who can't stand the texture and I will be the very last to say anything. I can't stand the texture of peanut butter. Love it in cookies, pies and candy but don't dare give me a sandwich with peanut butter on it. LOL My youngest GD would request a PBJ minus the PB sandwich the summer I baby sat her. Yeap those were her words!!!
LOL........PBJ minus the PB sandwich ,that is priceless !!
I love asparagus, brussel sprouts (sp),spinach......turnips , parsnips yummy .........
Wow Synda, you should be pleased!!
Marion, I'll take asparagus any which way I can. Plus I'll take your share of peanut butter, but no jelly please.
Back in Singapore, there'd be a hawker that sells freshly grind roasted peanut butter every morning at the market. Oh so delicious compared to the bottled stuff.
Synda I am with you all the way on those veggies...yikes this is making me hungry.
Come over and have some bean sprouts with me, Marion!!
I'll even grill some pork chops to go with them!
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
Marion, we had grilled rib-eye's with asparagus last night for dinner! Yummy!
Morning LK! You're up early!
Ok LK, you done it this time!! Setting me out early out of the house to get some asparagus!!
LOL! Don't make a special trip Jaye! Could not sleep, so I am up, and drinking coffee. What are you up early for?
Up early, that makes 3 of us. Hate those days when I wake up the wee hours of the morning and can't sleep. Starting to get light out so I'll be hearing a lot of voices from the mini mall behind us. They sure start their day early, and then it really gets loud when the trucks come in for the deliveries. Going for that 2nd cup of coffee myself and by the time DH gets up I'm ready to go back to bed.
LOL Marion that's funny about the PB!! Too cute!
Why is it on the weekdays the alarm has to go off 50 times before I drag myself out of bed at 6:30am, but on the weekends I wake up completely wide awake at 6:30am????
Cause you don't want to miss a minute of not being at work! ^_^
Yayyy we got a Cookie ^_^!
That means she's having good weather, and can play in her garden!
LK, I complain a lot with Kel's snorings waking me up, and now that he's working at night, I'm not used to NOT hearing the snores!!
So, got a few hours of sleep and did some much needed chores.
Pegi, when I was overseas, I'd be living right in the middle of the cities. I don't miss one bit of the hustle and bustle. Especially sirens!
I would love to live where there wasn't any hustle and bustle, but what can a person do. Stuck right in the middle of it all, but then I would hate to live in Los Angeles, really crazy there.
Well, kind of looks like no sunshine today so that means I can do a little work outside. Wish I could find someone to do my work inside. LOL Squash plants taking over half of my raised bed, but sure do look healthy. I think I have discovered what bug is eating holes in all the leaves, I call it a pincher bug but think they are earwigs. I have so many of them, just as bad as the snails.
We finally got the rain...had to take the thunder, lightning and high winds but we got over an inch last night. Continued until late this afternoon. Thanks whoever is responsible for sending it to us.
Jaye, like bean sprouts also. Kim and I went to Cracker Barrel tonight and I had their Shrimp and grits...yummy!!
Ladies, I was not ready for today. It was the GD dance recital and there were only 4 in the oldest ballet class. It was the first time she has worn the longer chiffon costume and oh my! she looked so grown up. Yes, I am a proud grandma and not ashamed of it.
Hope everyone had a wonderful day and a blessed Sunday.
Marion, you won't be looking at your DGD the same way anymore.
Like that Fiddler on The Roof song..you'd be wondering "Is this the little girl I carry?"
If only they can stay little forever.
Nope, had rain here too but I'm not complaining. At least I'm not one of the 25,000 whose homes would be flooded in Louisiana, to avert disaster in bigger cities.
I'm asking the Lord to calm mother nature for a while...
Pegi, I'm seeing bugs on my persimmon trees!! Tomorrow I'll be armed with spray bottles in each hand and start on all the fruit trees. Hoping it won't rain tomorrow.
I'm yet to get one eggplant to grow in a container. Had you finished preparing your styrofoam containers?
Anyway, hope you get a good night's sleep.
Sue, no news mean you're too poop or it's been a good day?
Good night all... have one marvelous Sunday folks!
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready, french toast and bacon.
French toast and bacon sounds good, I'll have some please. Also coffee to go with it.
We got some rain, I hope enough to make the plants happy. Don't know what the forecast is, but we sure do need rain.
My styrofoam containers are now painted and reading to the garden soil. Guess I won't be able to go out and play today unless the rain stops. I should have taken a picture of them yesterday. A couple weeks ago I bought what I thought might be a clothes tree, but all metal no wood. Whatever it is it is perfect for hanging plants. I poted up a couple of my "million bells" and this stand is perfect for hanging them. I have one more plant to hang on it right now, but no hanging pot. Guess I will have to make it to the 99 cent store and see what I can find. I know I only paid about $1 for the ones I used, but can't remember where I got them.
Pictures please? That sounds so nice!
Will get pictures as soon as I can. It looks like the rain has stopped and sun is trying to come out.
good afternoon.
yes i m a bit busy.
farmers market on sat , no sales :(
some storms came through. lots of rain.
oldest DD gave me some disturbing news so i m trying to process it.
got a 4H meeting today at 3 pm. just not mentally there nor do i want to go. But i will .
just trying to hang in
persimons sound yummy.
Sue, just remember no matter what news comes your way...you have a support group here. Sending prayers.
Oh my but the rain was nice BUT I don't care so much for the thunder, lightning and high winds that had to accompany the system. It is only 79 at the moment, beautiful clear weather outside.
Oh Jaye, you don't know just how right you are. They change so quickly over night. It wasn't just her I noticed but the other girls in her group. They have all been together for the past 6 years and the changes were overwhelming. Gone from clumsy little toddlers to very tall (all of them) graceful young preteens. All the parents should have so proud of their children...I am sure they were. We did discover that why ballet is nice it is not the youngest dance!! Tap lets her real personality come through..rather risky but so be it.
Rain has passed over and sun is out, perfect day. Going to be on the cool side all week which suits me just fine.
I now have pictures of my styrofoam containers and coat rack/plant stand. The containers are 12 " wide X 33" long and 7" deep. I just painted part of the inside walls of containers, dirt will cover the rest. LOL I only have 1 lid so I may just put that under one of them.
DG will only allow one picture at a time. Very nice pictures Pegu! Love that green for the planters. And that plant hanger is so nice!
Is that a joseph's coat rose? It is so pretty.
Wow, you have the green thumb. Look at the tomato's too.
So far my thumb is green, but lets see if I produce good crop. I have 3 spagetti squash and the others are crook neck. I painted the boards of the raised bed in the same green as the styrofoam. Still have a lot of paint left so I may go a little crazy..
Just added another picture of the coat rack/plant hanger, I can add 4 more plants if I'm careful.
