Best/Worse/What did I learn today-visit with friends!!

We were standing in front of a restaurant and there was this Indian guy charging $5.00 to have a picture taken with him, with your personal camera. Seemed like quite the scheme until I started talking to him and saw his blond roots and his baby blue eyes. He got someone who wanted a picture, and when he bent down I could see his fake tan line and let me tell you that boy had whiter skin than I have.

OMG,, Ralph is being transfered to Alexander City, over 75 miles from our house,, so he is going to be moving there for a year or longer!! What am supposed to do about everything I have going on here?? Our house is supposed to be paid off in the next 2 years. I have no clue what to do now.

Yes Ralph is my DH. Ohhhh, that sounded like he wasd leaving me didn't it?? No ,,,What he wants me to do is come up there and stay for 3 weeks out of the month and then come home for 1 week to take care of all the bills and such.


But I have no idea what to do about all my plants!! I guess I can take all the potted ones to Goobers house and she can take care of them. That way the only thing my brother would have to do is feed the cats and dog and water the small garden areas and feed the fish. I think I can trust hiom to do that much?? He is a little ,,,uh,,, unreliable. And how would I do any clay work?? Maybe I could just take my yarn and paints that way I could practice my painting, I have been trying to learn how to do onestroke.

Plus the extra money they are offering needs to cover the added expence of a new place to live while we still have to pay on this one.. Way to much for my small mind to think about!!

Yes, that is Kris' hubby! Wow, Kris, sorry to hear the news! Will he be getting more pay and expenses?

Kris what are the dog and cats going to do while you're gone, they're going to need attention, more than someone coming and going once a day. My ex-next door neighbor started not coming home when she was in the middle of a divorce and I was feeding them, but they still needed the attention of someone living there so they dug out and left! There is a lot to think about, deep breaths girlfriend.....

Crissy, My brother lives with us. so he will be here all day and works at night. He is semi retired so he is home alot!! And I am thinking I will take Mooch with us. They allow pets at the one place Ralph is looking al so we shall see how that goes. The Cts wil not travel. They never leave the yard. So that is not an option.
And Ralph just told me that I can only take 2 types of craft with me at a time. Told me to take my yarn and paints one trip and then take a bag of clay and do some sculpting on the next trip. He says there is not enough room for me, him and my "junk"....lol So see the schock is wearing off....and things will be ok. Of course now I have to see what to do about internet!! Cannot be off line for 3 weeks at a time.

7 days til vacation!! And just think Ralphie might be getting paid to go on vacation now since they donot need him at the new store for 4 weeks from now, but may go ahead and promote him so he will get his new pay standard started!! And yes it is a pay raise, about $600 to $1200 a month more with the bonuses he will be getting.

LOL Kris, that's funny!! Everything is working out, and that's quite the pay raise!! Woohoooooo paid vacation!!!! We can't have you gone for 3 weeks at a time, that's just unthinkable!

I want a long vacation, that 4 day one just didn't do it.

Just got in, didn't even come inside before doing gardening..ever see someone dressed like they are heading to a wedding, dressed up with a shovel in hand? Wanted to beat the black flies but didn't..did manage to finish the garden. Der bedroom windows out front..2 new trees..paid more than I wanted to but man at the nursery told me they love shade and bad soil...that's exactly what I was looking for!

Bought supper 'dirty fries' so now I'll have my bath, get my jammies, eat and relax. Greg and Kyle dropped in. Asked what was in my bag, told them nothing and quickly put them in the house..didn't want to share...did I say that?

Girlfriend Aline just called to say she had some plants for me and would leave them outside if she went to town tomorrow..gotta love it! So hope someone will have phlox for me..nursery only had washed out pink so didn't bother..still time to find red..hard to come by though!

Kris from the time I left the office to now I see you are taking in the changes..heck, you might find a painting studio where hubby will be and join in/meet new friends...
Sounds like quite an increase but only if on top of regular salary offered they'll pay for accommodations..will his job where you live then be redundant after the time away..that would be the pitzzzzz.

So much to worry about AND you'd be away from the grandchildren but just think how it will be when you are back on that 4th week

Lk, he still works for Dominos. But they found out real quick after he stepped down last year that they made a big mistake letting him do it. This is the 5th store they have offered him, and he just could not turn it down with it being next to Lake Martin!! He can go fishing everyday before work,,,lol So it will work out. We found a 25ft 1977 Winnabego on Craigslist today for $2300.00 and bought it. We had to take money out of his IRA, but with the savings on rent and utilities, we can replace it in 3 months and even finally add more to the IRA , plus be able to afford all my expensive perscriptions too. So I guess it will work out in the long run. Plus With the lakes and parks there I will get out and walk more so that will be good too.
As far as internet, I am hoping they have WiFI,, most RV parks have them now. And I have ATT WIFI so I should be able to find somewhere to hook up my internet.

Just have to tell Sarah and the grandkids,, Now that will not be fun!! Goober is not going to be a happy camper at all. And since Sarah is his boss right now she is going to blow a gasket!! I am glad he is handling that and not me.

They only offered to pay the first two months rent and after that we have to pay,, however that will be ok. As for how big of a pay difference, believe it or not they are doubling his current salery!! And as far as job security, He will always have a job with them for as long as he wants, and we only plan, ( right now that is) to be there for 2 to 2 1/2 years,, after that we plan to sell our house and lands here and move to the southern alabama/north florida area. We want to get some land and have a cabin built on it. So with this RV we can actually live in it after we find the land and are building what we want. In the long run this is a good thing!!

Now see that Kris, in a few short hours you've managed to rid yourself of the shock and almost plan the next 2 or 3 years...good for you both!

I be anal that way,,,lol. I can tell you how much money we made in any week of the last 15 years and what we spent it all on. Now if I could just lean NOT to spend money there would be enough left for us all to go on a road trip!!

Omg, just the opposite, life's too short, spend it and don't want to know where I spent it..when there is none in my wallet then I know I've overspent. Lol

Omg if I stayed awake at the money I waste I'd never get to sleep..I justify it as I'm on my own so what I'd spend on others I.e. Hubby and boys I now get to spend it on me!

Might as well be happy Betty. As hubby say's we can't take it with us when we die, and if you leave it behind, family will fight over it, and lawyers will end up with it!

Elf, Sounds like a real adventure and great promotion for Ralph. I think it could be fun living in an RV Park for awhile. Goober can come down and visit, bet there will be a pool and a lot of kids for her to play with.

synda - I'm going to need to learn how to bring hibbies in for winter. I've tried growing in ground... The pic / Rum runner made it through Winter the most successfully but have others that are struggling...

Holly - There is a hibiscus grower very close by here... Dupont's Cajun Hibiscus. I met one of the owners recently... may have to get to know him better so when Betty brings you all over this way we can visit the farm.

Hi Mary,

A quick hello....and then off to bed. I have to be up at 4:30 a.m. Shane goes on his band trip tomorrow, loading buses starting at 5:30...pulling out at 7:00. Have to load all the instruments, luggage and kids & teachers and chaparones.

I was nervous about my surgery today, now after my appointment at pre-op....I am not terrified. SO much so I am thinking of cancelling it. Some things...they really should NOT tell you.

Two trips into Rochester today has worn me out....Shannons car needed new battery, Shane had to have some shoes that fit, and the list went on!

Hopefully tomorrow I can reply to all of you....sweet dreams and hugs,

Morning all, just a few drops of rain so far but you can feel the heaviness in the air and they are calling for 3 days of rain..got inside projects to catch up on..maybe I'll be able to garden between drops..

Oh Debbie, you absolutely must have the surgery..think of the damage that could occur! You could end up incapacitated in your aging years..the plus's far out weigh the con's...think jitters are normal!

As for Kyle, am proud of him, will have to post the poster he designed this year..always encouraging when you see young ones put their energy for the betterment of mankind ..

Good morning all. Woke up with a head full of allergies this morning. This tree pollen is really driving me crazy. I'm so glad it will end soon. I did manage to get a couple of window boxes planted yesterday. Haven't done that for a couple of years. My clematis is growing tall again and the phlox I bought will be in the ground tonight. This is the first year in a few that I have been determined to get outside again. I'm happy doing so.

I'm getting excited about meeting Judy. She is such a special lady and after all I've read here, I want to meet Steve too!!!! What a couple they make!! I have fond thoughts of their trip to Italy last year.

I've been working on the Canada trip for August and I'm thrilled that I may be able to meet with Thea, Dianne and Debbie as well as Betty. What a wonderful trip this is going to be.
When are you supposed to be leaving on your trip Betty? Someday maybe I can take a Southern direction and get to meet with Mary and Crissy and Kris and Holly and Bev and anyone else down that way. Both Norm and I like to ride - now if gas would just come down in price!!!

No more sewing until after the surgery and I'm going through withdrawal!!! A day without sewing is so foreign to me. I guess I'll just have to take the magnifier and read for a while.

Glad you are out in the yard Barb, that alone will bring great pleasure...phlox, creeping or the tall ones..what color..in my visit to the garden center yesterday and WalMart did not find any but today at lunch I'll rush over to the GardenGallery, am sure they'll have exactly what I want..red ones..don't you all find that in perrenials it's hard to find true red??? find that is what my gardens are missing..

No news from Ann, guess her days are filled at the hospital..so amazing how much pain one can tolerate to stay on earth and be with family..she did tell him the other day not to fight to stay for her and the girls, they would be fine..remember saying much the same thing..not an easy thing to tell someone but perhaps it helps them hearing it!

Now Linda, she is high up in the rankings at the Court House here in Barrie, thought she might like to know as she calls me every few days asking if we can leave right away..nope..not till the 19th..didn't have her e-mail addy on the office computer so went to my ipad and typed the names...as she was busy/busy she saw the heading

Guess who we will see in Nashville...she glanced at it and passed it on to her staff to read as they think it's a wonderful idea that she's joining us on this trip..her job is sooo high stress..

Telephone rings, it's Linda, omg, she's talking low and laughing, said we are seeing who??? Here instead of typing Patty Lovelace I typed in Linda Lovelace, biggest p**n star there is..oh/oh...here the girls at her work keyed in the name to see what songs she sings and there was much to do and laughter..

I started to laugh, actually made my day..Paul called just after I hung up with Linda and he could hear laughter in my voice, asked what was amusing, told him, he said seeing as we're 1 short for our trip he'd tag along if that was the kind of stops I'd be making..oh/oh

Well, I finally got the medical info faxed tot he hand specialist, and I have a comfirmed appointment for next Friday! I pray I can finally get some answers. Knee is doing much better. So far, no more fluid build up!
Been working in the gardens today. I have an old swing frame I have a hanging pot of morning glories on, so I took some fishing line, and strung it side to side, and crissed crossed, to give them something to climb on.

Today is Biker Day in Port Dover which is situated on Lake Erie. Sure wish we were going. Thousands of bikers attend this day - everytime there is a Friday thirteenth the bikers swarm into this little village. Always extra police presence there but rarely a huge problem arises. Sure have met some strange dudes and dudettes (as my Dn calls them) there. Ya got the camper Betty you should be going!!While all clubs are represented (no one wears their colours predominately) there are thousands of retired couples who took up motorcycle driving/riding once they retired. My old boss is taking his brand new Harley and he is praying it doesn't rain.Sunny right now but rain forecasted.
Didn't see Frankie this am Betty - what's he got to say for weekend weather?
Barb how exciting you are going to meet Judy. Yesterday I met up with a gal from DG in Gananoque - we had a wonderful time. She was here in Ontario for business so it worked out perfectly. Sure do hope we can get to meet up Barb.

Your garden swing project sounds like it will be a focal point in your garden..love morning glories but just don't grow for me..do you purchase plants or start from seed? what kind of soil?

I noticed this morning when I was walking the gardens that the hops from last year are growing 1/2 foot a day, on the main arbor I have same, fishing line that zigzags so they can grab it but on the other 2 metal arbors at each end of the hidden garden I must do the same, now if they were wood it would not be a problem!

Dianne, can't say he was wrong at the beginning of the week as we had hoped, thunder storms later today, rain all weekend and actually almost into mid week so get the garden work done because you'll have a lot of time inside to play! Most of the crew from Breakfast Television will be in Dover, think it's this weekend, know they were saying that many would be riding in the rain, so must be..

As for the black flies got to say they are terrible this year..

Morning glories are started from seed, and are in hanging baskets with miracle grow garden soil in them. Some seeds I just started today, others are already growing I started a few weeks ago.

Barb, Shane is on his way to Boston. They actually went to Cleveland last year and played at the Rock & Roll hall of fame. He is very excited about seafood and I am trying to find the itenerary.....misplaced it.

Betty, surgery is supposed to be day surgery....but of the 3 day surgeries I have had in the past....I ended up kept over night for observation on two.

Betty that's bold and illegal here, it's illegal to panhandle at all here. I get up early every morning, spend gas money to get here, use up my whole day to go to work to earn my money while some lazy ass can walk into a store and ask the first person he sees for money and he gets it. What's wrong with that picture?

Betty, DH and I have seen Patty Loveless in concert, she opened up for someone we saw. DH referres to her as "patty chestless" but she has an amazing voice. She does several duets and backup songs with Vince Gill...whom I just love!

You almost have to think if they are that desperate then you have to help!

Dave just called and said that his mom has passed away about an hour ago, he was on the phone having a long conversation with his brother Danny who lives in Alaska and hasn't talked to the family, except for Dave, in over 30 years.

Well that was a quick trip to the Garden Center, omg had to be 200 cars in the parking lot, luckily mine is so small it just fit in the corner near the building..knew what I was looking for so it was a quick in and out..

Did find my phlox..difficult as I said to find red, two major distributors that sell roots were sold out but although they were $11.98 a plant (about 1 1/2 ft. tall) I managed to find 2 - color "Watermelon"

Also bought a gardening guide, might help me identify a lot of what I have growing! Started to rain, I'll pop into the garden but for a few moments just long enough to plant them, am sure Mother Nature's watering will do them wonders..

Had forgotten Debbie exactly what had happened but I know we had a laugh! 2 more hours..
