Best/Worse/What did I learn today-visit with friends!!

Look at those hosta's..you sure did accomplish much today! You should be heading to bed, you must be exhausted..

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Look close you will see my Buddha. I'm pretty much done with this bed. Other than to maintain it, the bed is finished.

LindaKay, almost forgot to ask why your knee keeps building up fluids, is it because of infection? Was the draining done in your home town. You sure have had one heck of a time of it..

Victoria Harbour, ON

He is adorable in that garden..looks so inviting! Now what is the white flowers or shrub I see in the forefront?

Waving night/night to all

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I have a Living Hosta Wreath that I put on a stand in that bed. Today I cleaned it up and added a few annuals, dwarf dark leaf begonias & impatiens. So that is also done, it is laying in the bed. Pretty hard to see it, have to let is lay flat for a couple of weeks till the roots take hold. The Living Hosta wreath has about 5 different mini hosta. Doesn't look too good yet but it will when it has grown in a bit. I need some more sphagnum moss to fill in as well.
There are several different Heuchera and some Tiarella as well as several varieties of Hosta also in that bed. It is becoming very colorful.

Holly, your gardens are so pretty! Lots of love and hard work for sure!
Betty, my knee built up fluid from the surgery. She said it is just a protection thing, the knee does not like to be cut on, so sometimes it fill with fluid, to protect it from infection. No, I had no infection. And to keep it from filling with fluid again, I have to wear a brace for a few weeks.
Debbie, any word on your house yet?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Night Betty, Those are the Azaleas.
When I finished with the Potting Shed bed I moved over to the Walkway bed. I fed the Azaleas dug a few plants for the swap took out a dead Azalea and put in a new one. Did a little weeding and added some Impatiens along the front edge. This bed has filled in so well that I could hardy fit in the impatiens. Lets see I think there are 5 Azaleas in that bed, dwarf rhodie, columbine, heucheras, hellebore, astilbe, sweet woodruff, ferns, dwarf goats beard, violets purple, white & yellow, dutchmans britches, jack in the pulpit & Silver Beacon Lamium. Oh don't want to forget the moss bed on the end.

Hello To All !

Awe ((HUGS)) Deb ! Hot Doc sure is a smart one to talk to you and know how to fit in all that you have going on. I'm saying a prayer for you... certainly something will break for ya'll soon (as in good luck). When is DS graduation date ?

Holly your plant beds are just gorgeous ! Love the ferns and wisteria and the Buddha ! Will def try to borrow the "NO" Day...
♪ = Quarter note
♫ = Eighth note (right Susan? )

no I'm wrong... it's Eighth and Sixteenth... okay Susan... set me straight. So much for years of piano lessons and sorry Mom !

Oh Judy - you had a Blonde moment ("13" on computer) LOL.... ((HUGS)) What a wonderful Mom's day... have you found 'the' prom dress ? That can be harder work then any gardening ! LOL Yup Crissy - if Crawfish is what it takes... even throw a few sausages in the boil for Betty since she doesn't eat seafood..... Wow if I didn't have other plans I'd sure drive up to Memphis and meet ya'll !
Happy BDay Kris ! Dragon is gorgeous! As usual all I can do is admire all ya'lls talent. LK So glad you are better... yes think you and Crissy would enjoy seeing the club member's Model A's even if they aren't hot rods. Most try to get them back to original which is what I'd like to try to do. Betty they talked a LOT in the meeting about a rare trip they all took in March to Natchez Mississippi.... up the Audubon trails area... very beautiful small roads, scenery.

Think it took 3 days to get there. at 45 mph. (they also took a trip to Nashvillle TN... so I might be confused) but yes they do shows as well. They all help each other....keep the cars going.

Dianne - Otters are my FAVORITE animals at the zoo ! I've never seen one in the wild. I just thought the were cute ...are they a nuisance as well ?

We all have a BIG week going on next week ! Deb's surgery Tuesday. Betty & I leaving on our trips the 19th. I'm headed to Ft. Walton for Nephews High School Graduation....

I'll pop back in a bit... ((HUGS))

Thanks Linda, Ric and I both put a lot of time and hard work into it. We both really love gardening and since we retired and the kids are grown we have had the time to invest in it. Ric put in the stone walk a few years ago, replacing a smaller stepping stone path. He curved it out and we expanded the existing bed it has really filled in well.
So when I finished with this bed I went out back and fed the Holly Hedge, planted some cannas, marigolds & alyssum around the box pond so that bed is done. Planted the deck boxes and one of my patio pots. Then I potted up some very tiny hellebore seedlings and cleaned up for Birthday dinner with my DGS JR.
I planted the swan planter a couple of weeks ago and wanted to post a picture if it. Not sure how long the Pansies will last looking pretty good right now.

Let me see if I can answer before something shiney catches my eye.

1. On the house. Yes, it is "a progress". We have some steps we have to complete from now to Sept....and then will get a new package. We have monthly payments, a lump sum due in Sept....and lord knows what that will be. Have to have the house surveyed and some other issues....its scary. But long as the payments are met with this new stipulation....we should be OK come Sept. Do not know what new mortgage amount will be yet.

2. Shane has his Senior Day at school is June 10th which is more fun thant the graduations.....and graduates on June 24.

3. DHs resturcturing. Well, it looks like they are selling parts of the plant off....to two different companies. Everything is STILL up in the air...but it is imminent they said. Just dont' know if cut off date is June 1st....July 1st...or when.

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh Look Deb ! A Butterfly ! (LOL) that's what DS19 says he has... ADDOLAB.....Attention Deficit Disorder Oh Look a Butterfly !

Well THAT sounds like good news.. and you know me.. "Positive Pollyana" I'm thinking the restructured company is still gonna need DH's help...and that all sounds like a plan to keep the house... = GOOD! Ours don't have a Senior Day... ? I seem to have many senior moments LOL

Holly - your yards are gorgeous ! I wish I had more shade like you.....

DSD18's LAST day of High School tomorrow. She graduates Monday the 16th.....

Hugs,
Mary

Mary Senior Day is actually "Class Day" but is dedicated to Seniors. There is a breakfast for parents with their "Seniors". Then everyone goes into the Auditorium, a slide show is shown of all the Senior kids thru the years (and tears) along with various songs. Then scholarships and yearbooks are handed out....and then they go outside for fun. Barbeque.... Bands, games, dances, you name it.

Lyndonville, NY

Regarding the "oh look a butterfly" I actually had one of those moments on Mother's Day...and totally embarased myself.

I was telling Jeanna (oldest) a story about something going on...and saw this colorful thing move outside the window. I literally said "Oh look, a bird"...and well...DH & DD lost it totally....I watched it a few seconds and went right back to the story. They couldn't stop laughing....and I totally could NOT figure out why they were laughing.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL Mary - it's Eighth and Sixteenth notes (tied eighths = sixteenth)
I love the "oh look a bird" story, Debbie LOL LOL

Baton Rouge, LA

THANK YOU SUSAN ! ((HUGS)) I knew you would let us know... shame on me... LOL

Oh Deb... ((HUGS)) LOVE the story.... Seniors had a Breakfast earlier this week.... was that called Baccalaureate Day? Anyway.... their last day is tomorrow....
Wow hard to believe with Three teens... TWO DOWN and one to go.... DSD 18 graduates on Monday.... then we leave Thursday for Nephews graduation in Ft. Walton....

Then just ONE Senior left....
Whew !

Hugs,
Mary

Interesting,

How Wasteful the Older Generation Was ...

In the line at the store, the young cashier told the older woman that she should bring her own grocery bag because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment.  The woman apologized to him and explained, “We didn’t have the green thing back in my day.”
The clerk responded, "That's our problem today.  The former generation did not care enough to save our environment."

She  was right, that generation didn’t have the green thing in its day.

Back then, they returned their milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store.  The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over.  So they really were recycled.
But they didn’t have the green thing back in that customer's day.

In her day, they walked up stairs, because they didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building. They walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time they had to go two blocks.
But she was right. They didn’t have the green thing in her day.

Back then, they washed the baby’s diapers because they didn’t have the throw-away kind. They dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts – windand solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.
But that old lady is right, they didn’t have the green thing back in her day.

Back then, they had one TV, or radio, in the house – not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a hankerchief, not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, they blended and stirred by hand because they didn’t have electric machines to do everything for you.
When they packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, they used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.
Back then, they didn’t fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. They used a push mower that ran on human power. They exercised by working so they didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.
But she’s right, they didn’t have the green thing back then.

They drank from a fountain when they were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time they had a drink of water. They refilled their writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and they replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
But they didn’t have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or rode the school bus instead
of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. They had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And they didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.

But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful the old folks were just because they didn't have the green thing back then?

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready.

Holly, I love the pansies! They are one of my favorite flowers!
Debbie, sounds like things are working in your favor for the house! Praying hubby will be kept on with the new owners.

Betty, ain't that the truth about the different generations. I still refuse to have a dryer for my clothes. Our weather is nice enough, we hang everything on the line to dry.

Morning!! 10 more days till I go to WV to visit my son and his family, and 16 days till I get to meet a bunch of my DG friends!! I am getting excited here!!

I have to share the pic of a cake Lk sent m on FB!! I love it! Just wish I had the real thing and not a pic,, I love all the decorations on this!!

Thumbnail by
Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, had a long post all typed, telephone rang, went to check appt. screen and guess I did not press send..doesn't that just frost you!!! lol

Kris, how exciting that you have these two trips coming up, it will surely be something to look forward to .. which DG friends will you meet up with..is Chris one of them?

OMG now look at that cake, if it arrived at my table I'd not be able to take a slice, much/much too prettie..LindaKay did you make the cake??? If you did, sure know what business you should be in..

Hows the knee, tummy and fingers? love clothes line but when I had the back verandah closed in I lost my line post..have to get a 4x4 and have it cemented in ..too bad I didn't think of that for my Mothers Day 'to do' list! Nothing at all smell as nice as fresh clothes off the line..

Synda, don't you be out in the gardens from morning until night..much too much work to try and do it all in a few days..you'll have to post photo's...soooo love having a peak at everyones gardens.

Mary, before you know it you'll have the empty nest syndrom (?)...because you and Debbie have young ones thought I'd get your thoughts..big to do here, lots of school forbidding kids who are wearing the blue cancer bracelets that display " I love boobies" as an awareness and fund raising project..Noah had one on his arm and showed me Sunday, I personally don't take it as offensive but I'm more open to the younger generation than a lot of older people..if it makes everyone aware, so be it...your thoughts?

Can I ask you to include Paul's MIL in your prayers, she had a heart attack last night and is doing poorly..Paul and wife Wilena are on their way now..

oops got to run for a sec...

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I think it is awesome! I have seen a few "teenage boys" with t-shirts "Save the Ta-tas" and it was one of our "cancer kids" from the hospital...wearing it for his Mom who now has breast cancer. Here "pink" is the color for breast cancer.

IF it is for a good cause, can make humor out of a bad situation...then YES!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think kids (although I could see Noah smilling as he showed me) truly do want to make an awareness..think it's the adults who are making much too much about it..someone on the news this morning said if they promote prostrate awareness will it say 'save your pee pee??? can you believe some peoples kids..lol

Debbie, it's great news about the house, guess you have to watch the pennies until final payment but what a relief it must be! now if only Paul will be kept on when restructuring happens.

Certainly will be adding you and yours to my prayers, although have been from the beginning..perhaps a reminder will help!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Holly I love your gardens, they're so pretty.

LOL Betty yes I have but not talking smack about someone and sending it to the person I'm talking about, just miscellaneous texts that make no sense get sent to the wrong person. Now this new phone separates all my conversations so that won't happen if I'm paying attention to whose conversation I'm in.

I have never known anyone to have knee surgery and it not build up fluid, I think that's the nature of the beast.

Mary I know about the notes, I played bass clarinet for years for our jazz band (jr high and high school) and it's been so long I don't remember. I would love to play in a real jazz band, that would be fun! OOOOO if you could drive up and meet with us! That would be awesome!!!

Debbie sweetie you keep getting hit with more and more crap, unreal! You know you're in my bestest thoughts. Dave had both of his shoulders done, one microscopically and the other the other way. Mom had both shoulders done too, she had to have an ice chest attached to her shoulder for a week to keep the swelling down on the second one, the first one they didn't do that with, kinda odd.

Dave's mom is in the hospital suffering from renal failure because she's decided she didn't want to live anymore, so prayers are needed for her too. I just hope she doesn't pass on his birthday or they have her funeral on his birthday.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Crissy that is not good news..including her in my prayers..think that is what Ann's MIL did, just decided she didn't want to live..soooo sad!

Crissy if things work out that you can meet up with us on Sunday (don't stress about being in 2 places at once if Dave's mom or Dave needs you by their side) we could perhaps ask one of the band players if you can join them while on Beale Street..lol

What has the weather been like in your area of late?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Rained yesterday but is so humid that I can't be out but Scotty stays out and shouldn't. It is going to be in the high 60s and 70s next week. Can't wait.

I won't be too far from you so now I can look forward to warm weather...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I'm not going to CA, his family is way too dramatic for me and I'll get mad and say something, besides I've only met them a few times, it's really not my place, so it's not going to interfere with the Memphis trip at all. All of those kids were very mistreated growing up, it got so bad one of them committed suicide and 2 others haven't spoke to their mom in over 30 years, so Dave is not attached to either parent and he won't need me for moral support, he's thinking about not even going if it's going to be this much drama, his eldest brother in Alaska isn't coming down.

ROFLOL!!!!! OK!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well, I can give you a hug for Dave! Same here, if there is drama I'm outa there..no like..

Long day here, took early lunch because Suzanne had afternoon appointments and now it seems forever. Suzanne is walking a bit better, thank goodness, small limp so by next Thursday she might be A+, regardless told her she's coming. You'll love them Crissy...

Just booked hotel in Nashville, same one Debbie and I stayed at while visiting, once Suzanne is done her appt. I'll book seats and backstage pass..hate doing things in advance as you never know what can happen from now until we leave.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It's Suzanne and who else? I don't remember LOL I'm sorry!

Hotels can always be canceled but some tickets can't, I know how you feel but you've got to just say, "We're going and nothing's gonna stop us! HA!!"

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda!! Linda and I were raised together..we're cousins but more like sisters..she was also married to Rene, Roger's younger brother..he ran off with my brothers' wife..now you think your family has drama..lol

Both are like kids when away..better take some nerve pills Crissy, always lots of katitzing when they are around..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Betty, that's drama! If you want I'll tell y'all what's been going on with Dave's bunch I'll tell ya.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sooo glad we can pick our friends..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty are those the two that paged you in CHristmas Treee shop? Bessie Lou Pooosie?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes Debbie, you've a good memory..they were the gals, Suzanne/Linda and then Rita..Rita is the one who cannot make the trip..

Too cute, you know almost as many of my family as i do..lol...i.e. mom/Jim and the girls..can't wait for you to visit me to meet the rest, once you are better, NO excuse

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ooops, you met Darlene as well didn't you?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yes, I met Darlene. I can't wait to meet Suzanne and Linda!! Did I meet Linda, I don't think I did but I met so many I can't keep track! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

No Crissy, you didn't meet either of them..you met Darlene because she was teaching painting in my craft room while you were visiting! Debbie also met Darlene think on my last visit to Buffalo when I brought over wood pieces for Debbie

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I didn't think so. I can usually remember everyone, if not the name I can remember a face.
