Coffee Break #59

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

My personal hate is the George Washington bridge. Must be 12 lanes of traffic there and so many trucks!

You will be fine, Celeste. Have fun!

We love driving in Maine - NO traffic!

YUP, that a Maine Highway...2 lanes going one way and 2 lanes going the other.
No Pressure!

Yes there is, its boring and desilate..

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

So often we are the only car on the highway. It's pure pleasure.

When Tarsha takes over the driving and you get to some busy areas you could take photos! Don't forget batteries and chargers.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Pirl for the reminder!
Yes Sherrie, your quite right, it's very boring.....but not if you like pines. ;)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

NOT boring! Distracting with the beauty but definitely not boring.

We drove through there one year and it was all ICE. Rather take and go else where when its that bad.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Pretty picture Pirl!
No I don't recomend coming here in the winter unless you like winter sports and traveling in a mess. ^_^

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

My earlier post was taken with snow showing between north and south lanes. Maine is very good at keeping the roads clear after snowfalls, unlike Virginia, North and South Carolina. If you want grief go south in a storm. It took us over an hour to go five miles in Virginia on roads that were all ice. Their solution? "The sun will take care of it".

And you can't even get a lobster roll down there!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Are you going to NYC too, Celeste?? Thought it was only DC.

Paranoia about NYC is nothing new. I worked in Harlem for 17 years. Took the subway at night. Nothing ever happened. Truth be told, I've seen many rednecks over the years that were scarier than city people!

Thomaston, CT

I don't like any city......I'm with Pixie! Noticed some rustling in the crabapple's blossoms...got the binocs....indigo bunting & blue-winged warbler.....love this time of year!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We aren't city people either but we were very pleasantly surprised with Portland, Maine. It's actually a city that we both enjoy walking around, day or night. It has the usual terrific restaurants, great shops, history, and the waterfront...along with fresh lobster.

Thomaston, CT

Portland is OK, but I like the small hamlets better......

Been to Portland many times. I really did not care for Augusta

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I prefer Portland to Augusta and love Brunswick as well. Harpswell and the Japanese irises is heaven on earth and so unspoiled.

Damarascotta and their pumpkin art festival is a delight.

I am sooooo not a city person either, but I loved Pittsburgh.

Worst driving ever!!! Around DC and around Altanta...I've never had to drive into NYC thank God, always took the train or someone else drove, had to drive out to LI a few times for work, not bad once you get out of Brooklyn

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Long Island Expressway is ultra boring.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sherrie, I never call it "Augusta" always say "Disgusta"

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Does Pittsburgh count as a city?? ^_^

Hallowell, ME

As a courier I've been all over this state. Probably the most boring is between waterville and newport although it gets boring between orono and lincoln too. DW and I spent the day in greenhouses buying annuals and a few perennials. Dropped a couple of hundred no sweat. Had to do a stress test today after a minor heart attack last weekend. Have to back off lifting heavy stuff. Tomorrow is big day of planting what we bought today. Having asparagus soup tonight. Fresh asparagus from the garden. Tomorrow night is trout!!!!! Enjoy your weekend all -- I sure will.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - take care of yourself, Frank.

Thomaston, CT

Sorry to hear of your health problems, Frank! Sounds like you are back on track, however......listen to the doc....and your wife!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Take care, Frank!!!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thomaston, CT

Same sad story here with a boy from my son's town....he was a great soccer player.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I find it really troubling these kids think they have no one to turn to.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Frank has a dh????

Hallowell, ME

Hallowell, ME

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)
